As other reviewers have noted, although this is clearly marked as 'moisturizing' on the label, it is the harshest cleanser i have ever run across.

Running out of my beloved Ponds Cold Cream in mid shower, i thought i would try this out. St. Ives usually makes decent products, and this had been sitting in my stash for a while waiting to be trialed.

I have the usual comb skin (oily T zone, dry cheeks), and as soon as i dried off, I knew it was a mistake. My face was painfully tight, and my cheeks felt like they were burning. By the time the night came, my cheeks, chin and nose were peeling in obvious chunks. It took a couple nights of vitamin e oil applications to return my poor skin to normal.

This cleanser is so strong you could strip paint with it. You would need to have extremely thick oily skin to get any benefit out of it. And for a product that promotes itself as moisturizing, that's just unacceptable.

When I bought this it was on sale and I trust my facial cleanser to this brand. It clearly said moisturizing but for some reason it dried out my combination skin. (Mostly my forehead) I would not buy this again because of this however I would recommend it for someone with oily skin because it cleaned very well.

I don't like cleansers that remove all trace of moisture from my skin. Imagine using a hospital grade alcoholic disinfectant wipe all over your skin. The drying effect you get from doing about 2 wipes of that is the same as with this St Ives cleanser.
Its cleansing ability is astounding, it removed even my eye makeup quite powerfully. I was rather amazed because it does not specialise in makeup removal. No wonder it stripped my skin of ALL of its moisture, and boy, I mean ALL of it. If I didn't tone my skin in about 1min and 30 seconds, my skin would start to crinkle up in a very uncomfortable way.

Now I use it as a cleanser for my makeup brushes. It is so so so effective and quick. A powerful cleanser for my brushes, but too much for my skin.

I have dry skin that can be sensitive at times. This cleanser left my skin feelings stripped of any and all moisture that I had. My face was so tight that it crinkled when opened my mouth. There is definitely too much lather in this cleanser to be considered moisturizing. I did get it for $2 at Big Lots so I wont bash it too much. What can I expect for a $2 cleanser. The smell also gave me an instant headache. It stinks of old sweet smelling dish rag. It also lingered after awhile. I massaged my moisturizer on and that helped tone the scent down considerably but its still there. Dry skin people steer clear of this!

This is my favourite cleanser! I've rebought this product a couple of times, I like it that much. I have very sensitive skin, especially with facial cleansers, and most make my skin red and blotchy. This one, however, does not do that.

It cleans my face with drying, removes make up, and since it doesn't have any medicated active ingredients, it's safe to use on my eyes to remove my waterproof mascara (keep your eyes closed, obviously).

I also really like this product for washing my makeup brushes.

This felt like washing my face with hair gel. After the first and only use I am left with a
face covered in red papules. I realize now that the only St. Ives products I can use are
the body lotions and the apricot blemish scrub (on my feet!) The tea tree cleanser - papules. Green tea scrub - cysts. The cleansing cloths - rash like papules and clogged pores. I lean toward natural products because I'm developing weird reactions to the chemicals in beauty items, and these St. Ives cleansers are on my no-list now.

My poor face feels tight and burnt, my eyelids are red and I dread leaving the house now. Argh!

If you have bullet proof skin, this could be ok, for folks like me, run the other way and don't look back.

Natural? Doubtful. But then again, poison ivy is natural.

I'm not saying I would definitely purchase again, but it is a pretty good cleanser. My skin feels pretty normal after I wash with it, which is good for my combo skin. Sometimes I mix a little in my hands with a small amount of baking soda for some exfoliating action. It does a pretty good job of removing light make-up as well.

This really moisturised my skin while cutting through excess oil and dirt. I really enjoyed using it. I can't seem to find it anymore in my local Woolworths. But I will definitely buy it again.

It was a bit more than mild so it was very effective.

This stuff looks, feels and smells like dishwashing liquid. I've reserved this to cleaning my makeup brushes as it's just too gross to put on my face. Doesn't leave you feeling that clean either. I have used their scrubs for years so thought I'd give this a try. Never again.

