I recently purchased this product after reading some very positive reviews. I have combination skin which is prone to breakouts, particularly around my chin area, with a tendency for an oily T-zone and dry cheeks. However, I've been using this for around 2-3 weeks now and noticed my skin has become very dry and flaky in places. I'm not sure whether this is being affected by the cold weather so I'm going to continue using it a bit longer. As I'm also using a BP topical cream at night, I'm finding it's all drying my skin out. I also noticed a dry, itchy patch appeared behind my ear after I started using this product. However, with a bit of moisturiser applied it seems to have calmed down.
So, overall I'm not entirely sure whether this cleanser is good or too harsh because of all the other elements and would be interested to hear other people's experiences when using during winter months.

I have Rosacea and I LOVE this cleanser. Normally I would have NEVER tried an acne wash on my extremely sensitive skin but I purchased this because my nose was always oily and my pores were becoming ridiculous (probably because I was using really gentle products). Also I have constant hormonal acne on my chin and neck. The day I bought this the sunscreen I was wearing was burning my face so bad I just had to get it off. I washed my entire face and it felt instantly better. I had planned on rewashing my face with a gentle cleanser but didn't have to. I have been using this cleanser and the clear face care gel that goes with it for about 3 weeks now and can't see myself stopping. My over all complexion is so much better and my face hardly ever burns anymore. My cheeks are still pretty red but this isn't an anti-redness product so I can't fault it for that.
I had never seen this product advertised here in New Zealand. I don't know if it's well known anywhere else. I hope it becomes well known because it truly is amazing.
I've even gone out and bought the Sebamed Multi Protect Sun Lotion 50 and I'm so happy with that. It only slightly bothers my face (which is INCREDIBLE) for sunscreen on my face. It doesn't make me look oily and it was quickly absorbed on my body. I'm loving this brand.
If anyone with rosacea wants to try this maybe just try it on a small area in case you don't have the same reaction as me. I'd hate to be responsible for any bad reaction. However, I highly recommend anyone to give this a try as my face hasn't been this comfortable since before I got rosacea.

Amazing product, neat packaging. So you use the pump to dispense foam, put some on your face and wait for about 5 minutes for the chemicals to kill bacteria. And the wait's -totally- worth it. This cleanser is extremely mild, calming, antibacterial, and simply the best thing I have ever tried.

My HG cleanser!! I have quite difficult skin even though it is in good condition now (thanks to this cleanser, a good moisturizer and my Clarisonic Mia). I have combination skin and I get flaky and red around the nose and on the chin if I don't use a good moisturizer. My pores also clog easily and even though I rarely get big pimples, my skin can look really uneven. So I can't use anything too harsh because my skin is too sensitive but too light cleansers do nothing to my blackheads and other bumps!
Sebamed cleansing foam has really helped with my pores and I just don't get those nasty bumps like I did before, it keeps my skin looking clear. And it's not harsh at all!! This is like the first cleanser that actually kills the bacteria but doesn't dry out my skin. I also like the packaging with the pump- it's hygienic and it's easy to get the amount of product you want (I use about 1 and a half a pump).
SO I LOVE IT and you should definitely give it a go :) And please, give it a little bit time to work.

Great, great cleanser! I just bought my 3rd bottle. I keep switching cleansers to find something a little..eh ..maybe sexier, but I keep coming back to this. It's not fancy at all, but it's a great cleanser for acne-prone skin.
Only a few ingredients, no crazy smell, ph 5.5, antibacterial but not harsh like other cleansers for acne often are.
It comes with a pump, so you pump out the foam when using it. It cleans your skin, removes light makeup and does not make you skin tight or dry in any way.
I used to have this kind of dry but at the same time greasy skin, which might be because of harsh cleansers. Now after the second bottle of this, my skin heals faster and I have a lot less flaky and dry patches. Alltogether is is a lot more calm and supple. This is also a good cleanser in combination with the clairsonic. I used it together with the clairsonic maybe twice a week.
One thing that I don't like bout it, is the taste. It has a strong taste when you get some of it on your lips.

