I have : combination skin(oil t-zone), shade NC20.

This foundation has nice coverage, but i wouldnt use it all over your face is it looks like a mask. I find this looks very chalky on my skin, and can make my skin look really dry, so you MUST really moisturing very well before using this product. I would recommoned this to those with oily skin who want good coverage to hide blemishes, spots etc...

if i use this its usually just a teeny bit(a dot goes a long way) on blemishes with my Clarins color tint foundation and MAC pressed powder and my skin looks flawless with a healthy glow!!

This is a fabulous foundation for those with combo/oily skin who need long lasting foundation with great coverage! BEWARE of the colors, though. Last year, EL re-did their colors and added a few more to their selection, but imo, it is still lacking but I guess a "thank you for trying" should go out to EL.

-----------COLOR SELECION HELP for US residents: For Double Wear, W=Warm, N=PEACH, and C=Cool. DO NOT BE FOOLED that neutral = neutral, as it is not and most (not all) will find the neutral shades to be too peach/orange.-----------

Shell (C), Ecru (N), and Bone (W) are the three shades in the lightest category. PPP's NC 15 should try Shell first but just a heads up that for some, including me, it isn't light enough unless I have a bit of color from the sun. IMO, Ecru was just orange on my skin. I know a few like this shade but I cannot see it working for most. Bone is a nice selection for those in between NC20-25ish. It does a great job of neutralizing any redness you may have. It can look a bit too yellow at first, but just be sure to blend and ust lightly. Linen (W) is the next darkest shade that falls between the EL skin intensity shades of 1 and 2. IMO, it is good for NC 25-30.------------

As the shades get deeper, I noticed that some of the W shades can be too yellow and some of the C shades tooooooooo dark pink. I read though many posts and several people have mentioned using Sand (W) when they were NC 25 and Fresco (P) when they were NC 30. I hope this helps condense some of the color info and hope it helps that it is all in one post. This is just a helpful guide. For a true color match, go to the EL counter. Just go in prepared with the knowledge of the above, as the knowledge has been complied from other reviews and also contains some of my experiences. Finally, IME, the EL makeup-artists at different counters all try to match me in darker shades and never really blend the foundation in when doing a color match. If the foundation just sits on your skin, it just ends up sitting there and does not give an accurate color match. Be sure to have them blend and go out in the light to get a correct view!

I got this in Dusk. It covers up my red red red pimples very well and keeps my face from looking greasy for at least six hours.
HOWEVER the color turns darker, my skin gets sooooo itchy and can literally feel my existing pimple get worse within hours upon application.
The color is supposed to be the lightest or the second lightest in cool category but it was a little too dark for me...and i am not pale at all (nc30~nc30 foundation)..

Just a hint for people who may have liked this when their skin was oilier, but now find age has caught up with them and skin is becoming more dry: blend this with Clinique Superfit Makeup, it produces a lovely texture which covers well and hides blemishes and wrinkles!

I have this foundation in Shell. You have no idea how much I wanted to love this. The first time I put it on I was so happy I could have cried. The matte finish was perfect, the full coverage made me look airbrushed, and the color match was incredible. I am so pale that no foundation I have ever tried has been pale enough for me. And I am so oily that no foundation will stay in place on my skin. But at the end of the day, Double Wear was right wear I put it. No transferring, fading, or caking. I was excited beyond words. I mean, I had run out of powder and only used this foundation on my face. I *HAVE* to powder my face to keep my makeup looking decent, but with this I didn't even have to.

Fast forward a week later. My skin was terribly broken out. Double Wear was so thick that my pores couldn't "breathe". They were clogged bad and my face looked terrible. Plus, I noticed that this foundation had begun caking and turning orange by the end of the day. I went out and bought some powder and tried that on top, but it still caked and darkened.

I am really disappointed with this. I have gone back to using Covergirl Smoothers Concealer in Neautralizer. My skin has healed and I don't want to risk trying this foundation again. I will not repurchase. :-(

I've been using this make-up for about a month now and I'm IN LOVE!!! My foundation search has finally ended!! I found the perfect match with Fresco. I've tried Bare Minerals, Mary Kay, Chanel, Clinique - the list goes on. I have a few red marks from acne and my pores are pretty big, and this make-up gives excellent coverage with out being too heavy. Lasts all day, and is easily removed with my DHC cleansing oil. It's kind of pricey, but well worth it!

