This is just a gimmic that doesn't at all work for me. The brush is huge and twisty and just makes a huge mess. Good thing I only had a sample and hadn't paid for a full tube. I tossed it out after trying it twice and getting it all over my eyelids. I do much better just going with drugstore mascara.

The bad reviews on this product do not surprise me the least. I am a sucker for interesting brushes, and that's exactly what lured me in. The first few uses, I hated it. Missed my baby lashes and didn't give me the curl i love. Put it in the back of my make up box, and when my cheap-o L'Oreal Voluminous ran out, I decided to use this for work, and was a little more impressed.
It is a moist mascara, which conditions my lashes, but I didn't get that smudging that many people complained of. The brush is fun to use, and I've learned to grasp the baby lashes a little more. Its not great for over the top falsie looking lashes, so I only use it for casual occasions when I want a more natural look.

I'm very surprised by the bad reviews on here. This mascara is perfect for me. I've tried and purchased others but I always go back to this for my everyday mascara. I haven't found any problems with running or smudging. I will continue to use as it gives me my desired effect.

It thickens and lengthens nicely, but its smudge city. My drugstore mascaras perform 10x better then this.

I really like this mascara! Some reviews say it comes off easy when wet WELL YEAH it doesn't say its waterproof or anything. The mascara wand allows you to do a butterfly effect with the eyelash which I think is great. I've recently fallen in love with a drugstore mascara (maybelline falsies) so I may not go back to this mascara for a while

It's ok. It smudges off if I sweat. I've had better drug store mascaras. The key to this mascara is to roll the brush as you apply to get the best effect. It's pretty dark. Made my lashes long and didnt clump. I just don't like how it smudges on my liD

The formula is very nice, but I have to use a different brush to apply it because both ends of the brush are huge. I get the same effect from Cover Girl Lash Blast and can use the brush that came w/ it and it's cheaper.

This mascara does what any other regular drugstore bought would do. It does give some lengthening and volume, nothing spectacular, but it does work. Overall doesn't smudge, however it does transfer a bit on my eye lids.

This mascara works fine as far as providing length and volume. However, it takes forever to dry, and inevitably smears all over my face! Plus, it's impossible to remove. Even with eye-make up remover and a quality face wash, I still wake up with raccoon eyes the next morning. Got it for $9 at Nordstrom Rack, but even at that price, I wouldn't repurchase.

I'm surprised at the bad reviews - this is my favorite non-waterproof mascara (which is why I don't use it all the time... I need waterproof in case there's a really sad ASPCA commercial on). I have thick curled lashes so I want length and separation - the formula doesn't clump on me and lengthens and then the gigantor crazy brush does the rest of the work.
It's on the final call section of the smashbox site - which means it will be discontinued shortly. I guess I'll clean off the brush and use it in another mascara and hope.

I love the formulation, but hate the brush. I find this is best applied on top of an existing mascara. When applied by itself it gets messy and ends up in my eyes which makes them water. Smashbox says their mascaras are okay for sensitive eyes, but something about them makes my eyes water.

This WAS an ok mascara, but its was really disappointing to see the mascara smudge after nearly 4 hrs during my 8 hr shift. What a shame.

I bought this mascara thinking that it would give my lashes a lot of volume. It actually doesn't do much for my lashes because it still sticks straight out. The wand is shaped like a dna helicase but I find the application very awkward. Very disappointing especially for the price I paid.

If there were a definitely not option under "would you buy this again" I would definitely have chosen that. I was so disappointed in this product. I usually love smashbox but this was an epic fail. It was utterly useless and I felt like it didn't do anything.

Wow. I'm so suprised at the negative reviews.
Now finally THIS is a mascara that does it's job.
I already have long curly lashes, but I find that this makes my lashes look so thick and long and voluminous. When I put this on, people comment how on they want to kill me because of my lashes. lol.

I swiped this gem from my sister so I got it for free so I can't really comment on the price. But I would so rebuy this again.

The trick with this mascara is that you have to hold your eyelids open while you swipe it on up and down...ok well I can't describe it but the way I do it, it makes my lashes look amazing!

I received a sample of this via a 500 pt Sephora bonus. I had never tried a Smashbox product and was super excited to give it a try. First impression was promising...thought the brush was really different from my HG Lashblast. I applied it by dragging it up my lashes rotating the wand. I did like the darkness of my lashes however it failed at keeping my curl and providing any volume. Also as the day continued it kept flaking....grr! This is def not a repurchase for me and thank goodness it was just a sample!

I'm really surprised by all of the negative reviews for LASH DNA; it works really well for me.

One coat of LASH DNA is all I really need for noticeably longer, beautifully separated, evenly coated, non-clumpy lashes. Because of the perfect separation my eyes look much more alert. Plus, it holds my curl all day. I prefer to use two coats, as it slightly improves my volume (It doesn't claim to give volume, so I can't complain that the increase is only slight).

I've been using LASH DNA for around two years and have never had any problems with smudging or flaking. This mascara is also easy to remove, but has never ran on me.

Smashbox also say that the formula will "condition and rebuild former lash damage", so I can't wait to see what long term usage will do.

I love the double-helix shaped brush. Yes it's big, but no bigger then Diorshow or similar, so if you're used to that you shouldn't have any problems with LASH DNA. The shape of the brush separates, fans and curls lashes, right from the roots to the tips, so my eyes really pop.

I've used both a mini tube and a regular tube and I think most of the reviews are by people how have used the mini tube; the mini tube's wand is too short and the shape of the brush is sort of squashed, so you need the regular tube to see the benefits with this mascara.

Not impressed at all. Formula was seemingly dry and left my eyelashes looking wimpy, even after I swiped on a couple of coats. No volume, no length, no curl, not even very dark. Pass.

I am well on my way to loving this mascara. It makes my lashes look so full, black and thick! I don't really care for the brush--it does make application a bit awkward, but it's manageable. It also held up through an hour long workout, which is pretty impressive given that it's not waterproof. Good stuff. UPDATE: This began to flake off into my eyes after so many hours. (Same issue I had with Voluminous). Probably not a good choice for contact lens wearers like me. Deducting a lippie.

OK, so I'm in the minority here but I totally love this mascara! I have to agree that the brush is tricky and you can get smudgies all over your lids if you're not careful but my eyes are large and wide so I haven't had any issues. I can add several coats without clumps and it thickens and lengthens my lashes so they almost look 'falsie'. This formula lasts and lasts so I have to take extra care in removing it with my Deep Cleansing Oil. I would definitely - and will - repurchase!
