• Price:
Very reasonable (I got it on sale w/ the shampoo but the regular price wasn't too bad either.)

• Packaging:
Not bad, not great. I do like that I can kind of see how much product is left because of the nearly-clear (pearlescent) bottle.

• Product:
Note: My hair is coarse, dense, tightly coily (4a/mini-corkscrew curls), high elasticity, and **loooow porosity**

I'm in love with the shampoo of this combo but the conditioner is amazing. I've never had so much slip in my hair in my life as when I use this product. (& it has been far too long coming to this point! ;v;)

Dimethicone is too high up on the ingredient list for me to want to leave any of this stuff in my hair but for detangling purposes I know of nothing better (yet). I just have to make sure to rinse it out well afterward.

YMMV & be careful: Unlike many curlies, I *like* a good shampoo & I'm not afraid of (mild) sulfates! I expect the dimethicone in this conditioner is going to build up something *awful* if you aren't eventually washing it out with sulfates (in your next wash), so this is NOT a no-poo/co-wash conditioner option.

Great product. Thick, rich and creamy. Stays put in my hair in the shower, and softens and moisturizes. Great deal, too for only $3.

I started using this when it first came out and i was 13. I went swimming and straightened my hair almost everyday. This was the only thing (in my reach) that made my hair soft, shiny frizz free. It was my holy grail. Now that im older and ive learned a little more about hair, i still go back to this conditioner. i think its better than most of the salon brands ive tried. Actually, i think its better than most of the deep conditioners ive used. Plus its only 3$.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is THE best conditioner I personally have ever used!!! This is my HG conditioner which is puzzling seeing as I own: Bed Head, Frederick Fekkai, Paul Mitchell, Big Sexy Hair, Biosilk, Biolage and other high-end conditioners in my arsenal.
I have long dark wavy hair that is prone to frizz and dryness but an oily scalp. I use this conditioner an inch away from the scalp and it keeps my crazy volume under control. (Yes, my hair is VERY voluminous and oven sticks up an inch more than it should on the crown even with my long heavy hair,so I'm not sure why it does that silly thing)
This Herbal Essences conditioner surprisingly does better than ALL OF THOSE HIGH END BRANDS! I'm serious!!! My hair feels so moist after using it. The next day, my hair still feels like it had a giant moisturizing drink! You can feel and see the health and moisture of my hair until my next shampoo.
I used THIS conditioner for prom and I use it when I go to parties to make my hair ultra shiny and lush and you know what? Someone touches my hair every time I use this. I know for some people certain products don't work but I know for sure this is my Holy Grail conditoner, and has ever since I've tried it! I have felt the same way even after 5 years. Wow!!!!!! I love this stuff!

I was given this conditioner and usually I adore Herbal Essences products! However, I must say that I feel like this conditioner didn't make my hair feel soft or healthy at all. Even when I first put it in my hair...it just felt like a bunch of goo in my hair. I have really thick hair so maybe it would work better on someone with thin hair. Too bad because, like I said, I usually love Herbal Essences. ]=

WOW! I have ultra dry and ultra damaged (think 2 bad at home perms and colors within the course of 2 weeks, followed by daily showering and straightening plus more highlights) so yes, my hair was wrecked. Actually its amazing that it didnt just all fall off, but my hair is normally awesome, so Im trying to grow out the damage but my hair is really long so that will take a while. Meanwhile i was going to get a keratin treatment and those are atleast $300!! But my hair litterally resembled steel wool. If I took hours to straighten it the best I could hope for would be for it to resembe hay. And I would lose a cotton ball sized amount of hair each time I showered. I was using bumble and bumble creme de coco, and it really wasnt bad, but it was not at all stunning despite the $50 I threw out each time I bough a tiny little shampoo and conditioner set. Not to mention an additional $25 for the masque (but I do LOOVVEE the masque and will probably continue purchasing because it actually lasts me a while) and for that much money my hair should be transformed right? Well I guess I just didnt think shampoo or conditioner could do that. Until i found this stuff!! This leaves my hair soo soft and smooth and shiny and healthy! You'd never guess its been through what is has. Plus it smells like candy, delish! But it doesnt weigh anything down, including my natural beachy wave/curl which can be easilly turned into an odd half wavy half straight thing with a bad product. Not only is this saving me hundreds on products since i dont have to buy super expensive salon products, but its also saving me probably thousands on keratin treatments (you need them every three months and my hair is waist length so to get keratin treatments untill it all grew out, you do the math) The bottles are super cute too. And did I mention that its instant detangling? I dont even have to brush my hair. All my friends have commented on how nice my hair looks, they thought I got a keratin treatment, and also they couldnt stop smelling it because it just smells yummy! The only negative is that it made me so mad at myself for throwing out hundreds on salon brands for months when I could have been using this all along.

