This product has tremendously improved my flat iron routine. Since I am 42 weeks post relaxer, I have been straightening my hair biweekly. This really smooths my hair. I apply a tiny bit after blow drying, as a little goes a long way. This makes flat ironing a breeze. Hair feels incredibly soft and smooth. I apply a tiny bit more once I am done and my hair is soft and shiny for days. Since I don't use much, it will take me a while to use up the bottle, but I will definitely repurchase.

This improves drying time and works just as well as the actual brand product.

I love love love love this hair serum. Did I mention how much I love it?
This hair serum saved my hair. I was bleaching and highlighting and just overall killing my hair for fun.. :( I was using the frizzease serum that was supposed to smooth my hair and protect it from the heat of the blow dryer and the flat iron and in my case also the curling iron.. ( I know I'm bad.)
This made my hair smooth and sleek and really cut my drying time down to about 6 mins as opposed to 15. My hair is so soft and silky and shiny and just amazing I love this product so much It reminds me of when I didn't use to color and torture my hair.
Now I gave the packaging a 4 because I love what's written on it and how big it is I can't say I love the top too much of this precious stuff comes out of that huge top.

My miracle moment for this product came the day after I put it in my hair. I showered at night and used this in my hair and let it air dry. Yes, it stopped the frizziness, but I wasn't overly wowed by it. That was, until I got out my flat iron the next morning. Like buttah. Hair went through it like buttah, people! What used to take me close to an hour to do, I can now do in half the time. Effortless and flawless. I will buy this over and over. My only gripe is that my hair has the most annoying static I have ever had in my life, no doubt caused by this product. That's why I gave it a 4 lippie, not a 5. You don't need a lot, it's inexpensive and easy to get your hands on if you have a Sally's nearby. Almost tempted to give this HG status for flat ironing products, but I'm gonna hold off for now. ;)

I originally bought this product when I began styling my hiar straight with a blowdryer. I usually diffuse it curly and very rarely use a straightener. I did find that this product shortened by drying time, though I wouldn't say it cut it in half. I love how silky the serum feels when applying it to my hair. You should be careful when applying because at first it seems as if you are not applying enough of the product and before you know it you have a head full of grease. Less is more here, just like with any type of oil product. This serum does leave my hair feeling silky and shiny, which I love. I use a very small amount near my roots because I have major fly aways. I have yet to try this product when I diffuse, but since I have frizz prone hair, i will definitely give it a try.

This review is for GVP Smoothing Balm (Compare to Super Skinny Relaxing Balm - Paul Mitchell).
I get this product at Sally's for about $6 bucks. I will not use anything else as far as a cream, gel, or mousse on my hair, and believe me I've tried them all to little or no avail. This balm is perfect for fine, thick, and wavy/curly hair that has a tendency to frizz. IT NEVER weighs my hair down, flakes, or makes my hair dry or greasy. It does exactly what it is supposed to - slightly relaxes and smooths my hair - essentially tames the frizz. I love the smell - light and not overpowering. Besides a spritz of hairspray or thermal spray (only when I use a flat-iron or curling iron) - this is all I ever need and use on my hair.
Give this a try!

I have both products the GVP and also the paul mitchell they are the exact same. You only need a little on the top for the flyaways and if your ends are dry like mine and your good to go!

This product is amazzinggg!! Ive been using it for about 6 months and thought it was just okay, but i stopped using it one day and my hair was soo frizzy. This product keeps my hair manageable and detangled. My hair is ridiculously fried; i've bleached it many times, dyed and damaged the heck out of it over the past two years. im trying to grow out my natural color, and this helps me so much. i use it right after a shower and work a quarter size amount through my hair. i dont know what id do without it! i havent tried the paul mitchel one, but this one is so great i dont even want to try it.

I didn't feel like this worked. It felt very similar to CHI's Silk Infusion. Both just made my hair feel greasy and look shiny. That's about it. This bottle is actually large and I wish I would have returned it in time to get my money back.

Just got this stuff and used it for the first time yesterday. I didn't think much of it and didn't expect it to work, but surprisingly it did!
I have long, overprocessed hair that is a biotch to comb out after showering, and it takes for-freakin-ever to dry. I also usually need to use A LOT of product to achieve good results.
I applied this into my hair after towel drying. I only put in about nickle size amount and distributed it throughout the best way I could.
Firstly, the product is clear in the bottle, like any serum. It has the same silky texture as other serums. I am not exactly fond of the fact that it smells a lot like Victorias's Secret Love Spell (blah) but thankfully that scent does not linger in my hair at all.
Drying time was cut nearly in half! I was shocked that it actually worked. It also made my hair a bit more shiny and smooth despite the fact that I put a gel and hairspray into my hair afterwards. It's the next day and my hair is still smooth and much better looking than usual...less kinks and knots. I really like this stuff and am glad I tried it. Will repurchase though this bottle will probably last me a while.

