I received a sample of this at Sephora. It is AMAZING. This botanical relaxing balm is the only thing that makes straightening my wavy, thick, long hair easy. It is expensive, but worth every penny to me. I put a quarter-size amount on damp hair, comb through, and blow-dry while brushing my hair with a regular brush. That's it. I go over my hair a little with a straightening iron and I'm done.
I've used several different straightening balms, from drug-store to higher-end, and they all resulted the same - me having to section my hair, blow-dryer in one hand, round-barrel brush in the other, attempting to straighten for 20-25 minutes while I sweat and turn red from all the heat. And I STILL end up with bumps underneath.I am amazed with how well this works and will keep buying it.

Love this stuff, it just makes my hair behave. Helps with frizz. One of the few items that I actually repurchased because of a sample from Sephora.

NC25 Chinese, wavy thick hair in dry climate, acne prone.
Makeup/skincare ingredients heavy on dimethicone causes breakouts, so I was careful to choose a non-cone hair product for blowouts. In fact, I brought it 2x to my stylist as the only product she can use. I was excited she liked it, and she got my hair shiny and smooth w/out frying my hair (blowdryer only, no flat iron). So I figured great, got stylist approval...
EXCEPT after 2 weeks, where my Phyto coated bangs are touch my forehead and one side of my face, I am breaking out! I go 2-3 days in between washings, so possibly that's it... but my only other option left is to try the John Masters Organics Shine On gel... cross fingers.

This has quickly become an HG for me and I hope it continues to work for me in the summer as well when my hair is at its hardest to manage. I love that you can put this on wet hair. I do find that my hair is less frizzy and it has become easier to work with. This product is pricey but so worth it!

Funny enough, I use this for my very fine, limp virgin hair. I usually use volumizing products, like some kind of intense mousse, but after staying at my parents over the holidays, all I could find in terms of styling products in the bathroom was this. I don't even put conditionner in my hair and have to use clarifying shampoo every time I wash it (once every 2 days), so for the most part, anything labelled for frizzy or coarse hair is usually a no-no for me.
I gave it a shot anyway, i squeezed out a quarter sized amount and applied it to the bottom half of my mid-length hair. It doesn't have a greasy, siliconey feeling, which I was very thankful for. It actually made my hair feel instantly "healthier" and have more substance, if that makes any sense. After blow drying, my hair was so shiny and full of body. I used it over the past week every time i washed my hair to see if it was a fluke and it was not! Even my mom commented how healthy and great my hair was looking.
I'm definitely purchasing a tube of my own as soon as I get back home. It does to my hair exactly what I've always wanting the volumizing mousse to do, with the added bonus of shine and healthy looking body.

Love this! I've been using it on my damp hair every time I wash it (about every other day) for a month and my hair is noticeable better! It's soft and smooth, which it didn't used to be, and it stays straight a lot better than it used to. I went out dancing last night and normally my hair would go frizzy/wavy/puffy after ten minutes, but I was out for four hours and my hair stayed close to perfect! I couldn't believe it. Very impressed. Definitely worth the $24, considering I once paid $200 for a brazilian blowout that did the same thing and didn't last as long as this tube wil last me.
I like to use a quarter-size amount of this for my long hair, and sometimes I add a small drop of LaCoupe Shine & Smooth Relax Straightening Balm.

My hair is very wavy and extremely frizzy. This doesn't weigh my hair down or make it look oily. It makes my hair soft and much more manageable. The only problem is I need to use a generous helping of it. It goes quickly but it's definitely worth it!

I tried this again after having used it years ago. I must say that it seems to be working! I have used it twice so far (wash my hair every other day.) it seemed a little better when I used a quarter size vs nickel size. I mixed it with some other products (gel one day and added serum the next time.) My hair is naturally wavy/ frizzy and just wants to revert to that condition if it's humid or as the day goes by. This helped to reduce frizz by quite a bit. Even if my hair got a little wavier it was not frizzy. I don't think it added shine, so I add other serums for that. The packaging could be better. The squeezable metal tube could crack with time. Phyto is pretty expensive but feels very luxurious to use. I will definitely repurchase!

I have very coarse, thick hair and this product is a lifesaver. I must say, however, that it requires quite a bit of product. Unlike other products, though, I don't have to worry about getting it too close to the roots. I apply it liberally on damp hair and blow dry with a ceramic brush in sections. My hair stays straight, soft, and shiny until I wash it. Also the metal packaging makes it really easy to squeeze all the product out, no waste.

I'm a little bit on the fence about this product. Yes, I like it that it's all natural and quite affordable in where I live, but it doesn't defrizz all that well. I'm pretty picky about what I put on my hair because I have big hair. Big as in after putting four different smoothing products, it'll stay big. When treated right, my hair will look sex-
kitten like (and that's the neatest I can achieve) but when
treated wrong, it's horrible. This product makes a great styling base but I still have to use a serum on top to polish the look because this balm doesn't take the dry look away from my hair. I might repurchase unless I find something better.

