UPDATE: Just like I said, it started to dry up pretty fast after a couple weeks use, and it started to give me a bad irritation like my eyes would hurt and water and because of that, I would rub them and yes flake city! But I have never had a mascara bother me EVER. Weird, so much for "organic". Back to maybelline!
This mascara is interesting. The formula is very different from any others I've tried. It lasts really long, you know other mascaras by the end of the day, the tips of your lashes are not as long? This one doesn't do that, it dries to almost a very matte finish and the definition is really great. I think tho, its not for dramatic looking lashes as since it dries really fast, its hard to apply a lot to get a really dramatic effect, the brush is nice and it separates each lash for me, making a very feathery lash look, similar to the buxom mascara I've used. And no clumps! Also not experiencing any flakes. I'm scared though because it dries so fast, am I going to trash it in a few weeks? Usually most new out of the package mascaras are really wet, a couple of weeks go by and the consistency is better, then it dries out in 2 months, I'm worried this mascara might dry up given its already pretty dry after I took it out of the package. I will update if this happens. Overall, nice mascara for day/work look.

I love this mascara! This is actually the only mascara that my eyes will tolerate. Great mascara for sensitive eyes and it doesn't smear or flake at all. Plus it looks very natural, great buy :)

While shopping for eco-friendly and organic mascara options this one really stood out (maybe it's that lovely metallic leaf wand). While the wear is not amazing as far as plumping up my lashes with fuzzy eyed glamour it does a decent job and is easily built upon.
I only use regular mascara - waterproof mascara does a number on lashes and unless you're on a soap opera or doing a photoshoot at a waterfall I recommend you go for the non-waterproof as well. Protect those hairy babies! :D
Smudges? Flakes? Not that I've noticed in an excessive amount...maybe a little flaking here and there but it seems to wear pretty well while I'm on my bike (windy, sweaty, hair in face, etc.) and running around at work for a good 4 hours.
For a more dramatic look in the evening I just reapply :)
For the gals that may be experiencing flakes...perhaps it's the humidity of their environment? I try not to touch my eyeballs after makeup application - though the occasional dramatic moment does befall me...thank goodness it's easy enough to clean up and reapply :)

I really like this mascara. It has better ingredients than most drugstore brands, the tube looks really cool, and it gives a natural, not-overdone look. The only complaint I have is that it smudges SO easily. I can't touch my eyes at all while wearing this, or the mascara will be all over the place. It is very easily removed though, all I have to use is water. I would buy again because of the ingredients list and the natural look it gives.

This mascara is for a natural everyday, daily type of mascara. I really liked this. You could actually tell that it was on my lashes( Unlike the "Organic Wear 100% Natural Lash Boosting Mascara" ) but it wasn't the "PROM PROM PROM PROM PROM DRAMATIC" look. haha! Cute packaging. I'm a sucker for packaging.

This is easy to apply, with a simple brush and zero clump factor, but it feels a little bit odd on the lashes in that it never seems completely dry. The look you get is very subtle, which is really not to my tastes. This is for people who are interested in using all-natural products and want a no-makeup look and nobody else.

I bought this because it was supposed to be smudgeproof. Ha! It went on nicely and looked great until I checked the mirror a few hours later. Smudged and flakes all over. I looked like a raccoon and was out at a play. Yikes.
Thank heaven I bought this at CVS. It's going back.

i love this mascara! it separates my lashes very well and makes them very full. it gives the pretty look, and it looks best when you wear three coats and wait fifteen minutes between each coat. It is very gentle on eyes, and it is easy to wash to wash off with water. It does smudge a little bit, especially if your skin isn't dry or it's a hot day.

