I love this moisturizer. I use The Body Shop's Seaweed line and their Tea Tree line and I love them both. The price is a little steep, and I don't like the packaging because I have to stick my finger in the tub and hope I don't use too much. However, it keeps my oil at bay for a good portion of the day (at least in the winter; I'm sure summer will be a different story). I don't really have combination skin; my skin is pretty oily all over, but this moisturizer has really helped. I recommend it. I bought the travel sized kit first, after being recommended this line by my sister-in-law, and went back the next week to buy the full size (they were having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free, sweet!) and I have not been disappointed. I love this stuff.

For some reason there are two entries for this and the other one has a pretty bad overall rating.
It mattifies, but don't expect it to stay perfectly mattified for the whole day on super oily faces unless you use a light dusting of finishing or oil control powder.
You don't need to use much to cover the entire face, making it slightly more economical but $16 is still a bit much for what you get. A pea sized amount will cover my face as it glides on and spreads really easily. It's a very light and gel-cream texture and smells nice with a very mild fragrance.
I don't feel as if it's really moisturizing though, perhaps because of how little I put on. It's good for all seasons except in winter when my skin is actually not producing enough oils on the cheeks, nose and around the mouth. I still get flakes with this on in the winter on my combo skin.
There are silicones in this, probably what makes it glide on so easily and makes your skin feel smooth. Silicones don't break me out so it's not so bad for me. In fact, I find that makeup applies a bit better because of the silicones, though not as good as a real primer.
I am on the second jar of this but I don't know if I will buy a third time. I'm looking for a cheaper replacement gel-cream for day use.

I have combi skin and i find that this product works pretty well for me! it mattifys my face, and yet at the same time, able to provide moisture to it. The product is also very lightweight, nothing too heavy.
However, within 2-3hours, my face would be a tad "shiny." (could be due to climate reasons) no doubt as compared to a clean face, this product has certainly prolonged the matt, dewy look.
Smell wise, not much of a comment. Im a 'okay' with it.
I hope it comes in a pump though. the constant dipping of fingers/spatulas could be pretty unhygienic/troublesome.

Smells nice, glides smoothly over the face, makes your skin so soft and it mattifies well.
Use only a little, just thin enough to cover the face.
Price is O.K as you only need to use a little bit of it, could last more than 4-5 months.
Not greasy at all with its gel consistency, definitely a lot better than the one with SPF in it. Both didn't break me out tho.
I will repurchase and recommend it to ppl with combination-oily skin!

I actually love this cream alot. I bought the travel size to give it a go. I have very oily skin, no other primers have ever been able to control the shine on my face. Suprisingly it works quite well, I'm impressed. The consistency is something I really like about this product, it's gel-like and feels like a serum. The slightest amount can be easily applied on your entire face. It sets quickly, in about a minute. Afterwards, my foundation sits on it like a dream. My face stays matte for upwards of 6 hours! Amazing. I don't care for the tub packaging, bacteria.. ick! Other than that, this is a great product for me. I suppose it's hit or miss for others, I will definitely update if any problems arise!

I really wanted to love this product, and I had heard such great things about it that I immediately went out to buy it I did however buy the sample/travel size (good call) since I wanted to test it out before. I had given up on products that claim to control oil, and I thought why not test this day cream out. I have combination skin; dry chin area and VERY oily T-zone, especially if I wear any type of foundation. I have noticed that the more things I use on my face the worst it is for my oily skin. It almost makes me even more oily. I gave up on primers because I find them a waste of money and they do not even control my oily skin. Not even expensive high end brands. Believe me I've tried it all. I've simply settled to using blotting papers/powder and beleieve that their really is no solution to those who have VERY oily skin like myself. Any products that may possibly work for those who in reality have REALLY oily skin?

I purchased this for about $3 at the Body Shop, because my skin is obscenely oily and I am always looking to mattify it. I read the bad reviews, but used it anyways. I loved how it moisturized enough but dried matte. I then used my typical foundation routine over it (primer, ELDWL, Maybelline DM powder), and stayed matte for about an hour longer! It really seemed to keep the shine away. I will repurchase, because it was one of the few mattifying products that work!

When I try products I usually dont expect highly of them, even if it is high end and pricey.I previosuly tried the Nivea Mattifying Gel Cream and I was not impressed it did very little. So in comparison with the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream, I LOVE IT! It does control shine and keeps your face oil free.
-The gel consistency sinks in nicely, not too thick.
-Smells good and fresh.
-A little goes a long way.
-Glides over your face smoothly.
-Settles in pretty quick. (specially if your in a hurry)
-There is an extra lid/cap that is included is convinient incase you drop it or leave it open or prevents anything else falling into it.
-Price is a little too much, considering it works. I think it's appropriate.(only because of my good result, may vary for other people)
-Packaging, would definetly love it in a pump or tube BUT in a tub you can see exactly how much is left and use all of it up completely.

This doesn't exactly mattify, but it works well as a nice light moisturizer for the dry areas of my combination skin.

I love this product! I've got combination skin so my skin needs oil control and moisture at the same time without being too heavy. This is a really light almost gel-like cream that leaves skin soft and moisturised whilst controlling shine. I also love the smell, it's really refreshing. The only downside is the price. £9 for 50ml? hmmmm.