I've been using this foundation for about 6 or so years now and I love it. I started wearing it in high school and it would last through all of my practices outdoors and football games (drill team). The coverage and lasting power is amazing. The only problem I have is that this appears to be best for normal to oily skin and within the past couple of years my skin has become actually quite dry. But I love this foundation so much so I just put on plenty of moisturizer before applying it and that does the trick. About a year ago I tried some other brands but none compared to this for me. Will definitely keep buying. (I wear Desert Beige)

Also, when I was talking to a co-worker about this makeup and how much I like it, she mentioned trying it...but I told her maybe only for special occasions because her skin is pretty nice as is...she doesn't need much coverage. So it made me realize, don't try to wear this full coverage make up if you don't actually have a lot of problems to cover. I have really red skin across my cheeks and nose from a bad sunburn when I was a kid and so I need a full coverage make up. If you have just small flaws, you may not need something so heavy duty for your entire face.

This is a great foundation! I find this to have great coverage for when my skin is not so perfect. It is heavy - hence the good coverage - and I have to be careful to blend so that it does not look too cakey. I have an oily T-zone and usually still have to blot and blend at some point throughout the day, but I do not think there is any way to avoid that in my case. I think the staying power is good, although I remember Almay's Amazing Lasting (discontinued) as being better. I also think this foundation works great over Smashbox's primer which I occasionally use. It goes on even smoother and really sticks. I like to use this foundation when my skin is yucky looking for whatever reason, but ideally, I would like to have my skin look better and use a lighter foundation. All in all, I am glad that there are foundations like this that are more substantial and have good staying power for less-than-perfect skin!

My friends at work raved about this until I finally had to try it. They actually use the powder version and their skin looks amazing. Since my skin is dry, I took a chance on this. I do like it a lot but I have to mix Linen and Sand to get my actual shade (I'm NC20 MAC). It does last all day but I have to moisturize a LOT before applying. I think the finish is flawless and natural but a bit drying (hence the 4 stars).

I worked for Lauder, so after working with it a lot, I can certainly say that this makeup can be the best or the worst. It is great if you are blotchy or have skin to cover really well (ie. acne- plus it's oil free). But it's only great if you can find a color that works!

You've got to get samples and play with it a bit. It is really heavy and can be cakey or dry looking. It is very important to moisturize well if you have normal-dry or normal-oily skin. And, a foundation brush is a must!!!! I can't stress that enough.

I often use it at as a concealer for areas that are a bit marked up...like a zit that has left a mark and hasn't completely vanished yet. It rocks, cause it stays all day, but I wouldn't use it all over unless I had a photo shoot or some reason to look flawless. I like letting my skin be a bit more natural.

But for really bad skin days (zits and post-picking red marks), I wouldn't leave my house without this stuff. REALLY. My Mom was in disbelief when she saw me before I did my makeup and after (about two weeks ago). She said you couldn't even tell that I had any zits. I recommend the double wear concealer too.

Not recommended for older skin.

12 hours, one workout, & this stuff is still going strong. let's face it,acne has left my skin blotchy, scarred & I hate the way it looks without makeup. Double Wear covers the imperfection & makes my skin look flawless all day. I'll never have gorgeous blemishless dewy skin, but I do have skin that looks smooth, matte & as perfect as I can make it. Double wear is awesome

I have mixed feelings about this foundation:

PROS: The product stays on forever, even on my combination skin. My match is Desert Beige, it gives me full coverage so I don't even need to wear a concealer. I live in a hot climate and it does give me oil-free flawless skin for several hours. It's the foundation I choose to wear occasions when I know I'm going to have my picture taken.

CONS: I can't wear it everyday as it does not look natural on me. The effect is one I would get from pancake rather than a liquid foundation. As DJ112 said, it dries too quickly, is not easy to spread and settles into lines. Like her, I also think I look older (in person, not on pics) when I wear this foundation.

This used to be my HG of liquid foundations as it covers exceptionally well (I have a little red in the cheeks), and it does stay put for most of the day. I am a NW30, but in this product line I am Tawny. The color does match my skin perfectly, no line of demarcation. I do have normal/dry skin and this product does not dry me out or define any dry patches I may have. I usually apply it with a foundation brush (Estee Lauder brand), but started using my MAC 187 brush and it looks so much more flawless. The screw top glass bottle can get messy around the neck, and I am assuming if you drop it, it can break (I have been lucky not to have dropped it). Overall this is a wonderful long lasting foundation even though the price is high ($35), but due to my newest discovery (MAC Studio Fix Fluid), this Estee Lauder foundation is 2nd best as the MAC Studio Fix Fluid last even longer (15 hours so far), and gives an airbrushed looked for about $10 less.I would recommend this foundation if you want to splurge, and perhaps in the future I will repurchase if something happens to my MAC.