Removes oil without stripping the skin. I suppose it does moisturize because I don't notice any squeakiness of my skin when I rinse the cleanser off, even after the second time of cleansing. The skin does have a nice, refreshed feeling though.
The smell is okay, I don't particularly enjoy it. Smells clean, but not fresh clean, kind of hard to describe.
I would probably use this as a cleanser in winter, since it is currently summer and I do like a slightly squeaky clean feeling on my skin so I know for sure all the sweat, oil, and other gunk that summer brings is off my skin.
I have combination skin that turns oily during the summer months. I wouldn't consider myself to have extremely oily skin though.

One thing I absolutely hate about this cleanser is the packaging. I find the spout of the pump way too short. The cleanser would dispense into the very tips of my fingers, with more often than not, some of the cleanser dripping off. Maybe it's just me, but I like dispensing cleanser into the palm of my hand and I find it very hard to do with this pump, especially with my glasses off and my face damp.

Overall, this is a good cleanser and I would recommend it to people of all skin types, depending on the season . I think it would work well for people with oily skin during the winter months and people with drier skin during the humid, summer months.

I like this cleanser because it has a good price, great packaging and it is a nice natural cleanser that gets the job done with a scent of olives. I like the smell because when I apply it in the shower it smells like I'm in an olive garden and it lathers dreamlike, as the shiny bubbles pop with the contact of my fingertips...
Ohh...back to the review...yeah it's pretty nice and I'd say it's great for all skin types if you're just looking to naturally get rid of the greasy, grubby feeling on your skin!

I don't even know how well this stuff works in the long run since I couldn't get past the awful smell to use it on a consistent basis. It seemed to cleanse nice, although it couldn't take off all of my eye makeup. It seemed to leave a lot of moisture behind so I would recommend this for drier skin types or winter use. I've recently given up products that contain SLS as I've discovered they're the root of all evil, so I will not be repurchasing this.

I like this product and would buy it again if it went on sale. I'm 40 yrs old with oily skin and fine lines around my eyes and prone to the occasional breakout, so I can't use anything that strips moisture but would effectively clean the oil and makeup from my face. The olive oil in this product intrigued me but it also suds up nicely and removes all of my makeup including (non-waterproof) mascara, eyeliner, and lipgloss. It doesn't leave a residue nor leave my face feeling tight afterwards.

Tried this product as an alternative to St. Ives' Invigorating Apricot Scrub, which I thought might've been too harsh for my sensitive skin. This olive cleanser has the opposite effect--I used it over the summer and made my skin greasier and thereby I broke out more...I have combination skin, especially in hot weather. And although after washing with the olive cleanser my skin felt clean, it would grease up throughout the course of the day. I ended up tossing it with more than half of the bottle left over. It does, however, work well as a makeup remover--must be all the oil.

Got this 2 weeks ago for $3. I have dry skin and struggle in the winter to find something that won't leave me feeling tight. This product leaves me feeling clean and makeup free. It doesn't irritate and I am only slightly tight in my forehead area. I have seen no irritation or redness. The smell is different than your typical Estee Lauder type flowery cleanser or your Bath and Body works type fruity stuff. But it isn't strong and doesn't bother me. It seems kind of organic. I like the packaging and the pump as well. I will definitely buy again for the price.

I find this to be a great cleanser in winter when I feel like I'm getting a bit too dry, even though usually I am very very oily. I love how it doesn't clog pores, makes me feel very clean and keeps my acne at bay. But I can only use this in the driest times in Winter because otherwise I find it leaves too much oil behind, and I am not really up for a moisture fix when I'm using a cleanser. Besides that, yeah it got the job done pretty well, didn't break me out and overall I was pretty happy with it. The packaging is cute too.

I give it 5 stars because it is gentle on my skin, removes makeup, no harsh smell (has a hint of olive oil fragrance), a good price/value, and it moisturizes my skin slightly.

I love the apricot scrub from St. Ives but after a while, I have to wash several times to remove all the apricot crystals and exfoliants. I also won't use that scrub during winter time since my skin is more dry and sensitive.

This olive cleaner is a great product and it moisturizes my skin slightly. There hasn't been a cleanser that made me feel this fresh and clean. And, it removes all the dirt, oil, and makeup for the day. Go to product.

olive cleanser is a light face cleanser that hydrate my face while cleaning it. It smoothes my skin,rejuvenate it! Leaves it completly soft and glowing! Love the smell,the texture of the product!i pair it with collagen ellastine face lotion.love it! I needed something more hydratation for the winter.usually,i take abricot cleanser,but for the dry month ,love this one!
