After using Bare Minerals for over 4 years with no complaints, I am sad to say that I will never use it again. My flawless skin has been mysteriously breaking out for the past 5 months. At first, I thought it was an allergy or some kind of detox, but then I noticed that every time I would wear Bare Minerals, I would break out the next day. The breakouts slowly developed into cystic acne on my cheeks and chin.
I stopped using Bare Minerals last month and the acne went away, completely. Then I decided to put it on yesterday to test it again. BIG MISTAKE. I washed my face before bed as usual and I woke up this morning with the worst skin - acne on my cheeks, forehead and chin. I'm using tea tree oil, a special acid cleanser and three topical creams to get my skin back to it's original state.
Bare Minerals will definitely destroy your skin.

I am a licensed medical aesthetician, and have been working for a dermatology/acne clinic for 4 years. Part of my job is to research cosmetics and their ingredients and determine quality products. This product is AWFUL. I understand the mineral makeup craze and really think it is a great idea on paper, and I do believe the ingredients in this foundation to be o.k. for acne prone skin. HOWEVER, for people like me that like to look natural and not have their makeup look like it was put on with a spatula I would not recommend this product. It makes your skin look like it is glowing, and not in a good glowing way but in an irredescant shiny bad bad way. By the end of the day this will be melting off, and I mean only after 6 hours. It is extremely unnatural looking. I am going back to prescriptives Traceless and their all skins loose powder is amazing. Hope my review helps!

I bought this after seeing it on TV and hearing so many good things about it. I liked it because it seemed natural, and I liked the idea of having the "no makeup" look, because I hate foundation. I also look for things that won't make me break out. I thought this would be a good way to even out my skin when I needed to. I bought it in Sephora in Light, with the Mineral Veil. I applied it as directed over Olay daily moisturizer, and I was surprised at how bad it looked. It looked like I had put shiny iridescent powder all over my face. It didn't look natural at all, nor did it look attractive. It didn't even out my skin, either. I do have oily spots, and this powder made my entire face glow in the bad way. I didn't like it at all. I was upset because I paid a good amount of money for it. I actually prefer the L'Oreal mineral powder, although it's not 100% minerals, it gived a much better coverage with no weird shine.

I got this in the starter kit.
During the first week, I loved it because it was simple, it covered decently and made my skin glow.
Unfortunately, I noticed in photos that my face looked a lot lighter than the rest of me.. but in person, i was fine.. from natural light and all. I have since blamed this on the SPF factor in the minerals.
The packaging was difficult when I was travelling because i found the powder to spill into the cap and when i opened it to apply makeup, powder was everywhere.
Since then, I've pretty much given up on mineral makeup. I'll stick to the tried & true.

I like Bare Minerals enough to repurchase the product, but I admit it took me several attempts over a few months to get the hang of it. At first, I felt it showed every wrinkle and pore with minimal coverage for redness. I'm used to either Prescriptives or Estee Lauder Futurist and always liked a medium to full coverage. I decided to give Bare Minerals another shot this summer when I need less coverage and have a bit of a tan. I have loved it all summer! It took a lighter touch for me with the Kabuki brush, but also I do far less tapping than what the Sephora clerk and TV informercials show. I tap it once or so and blot it blot it into the back of my hand once and start the application. I do a couple sprinklings into the cap. I'm using the medium. I originally ordered the light/fair, but it was waaay too light. Color selection is not that great, but overall, for the summer when I want a lighter touch, it's working out well. I'll probably switch back to my liquid foundation by November.

I've really tried hard to like this product. It looks great when it goes on, but turns into an oil slick in no time. After about two hours my skin looks middle-aged, crepey, and a bit dirty. Too bad.

I have used this for about a year, and im finally starting to miss liquid foundation. when i first put it on i look great - if it looked like it did right after i finish my makeup every morning i would LOVE IT! but trust me, you will be surprised to find that at the end of the day it is not there. yes i use primer/moisturizer and mineral veil. the foundation is alone is light coverage so i always need the BE concealer - bisque. but the color (bisque) is sooo pink. im scared to go back to liquid foundation after sooo long with BE - i dont want to waste any money! any tips please let me know!

I was really excited to get this because I'd seen so much about it and my skin was being particularly rebellious, so I splurged on the starter kit. Basically when I'm not beet red, I'm milkmaid pale so I used the lightest color in the kit.
Alas, that dreaded 'line of demarcation' they go on and on about was very much there and it turned orange. I've never had makeup turn orange on me before so that was definitely new. And it didn't control oil very well at all. I wasn't a huge fan of the brushes either; the kabuki brush smelled weird to me, as odd as that sounds. I've seen this work for other ladies, so I'm sure it's simply a matter of certain products working with certain faces.

This isn't quite the "magical" product they make it out to be, but it works well. It's very easy to apply evenly, which is nice when you're still half asleep in the morning! It's definitely sheer, though, so I don't find it does much for under eye circles. A jar lasts a long time, but due to the price I think I'll try the L'Oreal brand when this runs out.

it doesn't give me the flawless face that they AD for...and probably for most of powder foundation, it makes a big mess... their swirl-tap makes powder everywhere...