I have been obsessed with Maybelline Voluminous Waterproof mascara since junior high. I have been totally against changing ever! But I bought this one time when I wanted to try a non-waterproof mascara...you know, give my lashes a break from all that stuff...
I bought this a while ago so the tube is different than what you see in stores now....Mine is green and shaped like a leaf. The newer one has a leaf for the handle and the tube is beige and, well, tube-like.lol So I can only comment on the older formula, which is *fabulous*!!
If I compare this to the Maybelline one, this kicks the crap out of Maybelline!! One coat and my lashes are full...two coats and my lashes look like I'm wearing falsies!! I can't believe how much volume and thickness I get out of this stuff with so little work! With my Maybelline, I use a FastLash tool to keep the mascara off my eyelids and apply two to three coats, brushing them out in between...and it still doesn't make my lashes as thick and lush as this stuff does!!!
The only neg thing I can say is it's not waterproof. But, I haven't had any big issues with it smearing off more than any other mascara, including waterproof. I don't recommend going out in the pouring rain, or crying, but during a normal day it holds up really well.
Seriously, the volume is incredible!! I think it's that icky brush. It looks weird and kinda like a torture device lol, but it really applies the mascara. When you first get it, make sure you get the brush really really coated before using it...That way you get the most volume with the least amount of coats. Fabulous stuff!!
I only rated the packaging as a 2 because the leaf-tube looks trashy, and the newer one looks even more pathetic. Frankly though, for what it does, I don't care how the packaging looks because the formula rocks!!

i have given this a five not becasue it is perfect but because I have tried so many different mascaras and this probably provides the most consistenty 'pretty' look of all of them, which is a look I really like on myself. It is a bit wet and yes takes a while to dry, I recommend doing two coats arund 10-15 mins apart. I use this after curling with a shiseido curler and then use Fibrewig on the very ends for more length. My experience contrary to others here is that is DOES hold a curl very well, better than any other mascara I have found, possibly because of all the waxes in it, it is very volumising but only moderately good at length. Its a day not a night mascara. Comes off super easy and doesnt trash my lashes at all, they feel great the next day.

It's pretty difficult to find a good mascara without all the nasty petrochemicals/parabens/preservatives that most mascaras have. So I was stoked to find this PF one at my local grocery store. I really like the formulation and the wand. The wand reminds me of the CG clump crusher (which was a bust for me, and was my pre-'clean' mascara days).
I have very long lashes, so I feel that this does a good job of providing both length and moderate volume. I use two coats or layer another clean mascara on top of this to add the desired volume, but overall I'm impressed with this so far.
I don't experience any smudging or flaking at all.

I wanted to like this mascara because it is cruelty-free, available in drugstores and similar stores and is inexpensive. It went on smoothly and made my lashes look good initially. Unfortunately, two hours later it had flaked off under my eyes, and not subtly. I have not changed my sunscreen and had used silica-containing powder on my face and under my eyes prior to applying the mascara. If two hours of wear results in noticeable flaking that I have to swipe under my eyes to clear it away, then this doesn't live up to its job.
I was also surprised by the packaging this mascara came in. The package had an extra "flap" of stiff paper/thin cardboard attached that contained advertising already present elsewhere on the container. This struck me as somewhat wasteful, especially for an organic product.

I too wanted to like this mascara. It it inexpensive, not tested on animals and ecofriendly. I kind of liked the wand - it separates lashes very well - but it does feel quite dangerously sharp. It does not give impressive volume or lenght, but could be said to function as an everyday, light/subtle kind of mascara. Another pro is that it is easy to remove with a waterbased cleanser in the afternoon. However, it does smudge quite a bit during the day! As this is a dealbreaker for me I will not repurchace.

I love it! I bought this mascara because apparently I have really sensitive eyes and there is some chemical in other mascaras that really irritates them and makes them water. According to the packaging, this mascara is "100% free of harsh chemicals, synthetic, preservatives, parabens, clumping, smudging, flaking, fibers, and dyes." I was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised. Even if I'm really tired and don't wash my face at night, it doesn't bother my eyes at all. I kind of like the brush, although I think it could be improved. It has large plastic bristles instead of tiny nylon ones. I think they should make the bristles a little finer and narrower so that you can separate each individual lash. The mascara itself has a nice consistency: it doesn't dry too quickly, it doesn't clump, and it doesn't flake off. There are probably mascaras out there that give you more volume and curl the lashes better, hence the four lippies instead of five. But I will continue to buy this kind of mascara because so far it is the only one I have found that I'm not allergic to, which is especially great when you consider that it is relatively inexpensive and you can find it at the local drugstore. I might try the Jumbo Lash version next.

This is a good natural mascara for the price. It is very lengthening, but not that volumizing. There is also a bit of flaking by the end of the day.
I still prefer Earth's Beauty mascara.

I just don't like this. The wand is plastic with little needle-like bristles that scratch the base of your eyelids if you get too close. I guess it's supposed to separate your lashes as you apply. The formula looks nice and isn't clumpy, but the wear of this mascara isn't good. It smudges and also makes my eyes really itchy. I definitely won't be repurchasing.

