I love Urban Decay, so I expected a lot from this product. My expectations were definitely met! I own a few other purple eyeliners I bought before this one, and let me tell you that this one upstages them all! The colour payoff is amazing and the liner glides on very smoothly, and it won't budge even a little bit later on, staying true to its name. The only gripe I have is that this seems like it's going to be a b-tch to sharpen. But other than that... yes! I totally recommend this!

Love to wear this with a neutral brown eye in the water line. Really brings out my hazel eyes, which is hard to do because I think hazel eyes like mine, green and brown, look like poop. So this makes them look more green. Win.
These 24/7 pencils are not kidding. they are a b*tch to take off, even with a variety of makeup removers. I always have to dig my nail to scrape it out or a dry towel to sift it off. But that really shows you how great this stays on when you want it there! I would buy this again in the mini like I have, but probably not a normal sized pencil. Maybe.

The PRETTIEST bright purple! Definitely makes a statement, and great for nights out. May take a bit more pressure and few more strokes to apply, but once it's on, it is vibrant. Love, love, love.

I love this eyeliner! I got this in a christmas duo at sephora, because I usually use ud 24/7 eyeliner in zero & it came with this color. I lined this under my eyes, & it made my eyes really stand out even more. I will continue to use this color, as well as zero (which I love). I honestly would've probably never tried this color if it wasn't included in the duo set. So, I'm glad I discovered this! It glides on smoothly, but it does not show up on the waterline. It stays put all day. & I can't forget to mention how beautiful the color is, it's purple mixed with blue. I would reccommend.

I love bright colors so naturally I was drawn to this liner while playing at Sephora. I couldn't wait until the next day to put it on. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised! The purple showed off my brown eyes without making me look tired, or like I was punched (as purple can do that). The liner did not budge all day, and it was easy to apply. This is a definite repurchase.

This is by far my favorite eyeliner from Urban Decay, and I like a lot of them, this color is so pretty, it is a very fun bright color, yet i find myself wearing it to work and not feeling like I'm going to a club. It brings out the green in my brownish eyes, and stays all day. vibrant and interesting, not like anything else I have tried, love this so much.

This is my favourite purple eyeliner - EVER! I've tried pencils, liquids and gel/cream liners before, but this Urban Decay liner is the best quality and best pigmentation of any purple I've tried. Purple does amazing things for brown eyes. Looks great in person, as well as stunning in photographs! Applies smoothly and is long-lasting. I don't experience any tugging, smudging, etc. I recommend buying the Urban Decay Grind House pencil sharpener. It works wonders!

Ransom is a beautiful irridescent purply bluish almost electric color. Very beautiful. I wish this color showed up on the waterline though. That is why I gave it 4 lippies instead of 5. I received this in the UD Book of Shadows III so I can't comment on the price although I do know these are $17 normally in their large size. I know that these liners are excellent quality. I own Baked, Graffiti and Zero and they stay on your skin and waterline for hours. I plan on picking up more colors for sure. Love, love, love. I want to buy a champagne color. Like Sin. I think they make it in that color. I know they did in the Anniversary eyeliner promo.

Okay, I absolutely hated the 24/7 pencils awhile back when I first tried them. I have to idea what made me come to that conclusion. Obviously, now I love them, they stay on very well, the colors are awesome and never have a I found a liner that goes on so easily (okay maybe Prestige but they lack in color where UD owns)! Ransom is a very pretty true purple that is bright, so if you're looking for something less noticeable go for the Rockstar, it's more like a raisin purple.

I wanted to go for a different colour aside my usual black eyeliner so picked up this UD 24/7 eyeliner in ransom. Ransom is basically that cyberdog purple, the ravey purple/blue chrome effect thing. It's their brightest purple, and as others have mentioned, the staying power on this baby is impressive. I'm gutted I didn't try UD before actually cos it's more value for money than MAC's powerpoint. Although this cost £13, it really long so you get a lot of pencil for your money, I can see this one lasting me for yearss. It also is genuinely waterproof, it's hard to get this off with a wipe, and I'd definitely reach straight for a stronger cleanser. My only con of this product is that for my medium skintone the purple is a bit too light and doesn't accentuate my eyes enough. I probably should have picked up rock star, but I do like the fact that this is a truer purple. To overcome this problem I quickly line with a grey and then put ransom on top of it. This actually gives a nice smokey look to it as the bright purple isn't totally right for brown eyes. With the 2 liners combined it's exactly the purple I had in mind when I bought it!

This is the best purple eyeliner. When it goes on, it stays purple as apposed to turning black like many purple shades do. It wears all day long, and is my HG purple liner. Thank-you UD!

I love this eyeliner!!! Purple is my favorite color and this is an awesome bright, standout color of eyeliner. I have been searching for years for that perfect shade of purple eyeliner and this is it!! A lot of purple eyeliners don't look that different from black when they go on. Ransom really stands out and is a must have when I do a purple smokey eye. It's just a gorgeous shade. The quality of the Urban Decay eye liners is really outstanding. They are creamy and they really last on my eyes. I do advise you to keep the caps on them though or they will dry out fast! I love Urban Decay's eye shadow in Ransom too. Gorgeous shade.