This stuff is great! I was a devoted user of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum for years, ever since I found out that was what a co-worker who was my "hair idol' used. This product is much cheaper than Super Skinny, and does the exact same thing for my hair. I have long, curly, very frizz-prone hair that is also a little damaged on the ends from highlights. With this smoothing serum, I can let it air-dry into non-frizzy curls, or flatiron it without that annoying "flyaway" look.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff. I have bought and used the Paul Mitchell brand and yes, this is the same exact thing I swear! Works just like it. Cuts down drying time and makes my hair smooth. I think GVP products work great.

I got a perm done with my hair about 8 months ago so most of it is still very curly and very frizzy whenever I blow dry or straighten it. I used this along with the GVP root lifter, and after I finished styler, my hair looked like I got it done at a salon! I love this stuff and can't wait to try out the rest of the line!

I've just started using this product and I've already noticed a huge difference in my hair! My hair is kind of weird - it can't decide if it wants to be full on curly or just wavy. Well, I put this in my dried, wavy-ish hair and it really smooths down the frizz without pulling out any of the curls! I have a major frizz problem and this fixes it! I plan on using it some more and then updating my review in case it stops working or something. So far though, its amazing!

I am so glad i heard about this product! I was always in lovee with the paul mitchell version since I tried it, but $30 for the bottle was a lot to me. I was always trying to find other products that compared but never liked anything as much until i tried this product. It works just the same as the super skinny serum but is much cheaper. It makes my hair dry quicker when i blow dry it and gives great results when i use this before i straighten it. Some people say it is too oily for their hair but honestly I have never had that problem. I guess it depends on your hair type (mine is pretty thick so maybe thinner hair would react differently to this product?) It makes my hair soft, shiny and best of all protected. Cant rave about this product enough. If you like the paul mitchell super skinny serum kind definitely give this one a try you'll be more than pleased.

GREAT product. It works just as well as the Paul Mitchell version (I have both right now). I have thick hair and this product helps it dry so much faster! I use it right after washing my hair, but I start from mid-shaft and down. Too much of this product near the roots can make hair look oily. I have used this product for 3 years and it's always been awesome.
Save your money and buy this product instead of the PM version. It works just the same and is MUCH cheaper. The only thing better about the PM version is that it comes in a pump, where this product comes in a flip-top, like a shampoo bottle.

I am ambivalent about this product, but I was ambivalent about the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum too. I don't notice very much improvement in drying time with either product, maybe 5 minutes tops. It does have great frizz control but I have to be very careful and not put too much in as it can weigh my hair down. It has been years since I tried the Paul Mitchell, but from what I can recall of it, this generic version is exactly the same. I would not repurchase either one--the Paul Mitchell is too expensive and neither one of them give me as good a result as a cheaper Suave product I have found. But for people who really like the super skinny serum, this is a great and cheap replacement.

i have never used the original paul mitchel super skinny serum but all the ingredients are the same to the generic version n i read good reviews on this so i went out n got it ...this generic version is 8fl oz and cost me 7.99 at sallys beauty supply n to me its pretty cheap for somtin that works so good n its lasting me for a good while i had my bottle for 3 or 4 months now n im not even half way down the bottle n i used this atleast 5 times a week. i dont blow dry my hair but i put this in like almost a quarter size amount n i let my hair air dry it leaves it so much softer and easier to straighten n it doesnot leave my roots greasy at all.n it smells really really really good i wish the smell would last longer in the hair

Not feeling this. Maybe I'm using it wrong? It seriously made my hair worse. After blow-drying, my hair was poofy and had tons and tons of fly-aways. It was silky to the touch, but it didn't help my frizz at all. I usually use a pomade-type product (L'Oreal Out of Bed Texturizer) and smooth with coconut oil. I'll keep trying this. Maybe I need to put it on dry hair (last) after using my usual products? Will try to edit this later.

When I first tried this product, I hated it. I have fine hair that was bleached pale blonde and is now back to its original dark brown. I wanted something to add shine and help smooth the frizz. My mistake was that I simply used too much product. Now, all I do is coat my palms with the serum and rub over the length of my hair, avoiding the top and roots. It absolutely cuts down on drying time and my hair actually looks shiny..not dull. I've never tried the Paul Mitchell version but I doubt that I'll ever bother. Love this!
edit: I don't know if its the silicones or not but this stuff has virtually quit working. I even use a weekly clarifying shampoo. My hair is looking slightly dry, definitely not silky or even straighter than when I don't use it. :(
