Tropical Light is one of the more unique quints in Dior's lineup. The neutrals start to get very redundant once you own a few quints (but that's not to take away from how gorgeous they all are). The green is very wearable even if you don't usually do colours. The brown can be a real workhorse shade. The light grey is quite unique, but I think the frostiness of it distracts a bit from the overall effect. The pink is not chalky at all, and the white... well, I don't do much with whites. Overall, the quality is totally there, and the combination of colours is a little unexpected and unique for Dior. Worth having for a quint lover.

Oh my goodies, a palette from Dior that I don't regret buying, and can somehow incorporate all 5 (if I must!) into one look.
I ran into SDM, looking quickly for a palette. It seems that my purchases upon quick to no judgement or preplanning, are good purchases!?
I was hesitant upon the medium-toned green on the bottom left, as I usually don't like colors like this but I can mix it in with the top and middle brown/taupes for a subtle sheen of green.
The mint green is an absolutely lovely inner corner, which is a "must" for me, at all times. The pink sometimes replaces that for a softer look, but I definitely love 4 out of 5 colors for this palette!

I have been a big fan of the Dior quints for years, nothing even comes close to equaling them in my opinion. I have no idea why it took me so long to get Tropical Light, I guess in pictures it always looked a bit bland but now that I have it, oh my goodness!!!!!! This quint is truly amazing. The colours are beautiful, soft and wearable. The greens are muted but incredibly pretty and wearable and you can also use this quint for just a neutral look with the three other colours. All of the shades have shimmer but it isn't over the top glitter so is suitable for day wear. I can see myself getting a lot of mileage out of this particular quint. Yes, it is expensive but you are getting 5 shadows and the quality is outstanding, at the end of the day when my face is a greasy mess and my foundation has worn off these shadows are still in place looking fantastic.

I love dior quints, they are the best out there and totally worth their hefty price tag. This is an iridescent palette, which means the colours are not heavily pigmented but give a glow to the eye. They are NOT frosty but give a sublte effect. I love that can put these on and don't look like I wear heavy or dramatic eye make up. You can add the darker colours to give your eyes some depth. This combination of greens and browns is very versatile. You can get a cool look or add more warmth with the dark brown colour. Lovely!

Another stunning Dior eyeshadow palette-all very wearable colors that combine beautifully together. Great for hazel eyes. Silky, creamy textured shadows that you can wear in many combinations. I did not find this overly shimmery/frosty (I'm 40). looks great paired with soft peach or pink cheeks and lips. Wonderful for spring, summer and beyond. Yes it's pricey, but you will find that you get a beautiful product for your money.

I adore this palette. The shades are so pretty, and I feel like you can do a variety of looks. I especially love the middle taupe shade, it's a great all-over lid color. The shadows are so soft and velvety and they wear better than any other brand I have tried. I have no criticism of this palette, it's wonderful.

I was reading the comments here as I awaited this product in the mail and I was really worried I'd be disappointed. CD's Tropical Light arrived today. I have no regrets. I swatched all the colors on my hand. They are absolutely gorgeous. They catch light beautifully and are somewhat lighter than in the pan. Of course this product is shimmery... "IRIDESCENT" is in the product name. I bought it for the shimmer and it is by far the best shimmery e/s I've had yet. I'm wearing the moss green with the bronze on the outer corner without any base or primer. It's lasted hours with no fade or creasing - I applied it with a small all-over eyeshadow brush. And I also have to say, these colors bring out the gold flecks in my brown eyes which is really cool.
EDIT: just after five hours, it has some creases. That's a good run though. I'll wear it with a base of primer moving forward.

I think these shadows are beautiful. They are quite irridescent, but i like them! I have green eyes, and this quint is perfect my eye color and skin tone. The price is outrageous for eyeshadow, but worth the splurge. I would buy it again, but if it doesn't last long, I may not!
Update: these shadows are really too irridescent. I like them at first, then realized my eyes were way too shiny!!

This is irridescent shiny. A makeup artist Dior applied it today. It was muddy, too shiny, too off colour. I find I am always underwhelmed by Dior Shadow, all except for a pink duo I bought a long time ago. I came home and fixed it with chanel. Blah

I love dior quints. They're kinda my new favorite palettes now that I'm more into high-end mu. Tropical Light is the latest addition to my little brood. The pale green is just such a nice shade for my pale self. I have green eyes and it really makes them pop. I like this quint for a look that is soft enough for work but involves color. The shimmer is not OTT at all. It's very classy, sweet, and soft. Would definitely repurchase.

this product is described beautifully, but i wil give a brief descripition none the less. two buttery soft greens that veer towards cool toned, ( the darker green is mid toned with a golden sheen, the lighter one is almost white with a greenish opalescence ) a soft palest pink/peach, a sheer lavander taupe that is very pale, and a brown taupe. each shadow is iridescent and shimmery and buildable.
i did not want this quint. just didnt think i could use it, but while in sephora i tried it on. it looked lovely. lovely enough to buy.
i am very fair and cooler tones, light colors work on me.
the quailty is excellent: buttery, buildable, and i find them long lasting, even without e/s base. i am not sure how this would work on other skin tones. i think it would work on very light skin and very dark skin...not sure about the skin tones between them, tho... if you are a green and blue e/s fan as i am, this is a great quint.
FYI- am: nw15, blond, blue

