Another gift from a pal! Had to look up the price point. It's high end alright, lol. I didn't think these shadows would work because they are powders, however I now wear a creamy base underneath them and they really hold on to the skin without drying it out. The shades are neutral enough for daytime/office yet can be deepened for a bolder eye if I need it.

The fall out is considerable imo. I do better patting these on than brushing them on. Careful blending makes them look gorgeous the peach patted along the brow bone and blended. My skin-tone is NC40 which can take the deeper tones. There is a considerable amount of shimmer, but they shimmer wears off quickly. I'm really happy that all four shades are so wearable.

I bought this at USD$54 at Saigon airport yesterday and I LOVE IT. I was worried that the round pans meant that the colours werent as pigmented as the sqaure pans but I was wrong! the pink/peach shimmery colour comes out as a beautiful gold highlighter with peachy undertones.

I was torn between choosing Enigma and Mystic Eyes. I really like the taupey and bronzey colours but I like the deep browns in Enigma.

I've loved using this quad recently, you can build up the colours for a nightime look or use it as a daytime look! The peach colour is great as an all over lid colour and the rest are awesome as outer corner colours.

I bought one, then I bought a back up.

I love this quad probably more than I love my other Chanel quads.. and I have a respectable number of them... but this one can go from soft day looks to more sophisticated and important night looks with smokier looking eyes. The colours if used wet for night stay on until the following day.. I have tested them for this lol.

The price? high, but Chanel quality shines in this one.. the shadows are smooth, not chalky and full of pigment.

Beautiful quad from Chanel! The colors look dark in the case but goes on sheer, does have more glitter than some other Chanel shadows I've tried. I actually like using MAC color pigment in Vanilla with this as a highlighter right under my brows and in the corners of my eyes when going out - they actually go really well together. Enigma is probably a bit too much for the office, but for a night out it's great!

I don't own many eye-shadow palettes, usually preferring to buy single shadows however I made an exception for this one. The colours are fantastic for showcasing my hazel eyes, especially the eggplant shade on the bottom right. I generally use the eggplant shade with a slight dusting of the more sparkly, purple shade on top and the stunning shimmering pink in the inner corner. I find that the colours work best with a nude or pink lip and a pink cheek.

I bought this palette online after hearing a couple of good reviews on you tube. I was a bit dubious of the colours when I first opened to box up. I am quite pale (NC15-20) and generally stick to neutral shadows (nothing over the top or brightly pigmented) - think Bobbi Brown or Naked Palette.

I was pleasantly surprised by the colours. I would consider them medium shimmered - still useable for work/day wear. If you dont like shimmer then don't buy this palette as each shadow has shimmer in it. On my skin they are quite highly pigmented so I am careful to apply the darker colours with my brushed and blend, blend, blend. The darkest colour is good for me as a liner, although I would need to touch up once during the day.

You can build the colours up to get the dramatic smokey eye look too.

It is of superb quality but hey - it's Chanel! Nice compact.

-its so unfair that in eurpe they only sell the stupid baked-caked round verions of all the quads! they are impossible for me to use! i just look like ive been punched because they are not managable or blendable in any way once their on the eye. so i did tryed to use my enigma quad (which has soo beautifull colours that sparkel and look lovely) when i got it for a few times but never could handle the baked-shadows. i m not a makup-artist so i cant controll these baked shadows. i would buy the american-version of them in a hartbeat! everybody in the u.s says their great.

Colorwise, this is a palette which I wish it was permanent. I love mauve/khaki/eggplant colors so much and this quad has them all. The colors have been described accurately, although the bottom left one, which is refered to as gray, is a sparkling mauve on me. However, I have two issues with this product. First of all, I don't find the shadows particularly pigmented. I have to use a lot of product to show up really dark (and I have fair skin). This means that, since I love the colors so much and I use them almost everyday, I will run out soon. Second, there is fall-out with this palette, which makes it messy. Dark specks fall in the lightest color all the time. Anyway, I would repurchase if I could, because I believe Chanel colors are the best.

I really wanted to like this, as the colors looked so pretty in the packaging and I paid so much $$$ for it, plus it was Chanel!!

The good thing about Chanel was that the eyeshadows were very finely milled, so when you put it on it goes on really fine and you don't see the powder like you would with less finely milled shadows. That being said, because it was so finely milled (not sure if this was really the reason), I found that the color payoff was really not that great, except for the darkest color. I used an eyeshadow brush, and found that i had to layer and layer the shadows on for it to show up as anything other than a slight shimmer on my lids. For the record, I am a Bare Minerals Light, and MAC NC20, so my skintone is fairly light. The packaging looked good with the black case, but I found that shadow powder was prone to fly around the case, and it really showed up with against the black case. I will not be repurchasing this again.

As with all the Chanel quads when you see it for the first time you think: hm, quite a lot of glitter! Then when you swatch it or even better have the Chanel MUA put it on your eyelids it looks stunning. I own many Chanel quads and reach for them so often. This new Enigma made me think for one moment whether or not I should purchase it because I already have Mystic Eyes and was a bit worried this would be too similar. Well it is NOT, it's definately a quad in it's own league. This is by far the most pigmented quad. The colours on its own are gorgeous but blended and mixed are stunning as well. So don't think it's similar as Mystic Eyes because it's not. Have a go and you will find yourself reaching for it often.

