I would very loosely call this a pomade. It is basically a tin of beeswax with some other oils, so it is rather hard. The smell is quite strong and long lasting. I don't particularly care for the smell.

I certainly would not recommend this for short hair as one might traditionally use a pomade. It will just make you look oily. It is better for longer hair.

Not my cup of tea.

I have curly hair and wanted to define my curls. This product is full of good ingredients and smells awesome, but it is, indeed, too sticky. So, I mix it in my hand with my Beautiful Curls Shea Butter curls activating cream, and use it this way.

I'm no-poo and all heat protectors have silicones in them. I've found about 5 or so products that are cone-free and silicone free and so are healthy to leave in your hair. This completely works! They recommend this product in their line for heat protecting, probably bc of the beeswax. 3 straight days of full on flat iron curling and my hair is so so soft. I find myself just petting my hair to feel how nice it is.
- Really smooths hair. Hair is totally smooth rather than jumpy going through the iron, especially at the ends which I've never had before w jojoba or any spray
- Don't put on scalp - greasy, though it can add some volume there. Depends on what you're going for.
- Product is so good for my hair & I can actually leave it in
- I gave it a 5 for price because despite the expense it will last a long time since I used only a pea sized amount for my long hair; maybe 40 applications?
- Easy to apply, not messy and the smell is so subtle and really awesome that it's very pleasant to use. Light, smooth, easy.
- I didn't have to use any hairspray afterwards which is amazing--though flat iron curls don't need hairspray really.
- I love that I can just find it at Whole Foods rather than hunting it down in specialty beauty stores.
If you're in a pinch it also works as lip balm since it's just oils!

I love this Hair Pomade, it works wonders on my thick and dry hair. First I found the smell kind of strange and I didn't like it that much, but now I've got used to the smell and it doesn't bother me any more.
The most important thing when you apply this hair pomade is that you don't take too much of it, a little goes a very long way, if you take too much of it your hair will start to look greasy, but if you take the proper amount your hair will look wonderful!
I take a little bit of the hair pomade and rub it between my palms, after that I apply it to my hair. I get the best results with the hair pomade when I apply it to wet/moist hair, it brings out my natural waves and tames my frizzy and dry hair very good. My hair feels and looks very soft and healthy, plus it gives shine to the hair.
This hair pomade also protects my hair against heat and I take some of it in my hair before I flat iron it.

I really recommend this hair pomade, at first I thought it was very pricy but it lasts for ages so in the long run it isn't that pricy. Love this product!

Love the scent. Love that it's mostly organic. However, this made my fine, wavy hair greasy like no other. I'm no stranger to pomades or waxes, but this particular one is unfortunately not for me. I can imagine it would be very good for anyone with damaged ends or frizzy hair.

This hair pomade does a great job of bringing moisture to the hair, but it is incredibly sticky and doesn't make my hair shine. I must admit that the incredible moisture kept breakage at bay, but it also made my hair very frizzy, sticky, and dull. It was very expensive and in my opinion nowhere near worth the price. I'm sure there are better moisturizing pomades out there.

This is great for anyone with normal to very dry hair. I your hair is very oily or super fine, I would avoid it. I have fine long hair and just a little goes a long way. It seems to work on a variety of types and textures. Everyone in my house uses it and it works for them all. It also smells like a redwood grove which I love. It doesn't give too much hold, but it gives great definition and shine to hair!

This product is nothing special in my opinion.Yes,it adds a lot of shine to my fine hair, but also made my hair look greasy and already ironed hair a bit wavy.I do bealive this pomade nourish my dry/damaged hair ends, but spoil my ironing effect. So,this is useless on my hair.
Smell..at first,I didn't like it at all, because it is something like woody,rainforrest-freshly scent, but with time it turned to be so pleased to my nose. Also,You can use this to nourish your nail cutticle { John Masters suggestions }, and that's telling me how this product natural is and really has nourishing properties. So I use it as a pre-shampoo treatment for my dry ends and hope it works little something to nourish my ends. All in all,not worth the money You spent on it,and will not repurchase after I finish this jar.

