The colour turned out purple-y, which is my favourite colour for nail polishes so I was okay with it :D Lasted fairly long, maybe 5-6 days without a top coat?

A nice grey for tan girls. I am between a NC37-40 and this polish looks great on me. I think it flatters my tan skin tone well. Love the brush this polish comes with, I can easily coat the whole nail in one swipe. Plus the formula is excellent for a drugstore polish, it goes on very smoothly. It becomes opaque after about two coats. I really like the glass bottle it comes in, looks very nice. Will repurchase again and again.

Color is to die for; very tasteful neutral gray with a nice hit of mauve to keep it from being boring. It is a bit tricky to get it to go on smoothly and I had to clean it off the edges of several cuticles. It's easy to have it to on too thick and have it be a bit messy, or too thin and have to do a third coat. Most nails turned out nicely with only two coats and only the pinky of my off-hand has marks I'm a little dissatisfied with. Aside from that, the brush marks all vanished when the polish dried. Dries quickly.
The thick brush is, so to speak, a double-edged sword; it makes it easier to cover the whole nail quickly but it also makes it hard to touch up the edges without getting polish on your cuticles. I haven't painted my nails in a while so I may just need a little practice - actually, it looks pretty good considering how long it's been since I did this. So factor that when considering my complaints about application - if yr used to this brush, probably you won't have any trouble as the texture is very consistent.
Considering I paid less than $3 for this on sale I'm definitely pleased. It looks like a much more expensive polish. Bought this on positive recommendations from other MUA reviews and am dead keen on the color. Just hope I get good wear out of it, as other MUAs have reported!

I really like the polish. But, I HATE the brush. I understand the concept of a big brush, to cover more nail and get a nice even coat, but I just can't get used to it. I find it much easier to apply evenly with a smaller brush.
But the colour of this polish is beautiful. It looks very high end.

NC25 Chinese yellow skin tones.
I am not much of a pedicure person, but I love my open toed heels.. so the nails get painted. :) I don't make a point to own alot of polishes, but would love to eventually get a HG for each major color family that I would care to wear. THIS is the HG for my winter wear of purple taupe!
FYI, compared to OPI Metro Chic, this is a shade lighter (but I'm agnostic to the color btwn the 2)... I choose Rimmel's handsdown for the wide brush and superior formula compared to OPI's streakier formula.

Definitely somewhere in my top 3 favorite nail polishes. This color is so beautiful. I only found it through MUA reviews and looking at it in store I couldn't really get the hype over it, but I bought it anyway- so glad I did! It looks so much prettier on nail than bottle for some reason. On me it pulls more purple but the color is just so unique and chic. Also I really love Rimmel's formula- it glides on PERFECTLY, the brush is awesome. And it lasts a while without chipping, especially with base and top coat.

I absolutely love Rimmel nail polish! The application brush is superior to any other brand I've used, besides Lise Watier and unfortunately Lise Watier is quite pricey and the colours seem to come and go quickly by season.
Rimmel offers a superior polish, easy to apply, dries fairly quickly and without any bumps even if 2nd coat is applied right after the first coat. I love the Steel Grey shade and it has become my new favourite, almost year round! If you love this colour but want to punch it up a bit, just add another colour to the Steel Grey - I added a little fuschia to it and got an amazing new shade to wear.
Thanks Rimmel for giving us a reasonably priced polish, that's easy to apply and comes in great colours anyone can wear!

I bought steel grey on a whim and I nearly spilled polish everywhere when I took the wand out and discovered that Rimmel's brush is a dead duplicate of Dior Vernis! the wide, fine brush with the beautifully curved edge that makes Dior Vernis practically apply itself. Packaging an instant 5, because vernis is the nicest brush out there. if you haven't tried Vernis because of the price point, try this at a fraction of the cost. you deserve a polish brush this good.
As for the colour, Steel grey is a gorgeous taupe gray with the hint of violet that makes it stand apart from the rest of my taupe gray collections (I am bananas about neutral polishes.)
for application, steel gray was perfectly opaque in two coats. I will stalk this brand for as long as it lasts. that brush is amazing.

Amazing color. Good wear and application, although I don't like the wide, flat brush.

I think of all the polishes I own, this is my favorite. I love the color. It's pretty and neutral enough to wear with anything. It's glossy, inexpensive and lasts a lot longer than other, more expensive brands I've tried.

