This mascara is not going to give you the most dramatic volume or length, but it's gentle on sensitive eyes and gives a polished natural look. It doesn't clump and visibly improves the look of my lashes. For a very thorough review with pictures, go to: www.sensitastic.blogspot.com

I've used this for years because I switched to this brand as it's natural. However, due to this reason you won't get much coverage with this mascara and in fact it's so unnoticeable I don't even bother taking it off at night it just wears off. I like the fact it's not clumped or glued to my eyelashes like some heavy mascaras are but I guess then you don't get coverage. I have also the volume mascara which is much better if you want a night out but you will need makeup remover to take this off. Nearly every one I have bought the wand has broken and wobbles. They did say when I phoned this seems to be a problem. All in all, I still won't switch back to a heavily chemical mascara with a nasty smell. It's a bit pricey though!

Pros:

All natural
Nice scent
Preserves itself in the tube for a long time
Non-flaking
.
Cons:

Takes several applications to make anything happen, does not lengthen or add volume in any way. Looks almost too discreet and natural. Unless you have some already hefty lashes to apply this to, don't expect much difference other than some colour.
.
I really like most Dr. Hauschka products that I've tried, but the mascara isn't my favourite. Perhaps I should try the Volume Mascara next time?

I bought this is 03 Aubergine. It's a high-quality, German-made mascara in subtle dark purple that doesn't scream garish '80s, but works with Urban Decay's Rockstar pencil to bring out the green in my blue-green eyes. I'd have given it an overall rating of 5 *if* I didn't feel the need for Lancome's Cils Booster as an undercoat. Colour is great; staying power just fine, and it doesn't clump. But for gentlemen-start-your-engines length, you'll want that undercoat. BTW, for the same price, this handily beats YSL's Faux Effet Mascara in Violet. Absolutely worthwhile.

I bought this mascara because it was the most readily-available of the natural, less-toxic mascaras.

My favorite mascara (before I learned its horrible ingredients list) was Maybelline Full n' Soft. Dr. Hauschka has a much more runny, liquid-y formula than my previous favorite, and the wand doesn't distribute very well at all. The formula takes a lot longer to dry than the Maybelline, and the wand leads to clumping. I've taken to using my old wand that I loved so much with the Dr. Hauschka and that fixes the problem somewhat.

I agree about the crappy packaging. Any $25 mascara should be perfect- I expected better for the price.

What a nice, basic mascara! No drama here, just jet black, glossy, natural looking lashes. It is very similar to Clinique's Naturally Glossy mascara, the difference is, that Hauschka is purely natural.
I will buy it again and again, but I would be very happy if Hauschka did something with the crappy packaging. Whatever I do, the wand just keeps breaking in half after a few weeks of use. Very disturbing, because you either throw it away, or try to use it with a tissue or something. Ridiculous for the price.
Oh, and it is NOT tearproof, no, no.

This is my absolute favorite mascara.

It really moisturizes your lashes, never clumps at all, and never ever gets dry or flakes. It leaves your lashes with a shiny, almost wet look that is very pretty. It washes off very easily. The wand separates each lash better than any other I've tried, giving a very natural delicate look. Its so much different than other mascaras that I have actually asked 2 random people if they were wearing Dr. Hauschka mascara, and they both said yes.

Con: It is not water or tear proof. Will run if you cry or have watery eyes. However, it comes off of your skin so easily, its not much of a problem to wipe off if this happens. And it takes a little while to dry. After you apply it, just don't sneeze. ;) Can be a little pricey!

My lashes are so pretty when I use this, that the pros completely outweigh the cons. If it weren't for the cost, I would've given it a 5.

I am actually really impressed with this mascara! Being a bit of a mascara addict- I tried loads of department store mascaras, and this is the softest, most lush brush i've ever come across-the only brush i've used that comes close to this would be the Dior Blackout one. 'Brittle' is the last word you would use to describe this mascara, its goes onto the lashes almost feather light and dries quickly without making your lashes look all crunchy looking. This mascara feels different to other mascaras i've put onto my lashes, it doesn't feel chemical and make-uppy at all. The only thing that doesn't make this the HG mascara, for me, is the lack of drama and volume it gives to the lashes- I would class this as more of a casual day-time mascara (though a nice one at that), and i still prefer GA's Eyes to Kill for when I want a high powered and glamorous look.
UP-DATE: I have been using this for a good while now and even though I liked it before (gave it 4 lippies) I now literally can not live without it! When I use it underneath other mascaras, as a base, it gives the ultimate 'False lash effect' making my lashes look incredibly long!
This mascara is great alone for a daytime natural look or as a mascara base to make your mascara go that bit extra. Now 5 lippies!

This is an organic mascara that conditions the lashes and doesn't irritate the eyes and those three points are worth high marks in my book. It doesn't clump and is easy to apply. If there is a smear whilst applying, a simple swipe with a tissue will remove it. However, it is quite thin and therefore doesn't volumize. As others have already mentioned it is more like a lash tint than a mascara. I am quite happy with that as I am not looking for volumizing or curling action, just some colour on the lashes that won't irritate my eyes!

