After reading the reviews I thought it might work really well for some people and not so well for others. But it's only $6, so I thought I might as well give it a try.
I usually just put on this primer and concealer in some spots. I've used it for about a week now.
I haven't noticed any more acne than usual, though I don't break out very much anyway. I use it with the e.l.f. makeup mist and set and it lasts for at least 8 hours. One con would be the weird texture--it just feels really slippery and takes some time to dry. Other than that I really don't have any complaints. It reacted well with my skin and is what I consider a good value.

PRO: applies evenly and feels very smooth on face.
CON: (1) did not combat flaky dryness as promised; (2) made my face break out a little; (3) nightmare pump is so short in length (it reaches down only to the bottom of the cap) so it fails to reach 95% of the product in the bottle, I had to use popsicle stick to scrape product out.

I had high hopes for this primer. It feels amazing on my skin and really works to make my face smooth and even and perfect for putting on makeup.
I went to the Brazilian Embassy for an event, feeling like a queen but I saw one picture the day after, and sadly, my t-zone was already shiny (albeit not as oily as normal) within 3 hours from putting on my makeup.
As a base, this is really good, but I wish it stopped my face's oil production more effectively.
The quest for a cheap but effective primer is not yet over.

I found this poking around Target and bought it on a lark. I figured for $6 if it didn't work, it wouldn't be a disaster. Well, surprise surprise, it's probably the best 6 bucks I've spent ever. It goes on smooth and works all day. To put in perspective, my skin is so oily, I stopped wearing foundation after June; My face would turn into a disgusting mess of melted foundation by noon. I get super shiny after an hour without some kind of primer under my foundation. This stuff is amazing. I can't believe it's so cheap.

This is the first primer I've ever used, and I'm really impressed with it and will likely not switch primers (unless I discover another one that performs just as well and is priced less than this one).
I have dry, sensitive skin, and I haven't had any issues with this breaking me out (even when I fall asleep with my make up. I know, it's a horrible thing to do, but even after that it's never made me break out ever!). I really feel it making a seal/barrier between my moisturizer and makeup, which is awesome for dry skin people like me. It evens out my oily spots and makes the dry and flaky spots on my face disappear. My foundation stays on for more than 16 hours with this on (E.L.F. Studio Flawless Finish Foundation)
I have noticed that it does clog my nose pores a little, but with regular exfoliation it's something that doesn't bother me too much.
I'm glad they changed the packaging because at first it was so difficult to get product out of the bottle (I've actually had to throw away my bottle with some product left inside because I couldn't get to it). Not instead of a pump with a straw-type thing inside it looks like a diaphragm that rises as product is dispensed. Marvelous.
The first two bottles of this that I purchased (old packaging) had two different consistencies... both worked well, but one was thick like paste and the other was a viscous gel. The past few bottles I've purchased have had the same consistency, so kudos to E.L.F. for making things consistent.
I've used the primer in Clear and Radiant Glow (golden with a bit of sparkle). The radiant glow does disperse tiny gold flecks or sparkle on your face, but underneath your foundation it makes your skin look radiant.
Great, cost effective primer, and currently my go-to until I find something better.

This product is like rubbing your money on your face. It was a complete waste of $6. It did NOTHING for me. It didn't keep my face from getting oily at all! I think it worsened it actually! Also it made my cover up DARKER. Yes we should get 2 shades darker, too bad this made me go 3.5 darker. EMBARRASSING. Waste of money. Hate it.

On my second bottle of this and I'm a HUGE fan! Love the silky feel it leaves on my skin... my makeup glides right on and STAYS PUT all day. I haven't noticed any breakouts (other than my normal ones, blech) when using this.

To put it in a few words I.HATE.THIS.PRODUCT! Not only did it not make my make up stay on, I broke out in ways I have never broken out before. I get the occasional acne cyst, but never more than one... I used this primer for not even a week and I had 8!!! It was the most painful cystic acne imaginable. Seriously if I could give this a 0 I would. Usually I love E.L.F products but this did NOT sit well with me, I would definitely not recommend this.

I really wanted this to work for me. The price being the #1 reason. But this stuff seemed to make my foundation curdle. It pilled up and looked horrible. I don't have this issue when I used foundation alone. I would not recommend this.

