UNREFINED COLD- PRESSED COCONUT OIL IS GREAT FOR EZCEMA!!!!
My daughter suffers from ezcema, lip lickers dermatitis, and sensitive skin. Coconut oil is not only moisturizing but antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral! My daughter has gotten staph infections from scratching her ezcema areas. So coconut oil prevents her skin from drying out. And if for some reason she does break out, coconut oil saves the day. It fight any bacteria she may have introduced into her skin from scratching and moisturizes her skin. I also use it for our hair. My younger daughter's hair has really thickened up since using it on her hair and scalp. As if coconut oil wasn't amazing enough, if you eat a teaspoon or so a day it staves off viruses and is supposed to help with weight loss. But it has to be the one the is unrefined and cold- pressed!!! That is the one that is "anti" everything. I hope this review helps:)

Ive been using this coconut oil on my hair since my mother used to use it way back when I was a kid. We would often get a good head massage with this stuff & she would leave it in for a few hours to moisturise & then give it all a good wash.
By far the best scalp cleanser & moisturiser.
This stuff is so cheap it should be free! honestly. But it gives such amazing results - far better than alot of very expensive products.
My tub goes a long way & I only have to purchase this every other year.
When cold, the oil will go white in colour & will not be runny/oil. Run a very hot sink & put the container (unopened) into the water for a few minutes. If the oil is real coconut oil, you will slowly see it emulsify into a thin clear-ish oil - now its ready for use!
Highly recommended.

It doesn't get any better or cheaper than this. My hairdresser recommended coconut oil since I get ombre color done regularly. My hair has been in good shape lately, or so I thought. Just a 30 minute leave-in treatment was enough to take away dandruff and leave my hair completely moisturized without being weighed down. I now use it once a week. My flakes are gone, the ends are softer and well-behaved, and my color seems brighter. I use refined organic coconut oil (the refining eliminates the scent for the most part. Didn't know that, I just was going for the cheapest jar!) Here's what I do:
1. Make sure hair is dry!
2. Saturate scalp through to the ends. Add extra to where to might need it. If you have dandruff (which I do if I drink.. think it's the dehydration), add extra to your scalp.
3. Leave on for as long as you like, and use any method for it to sink in. 20 minutes with a shower cap, overnight in a bun, one hour under a dryer, whatever. It all works. No, it will not be greasy because...
3. When you shampoo it out, do NOT wet hair before you put on the shampoo. Concentrate on the hairline, and you're good to go. I shampoo 3 times with a sulfate-free shampoo, and I don't have to wash again for 2-3 days (the usual for me.)
4. Bask in the complements!

What can I say... this is amazing!!!
I have Keratosis Pilaris also known as chicken skin on my legs and my skin is all bumpy and rough. I did some research and read that KP can be partially caused due to dry skin and some articles/videos recommended using extra virgin coconut oil. At first I was a little reluctant because I felt that it would be too greasy and my skin wouldn't absorb it properly especially because I had bad experience with Palmer's Cocoa Butter just sitting on my skin and not doing anything but finally I decided I could give it a try and it's been about 4 days since using it and my skin has never felt so good and my chicken skin has not disappeared but it has gotten a lot better. My skin feels softer and looks healthier. I haven't used it on my face but I have also used it on my hair. I massaged it into my hair and scalp and left it in for 45min before shampooing and conditioning my hair. It left my hair shiny and soft.
Extra Virgin Cononut Oil is a wonderful versatile product and here are other ways of using it
1) as a body moisturiser
2) to soothe dry hands
3) as a shaving cream substitute
4) as a deep hair conditioner
5) to remove eye-make up
6) to clean and hydrate your face
Because coconut oil is naturally antibacterial, anti fungal, moisturizing and, according to research, great for atopic dermatitis, many women swear by its use as a nighttime moisturizer for their face, too. Try the double-cleansing method: Simply rub the oil in circular motions all over your face and neck, giving yourself a gentle massage as you go. When you’re done, wash off the residue with your favorite cleanser. (If you’re adult-acne prone, avoid this technique unless you know your skin tolerates coconut oil.)
Why use coconut oil? Because it's inexpensive and all natural!

