If you have dry flaky itchy eyelids I highly recommend using this product. My eyelids were driving me crazy with the flaking and itching and swelling. I'm not sure what caused it but I have tried several other creams, balms, lotions, oils, etc. and nothing was helping long term. After the first use of this product, I noticed a huge difference and I think my problem is finally solved. I had seen other reviews that stated this worked so I half heartedly gave it a shot and am so happy I did. If you're suffering from the same problem, give this a try. It will last forever as you need such a teeny amount and also, it is quite heavy but upon application it turns more liquidy and feels wonderful and soothing. I suggest using this at night before bed. I don't think it would work well for daytime as it's quite greasy and I doubt it would be good under makeup. Hope I've helped someone !! :)

Love! I'm a recent convert and am so pleasantly surprised at how well this product rehydrates and moisturizes, and how multi-purpose it is. I've been using it on my hands and cuticles, and within two days of use, my cuticles are completely rehabbed. This stuff has also healed the sore, dry patches on my knuckles that came from neglecting my hands in the harsh Canadian winter. I pat a thin layer on my face at bedtime, and wake up with beautifully hydrated and glowing skin. This stuff is fast becoming a medicine cabinet staple, and I will continue to repurchase when I run out.

I bought this after reading how the 'stars' use it... hoping to find something to either add to or supplement my standard night cream. It is rather greasy and smells JUST LIKE band-aids (my hubby says each night, "hello, band-aids" when I get into bed), but - the packaging is nice, you get a LOT for the money (all it takes is the size of a pea, spread it out with your fingertips, dab on and gently rub in), and you can use it all over your face - I use it overtop my eye cream, on my lashes, and on my lips. It does take hours to absorb (just sleep on your side or back), but --- your skin will be SO soft in the morning! And it does help heal little boo-boos... scratches or what-not - I had a bug bite on my face (yikes), and I put this on there after using some witch hazel - boom, bug bite gone. I also use it on my hands, what's leftover after putting it on my face. My cuticles have become softer and my hands are no longer scary sandpaper-looking things. If you can handle the smell; give it a shot. I have not broken out at all using this product, and I normally have sensitive skin. I will continue to use and buy this product - it is a great addition to the beauty regimen!

I started using 6% hydroquione 3% kojic acid .5% retinol cream to get rid of my melasma on my cheeks and forehead. Although i am winning the battle against brown patches, it left my skin raw, sunburned and peeling. i tried everything from creme de la mer (sample size thank goodness), vaseline, aloe vera cream, ultra calming cream from dermalogica and countless others and it still felt my skin was on FIRE when i put on the creams. after work today i was going to go to my local nordstroms and pick up a $195 cream by erno laszlo but decided against it last minute thankfully. i went home and removed my makeup and in my medicine cabinet i saw the tube of EA 8 hour cream i purchased a while ago and figured i wouldn't hurt (no pun intended) to try it out and see what happens. at last,,,, it did not sting or burn or cause more irritation to my already red, sensitve skin. i was shocked and relieved! i spent all this money on other crap that didnt work and this $19 tube of loveliness was just sitting there and saved my face! yes, it's a bit greasy and i don't really care for the smell too much- to me it smells a bit like preparation H ointment but it did the trick. i am so relieved. i read they came out w/a unscented version and i will have to check it out when i run out. i am not too too concerned but i am more curious how it will handle my day tomorrow.. i have to wear this tomorrow at work since i need my face to heal... we shalll see if end up looking super shiney and greasy by the end of the day. i guess less is more right?

I have the version in the squeezable tube.
I use it for scrapes, lips, under my nose, if I've been blowing it a lot. I've also used it INSIDE my nose during the harsh colder months. Works wonders.
The smell... I'm not a fan, but I've heard about the new scentless version. When I run out, I'll probably check that out.

I love using this as a lip treatment overnight. A little on the expensive side but you get a lot of product for the money and it is going to last for ages.
The smell is a slightly herbal grapefruit that I quite like.
I use this depending on the state of my lips on a given day. Some days I will just use Vaseline or Rosebud Salve, or a good shea butter, all of which I love, but when the lips have had a rough day, I can feel the difference of using this instead.
You know when you wake up in the middle of the night, and you are thirsty and your lips are dry, because you are addicted to lip balm and you need it on at all times? And you must apply immediately or else you won't be able to get to sleep again?
Dear reader, I make it through the whole night with this stuff.
Would like a little tube to fit in my bag but the price is not worth it to me. Better value getting the full size.