I used this primer on my wedding day and it was wonderful!! It held my makeup on through tears and hot weather (outdoor wedding)! i usually have problems with foundation getting into my smile lines and through all the smiling that day, NOTHING!
a little bit of this stuff goes a long way! and its super cheap!
my only complaint is the pump broke like the second day i had this but i still figured out how to get the product out!
I have dry patches and this stuff makes my foundation flawless with no dry patches!

I used Bare Escentuals primer for years (both the original and the oil control), and it just wasn't helping my super oily skin like I was hoping. I finally found my HG primer in the NARS pore refining primer, but at $34, it is just hard to swing sometimes. I ran out of NARS primer and was desperate so I picked this up to try after reading the rave reviews. It does the job as well as the BE primer for me (it is also about the same consistency as the BE primer), but it is no where near as good as the NARS. It's just an okay primer compared to NARS, but for the price ($6) it really does compete with BE. I will finish what I have and I will repurchase if I cannot replace my NARS as before.

I used this the other day and it just did not mix well with my skin.
The consistency of this primer is very silicone-y and slipper, so a little goes a very long way. I applied this under my usual foundation and it really did help my makeup go on very nice and smoothly. However, this primer irritated and burned the crap out of the skin around my eyes!
I didn't have time to wash the primer off because I was in a hurry to be on time for class and all day I could not wait to shower and wash my face. When I did remover my makeup and shower, the skin around my eyes was very pink and clearly irritated. Thank god it was gone by the next morning!
I will not purchase this primer again just because it did not mix well with my skin. Because the primer is only $6, I was not too heartbroken. It is a good primer though because my makeup went on great, but if you have sensitive skin, I would probably avoid this primer!

I like this primer a lot & I use it quite often; it doesn't break me out & it keeps my foundation in place for hours. I agree with the other reviewers who say the texture is kind of weird--it's thin & kind of oily, but it works on my skin.
The packaging is really nice, but I received a defected/broken one... the pump doesn't work, but luckily I can unscrew the top & use what I can take off the tube. I think the pump can be a little better, but overall, I like this primer a lot & I'd buy it again.

I had wanted to purchase this primer for quite a while. I had a hard time finding it. I found this at Kmart for $6. I don't think the price is bad at all, its definitely a good price for the product. I used this for a few weeks, and I noticed a slight issue with breakouts around my mouth and nose. The product itself has a slightly "oil" feel. Not silicone like I prefer. I didn't notice any change in the appearance of my foundation or the longevity of it. The packaging isn't my favorite. I see some liquid floating around in between the packaging. I also unscrewed the lid and noticed the lid and the "tube" that pulls up the product weren't connected. I haven't noticed an issue with getting product out, but I just found it odd. I don't see myself repurchasing cause there is another primer i'd like to try fist, and I just don't find this does much of anything for me personally. But like I said I don't think the price is bad at all!

I want to love this product so much! But it breaks me out. I have fairly dry skin that often peels. When I put this on my face, it feels so nice and smooth and like it will be a great base for my foundation. I do not notice that much of a change in the staying power of my foundation (I use clinique even better liquid foundation). I wouldn't buy it again because of the little tiny whiteheads that pop up around my face when I use it daily. :(

I was excited to try this! since its usually out, and I prefer gel primer to lotion feeling ones.. It was good primer but makes me break out! And I NEVER break out, with any other products I've ever tried. I just never get pimples, I even get compliments on how clear and smooth my face is, so it's not my face that's the problem, it's definitely the primer. If your acne prone stay away from it, if not maybe gives this a try I'm sure every skin reacts different.

I didn't like this product at all. The texture of this primer is really odd. It feels like a more thin, creamy version of Vaseline. I have dry skin and it made my skin so oily/greasy. I see no difference when I apply my makeup on top of this primer. If anything, it makes my makeup look worse and makes it transfer a lot faster than it does alone. Not to mention it broke me out horribly. I've never had a face primer break me out. I think i'll splurge on a high end face primer from now on.

This was my introduction to the world of makeup primers -- holy cow! It really does the trick for my oily face which is plagued by large pores. Keep up the great work, ELF! This is a really solid product (especially for the price)!

This is a review for the one that is tinted with gold shimmer. On the ELF website is it labeled as one to get to cover imperfections but I really didn't like this at all. 3/5 lippies for effort. The primer didn't break me out but it made my face look really shiny. Not what I wanted. I only got this one because the clear was out of stock. I probably should have just waited for the clear one. Packaging is okay but the lid keeps falling off in my makeup bag.