If I could give this a 4.5 I would, it's simply a bit too shimmery + less pigmented than what I'm used to (matte black liner, soft shimmery lid shade is my fav.), but then again, those are the reasons I purchased it (it's not the same thing I have 945790438 duplicate copies of). Chanel shadows seem to glow. I'm a die-hard LM fan, but Chanel seems to offer more refinement on occasion. The pink is a sheer, flesh tone that softens out to a gold-pink tone, barely perceptible from my own skin tone. The gray shows up as a cool, bluish gray shimmer, very nice when blended with a black or over a black. The plum seems to be the deepest, and reveals itself as neither too cool or warm undertoned. But it is def. plum-purple, a bit too colorful for my usu neutrals. The star of the quad is the khaki green tone. Not sure how to express my love for this shade, but it is fantastic. I usually steer away from any e/s that contains even a hit of anything resembling green (as they usu make my green eyes look muddy), but this really blends nicely with my own eye color and the overall effect is a hazey, golden-green smokey look. For the price per shadow, and per ounce of shadow, this is a great investment to throw some color and softness into your routine.. I have to wet my brush to use them as a liner, and even then the effect is very soft. I still have to tightline with a black and these wear considerably better over a smudged out black along my lashline. The shimmer is a bit stronger than what I'm used to and there was considerable fall-out of shimmer, making this not day-appropriate for what I usu prefer. This is a great night product to add some glow and depth. The pink is nice for a base, throw in something to line/tighline and then soften the line with one of the deeper tones layered overtop. Very soft, pretty effect overall.

Edit: Knocking it down to a 4 b/c for the name and quality I'vecome to expect with Chanel, I'd expect less shimmer and/or shimmer that is more finely milled and stays put. I look like a shimmery explosion, not in an urban decay way, but just that there's shimmer fall-out and this is much better left for night, which isnt' as versatile as I'd have liked, esp for the price. That said, the colors are impeccable.

Oh Enigma, I love you!! This is by far the most beautiful pallet Chanel ever made. They should make this permanent but it's LE so if you're after it... hurry up because it's very popular. The colors in the pallet are special and they go perfect together! I have a few pallets but there always seem to be a color in it that I don't use and I end up wondering why they decided to toss that specific color in. Not so for this pallet. Everything matches and makes sense. Staying power is great. Don't know about the American version, but the European one is backed and therefore harder to blend but that should not be a problem.
Although the colors are dark and it's meant to create a smokey eye, I find that you can easily wear this overday. Of course you can make it more intense for a night out.

I love these colors. They make a great smoky eye. The pigment is deeper than other quads from Chanel. I am happy with my purchase. The packaging could be a little fancier for the price.

I lusted forever for this quad, and finally got it, I had seen it in the store, but had to order online as they were out, As usual, the colors differed in natural light, and didn't look quite the same when I got it home. Still nice colors, but not to die for, I was a little disappointed with the texture of the shadows...I thought they were a little chalky and hard to blend. They also had more shimmer/glitter then I remember. The colors are very nice, but I find it very difficult to do anything other than a dark smoky eye...Of all the colors, the greenish silver looks the best on me...I like this quad, but not love, which is a shame for the price. I'll keep it for special nighttime occassions.

I am loving this shadow quad! As an owner (and lover!) of Mystic Eyes, I was somewhat hesitant to get this, but once I got it home and swatched them side by side, I knew that I didn't make a mistake in purchasing Enigma!

Other reviewers have done a good job describing the colors, so I won't go into detail there. What I will say is that these shadows seem somewhat more pigmented than other Chanel quads (some of the quads I've had in the past only give a sheer wash) -- so you can really feel free to build this up to a dramatic smokey eye, or do a simple look for the office.

For reference, I have light-beige skin with dark hair and eyes.

Ugh...This quad is perfection. I'm loving it. I appreciate the fact that I can blend the colours out for a more low-key, daytime look or really layer them on for a heavier night look.

The colours all work together - typical of a Chanel quad. I also like to use the darker colours wet with an eyeliner brush instead of pencil eyeliner as I personally feel that it ties the whole look in - it looks more polished imo.

For me it lasts really well. For instance I did my makeup this morning at around 8am and it's now 10:41pm and there's only the smallest hint of fading.

I have light blue eyes and pale, pale skin and this compliments both my eye and skin colour. In all, this is a beautiful quad and it doesn't fail to deliver :-)

I am very fair with lots of eye lid space so I cannot do a smokey eye without it looking over-the-top. Until I purchased this quad! The three dark colors are dark, but sheer, so it works for me. The picture attached to the reviews for this item is a really good picture. The pink has a gold sheen so it doen't scream pink when worn, b/c the gold really warms it up. The other colors: khaki, gray, and dark purple all have fine sparkles in them, but I do not experience fall out as the other girls below. If sparkles can be classy, Chanel's the brand that can do it. I love this quad and it's totally worth the price tag. and one more note: swatches of this palette seem to look terrible, so don't go by swatches even it you swatch it on yourself. I'm not sure why it doesn't swatch good.

Pictures and Swatches at the end of this review. If you're a Chanel fan, then you know it's hard for them to disappoint! There's always something in their collections for everyone!
For me, this collection repromoted Jade Rose, brought a beautiful nail color (Paradoxal) and the eye shadows really called out to me!
After swatching the Enigma Quad at my local counter, I could not leave without having it! The shadows are so pigmented and smooth. Not chalky and a bit different this time. They have tiny little micro glitter. The best part is, it didn't fall all over my face when I used it. And it's so subtle, you can only see it if it catches the light just right.
Overall, this quad is great for smokey eyes and doesn't really have a great browbone highlight. But you can definitely use this in combination with other colors. The colors are long lasting and didn't crease on me (I use TFSI underneath all EOTDs).
Here are a few pictures of the quad itself and swatches on my NC40 skin. None of them are with flash.

Here I tried to capture the blue sparkle in the darkest shade:
