Application: You apply this product like moisturizer. Piece of cake! Score: 5/5
Texture: This gel is frighteningly dark. It looks a bit like molten caramel… with sparkle. Now that is scary. The gel texture itself is very pleasant, though. Score: 3/5
Smell: It’s not completely odorless, but this product definitely doesn’t smell like self-tanner. Score: 3/5
Results: I’m officially tan thanks to this gel! I like that you can build up the color, but I don’t like that this product turns me slightly orange if I use more than one layer. I’m not really convinced. Score: 2/5
Total score: 13/20

I like the color of this because I'm not orange, nor peach and when I was younger (and fooliish) iand tanned my fair olive skin, I looked brown w/red/pink undertones like this imparts. I only wear red based bronzers for the same reason, and due to that its been hard to find a self tanner for my body that matches my face. I use non latex gloves to apply this because it will stain hands badly and not wash off easily. Also I must use sparingly on the top of my hands and first moisturize them very well because I have dry skin and it can adhere to dry patches and look redder. For me this looks best over a base of self tanner and also applied to moisturized skin. The pump on mine did not work so I decanted it into a small bottle with one, and I think its a fluke as no one else has mentioned it. This reminds me of the Bonne Bell bronzer in a tube. It has not stained clothing. Its not perfect but it has its uses given there are few drugstore prices wash off bronzers and though it wwould be better a little less red, its a step in the right direction having a red based bronzer at all.

This product was a serious disappointment. The idea is awesome- a gel you can smear on to make yourself tan until your next shower. I'm not sure if it's my pale, olive skin tone, but it went on reddish- More like a burn than a tan! It stuck much better to the palms of my hands than my body! If you sweat, or it rains, or you touch something wet, it will come off, possible onto your clothes. On the positive, is has a faint pleasant smell, and so long as you rub it on evenly before it dries, you won't streak. I do NOT recommend this.

Great product for when you need the color, but only need it for a day like a special occasion because it looks natural and washes off end of day. You must wait about 5 minutes to insure its dry before dressing or it will transfer.

I am feeling this product!
I use this as an additional add-on over my regular self tanner. It adds an extra "umph". I don't think it would tan me enough by itself, but on top of my self tanner it really brings a glow. I also REALLY like how it sinks right into my skin quickly and does NOT RUB OFF! This is the issue with most wash off bronzers out there. They have a glittery, shimmery texture that sits on top of my skin and wipes off on everything! My clothing, other people's clothing...you name it. I even marked my friends wedding dress about a year back from accidentally touching her dress with my arm. This stuff acts like a stain, but only lasts one day.
I really dig it! I'll be buying another one. And, it's CHEAP!
Just say no to being pale. I think this even outdoes my beloved Lorac Tantalizer. I'm sick of that stuff rubbing off on EVERYTHING!

This is OK for touch ups but I wouldnt use this as my sole self-tanner. I may combine it with the Loreal Sublime Bronze instant tanner and see what happens.
This stuff has reddish/pink undertones that kind of makes my ghostly pale skin look like a pinkish piggy skin.
I wouldn't wear this stuff with shorts in bright daylight but at the club a definite maybe.

This stinks and the concept is good it being wash off and all but the problem is the color is a little on the orange side. In general this will give you a fake tan look especially in natural light..ugh! You could get away with it in a dark smokey room pub probably...but this is not practical for everyday use. I like a bronzer to work in all situations and look natural so this is not for me.

I LOVE this stuff.
Almost all self-tanners look unnatural to me - I can always tell when a tan is from the sun or from a bottle. This gives me a color that looks like I've actually been outside, not that orange shade I get with 99% of self-tanners.
I moisturize before I put it on - very important, since it's a gel and not a lotion that blends easily. I blend and blend and blend and then use a hair dryer. It doesn't take long to dry and it really stays and doesn't transfer to my clothing.
It does stain my hands if I don't scrub well afterward. Sometimes I have to use baking soda or a scrub to get all the color off.
This also looks good over the Hawaiian Tropic self tanner I use - makes that color look more natural.

Ughh - not liking this at all! I am sensitive to smells, and the smell of this is overpowering (and, for some reason, smells like self tanner on me, even though it is not a self tanner). I have dry skin, so this was very streaky on me. I am also fair, and, like other reviewers said, it eventually made me look sun burnt! I have heard Perfekt is good, but scared to drop that kind of money. The search continues. . .

As I am allergic to the DHA ingredient in fake tans, I can only use wash off "tans"! This is great, it gives me a nice deep, even colour, which lasts till I shower. I find that it would come off on clothes etc, even after letting it dry. I have not found one wash off tan doesn't..

On my 3rd bottle , so you know I am a fan. So confident with this stuff, I put it on and go to the gym before I work out. It is a fantastic one day tint that adds a real colour and makes your skin look great.
Yes, wash palms after applying. It does sink in and dry fast, thats a big plus and you never have to worry about how you apply as you can see where the colour is going.
A perfect tan every day can be yours in about 5 minutes.

