This seems like a great product at first as it covers really well with only the smallest amount of product, it's fairly waterproof too, which is great if the weather is hot and humid and you're perspiring a lot (you can even swim in it!)... But I will only use this on my face if it's absolutely neccesary, like I have a major zit that wont cover with anything else -- but even if i use it for that purpose, i'm really desperate because i know that in a few days i will have even more, much worse zits from it! This causes the WORST breakouts for me and I dont get very bad breakouts normally - i'm combo skin, tending toward dry, but this gives me bad pimples... it prob has loads of silicone/dimethicone it in, which clogs my skin -- people out there with a tendency to breakout should try to avoid silicone derivatives/dimethicone because over time they will clog pores, not immediately, it can take several months of use for the clogging to occur resulting in breakouts... BUT on the upside it is a fantastic eyeshadow primer - smooths the skin around eyes/eyelides, holds your eyeshadow on all day - perfect base.

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know that after a lot of searching I have finally found my HG foundation. It provides the best full coverage I have ever seen yet it is easy to apply and blend and really lightweight and not heavy or cakey at all. I am currently on Accutane and I have had so many problems with my skin and finally (two weeks before I am set to go off the pills) I have found the right foundation for me - and I wanted to share it with you all because I have tried so many foundations while i was on accutane and could never find the right one!

It's Estee Lauder's Maximum Cover Lightweight Foundation - it is not the US version for face and body - it's the UK version - i have it in Light and bought it from www.garden.co.uk

I use it with Estee Lauder's foundation brush - apply the foundation in a downward motion using 'X' movements and on top i use Estee Lauder's Aeromatte Ultralucent pressed powder in Transparent - I have never in the past used EL products but I must say i am totally in love with these products and make a perfect combination for people like me who need to use OIL FREE products and need full coverage!

EDIT: I have just found out that this product is NOT NOT NOT oil free - i was so disappointed as this does such a great job of covering. I contacted EL because i suspected that this foundation is not oil free and they confirmed that it contains oil even though on their UK website it said that the product was oil free - they have now changed the product description - i am very disappointed now since I can only use oil free products

I love this product, although I don't need maximum coverage, I like the fact that it covers all problems with only a tiny amount. Love the tube as well as you aren't putting fingers in the pot/bottle. Concealer and foundation in one and no need for powder at the end. Handbag must have. Love it.

I bought this a while back and thought it was friggin miraculous. I stopped using it on my face because it was too thick on me and seemed to crease my undereye area. I recently started using it again on blemishes only and I love it. Just a couple dabs here and there to cover and I dust loose powder over the top. Works pretty darned good. Under the eye it gets pretty oily.. but covers very well.

Edit: when mixed with a bit of regular foundation (I use Laura Mercier), it's actually very nice, maintaining its superior coverage. It still needs more than four colors, though.

I was too optimistic to think I'd actually match one of the FOUR colors that are offered in this particular line, especially when Estee Lauder usually has a pretty bad line of skin colors in the first place.

Even if this foundation (I am normally NW25 and purchased Creamy Vanilla at the recommendation of the counter makeup artist) had matched my skin tone, however, I would not have continued using it. I may be lacking in technique, but this foundation is extremely difficult to spread, and once you do it sinks into your pores and makes your skin look more rough than it did prior to application. You cannot put on more, however, because then your face takes a mask-like quality. Since I have no ambitions to be a kabuki performer, I have to pass on this product.

This was my HG for about 6 mos. I have normal skin and never had a problem with break-outs until this stuff. I had the worst acne of my life during the use of this product. Sure it is long-wear but my pores were sooo clogged they hurt. I wanted to use it so badly that I bought the most expensive skin care and heavy duty make-up remover to compensate for the damage I was causing. Nevertheless I had to stop using it because everyone started asking me why I had developed acne...ugh. I am a make-up artist and this was unacceptable. As soon as I stopped my pores thanked me and the acne went away!My new HG is DiorSkin!

This stuff has amazing coverage in a surprisingly light formula. Ditto about using a very small amount at a time. This will probably last me forever as I'm not able to use it alone as a foundation because I'm pretty oily and it melts. I use this (Creamy Ivory) over my Lancome Teint Idole in Ivoire 2 (Porcelaine Delicate), just in the areas I need the extra coverage and under my eyes, and it is perfect! If you're lucky enough to be able to use this alone, be prepared for an easy and fast application! You will need little to no concealer with this!!! 4 out of 5 because it isn't great for very oily gals like me and comes in only 4 colors! I will repurchase!

I have bought this product in Europe (because a live there) in 2 different shades: 04 light and 05 light/medium. I bought it a few years ago, but it still works the best for me. Like others said: use a little bit of the stuff and blend well. If you have acne or scars this is a perfect product for you.

Yuck! I looked orange! It was heavy alright, but looking like a clown isn't exactly what I had in mind. It comes in a measly three shades and an opaque tube so the color is deceiving. Greasy, greasy, greasy...

Great coverage, long-lasting. I wore this on my wedding day. A little too heavy for everyday use, though. Perfect for photos. (Update 12/24/2004: Too heavy for everyday use. Nowadays, I use it as a concealer)

Great coverage. I would've never discovered this w/o the help of this website. I didn't give this product max lippies because (1) there are only 4 colors to choose from at my local Filenes!, and (2) I have to use a foundation primer underneath for it to really stay put on my oily skin. Other than that, this is the BEST liquid foundation ever to make your skin look absolutely flawless. A little bit goes a long way, and my face looks very natural.

