This is a review for the new version of Skin Nanny now called British Nanny.
I absolutely LOVE this moisturiser I have been on the hunt for a good winter moisturiser for my sensitive/dry skin for years! British Nanny keeps my skin hydrated and moisturised all day! I never need to re apply, you only need to use a small amount so it lasts for quite some time. I also like that it has an SPF 30, yet doesn't smell of sunscreen or leave any white residue on my skin. It is quite expensive compared to other Lush moisturisers but as it last so long and works so well for me I happy to pay the extra for it, a definite re- purchase.

I've had issues with dry/dehydrated skin for years, no matter what I've tried my skin was always dull and lizard like! It also doesn't help that I'm quite a heavy smoker. I decided to try this after reading reviews online. This along with a lush cleanser has transformed my skin, it is an extremely heavy product but its what my skin needs and doesn't clog my pores like the medicated brands I've tried! For the first time in years theres no dry patches for my foundation to catch on etc. My face is now glowing and I love the smell to. I'd prefer if it was in a pump bottle though but I could easily transfer it to one if needed. I'm not sure if it would be suited to oily skins or for people living in a hot climate, but for people with dry skin living in countries where its just mostly wind and rain 12 months of the year its very useful. I've knocked some marks of for the advice I was given in the lush shop about the SPF, I enquired if it was both UVB as well as UVA protection and the lady serving me didn't really know, she read the package and then said it was. There's no such information given on the pot so she was obviously thinking on the spot to make a sale!

This is the review for British Nanny which happens to be the 'new' Skin Nanny. If you're the type of La Mer créme user and enjoy creams that truly hydrate your skin with a little warm oil film on your skin you will loooove this.
I'm 20(!) and german. So winters here are COLD. combining this with SPF i think this créme that smells like LILLIES and ORCHIDS (it also contains orchid water and lilly infusion). I like to prevent better than to cure.. My skin normally tends to redness and irritations.. and it really helped! My skin was really supple and firm.
Though i have combination skin and sometimes blemishes!! Give it a try and just use a PEA-SIZE! a little goes a loooooong way!

I have come to the conclusion that most Lush products don't agree with me. Despite the fact that I have ridiculously dry skin this is far too oily, the 'natural' ingredients only serve to irritate my skin more than it already is and it's ridiculously expensive. I have one and a half of these left and I don't know what to do with them.

Picked this up about two months ago. I had looked at it prior to that but the vaseline-like texture of the testers (in multiple stores) had always turned me off to it. I finally just got a sample, and despite the texture and what I think is an odd but very mild and transient smell, it ended up working really well to hydrate during the cold dry winter months. I guess my fear was that the thickness of it would end up breaking me out, but thankfully, this wasn't the case. I should note that when I went back to buy the full size, the new unopened product was a more whipped and creamy texture and color than the testers they had out (which I like better). I have been doing nasty winters for years, and have always (!) ended up drying up and flaking each time. Skin Nanny is the only thing that saved me this winter. In fact, I recently got some other moisturizers for the holidays, and within 2-3 days of playing with these new acquisitions, my skin dried out and started peeling like crazy. I went right back to Skin Nanny. This is definitely the best for dry winter skin. Took off a lippie for the weird smell and tub packaging, although I can live with these drawbacks. Last thing re the rumors of discontinuation... When I bought Skin Nanny the SA warned me that in three months, both Skin Nanny and Ultralight would be discontinued to "make way" for the new Skin Protector (Protectant?) that they've been advertising since the summer ad. They were selling the remaining stock, but after that, no more. I guess there's always retro...

I Like how it has an herbal-ish scent to it that is refreshing and soothing at the same time. I have combo/ sensitive skin so I will need more time with this product to know if it is a keeper. But as far as the Santa Barbara Lush store, they have Skin Nanny in stock as of 11/02/10. I wish they sold s smaller "trial" size as well.
SO "SKIN NANNY" IS NOT DISCONTINUED HERE.

I am deeply in LOVE with this moisturizer. It seems to be the only thing which is actually WORKING on my skin right now. Normally I have oily skin, and I used this only at night, but somehow my skin is drying out like crazy and now I use this day and night and I love it! It actually makes me look like I'm wearing makeup- my skin is plump and even.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this has been DISCONTINUED by LUSH. I am really upset. But I'm in the process of finding some kind of replacement (and I'll keep y'all posted).
p.s.
in the interest of full disclosure: I actually work for LUSH.