I would be lost without this product! I use it more as a lip balm than anything else but it just sinks into your lips and leaves them so smooth and soft. I'm on an acne medication called Roaccutane at the moment, and my lips have gotten EXTREMELY dry and cracked and this is the only thing that works and takes that uncomfortable feeling away. I also use it for any dry patches of skin and it works amazing! Will repurchase.. forever! :)

Yes, this is overpriced, but I dig it none the less. I love a good multi-purpose product - this works on chapped lips as well as little scrapes, but it is especially amazing at keeping your hands from cracking on long distance flights or during cold winters. Personally, I like the medicinal smell as well as the heavy texture - the thickness of the product ensures it forms a protective barrier that keeps your skin from drying out. I also like that a little goes a very long way. Do try and get yours duty free at the airport to save a couple of bucks ;)

After so much buzz on this product, I hate to admit that I was a little disappointed when i tried it. I even hate it more when I am making comparison of it to a regular Vaseline.
Claimed to be a multi-purpose cream that can be applied across dry and chapped areas of the skin....it's definitely an iconic product that pretty much represented EA.
i have very dry cuticles, and diligently apply them....I was disappointed to say that it does not do much to heal the dryness. Applied this on my lips, it was not extraordinary as well. Other drug-store lip balms have exceeded my expectations. I have not tried this on my skin, and would not recommend this to anyone unless you suffer from extremely dry skin.
I may not have found the correct method to use this....but I am beginning to get more convinced that this is just an upper-class version of Vaselline we have in our local Tesco.

You'll probably get the same effect with Vaseline and save yourself a lot of money.
This product is too expensive for what it is. Also, it smells pretty strong and awful. I wouldn't use it on my face as it's extremely rich and could cause break-outs. I'd restrict it to only areas where skin is extremely dry.
Initially thought I'd try this product out due to the fact it had a bit of a celebrity following. Obviously now I realise that was foolish. Celebrities can afford to splash out on products like this instead of going for good ol' Vaseline.
It just didn't deliver anything other than being an okay moisturiser. I probably would've give it a higher rating if it wasn't so expensive/over-hyped and the smell wasn't so horrible.

I have to give this product a really average review. My brother gave me a present of this (mine came in the long squeeezy white tube) for Christmas. I was really excited because I had heard great things about it and it's such a cult product. I know it is multi-purpuse and supposed to be a great facial night moisturiser but I get really dry chapped lips, especially in Winter so I used it mostly on my lips. Unfortunately, it didn't really help with the chapping and cracking and I found that it doesn't absorb well or last long. If you eat or drink it's gone straight away. Then one day I heard a tip to apply it to lips before showering and it combines with the steam of the shower to work like an intensive treatment for lips. I tried this and I have to say that my lips felt great afterwards.
I carry the 8 hour cream in my handbag anyway as it's pretty handy. I might buy it again but my go-to lip care has to be the original carmex I've yet to find something as good as this for healing sore lips.

This makes a nice lip balm and can be used to apply a sheen to the eye lids.
I hate the packaging though it is hard to squeeze all of the product out of the tube and the twist off top can be akward.

I really wanted to add to the amazing reviews I have read for this cream! I purchased it in the hope it would keep my lips moisturised for more than 20mins(I am currently on accutane which causes extremely dry lips!) and unfortunately it does not. Oh well, Im still glad I bought it to try it out! I'm sure it still good for cuts and scrapes and dry patches of skin.. well hopefully!

8 hour cream, where have you been all of my life?
I now see why this over priced Vaseline is a cult product. I don't know what magic fairy potion goes into this, but those magic ingredients make the difference between a tub of petroleum jelly and some healing magic. Its the only product I've found that works on my lips this winter (from low to super high end lip balms). Lovely as a gloss, or to put on your cheek bones if you want a bit of a highlight. Perfect under lipsticks that can be drying (I'm looking at you Nars Funny Face!) Cuticles, elbows, chapped skin... poof! gone.
I got this at Marshalls for $8, but would buy again full price. Though a little goes a long way so despite using every day in a number of different ways, I can't see rebuying this anytime soon.