While this mascara does a great job of separating my lashes, it doesn't do much else. They're not much darker or defined and definitely not voluminized. It also runs easily, never seems to set and burns like acid when it gets in eyes. There's better mascaras out there, so skip this one.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Mascara is a "100% Natural Origin" mascara that promises to lengthen, volumize and define lashes. Apparently this is the first ever certified organic mascara. The formula contains "EcoBlend to protect and perfect". What is EcoBlend? Supposedly a mix of "OrganiSoy to moisturize and help nourish lashes, and Eco Olive, a natural antioxidant to shield lashes from harsh environmental aggressors." Wow, so many buzzwords. Who are you trying to impress, Physicians Formula? I bought a duo pack of this mascara at Ulta for $9.99, which I believe is the normal retail price for just a single tube. I gave away the other tube as part of a gift. This mascara contains .26 oz (7.5 g) of product. This product was made in America. Physicians Formula does not test their products on animals. As with most of their products, Organic Wear is ophthalmologist tested, hypoallergenic, and fragrance free, as well as safe for those with sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
Organic Wear comes in a leaf printed recyclable cardboard box. There's tons of information on the box, barely a square inch isn't covered in claims. There's even a chart on the back explaining the difference between Physicians Formula's organic ingredients and the synthetic ingredients that make up more traditional mascaras. An ingredient list can be found on the bottom of the box. I love the look of this mascara's tube. The tube is beige with leaves all over it. The name of the product and Physicians Formula logo adorn the front of the tube in green lettering. The cap of this mascara is really cool. It's A LEAF. A SHINY GREEN LEAF. So cool, yet so impractical. It's difficult to get a good, solid grip on the leaf shaped handle. You know, its ok though, I got used to it and I give Physicians Formula credit for getting creative with their packaging.
The "EcoBrush is 100% recyclable. Physicians Formula says that this "innovative green brush is good for the earth and defines each lash with ultra soft, plastic bristles. The brush, about an inch long, is kinda an elongated football shape. I find it similar to Maybelline Volume Express One by One's brush, but with shorter bristles. The plastic bristles are evenly spaced and fairly short, tapering towards the ends of the brush, longest in the middle. A lot of product gets stuck on the tip and bottom of the brush. Do not like. However I go do like how this brush applies mascara, it sweeps through the lashes with ease.
The Organic Wear formula is "100% free if harsh chemicals, synthetic preservatives, parabens, smudging, clumping, flaking, fibers, and dyes". Slow down there, Physicians Formula, we both need to take a deep breath after that. This mascara has a strange consistency. It goes on like a normal mascara, but it wears with a strange, sticky, tacky feel to it. Not cool. Cat and bunny fur stick to my lashes when I wear this mascara, irritating my eyes. That being said ,the tacky but not too wet formula holds a curl pretty well. Organic Wear mascara offers a nice amount of length and a fair amount of thickness, but I wish it gave me more lift. I feel like it kinda makes my lashes go straight out, then up, instead of that beautiful, delicately curled look. You know what I mean? While I agree that this mascara is smudge and flake free, I wouldn't call it clump free, though clumping isn't a major issue for Organic Wear. It wears well aside from the strange stickiness. This mascara doesn't give me itchy eyelashes, but it sets me up for itchy eyes in general if I'm going to be hanging out with my fuzzy friends. This mascara removes easily, but just because its natural doesn't mean it won't burn if you get it in your eyes in the removal process. Ow.
I didn't like it at first, but I've been warming up to Physicians Formula's Organic Wear mascara. The texture is a little weird, but I like the results, otherwise. It gives very nice length while still looking relatively natural. It can feel a little heavy on the lashes, but it doesn't actually weight them down. Packaging is pretty cool, but not the easiest to work with. This is a decent mascara, but I wouldn't repurchase it, yinz know how I like to try new things. I also prefer a more dramatic lash look. Plus, $10 per tube? That's kinda steep. This mascara might be a good option for you if you're into the all natural, organic thing. Personally I feel like some things aren't meant to be organic, and mascara is one of them.

I really like the look this mascara gave my lashes. It adds decent length and volume, however it does not hold a curl whatsoever and tends to smudge. Good for people who aren't prone to smudging and don't care about holding curl. But I personally won't repurchase.
