Very dissapointed with this one, for Dior you expect quality even if its not your cup of tea as a fragrance. As a previous review commented, it smells of lemon pledge. I don't think I have to say much more.

if you like the children's scent Givenchy Ptisenbon Tartine et Chocolat but find it does not last at all, you should try this. To me it has that same citrusy soft lotiony scent. But longer lasting.

Beautiful cologne for summer, fresh, clean, soapy, not at all sweet, just like a summer breeze. The lasting power is pretty good. My favorite among the three escales.

Portofino.. Italy...
This is the fragrance I liked least out of the 3 Escales but I purchased it anyway. I found that burst of citrus refreshing and fitting for summer, however the citrus is a bit masculine for my taste - im afraid people will think im wearing a men's perfume. Its very cologne like.
Its not a bad fragrance, its just too strong a citrus for me. I think this would smell amazing on a man! If I had a boyfriend I would've loved this on him.

I give this a 3 because it is not really unpleasant but is incredibly mediocre. It goes on strongly neroli/orange blossom (it is a soapy orange blossom not fresh blossom/ or sweet orange blossom) . Of course the orange blossom fades VERY fast and what is left is a shampooey "clean" type scent. Not unpleasant - but since most of the duration smells like shampoo - certainly not the money. The name Escale e Portofino is pretty lofty for such a generic perfume.

A wonderful clear, green citrus, that mellows into mediteranean florals. Very uplifting and classy. Lovely for summer, but I also like to wear this in January for my post Christmas detox!

I tried a sample and I have been using this EDT for a few days. It is the perfect summer scent: it smells of citron, orange blosson and a touch of bitter almond. Most importantly it is not sickening sweet. Due to be a light summer scent the staying power is very limited so you have to reapply during the da. The scenty is not structured, it is very basic and overpriced (hence 2 lippies). Not worth the money.

I love this fragrance! I like clean and light fragrances, and therefore this is perfect for me. The bottle is beautiful and simple. The only disadvantage is that the smell disappears in just a few hours, so you have to apply it liberally or reapply it often. I always keep coming back to this fragrance, no other perfume will match Escale à Porfofino. I live in Norway, and some of the department stores only have this fragrance during the summer, not in the winter time, which is a shame.

Escale a Portofino is a lovely burst of lemon and bergamot enhanced by citron. It reminds me quite a lot of 4711 but with far superior lasting power. It reminds me also of D & G Light Blue, not precisely, but quite a lot the same.
This is a lovely happy scent for summer. The lemon, bergamot and citron are tempered by the cyprus, cedar and galbanum base which lend depth and a mysterious note to this enchanting scent. A true delight which I highly recommend.

Mmm, how wonderful!! Bergamot is one of my favorite notes. This is a truly refreshing and clean smell. Perfect for hot, humid summer. I really really like it from the beginning to the drydown. I could take a bath in it. Since it is light and citrusy, and only comes in EdT it won't last very long (about 4 hrs?), therefore generous application is encouraged.

I'm really cravinga nice lemony, citrusy scent for warm summer days. This isn't the one. When I spray this on I feel like I'm wearing Pledge.

I love this lemony burst of citrus for those hot, humid days in summer. I would love to try a lotion in this scent - one that is not too heavy and lingers on the skin, because unfortunately, this has no staying power - it's only downfall for me and for the price, I would expect it to. It seems to last longer on my clothes than on me. The price is what would keep me from purchasing this again in the near future so I am using what I have more sparingly. If I could find 4711 (another great fragrance for hot summer days) again, I think Escale a Portofino is a lot like 4711 but maybe a little more lemony.

Escale a Portofino is one of the best straight citrus perfumes out there for those people who love citrus perfumes. The lemon note is truly lovely, realistic and refreshing and persists throughout the four or so hours this perfume lasts on my skin. However, this perfume is a one-trick pony on me - it is linear, and I can't smell the much vaunted almond note at all. There is a little orange blossom and then some musk as the scent dries down, but that is all. I love the bottle and for a quick pick-me-up it's ideal, but for me the citrus is just a little too prominent and it needs more floral notes to be worth my buying it!