I have been searching everywhere for a moisturiser for my very dry skin and have finally found something that is rich enough. I only use this at night because it does have a very oily texture but it doesn't break out my skin or block my pores. Dry skin sufferers- search no more, this is it :)

I was given a sample of this to try for a few days. I think those with a drier skin will benefit from this cream, as even though I have dry areas on my cheeks, this was too heavy for my skin. Also, I found the smell rather strong and offputting. But give it a go if you have dry skin and like a cream with spf.

This is my HG moisturizer. Yes, it does have a thick vaseline-like feeling, but it is the most amazing thing I have ever put on my face. I have very dry skin and it saved my face this past winter. I make sure to put it on over a toner so the product spreads out more and it's not quite so heavy. I used this both night and day during the winter. It took my a little while to get used to the heavier feeling on my skin but never had any problems with it interfering with my makeup.
Although I have dry skin, this moisturizer is a little heavy for me in the summer so I stopped using it. And dry flakes on my forehead and around my nose started appearing. I now use it 2x a week at night and that has been perfect for me.

I bought this to use as a night cream and used to use vanishing cream during the day. Now I use this during the day and vanishing cream at night.. It smells wonderfully floral and feels a bit like vaseline. During the day, I apply it sparingly and massage it in really well. Then I let it absorb for about 10 minutes or so. My foundation and concealor go on great over this. It's the best primer i've ever used. It doesn't feel heavy or greasy at all. If you don't overdo it and let it sink in a while, your skin will feel soft and supple, not greasy (unless maybe you have very oily skin to begin with). I have combination skin. Oily forehead, dry around nose, sometimes drier in other parts/flaky due to use of proactive. I've also tried Gorgeous, but the only thing I liked about it was the smell. This has not caused me to break out. I also use this over my regular eye cream, and it moisturizes better than anything else I've ever tried. I do use concealer, a light foundation , and then a light dusting of studio fix powder. I order this from the UK, where it's drastically cheaper. Best moisturizer/spf/primer I've ever used. I have really seen a difference in the overall tone and texture of my skin, and my eye area looks better as well. Many people say this is only for people with very dry skin, but I disagree. Perhaps if you don't wear makeup or powder this could feel a bit oily on already oily skin. Great product, great company, great ingredients!

There's no reason to love this product except for the product itself. The price simply blew me away ("whaa?! 39 euros for one LUSH product?????") and let's face it, LUSH packaging for moisturisers is simply crap. For the price you pay you'd expect a decent, fancy looking container, not a cheap-looking cardboard one which isn't that convenient either.
However: the cream itself is amazing! I bought this because my Clarins Hydraquench simply wasn't moisturising enough for me anymore. This cream is alot richer and I need alot less (which makes up for the price a bit).
HOWEVER: a problem i get alot with very rich creams is that they break me out on my chinarea. Not with this stuff! I even get the impression that I actually get less spots allround! Love!
The people who complain that this cream is too heavy for daily use should try the following: use vichy waterspray (or evian or whichever you prefer) on your face and while your face is still quite damp apply a small amount of cream. It makes it so much easier to spread it out and will make it easier to not overdo the amount. If you don't do it like this, yes, you will probably overapply leading to a very greacy face which makes it impossible to apply make up afterwards.
This also has SPF 30 which I really appreciate.
In short: very nice and rich cream in a crap container, great for dry skin with flakeys. If you don't have dry skin I would stay away from this. Lasts a LOOOONG time (even when you use it morning and night).
Took a lippy off for the high price and stupid container.

I had gotten a generous sample of skin nanny. First off, if you wear make up, this would not be a good moisturizer to use under your make up. It it extremely heavy and oily. I might of put too much on, but it is heavier than some sunblock. I had used this moisturizer without make up and just to lay out by the pool with. It has SPF30 which is great for summer days. I don't think I would buy an actual full size skin nanny, but if you don't wear make up much, then this is for you.

