I absolutely LOVE the color! Think Cherry Chutney with gold glitter. The only issue with this nail polish is that it chips MUCH faster then the normal OPI polishes do. Perhaps it's because of the glitter, but out of 5 or 6 times I've used this polish, it never lasts longer than 2 days before chipping. This is with Sache Vite base and top coats. My normal OPI colors last me around 5 days before chipping. I wouldn't buy again just because it's a few more dollars than normal, and the wear just doesn't last long enough for me.

Meh. I feel mostly ripped off after buying this and wish I had just passed. My sentiments pretty much echo all the negative ones here.

The formula is on the thick side, easy to apply but it dries AGES! The first layer is streaky but second one makes it look fine. But I just don't seem to get on with OPIs anyway... The color is like black with gold/browny sparkles and its just so difficult to get off the nails! I have the sparkle all around the cuticles afterwards and the worst is- I can't remove it easily.

Its a really nice color, but a bit average. Its basically black with a bit of gold in it. I use it whenever i feel like something dark but not just plain black, it goes with pretty much anything so its always a safe choice. Nothing too special about it

Ugh. The color is nothing special on the nail - purple/black base with tiny silverish shimmer. Prettier in the bottle. Add a gummy thick formula and it's a fail for me.

I just got this one and brought it with me to my nail salon and I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE it. I don't know what the other reviewers are seeing, but I see a deep-deep blackened purple with a gorgeous sparkle in any light. I just came back from a restaurant and the lights were not bright-but my nails sparkled in the dim light. I have acrylics so really not worried about chipping. Will def. repurchase if the dark nails are still the thing when I run out of this bottle. My nail tech used seche vite top coat and when I got home I put on sally hansen Insta dri over it. Even my DH loved it.

I love this polish! It basically comes out as a sparkly black. It was thick enough so I only had to do two coats, too. It's also quite shiny so I didn't use a topcoat.

I really wanted to like this - especially for $12.50! But the color just sort of fell flat for me. Like another reviewer said, this looked more burgundy and the sparkle showed up more in Ulta. Then once I got it home and put two coats on (it really needed three since the jelly formula is rather thin), it's...black. And the sparkle just doesn't show through enough for me unless I'm in really bright sunlight. I love the copper-toned sparkles, I just wish the purple-ish color were either more of a true purple or more opaque.. I dunno. Bit of a bummer.

This polish is an enormous 'Meh' for me. I really haven't had an awesome experience with OPI DS so far...
This polish looks black with gold sparkle in the bottle, but paints on more of a brownish plum. Its surprisingly sheer at first, so it takes a few coats.

Its ok.... eh...Idunno. I'm bored with it after one wear.

You will definitely need two coats for the effect but this polish is awesome..I only really like wearing dark colors on my nails. I've never purchased any of the DS series but from now on I think I may have to. Like others have stated it does look black indoors, but you are able to see the gold and pink flecks. Outside there is a nice touch of purple to the color. Pricey for polish, but I would buy again...

This is my first OPI DS and I’m sure many would have been bummed as it is not a holographic OPI DS, I will admit I was a little too. But I have to say, this might very well be one of my favorite nail polishes – ever!
It’s a very dark purple jelly – I was convinced it was black when I applied in my friend’s poorly lit bedroom. The next day – I was completely tickled to notice that it was in fact purple – amply speckled with tons of pinkish gold glass flecks. Sounds pretty simplistic, right? But I swear it’s quite a brilliant color.
I will admit that it’s probably not terribly unique, but I happen to adore dark hues anyway and the extra bonus of the nearly subtle sparkly gold bits really gives this nearly black shade a whole new dimension.
I actually kept this on until it started chipping – three days, before I removed it. Which is kind of a big deal!
Love Mystery, although I am not so sure it deserves the DS designation and inflated price. Fortunately I received this as a gift from my nail polish buddy. Can’t wait to wear it again!

One of my all-time favorite OPI polishes. Two coats gives my nails a almost-black maroon color with maroon sparkles, 3 coats just makes the color more intense. Doesn't dry on nails as fast as other DS polishes I've tried though. My only complaint is that this chips easily, as with other OPI DS and Suede polishes. If black polish hasn't worked for you, but you still want something with a similar look, this is a good bet.

When I bought this polish at Ulta, the lighting made it seem like a nice, sparkly plum. As soon as I got in the car, the illusion faded. It wasn't purple, or at least bright purple. It was such a dark shade of purple that it was essentially black.

I tried it on at home, and that only confirmed it. Mystery went on very smoothly and was opaque black in two coats. Mystery isn't a middle school goth girl black, though. It's beautiful and chic. The base is inky and lit up with vibrant gold, rose, and occasionally green sparkles that somehow shine through the black base. It's like fireworks exploding in a night sky. It dried very quickly, and came alive even more with a top coat (some sucky Sally Hansen stuff I found in a drawer. I imagine that Mystery would be AMAZING with something like Seche Vite to make it shine). This would be a very nice shade for New Years Eve.

Unfortunately, black is not my color for nail polish. I'm too pale to pull it off without looking like I'm trying to be gothy (nothing wrong with that, it's just not my style). I'll probably return this and get one of the Orly Cosmic FX polishes instead.

Before purchasing this lovely nail polish at the store, the sales clerk tested it out on a piece of scotch-tape. Under the bright fluorescent lighting of the store, the polish appeared to be a dark purely-plum with a beautiful gold shimmer. I knew I had to buy this polish to wear to an upcoming event.

However, when applied a feeling of disappointment overcame me. The polish that once sparkled in the store, appeared a plain purple-black on my nails.

I now use it as one of my nail polishes I wear when I want to feel bad-ass, since my brother stole my staple black one when he and his buddies were rockers for halloween.

This applied so smoothly - probably the best application I ever had. It's a tad sheer with one coat but it still looks good enough to wear (it appears more plum-like although you do have visible nail-line). Full opacity at two coats (at this point it looks black but you get hints of purple in the sun). Even though it's a dark shade, the glitter comes through brilliantly. The glitter elevates this shade from goth to chic. I have to remove a lippie though because these were rather pricey.

I recommend this product for its amazing gold flecks (orange and rose gold) which somehow are able to light through a blackenned purplish base. The color itself very thick and tarlike, yet the flecks still glow. However, the application is perfect, for a big 3 free product. The only reason why I cannot give this a perfect score overall is because it chipped instantly. I used Nailtek II Foundation base and Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat.

I bought this with very high expectations, but it was very disappointing. The application was fine and all, but the color... It just looks black on the nail. Yeah, great, when I am in the sun, I can see slightly the dark plum base with the gold shimmer, but only when I am in the sun, indoors - it just looks black. Disappointing! Not worth the "DS" price tag imho.

Only needs 2 coats for full, opaque coverage. For me, this is rare in a nailpolish and for that alone makes this polish worth it. A good mani can be done in much less time when only 2 coats get the nail perfect! Anyway, this color is a deep glittery purple. It's so dark it looks black from far away. It's an HG pedi polish for me! My first DS polish, totally worth the extra $$.

It's a gorgeous color - when the light catches it I have a lot of fun looking at it and all flecks in it. However, it totally flaked off after like two days. I've never had a polish perform so poorly, and I wasn't even as active as I have been with other polishes. So, it's great to wear for a special occasion, but that's it. The DS series costs more, and I expected better performance from this polish.

Thought this was black with shimmer....it's actually a blackend plum. I needed to use two coats. The shimmer appears to be gold and burgandy. This color is nothing special and certainly not worth an extra $4...just for a silver cap. I didn't see any other difference, and didn't notice the price until I was at the register. Not worth the extra money for an average polish,.