UPDATE:3-19-12 I stopped using this because of all the silicone/sulfate rumors I've been hearing. I learned a great deal about hair, tried many expensive products, sulfate free, curly girl, natural, you name it. Over a year later, I tried this again, and you know what? I still love it!!! I actually love it even more now that my hair is no longer damaged (the damage grew out, my hair grows fast), it just leaves my hair so amazingly silky and I have thick hair so that's hard to do. The sulfate/silicone rumors are not true. If you like what you are using, don't stop! And expensive isn't always better. Most of my favorite products are not very expensive at all.

Nay for silicones, irritating ingredients, and mediocre results.

Oh, well. Needless to say, I'm not repurchasing.

From the back of the bottle: “my hydrating conditioner for damaged hair acts smooth around frizz or breakage—drink it in for dry hair or damaged hair that thirsts for more. Watch me lay it on thick with a rich, drenching hydration conditioner that has extracts of shea, moisturizers & Hawaiian sea silk. think that's refreshing? give my reconditioning shampoo a swirl.”

Price: $3-5, often on sale or coupons available

Packing: Standard, but pretty and colorful 10.1 oz wave shaped bottle. I like the lid on this, easy to open without ruining my manicure, and doesn’t collect water in the cap when left in the shower. Only thing I don’t like about it is that it is hard get out the product when it is almost empty.

Formula: Contains silicones, so it is not ‘cone-free’ if that’s what you are looking for. It also contains detergent and alcohol, things usually to be avoided by people with dry/frizzy hair, so it wasn’t a goof choice.

I looked up some of the ingredients to see if they were good/bad:
-Water ,
-Stearyl Alcohol = Fatty alcohol used as an emollient and to help keep other ingredients intact in a formulation
-Dimethicone = silicone :/
-Behentrimonium Chloride = Skin-conditioning agent and emulsifier
-Cetyl Alcohol = Fatty alcohol used as an emollient, emulsifier, thickener
-Butyrospermum Parkii Extract (Shea Butter)
-Hydrolyzed Algae Extract = antioxident, thickener, emoiliant
-Fragrance ,
-Benzyl Alcohol = alcohol (drying…)
-Disodium EDTA ,= Mild detergent
-Sodium Hydroxide = alkaline cleansing agent
-Methylchloroisothiazolinone
-Methylisothiazolinone = Preservative, possible irritant
-Red 33 ,
-Blue 1

Review:

Ever since Herbal Essences changed their packing and formulas a few years ago, I’ve been sort of turned off by them. I used to love their Rose Hip shampoo, but everything I have tried from them has been less then exciting. Honestly, the only reason why I picked this up was because CVS was doing a deal where you could get any 2 shampoos/conditioners from the Hydralicious line for free after rebate via their “Extra Care Bucks” (like store credit vouchers). I figured I would give it a try and picked up two of the conditioners because I already have a shampoo which I love, which is the Kirkland sulfate-free which comes on a HUGE pump. I figured this would be a good product to try for my “co-washing” days.

For those of you who don’t know, co-washing means “conditioner only washing” meaning you do not use shampoo, just a conditioner to perk up hair between washes. This is recommended for people with dry or curly hair because it allows you to keep hair smelling good and removes some of the products and eccess oils without stripping the hair of it’s naturals oils which dry hair needs. I have medium length, curly, color treated hair which is very dry. It tends to be very frizz prone, brittle and dry – even straw like at times. My hair needs some serious hydration and conditioning. While I did not have wild dream of it being a HG for me (that is so hard to find, even harder with low-end DS stuff) but my hope is that it would be suitable for co-washing because I can usually get a way with an average cheap conditioner if I use a heavier treatment after shampooing, which is about 2x a week as needed.