This is amazing! The best moisurizer I have ever tried. At first I thought it was too rich for me, but then after using it for a few days I could not stop touching my face, it was so soft. It also seemed plumper. I use it every night now, I put it over Retin-A and by itself. Sometimes I use it in the day but very sparingly. The key is to use very little, a little goes a long way. It was sold out at my store recently so the word must be getting out. It may be time to stock up!

Got a sample of this in a Lush store after reading mostly positive reviews on Makeupalley. A little has lasted a long time, so although it is expensive, it will probably last longer than other brands.
It is very rich and has an SPF 30, so will be effective against the sun and harsh UK weather. (I get sun on one half of my face when driving resulting in redness and burst capillaries).
It goes on like butter and smells gorgeous. I don't put this on my forehead as it's quite oily anyway. I will definatley purchase this. It gives me quite a dewy look which is nice.
Found out this has been discontinued in UK stores - AAAAAGGGHH. I'll contact them to complain.
Complained about this and now they've released the same formulation under a new name - British Nanny - YEY!

This is my all time favourite moisturizer. I hope they will make this in eternity, so I can buy it over and over again. It has everything I wish for. I have a very dry skin, and this is very rich and thick, but melts with skin contact - I guess due to the cocoa butter that's in it.
My skin feels great since using this, not dry at all. I have tried several moisturizers for dry skin, but none with this great result. Also after going through really cold weather, with snow, wind, rain etc., my skin still doesn't feel dry.
Then there is the SPF 30, and I'm very pale and get sunburned really fast, so that is definitely a plus.
Also, it's cruelty free (not tested on animals), contains a lot of natural or organic ingrediënts, and it's smells wonderful!
Only 'bad' thing about this product: the price. In the Netherlands it's €39,95. That's a lot. But, because I love this moisturizer, I would buy it again. And again, and again...

Before this I used Skin Drink because of the price, but it wasn't enough for my dry skin so I bought this instead even thought it costs a fortune. But I do not regret it! It is great! And the consistency.. If you compare the thickness with their cheaper moisturizers this one is clearly a winner, and it lasts so long! I've got some trouble with the smell though.. It just doesn't smell like something a 19 year old would where. But it is an anti ageing cream too, so I can understand that. It also leaves a film on your face that is quite annoying sometimes, but also makes your skin feel moisturized at the same time. I love this, and I think I will repurchase, but first I want to try Skins Shagri La.

It takes a bit of getting used to due to it's consistency. But once you do, it's fabulous! I use a serum first ( body shop aloe vera) which makes it easier to apply the cream. Am an outdoor person, I feel this cream really protect my skin from the elements.

Update: I think this is my favorite moisturizer ever. In fact, I can't stop touching my face because my skin feels incredibly soft, and smooth, and flake-free!!
This is probably the richest skin cream I have ever tried. I have become a huge fan of LUSH products. And Skin Nanny was recommended to me by a very helpful SA after I complained about my painfully dry skin.
I bulked at the price first. But after using up 2 samples, I decided to get it. It has put an end to my constantly dry, parched, and flaky skin. I use it every other night, alternating with Retin-A, and every morning under my sunscreen and m/u. And for the 1st time in a very long time, at the end of the day, my skin still feels soft and supple.
Scent: This smells incredible. Not that you should judge a moisturizer by its scent, but I really look forward to putting this on everytime.
Texture: It's a very thick, yet fluffy cream that's like soft butter that literally melts on the skin on contact. I apply a very small amount for my entire face, then add just a little bit more around my eyes.
Funny story: I recenty went on a 5-hr mountain hike with 2 guys. And both of them got such bad sun and wind burn that they asked me for something that would sooth their skin. So I gave them some Skin Nanny. One of the guys liked it so much he asked for the name so he could buy it for himself :-)

This is a lovely moisturiser, great sun protection with SPF 30 but far too rich for me. Maybe as I get older I'll switch from paradise regained to this but at the moment my face looks like an oil slick a few minutes after applying. Smells INCREDIBLE though!
UPDATE: I've been using this for about a month now and OMG my skin loves it! I realised that I was using way too much when I first started (a thin covering on the pad of my index finger) but it turns out that I only need about a quarter of that for lovely deep moisture but no greasiness. Its a beautiful moisturiser and I will continue to use it as a day cream especially as winter is upon us! Updated to 5 stars!