I've been using pure coconut oil on my hair for about 3 weeks now, and the results have been AMAZING! Just fyi, I have medium length brown hair that I had balayaged last year, so the ends were extremely dry and frazzled. I used a blow dryer straightening iron on my hair everyday until I decided enough was enough. I'd read some reviews online about coconut oil as a hair treatment but honestly didn't believe the hype... Until I decided to buy a jar and try it out for myself.
The results were amazing! The way I used it was applying a liberal amount (enough to saturate the hair without it dripping, including roots) to dry hair and letting it soak in for 3 hours. I then washed it, twice with shampoo & once with conditioner (Tigi Resurrection which I think add to the success of making my hair healthy again), as well as a 5 minute leave in coconut treatment by Palmers (Coconut Oil Formula Conditioner). This might sound like a lot, but doing this once a week has literally transformed my hair, and I think the coconut oil is definitely whats helping it.
I've now changed my routine which believe is helping it more. I now apply liberally, the same as before, to damp hair and sleep on it, so that it's on the hair for 10-12 hours, then wash using the same steps as above. This is more of a deep clean as it is on the hair for longer, so only needs to be done every 1-2 weeks. The results speak for themselves though!
I now also regularly dip 3 or 4 fingers into the jar to get enough to coat the ends of my hair (without it being greasy) if my hair is going to be in a bun for the day.
Before genuinely caring about my hair, I never got regular trims and used ordinary, cheap supermarket shampoos. While these work for people with normal, healthy hair, I think that if you want to see lasting success with Coconut Oil, it is important to invest in a good shampoo - not necessarily expensive, but not cheap.
If you haven't tried coconut oil and you're stuck thinking nothing is ever going to make your hair look and feel healthy again, I seriously recommend you try Coconut Oil. It takes a little bit of trial and error to discover what works for you, but you'll be seriously thankful once you've used it!

Here's what I did: I bought the extra virgin, organic stuff from Trader Joes, took half out of the jar and put it in a clean, empty, wide mouth jar in the bathroom for beauty uses, and kept the other half in the kitchen for cooking (great for Indian recipes, on toast, and supposedly helps to prevent Alzheimer's! Why not!? Tastes amazing.)
I use it as a carrier oil for hair treatments, along with jojoba and almond (I think the almond is way more moisturizing but love jojoba for face). I would love to comment more about it but I've only done it once. I also put it directly into hair and while it's greasy at first, the next day it doesn't feel so much. Though I think pre-poo is prob best. I'm a little scared to use it on my skin because I clog easily, but it's good for hair.

Oh coconut oil how I love you so.
A while back when I was about 16 or 17 years old I got a really bad haircut and I mean BAD. I also was stupid and constantly straightened my hair and blowdried it and used harsh products on it all the time. My hair was dead, lifeless, dull and would NOT grow. I swear in 3 years my hair probably grew 1.5 inches. It was REALLY REALLY bad and I didn't know what to do. I tried taking biotin, multivitamins, olive oil, expensive repair masks and they only did so much to my hair. I was looking up what would be really helpful and I saw coconut oil. I went to the supermarket and saw a giant jar of it for $5 which is amazing since most expensive hair masks are $20+.
I use coconut oil in so many ways, once a week I take the coconut oil, rub it between my hands and work it through my hair from the scalp to the ends and paying more attention to the ends because that's where most of the damage in your hair is. I leave it in for an hour or two and wash it out and then use normal shampoo and conditioner after. The first time I had tried it my hair was soo strong and bouncy feeling. I was hooked!!
Another way I use coconut oil is combined with olive oil, honey and an egg yolk as a protein mask and it has made my hair stronger than EVER before. My hair in this past year has grown probably around 6-7 inches compared to the 1.5 it was before. I am so in love with this product and how cheap and easy to use it is.
It has soo many benefits to the hair and really penetrates and moisturizes and helps repair. I would recommend this to anyone who is having trouble with their hair being dead and damaged, it really is holy grail status and I will use this forever.

BEST HAIR PRODUCT HANDS DOWN! I began using the oil after reading from a scientific journal that proved coconut oil penetrated the hair shaft and moisturized, rather than just coat the outer layer which is what conditioners and other oils do. (Also, I believe the journal stated that the oil yields best results when used as a prewash) Anyway, this oil surprised me because it gave my hair the most incredible, healthiest, shine that I wouldn't have expected from just one product.
I like to do the oil hair treatment atleast once a week, sometimes twice a week if I have time. Go buy it, try it out for a couple of weeks, and after a few times of usage you will definitely see results.

Wow I can't believe Cocnut oil works!!
I heard a lot about it and how some celebrities use it to nourish their hair, but I was so dubious about it.
It's cheap, it's natural, easy to store and use.
Most importantly, coconut oil is the best hair product I've ever used!
I still can't believe it works!!!
It makes my hair so, so smooth, my hair has never been smoother than before.
I'll definitely be using this until I die!! It's AMAZING!!