I'd been lemming after this since it's debut, but never reached for it. I have the UD shade that looks just like this in the liquid liner, and love it as it makes my green eyes pop. I have tons of purple shades from MAC, but none are like this, a rich, bright purple. When I saw this was in the 15th Anniversary set, it just made me want it even more. I got the set home, and can't stop wearing this! Like the other UD 24/7s I have, it wears fantastically, goes on like butter, and is vibrant and true, whether I use a base or not. I get tons of compliments on this every time I wear it, and it really holds up even during nights of sweaty clubbing! I've even had guys notice it and compliment me or my eyes, since most of the time I just draw it on very thin, unless my nighttime look is dramatic enough to warrant a thick line. Even if I had purchased this on its own at full price instead of in the set, my review would be the exact same, I'm just extra happy I got it for a steal! Beautiful.

I am in love this pencil! The color is amazing & makes my green eyes even more green! There is nothing not to love about Urban Decay Ransom. It goes on very smoothly for me and unlike some of the other reviewers have said, it did not take much effort to get the color vibrant! It last all day and into the night if I need it that long, and it looks just as good 8 hours later as when I first applied.
I would like to suggest Lancome eye makeup remover lotion if you are having a problem taking it off, or if you cannot afford that one, some 'ole fashion Jergen's face cream works too! It is no harder to remove than any other UD liner to me.
Another thing that really bugs me is when some reviewers state $17 being too much for an UD pencil. Really, compared to some of the other brands and the amount they give us for even more money, I think UD is fairly reasonable considering how big the pencils are, and how great they work & last. I just hope the price does not go any higher, and I hope that UD keeps Ransom in their color scheme. I am going to buy a backup just in case some of the bad reviews cause this color to become discontinued.
Every purple I have ever tried failed to show up at all as a true purple! This color is so bright & screams purple out loud. I love it!

Ransom is my go-to purple eyeliner! I've tried several purples, but this one is perfect for me. The quality of the liner, as well as all of the 24/7 liners, is well documented. Will repurchase.

When it comes to Urban Decay eyeliners, I've been around the block quite a few times. I've gotten two gift sets of their mini-pencils for two previous Christmases, I own a few full-size pencils, and I've used the pencils that my mom owns (disinfecting before and after use, of course). So, needless to say, I am quite familiar with this product.

I first saw this shade used in many of Christine's looks on Temptalia. It was such a unique, vibrant purple color, one that I knew I had to have. So I trotted off to Sephora and bought one. The color is gorgeous and absolutely flatters my dark brown eyes. I have never found a purple like this before.

So, why did I give this only 3 lippies? The consistency's horrible. The other 24/7 liners deliver rich pigment easily, and with only a few swipes. They are also easy to take off with a wipe. This shade, though, takes some serious work. I have to swipe the pencil back and forth for almost a minute on each eye in order to build it up to something and give it some decent vibrancy.

The other 24/7 liners seem to be a bit harder in consistency, while Ransom seems to be softer. I've never had this before with another 24/7 liner shade. Maybe I got a bad pencil? The sample pencil in Sephora was the same too when I tried it, but I assumed it was because the oils from many people's eyes had made the consistency softer.

This shade is also a complete pain to take off. I have to go on floor buffer mode with a wet wipe when I take this off, a problem that I haven't had with other 24/7 liners before. It takes a lot of work to get all of Ransom off--a few minutes' worth, actually. Even when I use an oil-free eye makeup remover, it's still a battle to get off.

Basically, I love the color but hate the consistency and work required with this. Also, $17 is a bit ridiculous to be paying for a single pencil. I guess I would buy this again, though, because of the gorgeous, unique color. Or at least be willing to get it in another mini-pencil set.

I'm pretty much a UD shadow junkie but I don't have much experience with their liners. I own several liners by different labels but I really don't wear them often. This came as part of the BOS3 kit & I've tried it out a few times. I love the color, as others have said it's a blue violet purple with not a speck of glitter to be found & it has a metallic sheen . I haven't really noticed any duochrome effect.

As for application, this wasn't/isn't as creamy as I'd hoped. It's not horrible but there are ds liners with smoother application & as good or better staying power (Milani Liquifeye comes to mind). Every time I've applied this there has been tugging or I have to tug & sometimes the color takes itself off instead of builds if you go over an area repeatedly. I'm not sure if that is typical to this pencil or because it was a kit mini. Can't say I'm impressed & I was so hoping to be impressed. Also, imo this is not really a color to use on the waterline; it doesn't show up at least not on mine & I'm very fair.

I'm not sure about repurchasing this, chances are it won't get enough use. NYX has a color that is very similar to this (purple velvet JEP). I just wish the NYX had the same staying power & a finer tip. Based on staying power in this color alone, if I needed another I guess I'd get it, otherwise I'll buy NYX or Milani. Especially the Milani Liquifeye, if they ever come out with a color like this I'll be one of the first in line.
