This mascara does by no means give my lashes volume (seeing as the name states it's a volume mascara), but it seperates my lashes beautifly and makes them look really long (but thin) with rarely any clumps. I guess it might give lashes volume if you have the patience to apply several coats every time you're going out (but I don't).
Besides the fact that it doesn't do what it promises, what it really does makes up for it. My eyes look really big and baby-dollish when wearing this mascara, and has therfore earn a place in my makeup bag.

I was pleasantly surprised by this mascara. It is extremely buildable and gives really great definition, and barely clumps. The formula is medium-dry so you don't get that many goops. Those that you do get brush out easily. Very good volume, great length and definition.

I love everything about this mascara except for the price. The dry formula is exactly what my thin eyelashes need, and it never clumps or sticks. Wet formulas are goopy and hard to apply evenly and consistently for me. This one is perfect.

I have had such a problem using mascare because it clumps and it generally caused matter to form in my eyes because of the irriation. I tried a lot of things before this (I believe that my FRESH mascara was the culprit) and this causes no irritation. I wouldn't say that it gives the best coverage on earth, but it's great for people whose eyes are easily irritated.

It comes in a pretty package, but that's where the positive facets of this mascara end. Glumpy, clumpy, and sticky. It doesn't give my lashes any definition because it doesn't even begin to separate them. And the only volume that comes with this is the big clumps of mascara left at the end of the lashes. This is even worse than Maybelline's Great Lash. I'm sticking with my DiorShow.

I recieved this in one of those Estee Lauder gift packs, so I gave it a try. I'm on an obsessive search for a mascara that will give me the false eyelash look, without being really clumpy and nasty. I know that's pretty much the impossible dream, but I can try! The formula is a bit dry, however I barely needed to brush through it with my eyelash comb like most volumizing/lenghtening formulas. The picture below shows my natural lashes ( left) and the mascara (right). This may be HG material, however I'd rather find an inexpensive drugstore version. Edit: My eyelashes do look a bit mangled in that picture actually...

I have received two of these as GWPs and I really like them. A really good mascara for dramatic looks - elongates and fattens all of my lashes. I have naturally glossy lashes that are not stubby nor thin, and I hate it when mascaras gob up too much or look spiky or spidery. This mascara provides dramatic looks and looks glossy on. It works well on the lower lashes as well as uppers. It won't replace my Dior, but I really like this as much as I like Clinique's High Impact.

I honestly cannot tell a difference between this and Estee Lauder's More than Mascara ( which is one of my favorite mascaras). It does not irritate my eyes, is easy to remove and does not flake on me. I do not notice any increase in volume from Projectionist. I always blot the mascara wand once before using so this and have no problems with clumping.

I am not easily impressed by mascaras. They all start to seem the same after awhile. But this one stood out quickly. I love how dark and lush my eyelashes look after applying this. It doesn't smudge or flake and really adds a finishing touch to my make-up. This one is a keeper and I would definitely repurchase it over drugstore brands. So if you want to venture out into department store mascara and don't know where to start I would recommend this one.

Ever wonder how many different mascaras were released to the market over the years? Must be thousands. Like wondering how many books have ever been written. Just when I thought that surely by now the market is saturated, and every mascara tops the last one, out comes Estee Lauder with Projectionist. Now, mind you, I just got one in a GWP, I didn't buy it. But it does everything you want mascara to do. For some reason it was clumpy the very first time I used it. But not after that. Maybe it was really wet. It definately makes me look like I have more lashes, and lasts all day. I give it a 4 because I haven't ever said "Wow!" with it. I gave it a 4 for price because it's HE but not as high as some stupid hi priced mascaras. The package is just regular plastic, but you really don't need more. And yes, if I bought it again, it wouldn't be a mistake.

This will be another splurge I have to have!! I finally found a mascara that makes my lashes look like they did when I was 20 - thick, elongated, really Good!! However - not so used to paying $24 for a product that I usually ditch every 2 months . This will have to be an extra "treat" for myself once in a while - probably not a staple (like when I need some extra $ towards an EL gwp, or it's my BIRTHDAY) - ha!
Update: I've purchased several tubes of this in a row that dry out very quickly (in a matter of 2-3 weeks!) Not impressed! Old stock? Cover Girl Lash Blast is almost as good for a fraction of the price - might try that for a while.