Flawless. That's the one word that comes to mind. The consistency is light and feels as if you're wearing nothing at all. The coverage is superb & buildable. It doubles as a concealor. The lasting power took me through over 16 hours of the day, from work that morning, out to the club that night. By the time the evening was over, my face was still... Flawless! This is by far the best foundation I've ever used.

This is the best foundation that I've found. Like someone else said, the color match is very important with this. I was matched with Ecru and it just wasn't a perfect match, so started looking elsewhere again. Came back because nothing comes close to this staying power, and someone else at the counter matched me with dusk, and it's almost perfect.
This does have the most amazing staying power. I've even gone to the gym and this remains unchanged. After using clinique foundation for so many years, this is a dream come true.
A little moisturizer under this really helps this go on smoothly. I use a makeup brush for flawless coverage.
Wish this had a pump.
UPDATE: 3/15/07 someone asked if I'd been tanning since I started using this! I just can't find a matching shade. I am now trying CLARINS compact express foundation and will report back. So far it seems to be the best match I've found. EDIT AGAIN. I was matched up with desert beige (same color I wear in the DW powder foundation), (MAC NC 25-30)and this seems to look much better. I'm upping the lippies again.
Make sure you are matched up correctly with this. It makes such a difference. If you aren't bring it back until you are.
EDIT: Can't find any match in EL. This looks so fake on, and is so heavy! Too many comments from people asking me what was wrong with my face. Found a PERFECT FOUNDATION---Shiseido!

This is a fantastic foundation. I have oily skin and I've had the hardest time finding a foundation that didn't shift all over my face and turn orangey by the end of the day. It comes in a shade that perfectly matches my skin (Shell) and has a beautiful finish. It never shifts or changes color, and I get very little shine breakthrough, if any.

The coverage is good without looking heavy or cakey. It really does stay put and does not rub off on others clothes when you give them hug! I love Double Wear.

I switched to Double Wear after using Estee Lauder Futurist because Futurist seemed to be too oily for my acne prone skin. I was hesitant about trying Double Wear since some previous posters complained about it worsening their acne. However, I am really please with this foundation. I found a pretty good color match with Ivory Beige. I apply in the morning, and it looks great at the end of the day..fresh and shine free. I used to have to reapply Futurist at lunch time because I felt it would fade after a few hours revealing all my scars and inperfections. Double Wear covers all spots and makes my skin look almost flawless and I don't have to worry about it fading. I have alot more confidence when I wear this. I'm suprised that I can remove it easily without alot of scrubbing. Overall, I am pleased and will probably continue to buy, but I wish they would change the packaging..preferably to a pump bottle.

I didn't buy this and don't intend to buy it. Was looking to buy a new foundation to replace my Kanebo Cream Finish so I went foundation shopping yesterday. Went to the EL counter and the MA recommended this since she herself wears this everyday. I should've taken more notice at her make up before we proceeded. It wasn't flawless and clearly didn't sit right on her, so I should've known better! Anyway, she matched me to my shade and I tried it on for a few hours. It was not great, not even good and definitely no match for Kanebo CF. The Double Wear looked really heavy on and felt drying, I felt very conscious of wearing an unsuitable foundation. Anyway, by the time I'd got to the other end of the shopping mall I reached another department store and headed for the Dior counter. The MA there immediately knew my intentions and took this gunk off right away, of course not without putting down the EL foundation first! But anyway, no, this didn't work for me. For reference, I have combination dry skin at the moment. I gave it a 3 because I'm sure it would work ok for someone with normal/oilier skin and it's definitely "stay put", I'll give it that! Will review how I got on at the Dior counter next!

This is the best foundation ever. If it wasn't for these positive reviews I would still be wasting time and money. I was matched to Fresco, the coverage is unbelievable and staying power is very long lasting - trust me ladies, this stuff does not budge. I apply it with a MAC 190 foundation brush and blend it very quickly as it dries in no time. This foundation is quite thick so there's no need to use much. To remove this I use Estee Lauder's 'Take it Away Total Makeup Remover' which works very well with removing all traces of this budge-proof makeup. Such a wonderful foundation...if I could high-five the Estee Lauder crew for creating this sensation I would haha.
