The effects very noticeable in a short time.
I've used this for about 2-3 weeks, and my face's tone is already different to the shade of my neck, and my heck doesn't get much sun!
For the girls who want to get rid of a tan or look paler this is a decent product. My friends raved about the lightening effects before I decided to buy it, so here are 3 girls who got lightened skin.
However, Kose actually told me that this would help fade dark marks, but it didn't. I have pale enough skin to start with, so I figured that the only thing that could lighten were my acne marks. But, it did't work. I wasn't too happy about the promise that didn't come true.
2/28/2013 edit: My face keeps getting lighter while the dark spots didn't go away. In the mornings after I've used the masks the evening before, my skin looks somewhat like Rosalie from Twilight, and I'm not kidding.
3/7/2013 I stopped using it. It's not helping my scars, and it's making me breakout where I never did before.
4/22/2013 My skin is still pale although i haven't used the product in a long time. I wish I never tried this. Another skincare product that will remain unused....

This is my HG for toners! Whenever I try other toners that are more inexpensive, I'll always go back to this one. It refreshes my skin and doesn't leave it feeling tight. My skin feels soft and ready for my moisturizer. There are times that I don't even follow-up and my skin still feels great! I've never broken out from using this product either. The only downfall is the price =[ Fortunately, C.O. Bigelow had a sale on these awhile back and I was able to buy several bottles for about 15 dollars each.

Absolutely amazing toner. Since my skin is dry, sensitive, and prone to break-outs from 99.9% of the products out there, not to mention maturing, I was afraid the alcohol content in this toner would dry out my skin. But to my surprise this toner really worked miracles for me. Prior to using this toner, my forehead and chin were very dry and ashy, with dry patches around my upper cheek area. I can honestly say that after the first application, my dry and ashy forehead and chin were no longer a problem. Compare to Vaseline and Aquaphor which took several days to help with dry patches, two days of usage took care of my dry patches. 1 week of usage gave me brighter skin and a much more even skin tone. Absorbs quickly, hydrates intolerant skin, didn't cause break-outs, brighten and clarified my overall skin tone. The toner does have fragrance which almost cancels out the alcohol smell. However I find that it's a very nice smell. The price is not cheap. I purchased mine from Seattle's Uwajimaya Beauty Shop by the hello kitty area for $62.00. However, for what it has done to my skin, I will repurchase again.

Great skincare line, as is Awake (its sister brand). A huge fan of Awake products, I went to the counter and asked for something that would brighten my skin and help with any discoloration. The SA recommended either this or the Cream Excellent. Since I had a cream that needed to be used, went with the Lotion. I wash my face, apply the Lotion and don't wipe it off, then apply a night cream. Skin was brighter and more vibrant after the first use. Will probably get the Cream when Lotion runs out. Highly recommend this line, in combination with Awake.

LOVE this stuff. Provides immediate brightening. I'm really not sure how it does it, but it does. One of my favorite Sekkisei products for sure. Expensive for a toner, but worth it, so yes, I will buy it again. $60 for 6 oz. But it's not just a toner, imo it's a treatment and provides a lot more than regular toners. After using it my skin always appears more bright and even toned. I am not sure about long term because I use so many things I never know what is doing what, but even if it's just temporary, that's good enough for me. Sekkisei also makes a brightening mask that is also excellent for brightening and evening the tone temporarily.
