This is definitely an effective product, depending on how quickly you use it too. Put it on the second you feel the horrific tingle, and it'll clear up faster than a coldsore would naturally. Nprmally mine take about two weeks to heal, but if i'm using this its only a week, scabbing included (nasty but true :P ) Also, it's pretty expensive from chemists, but i've found stocking up in the duty free is a good plan as it's cheaper there.

I've purchased this several times over the years (by Rx only) & find that it's the only product to treat annoying coldsores that actually works.
I've tried Abreva (several tubes of it) as well as other lipcare products targeted against coldsores, but they don't work & often cost a lot of money for nothing.
Zovirax costs a lot as well (depending on your prescription insurance plan, or outright out of pocket expense) but a 15g tube lasts me for years (well beyond the exp date).
When I sense the tingle of a coldsore coming on, applying this ointment (several times a day) often prevents the outbreak altogether. And if I've already unfortunately developed a coldsore overnight in my sleep, using this ointment actually shortens the duration of the outbreak & minimizes the embarrassment & damage it causes.
The 2 negative things about it is it tastes nasty (very bitter) & is drying to my lips, so I can't wait to finish the need to use it whenever I have to.
But my unchecked coldsores take 2-3 wks to heal naturally, so if this ointment reduces the time down to 4 days or a week, that's a godsend.
