UGH! This left my hair a sticky gummy mess with no shine. This was so bad after 3 tries I tossed it in the garbage, horrible stuff....save your money.

I have very fine, very thin hair and have experienced some hairloss due to a medical condition so I need all the body I can get for my hair.
I brought this shampoo and the matching conditioner in the hopes of making my hair look like fuller, thicker, denser hair. I didn't have very high hopes for it because it didn't have many positive reviews, but I love John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette line and Luxurious Volume was on special for $10AUD each so I decided, what the heck I'll give it a go. The first time I used it when I blowdried my hair it looked and felt thicker. I styled it and later in the day when I put it in a ponytail, my ponytail actually felt thicker. And since using the shampoo and conditioner, I've had to use LESS styling products to get the volume I need! It really does volumize your hair and is safe for color treated hair! I also like the fact that it's a clear shampoo so it doesn't weigh your hair down and feels like it really cleans and removes any dulling buildup/residue. Kind of like a clarifying shampoo but not harsh at all, gentle and nourishing. The matching conditioner is light yet still a good detangler. I'm going to keep using this set as long as it keeps providing the volume I desperately need. I currently rotate it with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration to keep my hair moisturised and also so my hair doesn't get used to the same brand. Plus I like variety in my shower =) The fragrance is very mild, pleasant, soapy, clean smelling. I'm definitely going to buy the Root Booster/Lifter from this line also, because its alcohol free and I've read good things about it. I recommend this shampoo and the matching conditioner to those women who have thin, fine or straight hair with absolutely no volume on its own.

This shampoo is by far the best shampoo for my straight limp hair!
It lathers really well, my hair feels clean and I love the subtle smell. It does give body to my hair, but not as much as I expected. I use the same conditioner afterwards, and the duo works together really well and gives body, shine and softness.
I have already bought my second tubes, and when they run out I will go back to it again after I have used something else in between (I tend to change my shampoo brand every few months).
Overall, a very good shampoo in affordable price.

Bought this with the conditioner and first time I used it, it worked! My hair had more volume and felt really soft. Second time I used it, not as much volume, but hair was still soft but I noticed more flyaways. Third time, zero volume, limp, dry hair and serious flyaways. Thank goodness for ulta's return policy!

OMG - I love this stuff. Everything about it. The scent, what it does to my hair. When I use it, my DH spends the evening with his nose in my hair - he loves the way it smells. It does seem a bit drying (I use the condtioner in this line also) but once a week I use a treatment and my hair has been awesome. I'm trying some new things right now, but I have a feeling I'll be going back to this often.

This was horrible, what a waste of money! It left my hair completely flat, and my hair looked greasy. I used this with the matching conditioner and never again.

I've only used this product once, and I could tell a difference in my hair right away. I read a lot of negative or 'meh' reviews and I couldn't disagree more.
I have EXTREMELY fine hair. I can barely keep bobby pins or a teased poof in my hair. It's really depressing.
So I thought I'd take a chance on this. Hey, it was only 5 bucks at Walmart. I did exactly as the package says, used the conditioner, the blow dryer lotion and the mousse.
Not only did my hair actually feel clean, it smelled delicious, and I saw immediate results.
How often can you say that about a beauty product? I'm definitely buying it again, and for the time being, I recommend it to other girls with really fine, life-less hair.

Dried out the ends over my hair from the first wash and made it weird. Made my hair seem less full and stringy. Do not recommend. Didn't do anything to my hair.

I like this shampoo, but I expected more volume from this. I have fine, frizzy and split end prone hair, and this shampoo leaves it really shiny and without any frizz. Although I have to say that my roots become a little greasier with this one, I think this is maybe due to the silicones in it. Overall this is a good shampoo, but I won't repurchase it, I like the Color Renew (the purple one) so much better, and I also want to try other shampoos from the John Frieda range.

I'm surprised by the negative reviews! I absolutely love this shampoo. While I don't think it's a miracle worker or anything, I didn't really expect it to be. No such thing exists! Anyway, I think it smells really clean and fresh, and it cleans my hair very well. I'm not sure about removing residue because I don't wear an overabundance of product in my hair (no hairspray, no mousse 95% of the time) but as far as I can tell, it doesn't leave anything unsavory behind. What I noticed the most about it is that it does seem to give my hair a little bit of extra oomph in the volume department. It also makes it super shiny (I've gotten compliments when I've used it!) and it just feels stronger. The biggest downside would have to be the price, but it's not completely unreasonable either.