I love this foundation. A little goes a long way, so it's entirely possible to have the same tube for a year or so. I have combination skin which tends to get very oily in the summer, and this works wonders for me. Also, I live in Las Vegas, where summer temps are between 100 and 120, and this foundation holds up really well given the conditions.

I would have given it a five, but the color selection at the EL counters is severely limited. I went to two major department stores, and neither had creamy ivory. I am PPP and against my better judgement, I went ahead and purchased creamy vanilla (I thought maybe with a little bit of summer color it might look better). I was wrong. I am still too fair skinned for it. It looks like it matches, but then you're left with the dreaded orange jaw line.

To make a long story short, creamy vanilla is going back to Dillard's tomorrow. I had to purchase creamy ivory online, which I hate doing because of shipping and handling costs.

On another note, from the way the SAs acted when I asked for this product, it seems likes this isn't one of the more popular foundations. It took three of them to figure out what I was looking for, even with the exact name and tube description. Be adament when searching for this product- it really is an excellent buy.

I just wanted to add that although I still use this, I do so only as a concealer. It gives beautiful coverage as a foundation, but it makes my skin too oily. I now use it as a spot concealer in conjunction with L'oreal's Mattique foundation, and I'm loving the results.

I really like this foundation. It covers everything. If you have dry skin, then I suggest using a heavy moisturizer before applying. With a good moisturizer, goes on smoothly with just a small pea-sized drop. I am so glad I found this wonderful foundation.

First let me say I am glad to have this site around because I base a lot of my decisions on these reviews. I have mild acne. For a year I have been using mineral makeup and it just did not give the coverage I was looking for. I actually read all the foundation reviews on this site looking for one that stated excellent coverage without breakouts.

After finding this one last week I decide to stop at the mall on my way home. Let me say I did not think the foundation was expensive. At Dillards it was only $25. Considering BE Mineral makeup is $32 + shipping (what I had been using) I don't consider $25 high at all.

Anyway, I bought some and I truly love it. I do have to agree with others about the color selection. There were only four to choose from. WORDS OF WISDOM: TRY IT ON AT THE STORE!! Like another reviewer on here, I'm normally in the medium light category yet the medium dark is what I use in this. So absolutely do not go in a buy a tube thinking you can color match yourself based on what you usually use. Trust me, you can't.

I went straight home & redid my entire face of makeup just to try it out. I swear this product is a miracle. I totally gained time using it because you don't need a coverup at all. Heck, half my time is spent in applying coverup properly. It was simply amazing being able to put on foundation and powder like normal people (ya know, those with good skin).

Now, you can use your fingers to apply it if you want a thick coverage or a sponge for a sheerer coverage. I prefer using a brush. For BE Mineral users they sell a flat head foundation brush. Estee sells one too. Use it. You can literally paint the makeup on in no time and you get into all the crevices

For the reviewer that said it felt thick, I have a feeling they didn't use a small amount. Word to the wise, start really really small and increase as needed. A drop of this stuff spreads like melted butter really unexpectedly. I mean it really spreads with only a small drop. I can do my whole face with just a small drop so if you feel it's thick then you're probably using way too much. UPDATE: I really love this stuff. Since a lot goes a long way this tube will easily last me a year & I wear makeup everyday. I will say that I called EL Customer Line & mentioned the color selection being slim. They said it used to be really broad but they found most people actually fit into four categories which are the ones they have now. Not sure how true that is but anyway... they did say the product isn't going anywhere anytime soon THANK GOODNESS. So on the downside they aren't expanding the line, on the good side they aren't doing away with it either. One thing I have noticed, I don't 'feel' this product when it's on my face. It nearly feels thick or cakey. Again, for the few that felt it was a bit to heavy for daily use I recommend trying a little less. When you first use this you tend to use a lot more than you need because most foundation takes a lot more. Trust me, this stuff requires only a small dot to do a whole face so use it sparingly.

I love this product - Have been using mineral make-up for the past 2 years , but could just not get the coverage I needed. I use this in the darkest color available , which surprises me as I ususally am in the med - light catagory. I also am very sensitive to break-outs , but this has not affected my skin one bit. Caution, you only need a tiny , tiny amount to cover up any discolorations and the coverage lasts all day. Have bought 3 so far. One for home, one for work, and one for my purse. Love the pkg.

NC20, LLL, Combo Skin, Sensitive, Mild Rosacea>>I must be in the minority with this foundation as I found it very heavy/masklike. I found it to be effective in covering redness, splotchiness but not without heaviness. It honestly felt like I was wearing a "makeup liquid bandage" as it was uncomfortable. Estee Lauder really needs to expand the shade range on this foundation as there are few choices for fair-skinned gals. In addition, I also found that it tended to settle into my pores and accentuated them (a struggle with rosacea gals)..Since finding Kanebo cream foundation, I am able to cover well without cakiness or a heavy feeling. It is good for spot concealing but if you are over 30, it does accentuate lines, pores. Nice for spots but that's it..Will not repurchase.