I have now finished the first bottle completely.

First think I always do when I try a new conditioner it take a whiff. Herbel Essences always smells good and I remember loving how the Rose Hip line I used to love would make my hair smell delicious all the way until the next morning. This one smells like “fresh rain” – it smells clean, but still has an earthy, leafy smell. Hard to explain, but it smells good! However, the smell does not last as long as. That’s ok though, because as my hair doesn’t smell like unwashed hair, I am ok with that. A lingering smell is just a bonus.

Then, I squirt it in my hand and see how thick it is. I need conditioners with some serous results, therefore I always like them to be very thick. This one is thicker then some, and surely isn’t watery, but I wasn’t too impressed. I wasn’t sure how it would do. I would think something that sells it’s self as being “thick” and “rich” would have a more luxurious consistency.

When I first run this through my hair, I can feel the emollients going to work rich away. It instantly gives hair some slip and detangles. This is the only time I brush my hair: in the shower with conditioner. It makes brushing easy, and I can feel it making my hair soft as I work it through. I usually put on a palm-full in my hair, comb through, and then put it in a clip for the remainder of my showering to allow the shea to penetrate the hair. Then, right before I get our I rinse. With this particular one, I do not rinse it all the way, and leave some on like I would a leave in conditioner.

Results: Mediocre. They are ok, but I didn’t find it very hydrating. After a few days it would weigh down my hair more then I liked. I think it does help keep hair clean inbetween shampoos, but it isn’t anything amazing. I will use up the second bottle, but the search continues for a great, moisturizing conditioner. If you are looking for something inexpensive for dry hair I prefer the Aussie 3 minuet miracle or Moist conditioners.

Smells good, nice consistency, but didn't deliver the moisture I was hoping for. I left it on for maybe 10 minutes while I showered and the moisture slipped through the drain when I rinsed this conditioner from my hair.

Still prefer my cheapie Suave conditioners- they're the best for co-washing. IDK why I keep straying and wasting money. Le sigh.

I am African American with VERY thick, coarse hair that becomes just about unbearable after the third/fourth week of my relaxer. After reading an article that recommended this for AA hair, I decided to give it a try- for washing rather than conditioning. It left my hair so silky and smooth that I decided to mix it in with my HG deep conditioner and I LUV what it does to my hair. Since it leaves my hair so soft, I also use about 2 teaspoons as a leave in conditioner- divine! The fact that I can find it on sale for $1.99 only makes it better- but I would definitely pay more!

Just like the shampoo version, this conditioner is EXTREMELY thick. It's very concentrated/strong too. I only need half the amount of shampoo I use. Too bad this conditioner doesn't work that well. After rinsing, it's still not conditioned, but it weighs down my hair, making it flat.

I made the mistake of purchasing this without checking reviews, but since Target had a set of the shampoo/conditioner and I had a $1 coupon, I got them both for $4. I figured it couldn't hurt, since even if it wasn't the best, I can usually deal. This, however, is just horrible. I used them both one time, and I already want to throw them out. For a while I was using L'Oreal Vive, and I loved how soft and smooth even before it dried. This is one of those conditioners that feels great while it's on, but once you rinse it out your hair feels dried out and weighed down. Normally, I can easily run a brush through my hair while it's still wet, but using this caused my hair to tangle up and snag. Blow drying was difficult, and once I was done my hair looked so damaged and dry, even though I have very few split ends. I definitely won't be repurchasing either one of these.

Ughh what a horrible conditioner! My long hair is very thick and dry all the time and this did not benefit my hair or give it moisture at all. After using this my hair just layed flat which is very unusual for me since it tends to have alot of volume. It left my hair frizzier than usual and left greasy buildup ,I dont feel like it really cleans that well.I never have any luck with Herbal essences shampoos and conditioners and this one does not live up to its promises at all.

I love this conditioner! I tend to alternate the conditioners that I use (for no other reason than boredom I think) and I always seem to come back to this one. It does condition very well, it's inexpensive, and it smells pretty good (like a 7 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best).