So I bought this cream because the packaging is really cute. I only saw one review on youtube which was kinda sad. This is the vintage one so, it has the 80's design. It's an overall skin protectant so you can use it anywhere but I don't recommend using it on your face because it's just like a petroleum jelly. I use it on my cuticles and my lips. Although I really don't like the taste of it. Overall, it's okay. I had a hard time getting a regular petroleum jelly and I keep losing my lip balms so I bought this. Plus, when I bought this Elizabeth Arden had a bonus that came with any of your purchase at least $25. So that was cool. I got a purse, a lotion, a palette, and lip glosses.

Have been buying this for the past 9 years. Will be repurchasing for the next 99. I love this. For me, it solves a lot. I literally have this in my bag at all times. I have used this as a quick lip balm (prefer the protectant stick for lips, but in a pinch..), various cuts, burns and abrasions, skin that's getting ready to blister because of a snug fitting sandal, dry skin on my my face and a scaly, bald patch on my cat's back. Everything healed brilliantly. (Didn't kill my cat and his bald patch even grew in.. coincidence? hmm..) I love this "cream" for my "Happy Cow" pedicure. Whole milk foot soak, pumice thoroughly and then saturate in 8 Hour Cream, cover with big woolly socks, go to bed. ~La la la~ Expect happy feet.
~update~
The brilliant minds that helm Elizabeth Arden New York have recently launched to their permanent collection a FRAGRANCE FREE VERSION of Eight Hour Cream. FRAGRANCE FREE!!! I actually squealed at the EA counter when I spied this treasure. It has the same famous color and texture as the original sans the hearty fragrance. There are NO fails with this product. The price is still a bit steep ($30 CND), but I will gladly pay it. This is genius!

I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the smell of this product. Some days I think it smells quite nice, but on rare occasions I don't use it because I don't want to smell like it! It's an overly herbal-meets-chemically smell. Having said that, it's mostly forgivable because this product rocks! I use it on flaking, chapped lips in winter, on my nose to fix annoying peeling when I've been blowing my nose too much, on ratty cuticles, dry hands, dry heels, elbows, small cuts and scabs. It also works as a bit of a lip gloss! My cuticles have never been so soft, and it actually speeds up the healing process of things like mosquito bites (I usually take two weeks or more to heal, applying Eight Hour Cream helped sooth a bite in two days). I love the pot form as opposed to the tube, as it's easier to monitor how much I use with the pot, often you only need the smallest amount for a good effect! And the packaging is so cute, I have a limited edition 1950s style packaging and I love it. Great product. Will definitely be buying again for forever!

EDIT::: ok unfortunatley i have to down grade this after my first review....turns out it is WAY to harsh on my skin, took me a good few days to recover my skin it was like a mild burn- i had to salvage it with my astral cream and rose & co salve!!!
my review is very short- brilliant stuff very multi functional and well i actually love the smell-isee it seems to be an issue to some people but i really love the anti bacterial type smell!

I love love love this!! I bought it in a kit from duty free after a trip and it also contained the lip protector and hand cream.
The product doesnt look great- kinda waxy but once smoothed onto parched skin you see why its a cult product.
I use it all year round, in the winter I use it when the skin round my nose gets sore and on my lips. In the summer I use it if I catch the sun on my face.
It also leaves a sexy sheen on my cheekbone if used very lightly as a highlight.
Just a tiny smudge will sooth any dry or sensitive skin.
It looses a point because it is a tad pricey at first even if it does seem to last forever!!!
Not bothered by the smell at all, it smells like its doing you some good!!!

First, the bad: 1.) it looks like ear wax and smells bad, and 2.) it's basically over-priced vasaline. However, whatever extra ingredients they put in that traditional vasaline doesn't have seems to make all the difference. vasaline for me always just sits on top of the skin and never moisturizes deep down; this does, and that is why I haven't been without it since I was 14. I can't use it on my face as it would be break-out city, but it's got a million and one other uses. dry hands? fixed. thrashed cuticles? nothing but a bad memory. rough, dry heels, elbows, etc.? smooth as silk. I have tried dozens of pomades and hair creams over the years, and nothing works better than this for fly-a-ways. luckily you need to use so little of it that a jar will last years, so it's not really that expensive all things considered.