This is what I've been looking for for a long time, something that could replace my beloved Matrix Glossifier. This pomade give excellent shine, and just like Glossifier just a very small amount is required, or else my hair looks like an oil slick. What I love about this pomade, beside the fact that it contains only natural ingredients and that it smells wonderful and fresh, is that it conditions while it gives really glossy hair. So from time to time I do a heavy application an hour or so before shampooing, which makes my hair super soft after I've washed it. My only complaint is the metal tin, which opens quite easily and is not ideal for travel. But apart from that, this is my new HG!

well.. for what I paid for this product (which is around crazy 54$, guess cause of the shipping costs) I feel robbed. It's not bad and is nice to have but I would never repurchase, also because it seems this will last for ages. I use it after blowdry to calm down the ends. works well, but is also quite a bit stickey and I keep thinking that this stickiness might attract some dirt. Anyways, this works the best for me on the second day after washing when my hair tends to get curlier - adds definition and lissom.

Oh my goodness, I love this stuff. It's great for bushy, puffy, ill-behaved hair. Mine is very, very thick and wavy, and inclined to get dorkily frizzy and mushroomy, puffing out in all the wrong ways. This product keeps it in line better than anything else.

A single tin lasts a long time. Here's what I do: I swipe each of my palms over the top of the product, rub my hands lightly together, quickly rake my fingers through my hair, and then skim my palms over the outer layer of my hair. A quick brush through and a little bit of final smoothing to get things into place, and everything is much softer, shinier, and better behaved. I might need a third palm swipe in the winter, or if I let my hair grow past my shoulders. It never does look greasy, though I can imagine that it would in fine, thin hair. Mine seems more than happy to suck up whatever I put in.

The scent is a little stronger than I'd like, but well worth it for the effect.

Beeswax and essential oils - $28.00 is a lot of money to pay for a teeny, tiny tin (60ml's). This weighs down my fine hair no matter how much I use, and I would not repurchase this in the future.

I started using John Masters skin care products (the Apricot Rose Moisturizer and the Firming Eye Gel). I loved them so much for my dry winter time skin that I researched other products from the line.

I have very curly and dry hair that I now get carmelized and straightened for better managability. My stylist recommended that I use a wax pomade to maintain those rough edges and to keep my hair from getting to dry. I am not the type of person that likes to shop around at thirty different stores to find a good product, and I love shopping at Whole Foods for everything. Luckily they carry this line. The first time I straightened my hair I used no product to maintain the style. It lasted but it started to look dry after a while. The second time I had my hair straightened, I used this product to control dryness on the ends and the hairline area. It is so light and it really does the trick. This is the only thing I use in my hair now. No hairspray, gel, cream, leave-in, none of that stuff. I just wrap or pin curl my hair every night add a few dabs of this stuff throught my hair. The next morning all I have to do is take out the hair pins. And if I want to keep the flyaways under control throught the day or if the air is particularly dry, I just run a small swipe of this down the length of my hair. My hair is done. Definitely my HG for hair...my only product for hair. Sorry so long. If you knew the trials I've had with my hair then you may understand why I am so excited about this product. It's comparably priced to salon grade products (They do have a salon in NYC) and the packaging, although not ideal (it's in a tin you rub your fingers over), is condusive to the type of product it is. I have nor problems with that.

HG product!! This makes my wavy/curly hair soft, yet free of frizziness. I've NEVER found a product that does this without feeling sticky or stiff.. yet I found it in an organic line! Who know eh? My only gripe is it's not cheap (about the price of upscale salon products), and it comes in a jar you have to stick your fingers into every time you use it. Other than that, it smells fantastic and works great! :) Love!