I've suffered from acne for 20 years. Over the past 10 years, it's gotten worse and worse, with recurring cystic spots in some areas. I've been using benzoyl peroxide off and on over the years, with varied success, but lately it's completely stopped working for me. Besides that, it makes my skin red and sensitive, bleaches my towels and clothing - I despise the stuff!
On a whim, after seeing a roadshow at Costco, I hopped onto the Sebamed site and bought some items from the acne line. The foaming wash, and gel. The turnaround in my skin over just the first few days has been remarkable.
I can't even believe it. All spots gone except for a few stubborn ones on my forehead, which are now about 70% gone. I could cry - my skin is soft, bright and hydrated. My skin has always been very dry, so I had zero confidence that the gel would be moisturizing enough, but lo and behold, my skin is softer and more balanced than ever! The dry spots I always suffer with are gone.
Just last night I ordered shampoo, body wash and the baby care line for my daughter.
I highly recommend that everyone give this brand a try!

This foam is just great. I have really sensitive acne prone skin and every other cleanser I used dried out my skin badly. I wasnt even planning to buy this product(and with skin care i always do research before buying) but when i saw that it had just a few ingredients I decided to try it. And I dont regret it. i think that its at least worth a try especially for people with similar type of skin as mine. Love it!
EDIT: Started to brake me out and really dried out my skin.

I’ve been using this for less than a week and I’m liking it so far. I consider it inexpensive as I got it for under a fiver and it appears to be a promising product that delivers:
-a good value amount of product @ 150ml
-instant foaming action & easy lathering
-a light, clean coconut scent
-leaves skin feeling extra smooth to touch immediately after use
I also like the science behind the Ph 5.5 element and how my face doesn’t feel stripped after using this proving that it really is a gentle cleanser.
I have no qualms with having to wait 5 mins for this to work on skin- it make sense that one should allow a product to do its job for x amount of time anyway before diluting its potency with water and just washing it off.
I also use my Jan Marini Cleanser alongside this so having to let a product sit on my face for a while to work is nothing new to me. I can imagine this Cleanser should last me a good while, will update soon.

Best cleanser i've ever tried. This product (used with the toner and the face care gel) really improved my skin. I used to have pimples all the time, an a very mixed skin overall. After using this for months, i get a pimple now and than, but it's much better than before.
The cleanser itself smells good, i love the packaging, and it lasts long. I really, really like this!
UPDATE: mine's not called "antibacterial". ONLY "Sebamed cleansing foam" !!

My HG cleanser so far. I live in tropical country, have a very oily and acne-prone skin. Over the counter product makes me breakout, even the baby-mild, soap-and-fragrance free product such as Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. The only cleanser that worked for me was the one prescribed by dermatologist.
I was eager to try Sebamed Antibacterial Cleansing Foam because it claimed to combat bacteria. Well, they're right. It keeps pimple away from me.

First I have to say that it's a relief I live in Europe making this product very accessible and more affordable.
After reading some comments I have noticed that this is a love or hate product for many. In cases like these, it's either a hit or a miss. Please don't rely on neither good reviews nor bad reviews. Instead, have faith in the product if its description appeals to you. In my personal opinion, sebamed clearface has been an efficient product, does just what it says on the '' tin '', you have to be patient and follow the prescribed steps!! If you don't, then blame yourself, not the product. It's a german brand and germans are generally known for being efficient and yes, stereotypically, like everything to be clean! My skin feels clean, fresh, my occasional breakouts ARE reduced and I have been told by dermatologists that I have beautiful and even skin (and believe me I'm prone to redness and oily T zone)... oh, and my boyfriend loves that nice clean subtle smell! Bought it for GBP 6.50. Well cheaper than most commercial mass produced brands that PROMISE to get rid of spots. At least I can say sebamed is an HONEST product. Read the enclosed leaflet and you'll know what I mean.

I've been using this product for a month. I have combination skin and occasionally get a pimple every now and then. My cousin bought this for me after I mentioned to her I was having some problems with my skin. Her entire family is a huge fan of Sebamed products, so I was really curious to try out this product.
I use it after Shu Uemura cleansing oil to wash my face. This product is very gentle, which is a huge bonus for me. I don't mind having to spend the extra 5-10 minutes leaving this product on my face. This works extremely well and I feel like my skin is softer after I use it and my skin is clearer and doesn't get very oily now. I also really like the idea of the product having a ph of 5.5.
The only bad this about this product is how hard it is to get a hold of it in the US. I believe it is a German brand, so it would be more easy to get a hold of in Europe? I will definitely be asking my parents to bring some back for me on their next trip to Taiwan.
Definitely planning on checking out some of Sebamed's other products!

