I have naturally strawberry-blonde hair with salon blonde highlights, and I tried this along after the rest of my Sheer Blonde (platinum to champagne) line, which I love. I was looking forward to silky hair, brilliant shine, and soft texture. I left it in for four minutes (it says to leave in for three or more minutes). Unfortunately, my hair felt stiff - my hair was tangled, and it was like I'd added too much styling product. It made my hair look dry. It did bring out my highlights, but it's not worth buying a product that makes your hair feel awful when the product has only one redeeming quality.

Tried this today (in Honey-Caramel blonde) to add some shine to my highlighted hair, which is a mid blonde.

Followed the directions and ended up with dry, frizzy hair without a hint of shine. It actually made my hair worse than before !

Oh, and there was no colour change.

Don't waste you money on this !

I bought the Radiant Red one for darker reds, granted I'm not the greatest at using it 3x a week and definitely not every wash like it recommends, but I am bummed that it didn't seem to help maintain any of the red tones in my hair color, especially since reds fade so darn fast. Maybe I could speak more on that though if I used it more regularly.
I hate the way it smells. Definitely not pleasant in my book. And the texture can be difficult to apply w/o losing some on the shower floor b/c it is slippery. Stains my hands slightly but washes away with some scrubbing. I do like that it leaves my hair feeling softer and smoother. But that is about all I have noticed, but no softer/smoother than any good shampoo/conditioner. I have found it to be pretty much another useless step so I will not be repurchasing I don't think, although I am ever so slightly interested in the clear one for some reason.

I'm also really surprised at some of the reviews for this product! After reading the reviews I was a little wary and discouraged, but at our local Priceline (an excellent Australian pharmacy superstore!) it was on sale for half-price and I just can't resist bargains. I purchased the shade Platinum to Champagne and applied it to wet hair after I had treated my hair with Terax Crema. Now my hair is normally so dry and unmanageable but I was absolutely AMAZED at the results! My hair is so, so soft and it was really easy to style. The colour is very subtle, and more of a soft glow than a dramatic colour change. I think it might be an even better result than when I got a (totally overpriced!) colour glaze at a salon. Previously I had used L'oreal Color Pulse to add condition to my hair but the colour range is totally crap (you get a choice of red, yellow or purple) . I'm stoked to find a product so incredible!!! I will use it forever

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews for the Color Glaze because I have had great luck with it. I have very dark brown, short hair that I do not color (despite the fact I'm 45 - my family is blessed with "don't go gray" genes), but often find my hair will look dull, especially over the winter months. I use the darkest color formula for this a couple of times a week. It gives me hair a nice texture and shine, I find it easy to apply and don't leave it on longer than the recommended 3 minutes (I just shave my legs during this time). I really think the key is to use is on a consistent (every other day or so) basis. I would like to try the new clear formula, but for winter, I prefer to give my natural color a little kick. I highly recommend it, but it clearly doesn't work for everyone.

i didn't think this was suppose to be a conditioner, i thought it was just for shine, and i also wanted to make my hair slighty lighter, and i just blow dried and straightened my hair. It look exactly and felt exactly the same. Its like putting watery goo on your hair, it kind of dies ur hands but only until u wash them off.

edit: changed my mind. product isn't worth it and doesn't really do anything. runs out fast. annoying to apply to hair. want shine? get Fekkai's Protein RX Conditioner and/or Fekkai's glossing cream with olive oil. both costly, but well worth it and will last you a long time. I also use Victoria's Secrets So Sexy for dry/damaged hair.

I like this product because it does what it says. It adds shine, tames frizz a bit, and lightens my highlighted parts of hair. I like it so much that I use it just twice a week so I won't run out of it too fast!
Edit: a couple weeks later...yes, it does make my hair a bit dry, but still shiny. But rather dry and stiff. My hair is already damaged from coloring it, and I'm looking for soft as well as shiny hair. Still, the shine that doesn't weigh down the hair sets this product apart.

I love this stuff.
I don't use it that often because I'm lazy (you have to leave it in for atleast 3 minute) but it really worked for me.
The first time I used it, it made my natural highlights instantly come out. My hair was also softer...
Sucks that it didn't work for some people, but I love it.

i can't believe so few users would buy again this glaze. i recently dyed my hair red. i had heard it fades quickly but said "whatever". well, in 2 weeks (2 shampoos) my hair was turning brown again. i saw this glaze and bought it without a lot of hope but it can not hurt, right? after the first use my hair was BRILLIANT RED again and i didn't even follow the instructions (you're supposed to use their shampoo and conditioner for red hair too) not only that. my hair is very frizzy (that's why i don't shampoo often) and i usually use at least 2 products to tame it. the next morning (i washed my hair before going to bed and put on the usual shine serum) i didn't have to use anything else! no curlers, no blower, no straightening iron, no anti frizz products. my hair was as red as the day i colored it and super soft! i had a big date and my hair looked perfect! how often that happens? i had to come here and tell everybody and was surprised by the low rating. i guess it works better for people with color treated or very frizzy hair (mine feels like hay the day i shampoo it no matter what i do). will keep on using it. it's a lifesaver.

