I'm on a quest at the moment, since all I seem to have in my make up kit is soft nudes and pinks. I'm after an elusive red lip. I don't know what it is that I'm after but I know that when I see it I'll know it (you know like the perfect pair of flats)
I've started this quest with the Maybelline Lippie in Real Raisin. I like it, don't love it but definately don't hate it either.
Pros: The colour is just divine and the way it looks in the tube also translates to the colour it is on your lips (big bonus for me there), the texture is so smooth and soft on my lips and my lips didn't dry out or flake, another bonus. Lasting power is about the same as other lippies. The colour seems to be for more of a cooler skin tone but I'd love to see it on a warmer skin tone to see if it translated across.
Cons: Very matt no real shine to it. Could be a great matt lipstick however if you want a bit of shine you'll have to slick a bit of gloss over the top.
Overall thoughts, great colour and again with this Maybelline line nice and moisturising on the lips. The quest continues.....

I love this color, its deep red, very gr8 with my NC35 skin tone, I used 2 wear it a lot when I was n university (2 years ago), and everybody used 2 complement how gr8 my lips looked like... its well pigmented & has a good lasting power..
Now that im more n2 nudes & light lipsticks I dnt buy it, but this will remain a favorite of mine..

This is yet another great color from this fabulous, well-priced product line from Maybelline.
Real Raisin is a berry-tinged, full-bodied blue-red color - reminds me of a nice caberbet wine - no shimmer whatsoever - matte without being deathmask-like- great staying power and not as drying as some I've tried.
There is no "fade to pink" in this lipstick color, either, for those of us that can't do pink (myself included). Makes your eyes pop, especially with a neutral shadow and black mascara - great for a night out, but still refined enough for work (I'm wearing it today and I work for the gov't).
I do apply a layer of a non-greasy balm (Carmex most of the time) first, and then top that with pressed translucent powder, and THEN apply the lipstick, just to keep it from migrating outside my lips or to my teeth, and then blot. This lasts me 3 hours or so with coffee-drinking, and 4-6 hours if I'm off coffee that day.
If you're having a blah day, I'd recommend this lipstick. It's fresh, fun, and glamourous, without scaring children or small cute dogs away from you.
