Great drugstore cleanser. This removes all my makeup easily. I love it's gentle formula that doesn't break out my sensitive skin. I have repurchased this several times. Its very affordable and the pump makes it very convenient

" Whenever I used it, my face never felt totally clean, and oddly enough felt tight and dry."
___________
This is exactly my experience. I was so excited to try this. My skin feels tight like I haven't rinsed but then it totally dries out. (I have the stuff for normal to oily skin) It is the first product I have used that actually feels like it is damaging my skin :(

I bought this at Walmart after constantly seeing it recommended on MUA's skincare board. I used it for a few months, but never repurchased because over time, my skin was becoming dull and clogged, and I wanted to revamp my routine. I also love my skin to feel very smooth and refreshed after cleansing, and this cleanser didn't live up to those standards. I might allow myself to give it another test drive someday. Although it wasn't perfect, I had my fair share of good-skin days while using it, and it didn't seem to cause horrible breakouts or irritation.
Ingredients: Purified water, cocasidopropyl hydroxysultaine, glycerin, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, peg-150 pentaerythrityl tetrastearate and peg-6 caprylic/capric glycerides, niacinamide, propylene glycol, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, ceramide 3, ceramide 6-II, ceramide 1, hyaluronic acid, cholesterol, sodium chloride, phytosphingosine, citric acid, edetate disodium, dihydrate, sodium lauroyl lactylate, methylparaben, propylparaben, carbomer, xanthan gum

I bought this when I ran out of my Phisoderm anti-blemish face wash and couldn't get it locally. Saw it in my supermarket and thought it looked like a nice big bottle for $10. Now I am totally in love with it. It works better than Phisoderm on my mature, slightly sensitive, acne prone skin. I have had very few zits since I started using this, yet it is not overly drying either. My new HG face wash. I only use this in the morning though, I use other products to remove makeup in the evening, and still use my Clinique 3 step face wash at bedtime. But this is great for in the shower.

One of the very best drugstore cleansers imho. Will clean your skin well without overdrying. Can also be used as bodywash or hand soap in very cold dry weather, or if your skin is just that dry/sensitive. Have used this as bodywash for 2 kids with eczema with nice results. Obviously....it will not remove waterproof, tenacious makeup or sunscreens. But for a general cleanser, it is hands-down one of the best.
Oh, and the non-foaming version of this, while also very non irritating. non drying and soothing.....simply doesn't clean as well.

Never in a million years will I ever touch another CeraVe product again. Stupidly I did purchase this cleanser as it seems to be a well loved product on SCB. Now I know my skin hates caprylic/capric triglycerides, yet I somehow thought perhaps this formulation, being so popular, would turn out okay.
Within two days of using this cleanser, clogs and cysts appeared on my face. I stoppped using it and my face cleared. Now because I paid around $14 for the container, I thought I could just use it up as a shower gel of sorts on the body parts that do not break out. TMI time but within two days of using it, cysts on the backs of my legs and butt!
Just heaved that bottle right into the trash. Make sure if you decide to try this product that you are not sensitive to any of its ingredients - I tried it foolishly and paid the price. Lesson learned. Not always good to run with the herd. :)

Im going to start ny saying If you are sensitive, acne prone, clog prone please DO NOT use this. I bought this about a year ago and stopped using it after a few days because it seemed to be giving be a rash. Recently I tried Joseof's Sulfer Soap and after a few days it made my face super dry and my neck and chest became scalely just from it rinsing over that area. I went back to my regular routine but nothing was helping the dryness. I decided to try Cerave Cleanser again with the Cerave Cream because of all the great reviews of it balancing ph and moisturizing with ceramides. BIG MISTAKE. After a week my skin was still dry and scalely and I developed a pimple like rash all over my face and neck. Even behind and in front of my ears had clusters of hard bumps. I also had clogged pores everywhere and a lot of them were turning into whiteheads. NIGHTMARE. After about a month of using Dove Sensitive Bar and taking supplements to speed up the healing process Im just now getting my smooth skin back.

This is my HG cleanser! Keeps my skin balanced, isn't harsh, has a pump!!!! My skin has cleared up completely since starting my new skin care routine, which includes this lovely cleanser. I had been using harsh cleansers all long that were totally defeating the purpose of what they were meant to do. This has eliminated my acne, and doesn't make my skin red or irritated like every other cleanser I've tried. It's. bit costly for a drugstore product, but it comes in a giant bottle and lasts forever. I've been using the same bottle since February and still have at least 1/4 of the bottle left. Highly recommend this!

I was recommended this product from my dermatologist, and now I don't use anything else. I have oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin, and I break out if I change anything in my skincare routine. This is the first cleanser I have used that does not dry out my face too much, takes off all my make-up, and does not break me out!!! It's not very expensive either, I bought it at Rite-Aid, and it comes in a big bottle, One lasted me for 6 months. I don't think I'll ever use another face wash.