This one does not work with my body chemistry. The initial spray smelled too strongly of citrus, old spice, and cigarettes.
It's a shame, however I have sniffed this on others and it was so very nice, so I know it's definitely my skin. The notes are described as Italian Citron, Sicilian Almond, and Orange Blossom (obviously it has more notes, but these are the main ones). I thought I would be transported to sunny italy, but all I got was run down smokey french cafe.
This is why it's important to test perfume before buying, I'm glad mine was a small take home tester.
Good luck finding your right perfume! Happy Shopping!

I put this on and it made me SMILE, and then I smiled for the next two hours every time I sniffed my wrist, so I went back and bought it with my macys gift card - this is the perfect summer scent for me! It paints this absolutely delightful scene for me: It is a hot summer day in one of the old stone Italian towns, and I am just stepping onto a flight of stairs between the houses on a hill. There is sunlight behind and sunlight before me, but the broad stair I am climbing is shaded over with live ivy and mock orange trees, releasing their distinctive, refreshing scents under the heat of the sun above. At the top of the stairs, in the sun, is a honeysuckle bush, sending hints of its sweet sparkling nectar down into my cool, green tunnel. SO NICE.
It gets 4 lippies instead of 5 because it lasts about 3 hours, 4 if you sniff with your nose to your wrist. But man, those first two hours are more than worth it.

I love this scent! I used to work at Macy's and one day during the morning rally I picked this up, bored, and decided to try it since I had never heard of it before. It was lovely! Even better, it was lovely all day! It is a rather unusual light scent that I can best describe as woodsy citrus--and the notes hit the senses in that order. That must be due to the cypress along with the Bergamot and Citron. I have to say that on the box is printed the fragrance notes. I love that! Some perfumes (ahem, Chanel!) never tell you what it is you are smelling. It is a perfect fragrance that stays light because of the citrus notes and adding a little spiciness. It does remind me of Italy vividly! I will definitely be wearing this all spring and summer!

I recently stopped by the Dior counter to try Escale a Pondichery. I sprayed that on one arm and, just for good measure, this on the other because I had never given it a proper test run. After a few minutes, Pondichery went yucky on my skin and Portofino blossomed into a beautiful and sophisticated clean citrus. I went back and bought a bottle an hour later. I've had a hard time finding a citrus scent that I love (even though I love citrus on its own) and this fits the bill perfectly. This will be spectacular for summer!

This perfume leaves me with mixed feelings. The initial spritz is to die for - a bubbly blend of citrus that is uplifting and energizing. The almond note behind the citrus is a lovely balancing note. The bottle is also gorgeous, but that is beside the point.
The drydown is a little different that I would expect - on my skin I get a very, very strong cedar note. The lasting power of the cedar note is quite spectacular, too - which is what has me on the fence. I was expecting more citrus, and less cedar.
I think this would also be a lovely scent for a man, or for someone who truly enjoys a woodsy drydown.

I love this wonderful citrus cologne. The top is bright and sparkling, but the wonderful almond note is an interesting counterpoint that gives it a touch of creamy, nutty depth. The woody notes in the drydown have a slightly spicy skin scent that lingers for hours on my skin - almost a touch of cool pepper that I love! This will surely be a favorite for summer!

Yes!! I thought it was just me but another reviewer had noticed the similarities of this perfume to the baby cologne Nenuco. While I adore Nenuco, Escale a Portofino dries down like B.O. on me. (The same with Miss Cherie Dior Orig/ L'Eau) Maybe I'm just not a Dior girl. I'd, perhaps, prefer AG Eau de Hadrien with its sharper top notes and pleasantly fresh drydown on my skin.
