Sensuous Noir by Estée Lauder is not a ground breaking fragrance by any stretch of the imagination; however, when compared to other designer fragrances, SN is a breath of fresh air. Basically, it is a sweet, woody oriental with a crowd pleasing pine/patchouli/vanilla-dessert note combo. Do yourself a favor during your next visit to your local department store: walk past Coco Noir and continue straight to SN—you will not be disappointed. Actually, stay at the EL counter and continue sniffing your way through the entire line. Be sure to stop at Cinnabar and Private Collection. If you find the two aforementioned fragrances too “vintage” for your taste, check out Bronze Goddess and Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia; there should be something for everyone.

Longevity and Projection: Good

A big no for me as it smells like a man' s cologne to my nose
Actually my GP uses a cologne that smells just like it
I prefer feminine scents, Estee Lauder missed the target on that one, a scent can be dark, it doesnt t have to be so dry and masculine!

Seriously, the most BEAUTIFUL fragrance I've ever smelt. I absolutely adore it. Although everyone's tastes are different, I just can't believe some people think it doesn't smell good. It lasts for the whole day, not exaggerating.. and even after 8 hours the scent is just so irresistible! I can't stop smelling myself! The other reviews are 100% correct.. a little goes a long way. I give 1 spray to my neck and it lasts all day. The price was as expected for an elite brand..but well worth it.. and will definitely last a while. It's great quality.. you won't regret it. :) A lifetime subscription to this perfume please! Hehe. Oh and also, today at work I had many customers tell me they love my perfume, in which they rarely do.

I had been wanting Sensuous for a while -it smelled great sprayed on clothes. But once tested on my skin, I ended up with Sensuous Noir instead. So glad I did.

I sprayed one wrist with Sensuous and the other with Sensuous Noir.Sensuous started off with that nice woodsy/oriental note that I like about it.Then it turned a soft floral, before ending up slightly powdery. And the end product was so so soft it was barely noticable.Sensuous Noir,on the other hand (wrist actually) started off with the same woodsy/oriental note as Sensuous, but stronger. Then it changed to a slight vanilla, ending in a soft musk (with a trace of the vanilla remaining) that was noticable but not cloying.

Sensuous Noir reminds me of Tom Ford Black Orchid and Black Orchid Voile de Fleur-it begins very strong then shifts to something softer. It's almost as if Tom Ford Black Orchid + Dior Addict joined together. Odd but quite the perfume for those that want something that is not plain.

Tried this today and I think the word Noir is a give away that this smells like a mens fragrance. I don't love this but its not all that bad, just really strong in a mens fragrance sort of way, I actually think this would smell good on my husband, I would really love to smell this on him.

Being that I love the Sensuous Nude, I thought I'd test spritz this one as well today at the mall. Ughhh... not feminine at all... reminded me of pipe tobacco ....quite possibly headache inducing if applied with a heavy hand.

I like this, but my husband LOVES this! He is a patchouli lover and I wear it for him because he thinks it is sexy. Lasts forever on me. I will repurchase. Would have given this and Sensuous both 5s but couldn't because of the boring bottles!!

I have been addicted to this scent! I went to the Lauder counter to spray (for the fifth time or so!) and melted. Some of it must have sprayed on my coat, because even up to a week later I was enjoying the scent every time I put on my coat! This is a nice warm scent that has a bitter sweetness to it. If you like spicier, warmer scents - this is for you. There are some florals in here, mostly night flowers, patchouli, vanilla, honey, amber, and more.

Oh my! This is the sexy sister of the Sensuous trio of scents, as far as my nose is concerned.

Sensuous Noir is a modern oriental. After using up the sample spray, I promptly ordered it in a full size when Macys had an Estee Lauder gift-with-purchase special.

Sensuous Noir, in it's royal purple colored bottle, smells predominantly of spices, woods, amber and vanilla with a hint of patchouli.

You'll probably like this if you enjoy classic old orientals like L'Heure Bleu and Shalimar; as well as Estee Lauder orientals like Youth Dew, Cinnabar and Spellbound (though all three of those are much sweeter and stronger than Sensuous Noir). This is definitely an autumn/winter scent too.

I received a free sample of this product and loved it. I don't really like the first scent, but within half an hour it has calmed down enough for me to quite pleased while still remaining engaging. It also seems to last forever; I can still smell a hint of it if I sniff my wrists 40 hours later!

On me this is very dull, just light slightly sweet patchouli that packs no punch. After about 4 hours it develops a slight powderiness and smells of amber but that's about it. Very disappointing. I find it also has not much staying power on my skin.

Make sure you take heed of the name- NOIR. This perfume is great, but really only suited to a big night out at a sexy night club. Wearing this Sensuous Noir without smokey eye shadow and stiletto heels would seem inappropriate and OTT.

A great perfume for the above occasion though, and great lasting power too. Can still smell it on clothes I wore 2 weeks ago!

Sexiest fragrance I have smelled in years - better than the original (lasts longer on me and more of the honey and amber notes which are less popular in the modern fragrances which are being released these days). on first spray there is a slightly masculine tinge mixed with something that reminds me of Chloe Narcisse, but then settles into a beautiful musky clean fragrance which I adore.

I'm a fragrance junkie, and Sensuous Noir is definitely one of my top 5 favorites. If you like strong, moody, evening scents, try this. I love the original version too, but to me, the peppery, musky, more masculine notes in this one make me feel even sexier.

Not horrible, but this smells masculine to me. Too heavy and too musky.

Sensuous Noir is quite similar to its predecessor, but with a few extra notes that give it a more earthy presence. Sensuous Noir has the warmth of Sensuous, but the pine and honey give it the feel of a long walk in an Autumn forest. It's quite nice, but I still prefer the original version.

Lovely, lovely lovely; one of the best fragrances my nose stumbled upon in 2010.
Sensuous was nasty on me and i truly disliked it.
Sensuous Noir was a revelation: woody, sensual, deep...chocolatey (chocolate is not mentioned in the notes, but it may well be honey + vanilla) and warm that much you need to face a cold winter day.
Recomforting and feminine. Probably not so office-appropriate, unless in homeopathic doses, but great for an afternoon with friends.
A must try!

Sensuous was awful on me, but Noir is a hit at my house- it's the first fragrance with an amber note I've ever been able to wear!

On me this smells like a near perfect dupe of Fille En Aiguilles, but with better sillage and slightly sweeter. Ashleydutta is right that this smells like cologne, but on my skin the peppery masculine top notes are short lived and I'm left with a creamy woody sweetness that is absolutely feminine and, true to its name, sensuous.

Top note: Jasmine, Purple Rose, Pepper, Spices

Since I like warm, spicy, musky scents, I thought I may like this one. It did smell delicious spritzed on the paper card. Once I sprayed it on, however, it didn't smell so nice. It started smelling too much like incense, and then just dried down to smell like an incensey men's cologne. My mom and sister smelled it and both said it only smelled like men's cologne. nothing sexy about that in my opinion :-(. The original Sensuous, while I don't care for it that much either, is much better.

I am not a big fan of the original Sensuous but this is definitely more up to my liking. They have used the same basis but made it more interesting by adding more spice and fruit. This is defilitely a warm scent, perfect for Christmas ( I am actually wearing it today and it is a perfect match)! Good sillage and staying power. I would consider buying a full bottle!
EDIT: After wearing consecutively for three days, I have realised that it is a little bit too sirupy for my taste and it gets overwhelming after a while. I wish I could give it 3.5 lippies.