I actually just bought this nailpolish just now and i had to try it and.....i love this nailpolish! All i can say is that the finish is awesome, with just two coats the colour is really opaque and glossy and i just love the brush that it comes with! It's about more than twice the width of a normal nail polish brush, which i actually prefer. I havent exactly worn this ou for more than a day so I can't really say anything if it lasts for 10 days or not...

This is seriously the greatest nail polish ever. It wipes the floor with Essie, OPI, China Glaze... you name it. The Lasting Finish formula is amazing anyway, definitely more of a creme finish, with a wider brush than you'd traditionally find on a polish. The color is a gorgeous, steely purplish gray... Perfect for winter but I wouldn't hesitate to wear this year round, as it's so versatile. I got this on sale at Target for under 3 dollars but the full retail price is still totally worth it. DEFINITELY going to repurchase.

This is a great polish. The color is that perfect shade of grey/purple - very understated and classy. The brush is fat and easy to apply polish with, and it lasts quite a while. I would definitely buy one of polishes again!

This is the perfect neutral color!! I love the brush that comes with this polish because it makes applying the polish so easy and I feel like I don't have to use as many coats. I've kept going back to this color and my sister keeps borrowing it. I will definitely repurchase when I run out.

ON TREND! This is a fabulous color for fall. It's a grauve ( grey/mauve). This color looks great on me and I have cool pink undertones to my skin. The brush is the best nail polish brush I have ever come across in my 30 years of wearing the stuff. It's a wider flatter brush that holds the perfect amount of polish to enable you to get the perfect swipe from base to tip. The brush bristles are slightly firmer which allows for better control. Whoever designed this brush - WELL DONE! Add this color to your collection girls!!

I have written a lot of reviews on MUA and there aren't too many that are for nail polish. Why? Because I find them all to be the same really...or I did until this one. I am blown away by how much I like these Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro nail polishes. I purchased this after trying it last week in Burgundy Flirt and just had to have another one. The color Steel Grey is different than anything else I have and sort of looks more like a mauvy/brown on my nails (2 coats) than a grey. Quite pretty actually.
Pros and Cons (wore it last week in a different color):
Pros:
1. When I first pulled the brush out of the bottle, I thought it was gloppy, but found that it was because of the brush which is so different from anything I've used before. It's wider and has a curve at the end, perfect for both covering the nail more efficiently and cleanly to the cuticle. Just be careful not to overload the brush!
2. The gloss is wonderful! Beautiful glossy shine!
3. Dried pretty quickly. I put on 2 coats and it covered nicely, no streaking.
4. Most important to me -- the wear. The wear was unbelievable! I work in a computer lab so am constantly on a keyboard and messing with cables etc. I never got a chip and I wore it for 1 week. It wore at the end of the nail, but never chipped. I easily touched it up at the ends mid-week. I removed it yesterday with no problem.
5. The price. Very affordable. I believe I paid $4.49 at CVS.
Cons:
1. A very limited line of colors! I was very surprised at this. I really wish they'd expand their line! I'd love to see a dark purple, but they don't have one (or I didn't see one anyway). It basically goes from pale pink, to fushia, to red, to burgundy, to black. The Steel Grey is in there somewhere.
That's the only Con I could come up with. I love this stuff and totally recommend it!
04/14/12 - I get so many compliments on this color, it's unbelievable. I've worn it several times so really don't think much about it until someone says "omg, I love your nail polish". Out of all the Rimmel nail colors, this is the one I get complimented on every single time I wear it!

This is my favorite polish shade for fall. It's a gorgeous dark taupe creme that can skew mauve or brown depending on the light. It's perfectly opaque in two coats and applies oh so smoothly. And for the super low price, this polish is a must have.
The new Rimmel brush does take a little bit of getting used to at first. It's extra wide and the bristles taper into a wide oval shape at the bottom. Because the brush is so wide it holds loads of polish, so take care to unload the excess before putting the brush to your nail or you may end up flooding your nail. Once you get accustomed to the proper amount of polish to leave on the brush, the oval-shaped taper makes it so easy to get right up close to your cuticle and keep a clean rounded edge. The extra wide brush also means fewer strokes are needed to finish a coat, so your mani will go much faster. Love it!
So if you're looking for a moody, slightly edgy yet classy color for fall, I highly recommend this polish. The picture with the product description (Rimmel, Lasting Finish Pro, Steel Grey) in the bottom left hand corner is my swatch - I used OPI base coat, two coats of Steel Grey, and Seche Vite top coat. Check it out!