I'm not sure why others found this mascara to be a bust! On my lashes, it didn't clump. It is highly pigmented so it shows up well. I get nice, defined lashes that seem to be lengthened as well. I prefer this over Lancome, MAC and drugstore mascaras. My goodness -- I may have found my HG!
EDIT 9/14: This mascara is not all that. I still agree with my original post about it not clumping but it doesn't make your lashes pop dramtically for the price tag. I've gotten better results with DiorShow and Maybelline's Turbo Boost 7x.

I got a sample of this and it's just a very basic, clumpy kind of dryish mascara. Not great, and will not purchase. It was difficult to apply and didn't do anything particularly wonderful for my lashes.

Didn't smudge nor flake, but the formula was waaay to heavy on my long but Oh, so straight lashes. Think it would work better on somewhat thicker ones.
Gave it three lippies 'cause it gives really thick, pigmented lashes and stays on forever.
BTW; love Estée lauder's mascara containers... Mascara container? Is that what it's called? I don't know... :P

I've just about had it with claims of Volume, definition, etc. This is pure Garbajjjj!!! If you want spidery, stiff lashes that cant hold a curl and spend money at an Estee Lauder counter where NASTINESS is the motto...go ahead.
Its ridiculous the amount of money I put into finding a decent mascara...and Im fed up with FALSE CLAIMS!
BTW...the nasty salespeople were over at SAKS in NYC...I asked about return policy and they began to ignore me fianlly I asked again to hear the shocked woman say "Why would you want to return it I dont understand?" Are you kidding me...!!!
I liked Lancome Hypnose but it got rather dry quickly. Still searching!

I've had very good luck with this mascara -- no clumping, no flaking, no end of the day smudges. Problems I've had with a lot of other mascaras (hello, Lancome? Clinique?) I won't give it a 5 because there may be something more fab out there, but I'm really, really happy with the definition and the length I get and the way I can finish up the day not looking like a raccoon!

I got this yesterday. I usually use Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara, but I can't find it anywhere anymore. I asked the lady at the Estee Lauder counter for a brush that DIDN'T seperate your eyelashes and gave volume without clumping. I like the brushes with lots of bristles that are close together so it makes it look like you've brushed them with a fine tooth comb. This stuff is great!, I love it. It didn't flake off on me, and the volume was great without looking clumpy or crazy thick. I don't like the plain natural look, but don't like the thick and clumpy look, and this is right in between. I looked at my eyelashes in my rearview mirror today and actually thought they looked really pretty. This stuff is my favorite mascara!

I was seriously disappointed in this mascara, which I bought after considering a lot of candidates. I had expected it to give a nice, clumpless result with length and a bit of volume, but instead, I find that it clumps like hell, and doesn't stay put on the lashes, either. I also find the formula a bit dry for my liking.

I was blessed with my father's long eyelashes that are naturally curled (don't be jealous though because I also got his dark circles and bags under my eyes!). The other EL volumnizing mascara, MagnaScopic, was faaaaaaar too clumpy on me. Projectionist is just PERFECT -- it definitely adds volume without adding too much product to cause clumpiness. It definitely adds definition, as it says. EL has this mascara at a lower price than the rest of their mascaras -- but I don't know why.

I bought this new EL mascara after reading the good reviews on here, and also cus i was really curious. Well, i wish I hadn't have bothered. Firstly it cost £17.50 in the UK, so not exactly cheap! I'd say my eyelashes are pretty average- average thickness and ok, but not great length. This mascara on the first coat did nothing. Second coat you could actually tell i had mascara on but very, very natural...then if i attempted a third coat i got CLUMPING! and a lot! and still my lashes looked nothing special, no thickness....no length, they just looked coated with mascara, thats it. I can point out a ton of d/s mascaras that are better than this...such as MF masterpiece or 2000 calories. You will actually get great, 'wow' lashes with those. However this mascara is honestly nothing special, unless u really are going for the super natural look (in which case this is waaaaaaay over priced for that)