This is the best styling product I've found, and I've tried many. My hair is fine and wavy, with a real tendency towards frizz. Most products either weigh my hair down, make it look greasy, result in build up (I refuse to use silicone-containing products for this reason) or leave my hair feeling sticky and/or crunchy. Phytodefrisant does none of these, and somehow manages to leave my hair smooth and soft without adding any weight. It's perfect for the days I wear my hair wavy (i.e. let it air-dry) and is also amazing when used before I blow-dry and straighten. Currently my HG product!! My hair is in better condition than before I started using it, partly because it's nicely moisturizing, and partly because I no longer need strong cleansers to get my hair clean (I've switched to sulfate-free shampoos). Love it, highly recommend!!!

First of all, I have unusual hair. I've been so told by hairdressers in the past. I haven't met anyone with hair texture similar to mine, so I've been on a sole hunt for what works. If you can imagine trying to tame frizzies and fluffiness of the curly hair, when each hair strand is the thickness of asian hair, you may be able to imagine what a difficult task it is. Especially to make it look 'natural' and not overloaded with products.
I've used Kerastase, moroccan oil, redken etc and they all work nicely for the first couple of days, then start to feel gross from the silicone build-up. I was getting sick of it all, so this is what I did today.
I washed my hair with Dove Beauty bar (I'm sure some of you are mortified by this...) and didn't put in any conditioner afterwards. To my surprise, I could still comb my hair the same as usual. I then put in about a macadamia nut sized amount of this into towel-dried hair, and went to sleep (I like to bobby pin my fringe to it doesn't ping up! :) )
My hair is in big waves, feel like it has nothing in it, yet it is controlled. I think we have a winner here!
P.S. Sorry for the novel - I just wanted to say this in case someone was struggling with a similar hair type!
P.P.S. my hair is thick, and about 10cm below my shoulder when curly! :)

HG product for when I straighten my hair. My hair is SPIRALLY curly, coarse, dry, and frizzy. This stuff totally helps speed the dry time, keep it really soft and silky, and also helps keep it straight for a few days. When I don't use it, I can totally feel the difference! Definitely recommend for stubborn curly girls like me!

I have veryyy frizzy, curly, damaged, unruly hair which I can never let down unless I straighten it. No kind of mousse or leave in conditioner can solve this so that being said, all the heat styling has really damaged my hair and so even when I'm done styling it, it's still coarse and somewhat frizzy. But this product actually works!!! I always blow dry my hair then go over it with a straightening iron. With this product, I have gotten the closest to replicating salon results at home. My hair is actually soft and not frizzy. another plus is that it's all natural!

I have a LOT of fine, wavy hair. I always use product before blow-drying or flat-ironing & am always on the lookout for products that are natural & can be used on my hair whether I do it straight or air-dry/wavy. The CS @ Sephora talked me into this, to be honest. Not the best product I've used but certainly not the worst. My biggest gripe about the product is that it's a leave-in that you must then use a heat-device with it to "activate" it, per the CS and what I've read. So that even if I want to be wavy, I'd have to use the diffuser on my hairdryer or end up "crispy".

I really wanted to love this; a plant-based defrizzer? No -cones? Who would have thought! Sadly, my coarse, thick Asian hair laughs at this stuff and taunts it with, "Is that all you got, punk!?" No, I find I have to use a rather liberal amount to have any smoothing effect and with that, it tends to flake and feel slightly "crunchy". Nope, not worth the price.

I love love love love this stuff. Love. It makes my hair feel light, silky, shiny, and frizz-free. I don't love the price tag, but I think it's worth it. I have long hair that is partially wavy, partially curly, lots of frizz and pouf, lots of heat damage. When I use this, I can blowdry my hair straight in less time and I often don't even bother with my flat iron. It has almost no scent (to me) and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin like so many other hair products do. I typically use about a nickel-sized dollop distributed evenly throughout my hair (which is a couple of inches past my shoulders), with no other products, and that is the perfect amount for bouncy shine. You can use more for more hold, but I find that it weighs the hair down a bit if you use too much.

This is one of my absolute favourite hair products that I will always repurchase. It doesnt matter what I am doing with my hair that day (wearing it naturally curly, straighteneing, etc) I will use this product. It works with ANY other products that I am using. Mainly because its sole purpose is to defrizz naturally curly hair. For refernce my hair is thin in texture, lots of it, curly/wavy hair. I would recommend this to anyone who has curly hair that is prone to frizz. This is great because it also doesnt have any silicones in it. I recently just discovered how much I liked it.. because I had only been using it before straightening my hair and now that Ive started to use it everyday, regardless of what I am doing with it... I am in LOVE. I will never stop using this. Yes it is expensive, but I have never been happier with any other hair product (or beauty product in general).

I got a sample of Phytodefrisant, phyto 7, and phytobrush shampoo from Ulta. I was looking for something comparable to my Kerastase Oleo Relax Masque. This is comparable if I use all three products together. The reason I don't rank it as high as Kerastase is because it takes a lot of the baume to get a good result, and I have to use it with the Phyto 7 to get my hair looking good. Also, I have to blow dry my hair to get it to look like it does with Kerastase. Another downside is that there isn't an in shower conditioner so my hair is still pretty tangled when I attempt to comb the balm through it. I still rank it high though because I really am willing to do all that stuff for shiny non frizzy hair that looks less damaged. I will probably alternate between this and Kerastase when my hair needs a change up, and it is the second best product that I have found so far (when used with phyto 7)

Seems to take an awful lot of product to have any effect, and even then the effect is minimal, and it tends to flake. Not pleased at all and the price is sky high.