LOVE this stuff! I used to have something similar from Mark but it went south and I had missed it terribly. I've done a lot of self-tanning but no matter what I do or what I use there's always some kind of drawback related to application - specifically, if it sets awkwardly, you're screwed. With this stuff, you get your color, but what you see when you put it on is actually what you get. It doesn't matter to me that it doesn't have any actual tanning action, because I was surprised to find that, unless you really scrub it off, this stuff can stay on for a very long time.
The one major drawback is what it does to your hands (or did to mine, at least): this stuff stained my palms worse than anything I've ever used. I wound up having to use my Salux (multiple times) after scrubbing with sugar didn't help. I don't like how they affect application, but I think next time I may have to wear gloves.
ETA: I see other reviewers have commented on the color of this, and while I don't disagree, on me I know this isn't far from the color I turn naturally (I tend to burn, then tan, and this stuff made me look somewhere in the middle). Something that were more of a true brown tint just wouldn't look right on me.

I really want to like this product but I have to figure out how to work with it becuase it can work against you! I am a golden/caramel tan in the summer so I figured this would help keep my color from fading. I also have oily/combo skin.
The 1st attemp: I used it alone without foundation and applied a neutral colored loose powder over it to help with the shine. It looked great at first but a few hours later my face was an oily, splotchy, funky brown/red colored mess. I was applying pressed powder throughout the day.
2nd attempt I actually mixed a squirt of bronzer with my liquid foundation then applied loose power. It's only been a few hours later but so far so good. I have some shine but not enough to apply pressed powder yet. The foundation has kept the ruddiness at bay for now. I do notice that the color of my neck doesn't match my face so I'll try applying bronzer to that area tomorrow.
UPDATE: MAY 2011 - All in all I do like this product. It gives me a "tanned" look that washes off at the end of the day. If you are looking for a gradual tanner, this product is not it as it did not leave my skin looking tan once I washed it off. There was no gradual tanning with this product - it was simply a liquid bronzer that washed off - but that is what i was looking for so it worked for me. Also, you have to experiment with it to get it to work for you - as mentioned above, at first it made my face a funky color but mixing it with my foundation helped. It's expensive so if you don't like it, you're stuck wasting $10 or so on it. Oh and one last thing - make sure to wash your hands after applying - it does tint them orange but again, its only a tint and it does wash off so don't forget to wash!

I have fair skin, and one coat of this gave me a nice, subtle tan. Gloves are an absolute MUST for this product. Without gloves, the product will just absorb into your hands instead of your body. I learned this the hard way, but luckily all the stain came off my hands by just washing them. I didn't have latex gloves at home so I used dishwashing gloves and they worked fine. Just keep rubbing the gel into your skin til it's nice and even. Some people are saying the colour is too red. I found the colour to be just right. Also, the slight bit of shimmer went away after it dried. This will rub off on light coloured clothing though, so be warned. All in all, a decent product, though I will probably keep shopping around. I don't like paying $16 for bronzer haha.

I loved the idea of this but the product needs some work. The color of this product is very red- I thought this would be a good thing cause sometimes I use self tanner and this would counteract the orange tint that that causes, but the red is so predominant that it turns me an unflattering shade-especially when I use it on my face. When I used it all over my friends thought I had been sun burnt. I also don't like this product on legs-it settles into my hair follicles and makes it look like my legs are covered by lots of little red dots. This stuff does not layer at all either, in fact I have to make sure to blend it super fast cause once I rub it after it is dry it balls up and makes weird streaks-very hard to blend. This stuff is also not water resistant at all so I would make sure if you are going to wear it that there is no chance of rain and that you are not going to be anywhere you might get splashed by water.

FOR SHAME L'oreal. I'm easy to please not very picky but UGH this stuff is a joke. As a reviewer listed below me makes you look red so you some out looking sun burned. They cailm you can layer but thats not true. Even after exfoliating and waiting for the 1st layer to dry about 10 minutes the 2nd layer balls up. It doesn't blend worth a darn and it also doesn't wash off your hands as it claims as well. SKIP IT!

This product could have been perfect if it weren't for one very important thing: the color. I had read several of the reviews that complained about the color, but I was hopeful that it would turn out well on me. After all, I wasn't so much seeking a tan, but rather something that would add a temporary hint of color to my milky-white skin. It did add color, but instead of a golden or brown color, it was a reddish-brown. It made me look more sunburned than sunkissed.
This product has mostly favorable factors: it's inexpensive, easy to find, streak free, doesn't smell bad, dries quickly, and washes off easily. It's truly unfortunate that its one negative, happens to be a big one.

I tried this product because I liked the idea that it would last one day and you could wash it off with soap and water. Thank goodness for that because this left me with the most unnatural color. My skin was left with a strange orangey-red color. Thankfully I was able to wash it off. I will definitely not be repurchasing this as I was very disappointed with the color this give my skin.

I HATE THIS WITH A PASSION TOO! I am fairly pale and this made me look a very unnatural shade of reddish orange. My palms were stained red after trying this and I had to scrub several times to get it off. I hope I can find my receipt!!