Waste of money! I usually save up Shoppers points to splurge on Dior products because they're great quality (ex. Forever Compact). This is an exception. I don't see any difference between this and inexpensive drugstore brands. The shades don't apply like they look in the pan, it creases a bit, and doesn't last all day. I've been spoiled by Bobbi Brown's pot eyeshadow which is iron-clad and worth the money. I'll be returning it with disappointment. UPDATE: I'm knocking this down to a one! I looked in the mirror today and saw large, noticeable stripes on my eyelids. No excuses- my other eyeshadows don't do this and it's very embarrassing.

Pros
-Sleek packaging (reflects the quality of the brand)
-Comes in a classy velvet pouch
-for the most part stayed put on a typical day (going to class mostly) and no discolouration at the end of the day
-feels silky soft
-goes on smooth
-goes on sheer, but buildable
-Variety of colours
-Versatile: can create day or night looks (natural or party looks)
Cons
-expensive (at $58 CAN plus tax)
-lighter colours are too shimmery for my taste (they all go on as similar shades)
-SLIGHT fading by the end of the day, but I DID NOT use a base or any other "additives"
Other Stuff and Points that Put Me on the Fence:
-Better NOT to use with fingers as most of the shadow colour will stick to your fingers (in other words, using the provided sponge brush, colour goes on stronger with a brush)
-The sponge brushes aren't particularly great, not awful either
-Haven't tried using bristle brush, so can't say anything about that
-I get finger prints on the case since it's a gloss finish and dark colour
-Might get a different set of colours (since I'm travelling now, I might be able to get them at a duty-free shop in the airport)
Concluding points:
-My suggestion is to get this only if 1) you particularly like the colours of a certain palette and MUST have it, or 2) you're on a spending frenzy, or 3)you find it cheap (e.g. my friend bought 2 at 15 EUR each at a duty-free shop in a Finland airport), or 4) it's a gift
-Other than that, I wouldn't get it....the price is just too much and you could probably find something just as good but cheaper
UPDATE:
swapped this off because it wasn't all that special.
-Light pink is a good highlighter, though.
-I don't normally wear greens, so that's a waste
-brown and centre colours were useable, but I got bored of them

I have been on a Dior frenzy lately, so this was the new addition to my collection. I love this quint a lot. The previous reviewers have described the colors very well, so I will just add that ieven though these colors are iridescent, they are very wearable. I am normally wary of greens because I find they make me look sallow, but the mossy color really pops my dark brown eyes. Overall, just very versatile, and I would recommend.

Oh baby! You will never find a more beautiful pairing of greens. Sooooo pretty. The dark shimmer brown, silvered taupe and shimmery cream are great too but it's all about those greens. Of course it's ridiculously expensive but I worked a Dior gala at the Canadian Department store I work for and I got this for free as a 'Thank you" Well let me just say, Thank you Dior!! The formula is like silk shimmer, it blends, its pigmented and I find it quite lasting. But the greens, the glorious greens! I didn't know I wanted them - but I can never again live with out them. The picture on the Sephora website does not do this exceptional palette justice. I'd love to describe the greens for you, but saying moss or seafoam or lime - none of it comes close. It's just fabulous. If you are looking for a hot new shimmery kinda sexy green, this is a great buy and is very Tropical and Light.

I was lemming the new irridescent palettes for a long time then when i saw them at counters I thought they were beautiful.
Tropical Light looked like a palette I could wear daily and they were colours I didn't have either. The others were either too brown (got tons of that) or were pinks (which just don't work for me).
I have tried and tried with this palette and I have to say it just doesn't work for me. The colours are too shimmery, the palette cost a whopping £34 and for that this is nothing special whatsoever. When I tried to do a "look" with all the colours I looked truly terrible with shimmery eyeshadow everywhere, now my blending skills are far from great but even a wash of light colour looked boring by itself. I really did expect more from this (perhaps too much). The colours just drain my complexion totally and mauves and greens aren't exactly bad colours to wear, but from this palette they are a no no.
I am giving it a 3 because it's good quality product and you get plenty. But I am putting it up for swap because it makes me feel like crap when I put this stuff on.

Tropical Light is one of the new Dior Iridescent Quints.
Colours:
Medium brown,
Moss green,
Vanilla,
Peach,
Light Taupe( center square)-a hard colour to describe
All of the colours have an underlying gold iridescence which I think makes this palette special.
I like to apply the base colour with a wet brush or sponge. This increases the durability of the shadow. I also gives the moss green and peach colours real pop. On me, I don't find the colours are chalky or to sheer. The vanilla colour is a great under the brow and inner eye highlighter. These colours seem to make my hazel eyes appear gold. It's a really neat effect. These colours are a definite summer staple. They are shiny and light and would look perfect with tanned skin and light coloured gloss. I am looking forward to using the palette alot.