This is the worst product that I've used so far. All along I have a nice complexion, normal skin type with a pimple or two whenever my period comes. However, one day, after watching so many fantastic reviews about this product on a beauty talk show, I decided to purchase one to see if it lives up to its name. To my horror, I had break outs on my forehead (it was so severe that it could be considered as acne since it lasted for quite a while) and that my cheeks were so dehydrated that the skin near mymouth was peeling, red, dry and blotchy. I consider this product to be expensive because for the same amount of money, I could have gotten better drugstore cleansers e.g neutrogena

I don't think it's fair to expect a product to stop your acne. If you have chronic acne, you should see a dermatologist and get a prescription for oral medication. Excessive oil comes from the inside and is caused by hormones. How can one rely on an external use product to combat excessive oil?
That having said, i really love this cleanser and i just wanted to speak up for it. I have very sensitive skin that reddens easily, and not to mention an acne problem which is currently being sustained well by Roaccutane. Sometimes my skin gets really oily, sometimes really dry. I've found that this cleanser is the most gentle one i've used so far, way more than many tube-style cleansers. It leaves behind a very soft moisturising feel and it doesn't seem to be artificially fragranced.
And obviously, it isn't fair to expect that this should remove your makeup, because most cleansers don't have that multi-tasking purpose as well. I used FANCL mild cleansing oil to remove my makeup and then this as a softening, overall wash. In particular i'd like to recommend this product to those with dry skin because it really helps alot.

I can't believe all the bad reviews on the Sebamed AntiBacterial Cleansing Foam! This has been my HG cleanser for about at least a year! Its usually easier to find in Europe than it is in the US, although I think they have a US website now (not sure about shipping, prices & all that stuff in the US).
Anyway, so its a super light foam that you pump into your hands and apply to your face. I like to massage it a little, and then you have to leave it on for 5 minutes (which some people may not be patient enough for). After the 5 minutes, you rinse it off and voila! I forget exactly how it works, but I guess there is a compound in the wash that kills almost all the bacteria off your face without drying you out too bad.
The only downside is that is not designed to remove makeup. Before I use this, I use a cleansing wipe to get all my makeup off. If I'm not wearing any makeup that day, than I don't have to use anything before hand. I would HIGHLY recommend this cleanser to anyone with bad acne (which I had before I started using this). You have to use it pretty regularly for it to work (just like any good skin-care regime). Just in case its too trying when you first start it, make sure to always moisturize afterward. Its a little pricey (I've seen it up to ~$25, or as cheap as ~$12 USD, depending on the country - and usually in pharmacies, never any other stores). I've done a lot of traveling and so far have found this cleanser in Mexico, all over Europe, and the Middle East!
Also, portability is a big issue wit me as I travel quite a bit, and the bottle travels quite well without any spilling or any other mishaps. All in all, this is a GREAT acne wash that I think people should recommend and follow for a few weeks to see how great it works.

I ordered almost the whole Sebamed acne line hoping it could help my sensitive skin. This is one of their two cleansers (the other is a deep cleansing bar). It's important to read the directions on this before using it - I thought it was awful until I realized I wasn't using it properly. You're supposed to use 1 pump on your skin and leave it on for 5 minutes so it can kill bacteria.
Cons:
1) Don't always want to take 5 minutes to wait for it to combat my bacteria, although you can put it on at the beginning of your shower and try to keep your face out of the way - that saves some time.
2) It stings like a mother if it gets in your eyes (which is probably true for many products, but since you're supposed to be leaving this on for 5 minutes, you are giving it the opportunity to drip into your eyes. Usually it doesn't, though, because it dries fast).
3) I don't think it does anything for my pimples. They are neither more, nor fewer of them than when I started using it.
4) Some people complained that it doesn't remove makeup - I think you're supposed to use both cleansers, and maybe the deep cleaner bar would deal with that? (Although I think having to wash your face twice is stupid).
Pros:
1) Doesn't irritate my skin.
2) Leaves skin soft (it does feel like it leaves a film, but since my skin is so dry, I don't mind that, plus there is a toner step to get rid of it).
Since it didn't do anything to help my acne, I won't get it again.

Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes, when I see a pimple coming and I leave this stuff on my skin, I can see the pimple diminishing. But sometimes, it just does nothing.
On top of the inconsistency, it doesn't actually help with my chin breakouts. It also tends to leave a film on my face, which I don't like. And like most other people, I'm too lazy to let this sit on my face for 5 minutes before I wash it off, and if you accidentally get this into your eyes, it will sting like hell.

brought this overseas ... a little more expensive then some of the similar products on market. got it thinking it has similar capabilities as cetaphil and spectro ... it is good for every day use and does not strip everything off your skin. however, as mentioned by others, it does not remove any make up! also, it does not help with acne for me at all.
