such a gorgeous color on any skin tone! but ridiculously frosty, it settles into lines on the lips making them appear older than they are.
would love it if it were in any other formulation. bummer

I got this lipstick as a swap and i cant say dislike it but nor do i love it. I found that it is very purple and can make my face looked a little drained but i will wear it with like a darker gloss on top just to use it up.

Aristo-cat is perhaps like a purple version of creme-de-la-femme. They have the same gold frost running through them but different undertones. I bought this specifically to wear with docile lipglass. When I wore the two of them together in the store the effect was so pretty I knew I had to get them both. Since docile has a purple shimmer it seems to intensify the colour of Aristo-cat. I can wear Aristo-cat by itself and it gives a muted shimmer that is just enough for work but with docile the effect is wowee. Would not buy by itself.

When i want My Lips But Better on an ordinary day, i wear L'Oreal Gilded Pink, a light-medium warm pink with gold frost. But when i want My Lips But *waaaay* Better on a more than ordinary occasion i wear MAC Aristo-cat.
Aristo-cat is a Limited Edition release, part of the fabulous "Fabulous Felines" collection from early fall 2010, in the "Palace Pedigreed" group. It's a medium-light cool pinky mauve with gold frost. The color is just a little deeper and more violet than my natural lip color, so it's a bit dressier than Gilded Pink. It gives more coverage and is longer lasting than the L'Oreal (it better, at twice the price). It is creamy and isn't at all gritty.
Although the base color leans toward cool, the gold frost warms it up, so it's probably complimentary on both warm toned and cool toned skin. And since it is medium toned and not far from the natural color of many people's lips, it's probably wearable by a wide range of skin colors.
I just wish it wasn't LE :-(
EDIT: So i have been looking for a dupe. At MAC i tested around 10 lipsticks various cosmetic review sites said were close or the same. Nuh-uh. But i kept on swatching. On me, anyway, the standard color closest to Aristo-Cat is Odyssey. It isn't quite as purple, and it has some bronzier frost, but it's very close. Now i won't be so afraid to wear out my Aristo-Cat :-)

So, today I finally decided to dig out a low end lippie and give it a try and realized it reminded me A LOT of one of my favorite MAC lipsticks. Here the picture is;

Upper lip MAC Aristocat $14.50 retail but going for far more on EBay as it was LE
Lower lip Wet n Wild 502A .99 cents at Walgreens but just got a back up today on sale for .69 cents
The Wet n Wild appears a tad less plum more pink in the tube bit is identical on. They have the identical feel on as well. I wore 502a all day and it wore very nicely. :). Woohoo!

I do like this lipstick, but I've had some issues with it. The main problem is that this lipstick arrived from MAC broken at the base (wtf! Not acceptable for an almost $15 lipstick. Nothing else in my order was messed up though) so that upset me. I didn't feel like bothering to ship it back so I used a lighter and melted it a bit and was able to Macguyver it back on. I've had to do that a few times now, it just slides off the base whenever it feels like it. So crazy, because I've never had this much trouble with a lipstick before. ANYWAY, all that annoyance aside, this is a beautiful and unique color. I would describe it as a mauve, medium in darkness, with a fair amount of lavender tint. Apply a few layers and it can be quite purple, not in a weird way though. The golden frost is definitely noticeable, but not too over the top, and very pretty in my opinion. It is a little dry because it's a frost, but used with a lip balm, it is fine. I like Nivea Essential Lip Care best, the one in the dark blue tube. Sucks that the stick keeps breaking (arghhhh!) but I'll keep using it. It isn't really an "everyday" shade for me, but it's pretty.

I'm kinda disappointed but on the other hand I do like it and I do wear it a lot. The pictures online make it look a lot lighter than it is so when it came I was a little disappointed at how dark it was. Its on the darker side of mauve with gold flecks as opposed to being more pinky. It's also a lot darker than I'm used to wearing. However lately I've been wearing NARS orgasm lipgloss on top of it whick does lighten the colour a little and looks good.