My experience with this product has been so different than most of the reviews here. First off, I LOOOVE the smell! If it weren't for that, there would be no reason to use this stuff because it basically does nothing. I had no trouble with the screwtop bottle, and the product consistency wasn't runny at all - it was rather like a thin pudding.

The first time I used this, I put it on after shampooing and conditioning and left it for 5 minutes - with no noticeable results whatsoever. The second time I applied it on dry hair and left it for half an hour under a plastic cap. It appeared to add a little color, but I'm not sure about the shine. It certainly didn't seem to HURT anything.

I got this product at Big Lots for $4, so it wasn't a big deal. I probably wouldn't be too happy if I had paid much more than that for it. I used the darkest glaze - for Chestnut to Espresso hair color.

I hated this stuff! I was pretty exited when this was introduced here and couldnt wait to try it out...I thought I would look like I had just stepped out of a salon...sadly no. It left my hair feeling so, so dry and almost brittle which in turn meant that I had to go and put a deep conditioner on. A shame as I had high hopes for this product.

I have medium brown hair and bought the appropriate "shade" for it. It didn't do a thing for my hair. No added shine, no added change in manageability, nothing. The only thing it did change is the $$ in my pocket (less now) & that this product tarnishes the reputation of the John Frieda product line.

I bought this in the Radiant red for deeper red shades. My hair is medium length with layers, thick, naturally straight but tends to get frizzy and it's color treated. This product worked just fine for me. I admit that I can see why so many of the previous reviewers don't like it...your hair does feel coated even after you rinse it out. But for me that was just fine. I usually have to layer on like 3-4 different products just to tame my frizz but after using this product, I didn't have to put any additional stuff in my hair. It left my hair really soft, shiny, and frizz-free. Even 2 days later, my hair is still without frizz and I don't need to throw in any leave-in conditioners to tame it.

I also bought this for my mom to use in the Chestnut to expresso shade and she had really great results too. Her hair is usually a pouf-ball, lol and this made a HUGE difference. My mom also has a few gray hairs and after using the glaze twice, it covered most of them. Anyhow, I guess those with really frizzy out of control hair would benefit most from using this product.

If I could give this awful product a minus 5, I would. I have fine blond hair, but lots of it. I tried the Platinum to Champagne in the shower (lots of water to rinse the hair clean). Well, YUK! It was difficult to use (slippery and lots fell in the shower) and it smelled rancid. My hair blow-dried to a sticky gooey mess and I had to rewash it...maddening when you are in a bit of a hurry and have appied all your makeup. So, since it was SO bad, I figured I must have not rinsed long enough, or missed some crucial point. I tried it again two days later, rinsing for a long period of time, and the same thing...a horrendously sticky, greasy-feeling goo. My daughter then tried it on her coarser, blond hair and had the same problem. There is something seriously wrong with either the product or the batch I bought. My advice is to avoid it like the plague. It's expensive, and it doesn't work.

This doesn't really do what it's supposed to do. I use the blode one. I have light brown tinted hair with highlights. The first time I used it I left it on TOO long and it left my hair thick and sticky. Well, I gave it another try, this time only left it 2-3 minutes like you're supposed to, and made sure to rinse very very well. My hair dried silky. But as far as enhancing the color or adding shine, there has been no difference, and I have been using this on my hair for 1 1/2 weeks. I think that's enough time to show a difference. But then that may be because I started using it before I let my hair become dull. I do agree with one previous reviewer who suggested to go to sally's. I used one of their products- i forgot the name but it came in a purple bottle and it was like 6 dollars- and it brightened my-- then lighter--shade of blonde really really good. Skip the John Frieda products...I also use the sheer blonde shampoo and conditioner and they don't make a difference either. I'm just waiting to finish the product to go to something else.

Crap, absolute crap. I've tried both the red and brown shades of this with the same result: dry stringy tangled hair without noticing any difference in the color or shine. Actually, I'm pretty sure I ended up with LESS shine than when I started, and that's saying a lot based on my colored/highlighted hair. The bottle sucks (unscrewing a top in the shower is always a pain). It's also runny as hell and hard to apply, seeing as most slips away before you can get enough on your head. Forget about this stuff and instead, run down to Sally's and grab some Ardell Lights and Brights. It works much better than this and is a lot cheaper.

Well, I can see I'm not the only one who didnt like this! It really is a big disappointment. The "glaze" is a runny, stinky liquid that does absolutely nothing good for your hair. I purchased it in the blonde formula, and paid $10. The bottom line is that this product produces poor results and is not worth trying - believe me! I hope they take this off the market because it is so misleading. In addition, this did not add any shine or luminosity to my hair. It actually made my hair very dry and scented it with an unpleasant chemical odor. Overall horrible product.