This is a wonderful, fantastic, lovely product. Definitely HG! I'll buy it as long as it's still being made. *Ah, sweet mystery of life at last I've found you!*

I have mature, thick, wavy, somewhat coarse hair with lots of silver at the front. I'm not at all good at using hair styling products & the beauty of this is I don't have to be! I just put a good gloss of this fabulous stuff on one palm, rub my hands together, work it through dry hair really well & shazzam! I can just brush it through my hair, fluff it up a little, coax my bangs over to one side & maybe put a tiny bit extra on one part that's really recalcitrant. My hair goes from a lumpy, wavy, slightly dull mass with a dent on one side & some stubborn cowlicks to a shiny, soft, natural-looking, well-behaved & symmetrical head of hair. It makes the silver glint-so wonderful! I swear the brown looks deeper & more alive. I know it's just light refraction, but still!

This product isn't magic-I still have to reanimate my hair a bit after 6 or 7 hours. I can just administer a little brushing & fluffing & everything's great again.

I love the way this smells. It’s a little hard to describe-at first there’s an earthy, not sweet scent of honey and flowers (the beeswax I guess) & some essential oils. The scent fades fairly quickly when it’s on but there’s an occasional fleeting whiff of it for a while afterwards. I love how I’m putting only natural, nourishing things on my hair. I’ll have to try using it on wet hair & using it as a conditioner. I’m sure it'll be brilliant for both.

The ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, mango butter, babassu oil, jojoba oil, wheat germ oil, essential oils of bay laurel, cedar atlas, fir balsam & cryptocaria massoia, vitamins A, C & E.

I just picked this up yesterday and I love it! While it is incredibly expensive, you only need a tiny, tiny bit (like one swipe of your palm across the top). I have been looking for more natural products to control coarseness & frizz since silicones look great at first, but still feel very drying on my hair. Plus the build-up is annoying! This pomade is the answer- it smells great (woody, olive-y, very organic in a good way, not dirty hippie way), can be used as a mask (I sopped my hair, let it set for a few hours before showering, then washed it out), apllied to wet hair for the smoothest, soft shiny blow-out I've ever had. Plus, it can be applied to dry hair for a more glam shine. Totally multi-tasking (also a great hand moisturizer, could be used as a lip balm, etc.), and it gave me absolutely perfect hair commercial model hair. Dare I say, HG of hair products!

I swapped for this product and am so glad that I got it! I don't love the smell, but it's OK, but the results are amazing. It adds moisture and shine with no greasiness. My hair is soft and manageable. I use a lot on my ends which are dry and then a bit on the rest of my hair. It's basically impossible to apply to much because it distributes really well when you brush it out. I can't say enough good things about this product :)

This review is for the pomade, not the texturizer as I think the one below is for. The texturizer smells like oranges while the pomade has an earthy galbanum type aroma. I love the smell but I am sure some will hate it. This stuff is mainly olive oil yet it works much better than plain olive oil. It is a great moisturizing styling product and I also love to use it on my cuticles. I have really enjoyed all John Masters products I have tried. This one will last for ages as only a tiny bit is needed. If you think you have applied too much to an area then just brush the hair if possible. If not, this stuff has a way of ending up not looking greasy even after you might have applied too much and started out looking a little too slick. I love it!

While I love most things that smell like creamsicles, so I had a feeling I would like at least opening up the teeny 2oz jar that it came it. A little goes a long way to do all that you want to do after drying: smooth your bangs and flyaways or play with the layers around your face. No sticky weighed down mess but a lot of control and shine (even for this coarse headed girl) :)

I will buy this pomade again and again! First heard about it in a magazine (apparently it's Jennifer Aniston's favorite product) and decided to give it a try. I'm always a little skeptical at first but after trying it I LOVE IT. Made my hair very shiny with just a small amount and NO STICKINESS whatsoever. I am in love with this product! It's kind of hard to find (go to johnmasters.com) but other than that an A++++++. Doesn't even compare to other pomades. You must try this stuff!