I come from India, a country wherein coconut oil is perhaps the most widely used and loved hair treatment of all times. It is relatively inexpensive, easily available and absolutely natural! It is a natural source of lauric acid, capric acid, caprylic acid, vitamin E, vitamin K and protein and it has antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and soothing properties.
The benefits of coconut oil are ample, both internal and external, however this review is for coconut oil as a hair treatment :). I have tried coconut oils of various types - the standard blue bottle of pure coconut oil that we get almost everywhere in India, the "enriched" versions and even the super expensive coconut hair oil from the body shop. They all work wonders, however nothing can beat the no frills pure coconut oil.
I usually prefer to use coconut oil as an overnight deep conditioning treatment. What I do is, I take a good amount of coconut oil, warm it up and apply it all over my hair including the scalp. A lot of people insist that you need not use any oils on your scalp, but hey, even your scalp needs nourishment and nutrition, right? I also focus on the ends of my hair since they tend to get dry and split easily. Then I braid my hair and go to bed and wash it off the next day (you might have to shampoo your hair twice to make sure that your hair is completely clean)
I have been doing this on and off since months and I can definitely tell that my hair looks a lot smoother, bouncier and most importantly HEALTHIER because of coconut oil. The ends of my hair look tamed and there is no dryness whatsoever. If used regularly, it can help your hair to recover from the damage that is caused by chemicals and heat styling due to the natural protein content. It can also be used as a leave-in conditioner but I personally do not prefer it that way since my hair tends to look greasy, but as an overnight treatment I absolutely love it and recommend it :)

Good for hair! Read what other folks are saying about it, I don't see the need to repeat what they're saying. Shiny, silky, soft hair, blah blah blah. I like leaving it in overnight but leaving it in for just an hour or two will help too.
I will say this though: coconut oil is NOT GOOD FOR THE FACE. If you put it in your hair, avoid getting it near your hairline. You WILL break out. Break out, not "purge". You do not "purge" with coconut oil. It is extremely comedogenic. Matter of fact, take any review that says a product will make your skin "purge" with a HUGE grain of salt. It is more than likely just bad for your skin. I tried to use coconut oil as a face moisturizer and I had the worst acne I've had in years. Don't try it.

Do not doubt when you see extra virgin coconut oil in a store! It's the best hair care product, best facial moisturizer and best body moisturizer. It's a lifesaver for naturally dry and/or damaged hair.
Hair care: Rub a pea sized amount of the solid oil between your fingers until it's warm and put it on your hair ends an hour or a night before you wash your hair. For an intensive treatment heat a table spoon of coconut oil au bain Marie and rub it in your wet, not yet shampooed hair, wait thirty minutes and shampoo twice.
Moisturizer: Rub a little amount of the oil between your fingers until warm and apply it on your face and all other dry spots. Tip: when you see/feel an upcoming pimple dab a little coconut oil on it before you go to sleep.
My dry, damaged hair and skin love extra virgin coconut oil!

I swim regularly (five days a week) and the chlorine has really taken a toll on my hair. It was starting to feel dry and brittle, very unusual for my generally healthy locks. I used coconut oil as a winter moisturizer, and had some left over that I was unlikely to cook with (been sitting in my makeup bag with my fingers in it -nothanks). Anyway, I rubbed LOTS of it through my hair and scalp, especially on the ends. I let it sit for an hour or so, and then shampooed twice with head and shoulders classic. I woke up this morning with soft, healthy hair. Would consider repeating once a week or as needed.

I use Nutiva brand that is organic. I use it on my hair only when it is completely dry. For me it works the best this way. I have very thick, coarse, wavy hair that is very dry and coconut oil is the only oil that has worked on my hair to make it feel softer. I rub it between my hands to melt it and distribute it all over. I just leave it in. A wonderful bonus is the smell...num num :)

I really have to thank my mom for my long, thick hair. Since I was a baby, she has been mixing castor and coconut oils and massaging them into my hair twice a week. This combination really nourishes the scalp and the hair (of course you have to leave it on for at least an hour if not overnight and then shampoo twice to get it all out). I used to have waist-length, thick, lush, jet black wavy hair. Now that I am a mother of two, I simply don't have time or energy for oil massages and that has taken a severe toll on my hair. I'm going to start the castor+coconut oil regime again to get my lush mane back. Its a natural hair spa, the massage stimulates blood circulation in the scalp and as a bonus, the oil on ur fingers hydrates ur cuticles as well. I recommend this to everyone because I have seen what miracles it works. I do it for both my sons too and they have amazing hair!