After leaving a review for Dr. Hauschka's Volume Mascara I have to leave one for the original as well.
This is by far one of the best mascaras I own and will continue to repurchase. The formula leaves my lashes soft (not stiff and crunchy to the touch) and patent leather shiny! Someone always asks what I have on my lashes when I wear this, without fail! :P and if that is not the ultimate testament of a good mascara, I wouldn't know what is...
I will say this mascara isn't for everyone. I am very concerned with the health of my lashes and my health overall, so I am an addict for natural and holistic products.
The cons are the scent -- very earthy, some people will not appreciate it, the cost ($25.95 at my local market), and the formula is not waterproof (I don't usually buy waterproof anyway) so it may smudge on the lower lashes.
:) The Pros outweighs it for me. My lashes are healthy and separated and fluttery and glossy with this mascara. Basically everything I look for in my mascara.
(ps: For some reason I cannot get a good picture uploaded for this review, but the small one up is not very accurate. The brush on the regular original mascara is very standard, getting thinner at the tip, and works really well!)

This mascara is a good mascara if you like a natural look. If you need extra volume or length, than this mascara doesn't do enough for your lashes. The mascara does not make your lashes dry as some other mascaras do, so at a normal day I wear the mascara of dr hauschka to 'relax' my lashes and to nourish them. If I want to dress up for a night out, I wear a mascara that gives more body to my lashes, e.g. clarins mascara or dior show.

I'm sorry to bring a negative review here, but I really have to. I'm an organic skin care junkie, so I'm always looking for the next best (organic) thing. While I usually don't have an issue with skincare products, I have a hard time finding good quality organic makeup, so I figured that Dr. Hauschka cosmetics would be a secure buy. This mascara does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to my lashes. It's literally like putting nothing on! I even tried to put 3 to 4 coats on, to see if there was any difference, but my lashes were still there, completely invisible. Bear in mind that I already have long and full lashes, but unfortunately they are so blonde that they need colour to come out. I really can't figure why, since the wand is fine and the colour is rich and creamy in the tube. Meh. I'm not throwing it away because of the steep price, so I'll try again in the future to see if something magically changes.

A very natural looking mascara that's clump-free and easy to apply. Will stay put as long as long as there's no tears, otherwise it runs like crazy!
Doesn't irritate my eyes at all.

HG mascara :) I have tried loads of mascaras from high end to drug store brands, and this is by far the best. It cost $28 , which isn't cheap. I got it in brown and its gorgeous. The only mascara I have which doesn't clump. My lashes look so natural , but it does lenghten them some what. My favourite thing about this mascara is that my eyes don't end up blood shot by the end of the day, like all other mascaras I've used, the worst being Benefit's BADgal plum which irritated my eyes like crazy. <3 this mascara :)

The volumizing mascara goes on well and looks terrific (best mascara I've used). It will run like crazy if you cry or rub your eyes, but besides that it looks great and smells good too!

This is a good basic mascara! Like everyone else says, it doesn't add volume or too much length, but on the other hand, it doesn't clot or flake like a lot of volume and length mascaras do. In this respect, this mascara is very reliable for everyday use and looks natural. I will definately repurchase and am looking forward to buying and trying out the DH volume mascara for nights out.

UPDATE: I was at a festival and a wedding last week, and this mascara did not hold up. At a music festival, you want to apply and not think about it again for three days. In the hot sun, this was gone within two hours. At the wedding, I cried like a baby, and as a result looked like a raccoon when I left the church. So I'm downgrading this to 2 lippies and recommending to everyone NOT to wear this on special occassions. It's a good basic mascara on the days you don't have anything special planned.

I'm a years-long eco gal who's tried nearly ever natural and organic cosmetic on the market. But I have yet to use a Dr. Hauschka product that wasn't a waste of money. I just don't understand DH's appeal; their prices are sky-high and their products are full of water and alcohol and gross plant oils like peanut oil.

But anyway, I bought this off SkinBotanica.com so I couldn't judge the brush's thickness. It's disappointingly thin and barely coats lashes. I have to apply, let dry, apply again, let dry, and apply again. Who has the time?? Worse, it's been allergy season here in Chicago and the minute my eyes slightly water, this is half-way down my face. It doesn't irritate and has a light rose scent, but for a whopping $26 and minimal benefits, it's a rip-off.

I started out in life with sparse blond eyelashes and it hasn't gotten any better as I age. I used to shop around for all kinds of mascara (and their promises). But as I get older (and my eyes get drier living in an arid environment), I find mascara irritates and drives my eyes crazy. I think I've tried a small fortune's worth of mascara to find something I can live with. Not even Clinique worked for me. In fact, Blinc was the least irritating but still a problem. Well I bought Dr. Hauschka's mascara and I find that it does not irritate my eyes. I have now worn it for 15 hours at a time. It does not elongate or add volume but I do have dark eye lashes and I'm happy with that. I bought it on line but I see Whole Foods carries the entire Dr. H. cosmetic line, I hate the price but will certainly buy it again.

This is a good natural mascara. I got it in black and it colored my lashes nicely. It did not smudge or flake on me. I even feel alseep wearing it and I did not wake with irritated eyes. If you are looking for volume though this is not the mascara for you. I did not get and volume or length with this. It only colored my long lashes, but using this will help your lashes repair over time. Chemical mascaras do break lashes and thin them out. If you stop using drug and dept store mascaras you may find out you actually have long thick lashes after all.
