Leave this stuff on a problem area over night and it is gone or much better in the morning. The only bad part is its sulfur smell.

I hate this mask. It actually breaks me out more! I've tried it on several occasions and each time I ended up with more zits after. All the hype about it you'd think it would work. It sure didn't cure my acne over night. Only made it worse.

I think that this may be the be product in the pro activ line, but that's not saying much. For all of the hype I was expecting alot more. Alone I'm not sure that it would have dried my skin out, but used in combination with their other products it killed my skin.

I got this with my 3 step kit. This mask is the only thing I liked and worked on my skin from the getgo. It didn't dry out my skin. A lil' goes a long way. I mostly use it as an overnight spot treatment. It really minimize the size of a pimple by morning. There are 2 things that I do not like about this product and that is the smell. It's just nasty. The smell lingers and stay with you for a couple of hours after you wash it all off. I can still smell it once in a awhile even after I use a noticeably smelling moisturizer. The other thing that I hate is that it clings to your skin. When I use it as a mask, I practically have to rub the hell on my skin with warm water for a long time to get all the product off. Yucky filmy feel when trying to rinse it off.

Out of all the Pro Activ stuff I tried this was the only one I liked. I use it for the occasional spot treatment and I believe it speeds things along nicely. I will not re-purchase but I will seek out a similar and cheaper product when I finally run out.
Age: 25-29 Skin: Sensitive, Tan Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
I like this mask especially for spot treatments overnight. Helps reduce the size and duration of a breakout. Its kind of hard to rinse off, but doesn't dry my skin (when used allover) out too bad when followed with a moisturizer. I will say that it does seem to reduce pore size a bit, but not as much as QH MJM.

OK, first of all, I am not a fan of tubes like this where you have to cut it in half to get the most for your buck (or am I just cheap? lmao!), secondly, I only swapped for this, so I gave it a three on price (others say it is expensive, I can't really say)....FINALLY my overall rating would be a 4. I took one off for price and packaging, but as far as results? It's like a miracle in a tube! I am a SEVERE face picker, I put this on, and overnight it dries out the pimple...I am not sure how it does it, but it is fabulous! I introduced this to my boyfriend and he was surprised how it cleared his pimple overnight!!!! You can't leave this on allover your face overnight however as it will be drying to your skin. I use a LIGHT layer if I want to put it on overnight and I am fine, but I wouldnt load it on allover prior to bed, but as a spot here and there on troubled spots....it is fantastic!

I used Pro Activ on and off for a long while with mixed feelings about it. For a while, it really seemed to work for my skin. Time passed and severe irritation is the only thing it gave my skin. I, however, actually liked their Refining Mask. I liked the way it felt to put on and when I rinsed my face several minutes later, my face felt much smoother. By the next morning, I would notice that my bigger, raised blemishes would be a bit smaller. This product is also (expectedly) considerably drying... and EXPENSIVE! I have found something that works far better for me and I could buy about 5-6 of them for the cost of 1 refining mask. A decent product, but there are better out there! I will not be repurchasing.

I LOVE this product!! This mask is the HOLY GRAIL of my skin care routine. I'm not a fan of the other Pro Activ products (which I've tried), but I couldn't live without the Refining Mask!! I use it 2 to 3 times a week as an all-over mask and as a spot treatment for overnight use. My skin has GREATLY improved, and that's saying something since I have the worst skin in the world. I feel it is a tad over priced ($25 + shipping) but I get it on auto shipment from QVC every 60 days for $20 + shipping. A super product!!

This product definately dried up the spot but then I spent a week with REALLY dry skin that you could not cover up so I stopped using it!

I used Pro Activ about 5 yrs ago, but wasn't overly thrilled, so I quit using it.
Last night I used the refining mask, because my boyfriend has been using the system for the last couple of months. I was home alone and figured I would give it another go.
I was blown away today when I discovered that by noon my face didn't have any greasies!!! I'm used to blotting by mid-morning and my skin was so........normal. I was really impressed and plan on using his mask many times in the future. I may have to pick my own up!!

I love all the Proactiv products. They work great you just have to use them regularly. I use this at least once a week.I put it all over my face and leave it on for 10 mins.wash it off with warm water then I'll do step 2 & 3.

i can't believe i wasted money on this crap. it doesn't do anything! you're better off getting a mask at a drug store for a fraction of the cost. i bet it would be a lot more effective that this refining mask. if you're looking for a sulfur based mask, opt for the queen helene mint julep, which really IS a fraction of the cost!

This is the single best spot treatment I have ever used. I used to use the entire line, but once I got on the pill my cystic acne went away. However, I still use this product every single night (so does my fiance) to spot treat pimples and/or potential pimples. It honestly clears them pretty much overnight.
I dot on the masks in areas where I am prone to break out (mainly my chin) and it is like it prevents the pimples before they even start. My fiance loves it too. We both laugh because we go to bed with little white dots on our faces, but it is better to have clear skin than breakouts! 100% recommended.

i don't use the proactiv care system - i got this mask from my sister, who used to use the whole proactiv system but it stopped working for her.
this face mask SMELLS SO BAD! (hence the overall rating) the sulfur in it smells like rotten eggs. but the mask itself works pretty well as a spot treatment. i apply it to acne spots & leave it on overnight. i've never used it as a whole face treatment because i can't stand the smell.
i get occassional cystic acne flare ups on my chin & i use this stuff on them. cystic acne is bad no matter what, but the mask seems to help them disappear a few days faster. i think it works better with smaller pimples (whiteheads), especially after being popped first.
i wouldn't buy this again b/c of the smell. i'm gonna try queen helene's mint julep mask - it contains sulfur too but smells much better.

I don't understand the lukewarm reviews. This is the only thing from Proactiv that I can actually use. I love this. Everytime I feel a breakout coming on I just use this. I don't use it regularly (like once a week or something). Just when I need it. It dries out all the bumps and makes my skin so smooth. Also, sometimes I will put a little bit on a blemish at night and sleep with it on. When I wake up the next morning it is much less visible. I will definitely repurchase over and over again.

I swear by this stuff!!! I take a little dab everynight and put it on whatever huge pimples/blemishes that I have or if I can feel one coming on. It doesn't work every single time but it is still an amazing product. This is the only product from Pro Activ that has worked for me.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Acne-prone, Tan Hair: Blond Eyes: Green
I know I'm in the minority when I say this but I like the 3-step system far more than the mask.
I have never found it to reduce the size of any big honkers or help my pores look better. In addition it has that disgusting sulfur/rotten eggs smell and the tube is so hard to push anything out of.
One bonus though, I didn't find it drying, which is the case with most clay masks (that tight feeling).

the refining mask worked weirdly. It got all of the gunk out of my pores, but not the ones that i needed the most. it cleaned the pores that weren't inflamed. my actual pimples didnt get any smaller, reduce in redness, or even change at all.
this product works for PREVENTING acne, not getting rid of what is already there.

Its been a few years since I've done the whole proactive thing.....but as far as I can remember, this was pretty decent for surface acne, not so much for cystic pimples or nodules. The three step system was a joke, but this was some sort gift with purchase thing, and I liked this. It smelled like nasty potato salad but it dried up my surface pimples or whiteheads. I think that this is avaliable for purchase by itself, but I would recommend the Queen Helene Mint Julip mask, its loads cheaper and does a great job.