IIiinteresting........MUCH more purple on me than I would have anticipated from the descriptions or from looking at the color in the tube. I swapped for this hoping it would be Lovechild Lipglass in Lipstick form, but it actually shows up quite cool toned, whereas Lovechild (although mauve + gold also) wears more neutral to warm. I agree with everyone that this is a MUCH better Frost texture than most, but I did still feel the need to put some gloss over it as it definitely accentuated my very dry lips. All in all a great color, just darker and with more purple than I had anticipated.

This lipstick has a beautiful dark mauvy color that has a silver frosty undertone. It is so perfect for the fall and I absolutely love this lipstick. It says its a frost finish, but it doesnt have a gritty texture that most frost lipsticks have (Ramblin Rose lipstick). Application runs smooth and evenly. I would recommend this lipstick if youre into lipsticks like High Tea, yes its a different color, but they both give that silvery frosty sheen on your lips. This works well with all skintones imo. Will repurchase if they sold it again.

This is a creamy frost lipstick that reminds me of something the character Aria Montgomery wears on the TV show Pretty Little Liars. I've been looking high and low for the shade she wears during the show (not the really plummy shade one she's wearing in the intro, although that color is gorgeous) and this is the closest I have found. It's a very muted frosty mauve/plum IMO. I agree with AntiqueAcorn that this the perfect lipstick to go with the Palace Pedigreed quad. I like to wear it on top of Myth lipstick with Whirl lipliner. Would look even more like what Aria is wearing if I layered a clear or sheer gloss on top. NC25-30

I'm surprised that this doesn't have suuuuper great reviews. It reminds me of the LE lipsticks from past collections, like Madame B. I guess MUA has gone all conservative. Anyway, Aristo-cat is a mauvey purplish rosy complex color with golden frost. It looks Barbie-pink in the tube, but it is surprisingly neutral and pretty on. As another reviewer mentioned, the texture is creamy for a frost color. I am pale with neutral undertones, I guess leaning toward yellow if I had to pick a shade, but I am sure this would look awesome on cool toned people too.

I was overcome with the Fabulous Felines collection...not fair at all to have so many cool things come out at once that are limited edition...Anyway...thankfully for me, only one lippie really worked...Aristo-cat is a really pretty light-meduim toned cool violet shade with gold shimmer...I'm not going to call it a mauve, because to me, it doesen't have enough pink in it, but it's a nice color to wear with pinks and purples. It does have a frosty quality that I'm not overly excited about, however it's not enough to put me off. It is a nice color for my pale, cool complexion, and I'm pretty happy with it. The other colors in the collection were different than the usual fare-only they were mostly on the way too frosty side, which is a shame. This appears to be the fav of the collection, as I had to call around and do a special order for it...everyone was out, Kudos to MAC for coming out with some really wearable fall colors that are different and unique.

A wearable, not overly frosty cool mauve. I like the more moisturizing feel of this Frost formula, and it does seem much less drying than other older Frost lipsticks I own, actually hardly drying at all on my fairly sensitive lips. I add Easy Lounger to the center of my pout to warm this color to suit my NC30(?) skintone.

I had been interesting in this shade as well as Kittenish for a few months now. When I finally received my order, I was very pleased with all the lipsticks I purchased. Aristo-Cat is a frosty mauve shade. I would have preferred it being an amplified shade to be honest for more coverage as well as a darker shade. I can wear this shade at work and in the evening. This is a definite color for those who enjoy mauve color lipsticks.

I've read so many reviews on this from other people & don't think they quite nailed it. When I first saw this lippie in it's case, I thought it looked a little like Plum Dandy. When I put this on, it was a little lighter (probably because it's a frost). It had the texture of Eden Rocks (which I love) where it doesn't have a super-duper frosty texture. I would describe this as a very cool mid-tone pinky-mauve with a dash of plum. It's almost like combining Plum Dandy with some Fabby. It looks great on my skintone (I'm a C3/NC25 w/ yellow undertones). As with all MAC frosts, I think they look much better when you add a little gloss over it rather than just wearing it straight from the tube (where it can tend to look a little too "frosty" & dull).
P.S. This looks NOTHING like a cool toned Fresh Salmon or Pervette.