This shampoo is nothing but average across the board. It doesn't moisturize, add volume, leave residue, contain any special ingredients, or even smell like anything. It comes in a plain blue tube and it cleans your hair. I may buy it again if I feel like having something simple around for days I'm feeling uninspired.

hmm bit surprised by the negative comments for this shampoo. i have very thin hair and this is the first volume shampoo i have tried and i think its really good, it does add volume to my hair when i blow dry it that i would never of had before. i wasnt expecting a lot because shampoo is not a miracle worker i didnt think it was going to suddenly give me a head full of thick hair, but i do notice a difference it cleans my hair well makes it shine and smells nice!

I love this shampoo! My hair is not fine but not thick, it's like fine-medium. I shampooed, then towel-dried my brown hair. I did my all-around hair blow-drying, then I brushed my hair because I was going to put it in a high ponytail that day. I didn't expect for my hair to STAY voluminous (from blow-drying hair). I was surprised because whenever I brush my hair it goes flat. But NOT with this shampoo. Then, I straightened my hair with a normal flat-iron (straightening my hair tends to make my hair go FLAT) and I brushed it. I was super surprised with the results. This KEPT my hair voluminous. It also made my hair aswell shiny, VERY soft, and sleek.
P.S. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because it was my first time using it and I wanted to see how well it worked overtime.
:) xx

This product was only so-so. I too was perfectly happy using John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, which was either discontinued or Target just was not selling it anymore. Anywho, that product worked SO well, I figured the Luxurious volume full splendor would work well too. To my ultimate dismay, this product gives HALF the volume the other previous one did, if any at all. What a disappointment. Now I have no idea which product to use. DX

Like another reviewer, I used to used John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette Volumizing Shampoo. I loved that so much that I used it for 4 years straight. Recently they discountinued that and I switched to this as the closest JF replacement I could find. I would say this is a good clarifying product (gets all the styling products out of hair), but for volume this is really so-so. It's not a bad product - it cleans my hair nicely and leaves it shiny and soft, but being marketed as a volumizing shampoo, it really doesn't deliver as expected. I will probably not repurchase unless the BB line miraculously comes back.

This has been an absolutely fantastic drugstore find for me. I got it for a couple of bucks because I combined a manufacturer's coupon with a drugstore sale.
I have a lot of hair but the individual strands are very fine. It is also extremely straight and can look limp without blow-drying--and I rarely have time for a full-on blow-out.
I had been using whatever color-safe shampoos were around the house (everything from supercheap drugstore brands to Nexxus) and had sort of resigned myself to looking subpar on the days when I couldn't blowdry my hair.
I only shampoo my hair 2-3 times a week, and I condition each time I shampoo (with the conditioner in the same line). Since using this product, my hair has become bouncier, shinier, and fuller. A lot of volume products I've used made my hair feel dirty. This has been the opposite for me--my hair looks naturally full and I haven't had to blowdry it at all.
I've also noticed that the little white flakes (not dandruff, probably just dry skin) that I used to get around my scalp have disappeared. This shampoo/conditioner has really improved my confidence in my hair again.

I always liked JF products but this totally weighed down my fine hair. I was hoping for all the volume JF guaranteed on the label but no cigar here, ladies....this product sucks....I'm moving on to Neutragena's Triple Renewal Volume Boosting Shampoo.

Like the conditioner, the Full Splendor shampoo is the run-of-the-mill drugstore shampoo. Nothing voluminous, nothing spectacular. Works well as a clarifying shampoo, moreso than a volume-building product. As with the conditioner, it comes in a 250 mL package (about 8.3 oz.) which lasts me 3 to 4 months, with daily use. Wouldn't repurchase.

Normally I love John Frieda products. This 'volume' version, though it cleans well, certainly doesn't create any noticeable volume for me at all. I love the John Frieda tubes that the shampoos and conditioners come in, though! thats the only good thing about the shampoo, IMO. I wouldn't purchase it again, because it doesn't do what it states.
