Gardenias? Fruits? I don't smell either one of these "top notes" in this scent at all. I know what Gardenias smell like and this is not it. Bottom line, it smells like CEDAR to me and ON me. I purchased a candle from Yankee Candles called "Cedar and Nutmeg" (which gives me a headache) and I have to say this fragrance smells very similiar. It's heavy and over-powering and gave me a headache 2 hours into wearing it. I will be taking this back to Nordstroms.

This is a recent huge surprise for me--tested it reluctantly at a Nordstrom SA's insistence, and was mildly surprised. Then I took a sample home and promptly fell in love--this is a beautiful sexy, fresh floral gardenia, that I will be wearing a lot. Not a huge Versace fan myself, but this fragrance smells gorgeous on me, and the bottle is striking, as well.

I don't have it yet but I really want it!!! I smelled it on my coworker a couple weeks ago and have been obbsessed with it ever since. The first whiff I got was this coconut scent mixed with creamy floralness. And so as soon as I had the chance I rushed over to Nordstom and tried it for myself. It's not as coconutty on me but it's still creamy and rich, with amber floral notes. I guess it's the gardenia mixed w/ amber that does it. I't very feminine ands sophisticated and lasts a decent amount of time.

After smelling Versace's Blonde I swore never to come near Versace fragrances again, but was seduced by Crystal Noir's packaging and actually like the EDP a lot. It is very elegant, understadedly floral, really nice. Finally a Versace perfume I can wear.

Edited: wow, I am going to have to get a big huge bottle. I have a mini and samples. It's incredible, but it takes a while to grow on you. The notes are gardenia and amber; however, it's got a lot of spicy fig in it. It's a beautiful, sulty, original sexy scent. The bottle is very pretty with its aubergine/onyx crystal. I didn't "get" the scent at first, but it haunted me, as my true loves have tended to do. Nice job, Versace!

Horrible fruit juice! Nothing of a "NOIR" fragrance...Shiseido cult fragrance "Nombre Noir" remember?
Talking about Shiseido, no wonder why Donatella wears Salons Palais Royal Shiseido by Serge Lutens scents !!!

I hated this and thought it was mannish the first time I tried it; however, I do like this the more I try it. However, the gardenia top note does not last *at all* and it ends up smelling like straight up sandalwood on me. I got it as a Sephora sample and I wear it occasionally, but it's too woody for me to actually buy. Sexy, though, and the men do love it. Good for winter parties.

A guy I know raved about this scent as "so sexy, it makes me find anyone who wears it sexy." Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but nontheless, it made me very curious to try this Crystal Noir on myself. I went to the Versace store near where I live and sprayed with abandon. I smelled an oversimplified scent of gardenia and amber, way too floral and unoriginal for me. I'm not a Versace perfume fan, so here is another disappointment. My guy friend must have just liked the girl wearing it or maybe it didn't work with my chemistry, because he said when he smelled it on me- "ewww, what IS that perfume?" I told him it was his favorite, and he said- "wow, it sure doesn't smell as good as it did on that girl." Yeah, so Versace Crystal Noir is not for me. Too much gardenia and a very floral scent, but the bottle is beautiful. The scent does not match the bottle or name in my opinion.

I sampled this yesterday and it was absolutely horrid. If you took a wad of Play Doh and coated it with buttercream/coconut frosting, you'd get this scent. It made me feel physically ill. Very cool bottle, though.

I have a sample of this, so I must say I don't know the price or packaging.

I like this scent a lot. It's a musky floral scent, with what smells like coconut at the end. The drydown is a little sweeter, and the gardenia really comes through. I'm going to buy a bottle when I can.

This smelled both peppery and fruity with the pepper overwhelming the fruit. If that is what you are looking for, knock yourself out. Didn't work for me - I smelled like I had bathed in black pepper!

Typical Versace: too sweet, modern, trendy, not very complex. It is not unpleasant (it is better than Versace Woman) but it's nothing special. Pretty average scent.

I got a spritz-sample of this with my Sephora order, as it is something I would never have thought I liked enough to order without smelling it first. Well, I'm sorry to say but I was proven wrong. It's a rich, lush scent with just enough warmth for the colder weather, and like the other reviews state, there is a certain creaminess to this scent. I swear this is not what I thought gardenia smells like (Like Marc Jacobs or the other slew of gardenia fragrances) and I know there is a fruity accord in there somewhere, which adds to the lovely ambiance of the perfume. I adore this new find.

This is my new favorite scent, I absolutley adore it. It is perfect for winter, creamy with a hint of vanilla. It is hard to describe, but it is a sexy light floral, yet seems to be very diverse. I can smell so many wonderful things in this, and it is not strong to me at all, very light and fresh. Oh so yummy! I definitley will purchase this one.

I am not a fan of any of the Versace perfumes, but I must admit I am swept off my feet by this one. Dark, mysterious, lush..you will not quit smelling your wrists!I am a vanilla girl all the way but first chill in the air always sends me searching in Nordstroms for something for fall and winter. This is it! The website just says gardenia and amber...surely there are more notes in it than this. It's creamy, steamy and oh so decadent. Run don't walk to try some for yourself!

A new Sephora opened near me, and I had a box of Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue in my hand when the salesperson accosted me. I was game for an outside opinion, so I asked her if anything new and interesting on the perfume shelf had caught her attention recently. She mentioned Crystal Noir, and admitted that she normally didn't do heavy Orientals, but fell in love with this one because it was so very sexy. She spritzed it on my wrist and I had to agree--it smelled so delicious and wicked and mysterious, that I felt like I needed to shed my jeans and turtleneck and instead slip into a sparkly black slip dress, with diamonds on my earlobes for good measure. Although I hadn't felt sexy for weeks, this perfume was all I needed to start strutting again, heh. I later looked up the notes on the sephora website--gardenia and amber--which were not super surprising, since amber often works well with my chemistry. I find straight up gardenia (Marc Jacobs, Fracas) to verge on too sweet/cloying, but the warmth of amber in this fragrance makes it very wearable. While I usually find floral orientals to be very overpowering, this one was actually quite subtle on me. My only complaint is the staying power--by eight hours it had pretty much completely faded. For now I'm enjoying my sample, but I plan on getting the 50 mL bottle to get it for Christmas.

When I smelled this at the fragrance counter, I was pleasantly surprised. This a very sexy fragrance. I really like amber, so maybe that's what's doing it for me. I love the bottle and I am strongly considering buying this.

A saleswoman at Norstrom's in Orlando decanted a sample of this for me to try, but when I first tried it, I was suffering from a bad case of nose fatigue, and just couldn't bear to try another fragrance.

So yesterday I was heading over to Orlando to teach, and decided to put some of the sample on in the car. The notes are supposed to be mainly gardenia and amber, and I do get that, but there is also something more woody underneath that. The top notes had a bit too much aldehyde or other nose-tickling attributes, but the drydown was nice, if not really that special.

I'm not really a raving Versace fan in the first place; the packaging always seems...weird to me on those "jeans" type fragrances (fun, maybe, but still weird). I think that I will be trying this one out again, and reserving final judgement till then.