This review is for the FOAMING cleanser version. This cleanser is a gel that foams up. I find it to be better than the creamy non-foaming original version as it cleanses much better. No perfumes or dyes and does not sting or irritate skin. The ceramides seem to balance out moisture level in skin so that it is not too stripping. To remove makeup I use DHC Oil Cleanser then follow up with this cleanser. It does leave face a bit tight so I follow with a dab of the Cerave Moisture Lotion, the thicker cream has petrolatum in it which seems to clog my pores. Overall, I wish I would have tried this earlier as I have spent thousands $$$ on moisturizers and cleansers from Estee Lauder, Clinique, Jurlique, drugstore brands, etc.

Ive been using acnefree for a few years and its been amazing! I decided to try cerave because of all the good reviews. This broke me out so bad! I used it for a week thinking that I would let my skin get used to it but nope by the end of the week I had huge painful under the skin pimples. Do not buy this!

I gave this product several months of use before deciding to write a review and I've determined that I thoroughly enjoy this cleanser! After straying away from it to try some other cleansers (Cetaphil, Purity, Clinique, Keihls) I came right back! It has a lovely texture that does a wonderful job of cleansing the skin without stripping it of it's moisture. It removes all my makeup except my stubborn gel eyeliner. I've never found it to be irritating, but actually find it to be quite calming...maybe due to the ceramides and niacinamide? I either use it alone or after oil cleansing with mineral oil. It's usually priced around $12, but you get a large bottle with a pump that lasts me 2 months. I also use it in combination with CeRave PM, which I've been using for over a year with no complaints.
I have combination acne-prone skin with eczema for reference!

I have mild Rosacea & 1st heard about Cerave from my dermatologist. I didn't even know it contained anything beneficial "beautywise" until I saw it here on MA. I just knew that it was very gentle & this cleanser along w/ Cerave moisturizer was recommended to me by my dermatologist to use before I apply a Roasacea gel medication (Finacea-15% azelaic acid) that she prescribed for me.
I kind of find this genre of cleansers boring (Cetaphil, Cerave, etc) so I ignored her advice & WOW did I learn my lesson. Tried just washing my face w/ Dove soap & skipping moisturizer and then applied a big old glob of Finacea-my face felt like it was on fire for like an hour!!!! Part of that was my skin adjusting to the acid in Finacea but a big part also was that I didn't follow her advice re:using Finacea.
I think it is an excellent product. I have dryish skin & after cleansing, my face feels a little tight but not super dry. It does a great job of cleaning off all of my face make-up (never used it to remove mascara). This does not break me out but I did try the moisturizing version for dry skin & that did cause extra blackheads so I switched to this foaming version for normal/oily skin, even though I mostly have dry skin. As for the "foaming" action, I don't think it foams much but it does clean & has no distinct scent.
All in all, this is a kind of boring, basic, fragrence free face cleanser that comes in a white, medicinal-looking pump that a doctor would tell you to use which is typically the stuff I run from but...having said all that, I can tell you that Cerave works very well & is better than all the fancy cleansers that I have tried in the past.

LOVE THIS! I have used Cetaphil for years but Cerave has much better ingredients. My breakouts have calmed down, my oily skin isn't as oily, and I love how this foams up. Would repurchase!

This cleanser worked well for me. I use it after my oil cleanser, and it actually seems to dry out my skin less than the SkinMedic cleanser, which I had used before. My breakouts stopped (until now) since I started using this, but that may be because of the new topical I'm using.
The pump packaging, and the fact that you get a lot for the money, are other advantages.
Edit: It did end up drying out my skin, so I switched back to the Obagi Gentle cleanser.

This is a pretty unremarkable foaming cleanser; nothing good or bad to say about it. It cleans better than their hydrating cleanser.

I admit it....I gave in and bought this cleanser, after reading the reviews I thought it would be a good choice for my picky, oily, hormonal skin. I soon found out how wrong I was. Broke me out in deep painful cysts., which took forever to heal. Whenever I used it, my face never felt totally clean, and oddly enough felt tight and dry. I am glad however that so many others have had such positive results. A HG cleanser is a must, and so hard to find!

It was because of the rave reviews I've heard about this product that I decided to go out and buy this. Unfortunately, this dried out my skin SO BAD I couldn't believe it. I literally only used a pea-sized amount on my entire face and yet it felt like my face was stretch as tight as an elastic band. It's too bad since I really, really wanted this to work for me, and it seems like I'm the only one that has had this experience with this cleanser. I have not tried the Hydrating Cleanser because I've combo to oilier skin but on second though, maybe I should've.
Pros:
- Nice, clean packaging?
- At least it didn't break me out (as far as I know of)
Cons:
- EXTREMELY DRYING
- Expensive (I paid $15 for 300 mL)
Maybe it's just me, but I will definitely not repurchase this. Will continue hunt for HG cleanser.