For the record I use Trader Joe's Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
I put it in my hair before sleeping, then shampoo in the morning, leave it in my hair when damp. Works well! I haven't used a conditioner since or any silicon styling products. It takes trial and error to know how much you need.
I also use it on my face with a combination of jojoba and Vitamin E oil for dry patches and sun damage along with oil cleansing. At first, I thought my pores got clogged, but actually in fact it was all the gunk from my skin coming to the surface. Now I have clear skin, and the redness from my face is slowly fading. I also use it beneath my bb cream when I need a little extra moisture around the extremely dry areas around my mouth.
The container is a jar, so I suggest you transfer some over in a small travel-sized bottle if you want to make things easier for you. :)

Coconut oil is the only oil known to be able to penetrate the cortex of the hair. Therefore, one of the most effective hair moisturizers on earth.
Hair needs to be uncoated (most conditioners/products will coat).
Ideally, should go on hair after use of a clarifying shampoo or baking soda wash and vinegar rinse. Can also be added to shampoo in the coconut oil shampoo method.
When used on uncoated hair, the coconut oil penetrates the hair - and the results you wouldn't believe. Almost born again hair!! When used on coated hair, can result in a crunchy feeling. Well worth experimenting with.

Coconut oil has proven to be AMAZING for my hair! even though I have somewhat thin hair with oily roots, it seems like over the past year or so, my ends have gotten dry. I suppose this is because I wash and blow dry my hair every day now. since I exercise daily, I don't like to have a dirty, sweaty head of hair on my pillow at night. well, anyway, I was in need of something to moisturize my ends since my Suave Humectant conditioner just wasn't cutting it. so I decided to apply coconut oil to my hair. the first time I used it, it was a huge fail and made my hair completely greasy. then I realized I was using it wrong, as well as using way too much. I've realized the best way for me to use coconut oil as a hair treatment is to rub a bit into my hair, avoiding the roots, tie up my hair with a jaw clip, wait 30-60 minutes, and then shampoo, condition, and style as usual. my hair is left incredibly soft and beautiful! I've found that coconut oil works much better for me than olive oil; because it's a solid at room temperature, it's much easier to control how much I use so that I don't end up with greasy ends.
the coconut oil I use is the same one I cook with, but I keep some in a little jar in my room with my hair products. I purchased a 16 fl. oz. jar from my local Indian grocery for about $4, so not only is it super cheap considering how long it lasts, but it's not just good for the hair!

So this all natural product is meant for people with thick, coarse, and, typically, dry hair. If your hair is normal-oily, fine, or thin, you most likely will find coconut oil too heavy/unhelpful for your hair. Coconut oil is very thick and heavy. Even on my coarse and relatively thick hair I find that it ways my hair down sometimes after applying a drop too much. Also, the fact that, at room temp, this product is mostly solid makes it difficult to use and often results in a lot of hassle and a big mess. Despite all of those flaws, I would have to say that coconut oil is a great product FOR MY HAIR TYPE. It makes my hair so incredibly soft and manageable. My hair feels silky and healthy after applying this product.
I use coconut oil in 2 ways.
1) As a leave in: After my hair has been shampooed and conditioned and is now damp, I apply a moisturizing leave-in conditioner and then apply a dime sized amount of coconut oil to my entire head (including my scalp). Or, if I'm wearing my hair straight, then after I have completely straightened my hair I apply less than a dime-sized amount (when my hair is straight it's more likely to look weighed down) to my ends.
2) As a deep conditioning oil treatment: 1-2 days after I have shampooed my hair ( I shampoo it every 3-4 days) I will spray water all over my hair to get it damp. Then, I will apply the coconut oil all over my head (and I mean get a LOT of this stuff, like, a handful almost). Once my hair is completely saturated in the oil I wrap my head in plastic wrap to lock in the natural heat that radiates from my head and leave it on for about 45 min-1 hour. Then I rinse it off and follow with a leave in product of choice.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to black people because we tend to have extremely coarse and thick (and dry) hair. I would also recommend it to people with curly or frizzy hair to smooth it down and add nutrients to your hair.
CAUTION: People with straight, thin, and fine hair: beware. It might make you look like a grease monster.
DOUBLE CAUTION: do NOT wear a lot of this product outside in the winter as the "oil" will solidify and turn hard as a rock...and so will your hair.