A word of warning to those with skin allergies, especially metals. I've used BE on and off for quite a while. Not really wowed by it but it was OK for the summer (quick and easy). One day while out of town, I didn't have my normal moisterizer so I used something with a minute bit of alpha hydroxy in it, Brushed on my BE, looked good but within an hour my face started to burn and after I washed it all off, my skin looked like I had 3rd degree burns, especially on the right side of my face (probably where I apply more moisturizer and BE than my left side). My face was not only inflamed but very swollen for a week!!! Since then, it took me a while to try BE again, but I have, with success but using my regular moisturizer. I still think that Everyday is a better buy and quality powder for my skin, especially the Original Glo...... Update ---- for summer easiness I've discovered Estee Lauder Double Wear for application with a brush over my sun block -- nice results!

This is my HG foundation and I'm very happy to find mine. This product looks so natural and contrary to what other people said it actually covers well. You just need to get used to it and to maximize the use of your brushes (esp. the max coverage concealer brush). I travel with mine since I bouhgt the travel box which actually is very handy, by the way. This product stays on my face for the whole day and it is not causing my acne-prone skin to breakout. Actually, since I started using this product I get less and less outbreaks. As of now, I only get about 2-3 pimples a month. Another thing I love about bare minerals foundation is that they looks so natural on my skin and it does not look like I'm wearing a heavy mask. I loooooveee the light weight feeling on my skin. The only con would be that it's quite expensive for some. But trust me, a little goes a very loooong way.. Another is that it can be messy sometimes. Overall, I will give it a 5!!! I won't use another foundation in my skin every again..!!

It is packaged like a loose powder, quite messy to use even with a brush. One good thing is that it melts right into the skin. My skin looks great right after application, very smooth looking. This is like the smoothest powder that I've used! It is ok for covering some blemishes, but not huge ones. I would still use a concealer on top. However, after 2 days of using this, my face broke out with a few big, red, painful pimples. I had to stop using it, and the pimples resolved. No more breakouts so far after that...
So this may be good for people without much acne, and I guess not for people with sensitive skin. Also, it's quite difficult to remove. Needed a makeup remover oil for getting this off!

I tried this since I wanted something that didn't feel heavy on my skin as I usually don't wear foundation and I liked that there were no preservatives in it. It actually caused me to break out and not to mention how messy and inconvenient it is. The powder gets everywhere and if you travel a lot like me, it's not travel friendly at all! If the jar is tipped over all the powder sits on the top of the sifter and you aren't able to get the small amount of product that you actually need on the brush. I bought the intro kit and all I use from this are the brushes that came with it. Also, it felt like it was just sitting on my skin. I guess if you don't mind the mess it could be average. There are so many better products out there for the same price in my opinion.

Ok, so i give this product a thumbs up for being "pure" and "natural" and everything but it doesn't give good coverage at all!!!!You kinda have to get used to how you use it, too much can make u look splotchy, and too little looks like you have nothing at all on. If your skin is already clear and flawless, then this is the foundation for you. If you have breakouts and uneven skin tone, and need coverage, this just seems to accentuate the problem areas, and doesn't give any coverage. I wouldn't really recommend this product, it's ok, very disappointed. you might as well use a regular face powder as your foundation cause you get the same look....

I love this foundation, because I tend to get super oily when it comes to liquid foundations. However, it tends to set on my skin and look blotchy, so don't apply too much. Use the concealer brush wisely, and you'll be fine. And again, LESS IS MORE when it comes to Bare Escentuals!

I hated this product so much it actually compelled me to register for Make-up Alley so I could leave this feedback. I am 36yrs old have norm/dry skin which is quite fair with pink undertones. I have been using the Jane Iredale Amazing Base in Bisque which I really love but just fancied a change like you do. Anyway, I bought the Bare Minerals foundation in the Light shade (#2). The beautician who colour matched me thought this was the best shade for me. How wrong she was! Firstly let me start by saying the colour selection is non-existant. Fair was too light, Fairly Light and Light are for yellow undertoned skins which I'm not and the Medium, Medium Beige were way too dark. The beautcian tried the Fairly Light on me first but this was no good. She then tried the Light on me and thought this was the best color for me. In my opinion it looked way too yellow but I trusted her judgement and bought the Light (#2). Well, when I got outside into the natural light I looked disgusting - very yellow/orange. The texture of the Bare Minerals powder seems a lot thicker/heavier than the Jane Iredale Amazing Base which was also something else I didn't like about the Bare Minerals. Anyway, I was so disappointed I took the Bare Minerals back to my beautician and got my NZ$70 back. If you are interested in Mineral Make-up I highly recommend you check out the Jane Iredale Range. Her colour selection is absolutely fantastic and it's by far a much better quality product. I went back to my Jane Iredale supplier who has talked me into trying Jane's Liquid Minerals. I think I love this more than her Amazing Base. Anyway, I will leave some feedback on the Liquid Minerals once I have played with it some more. So to conclude this review I recommend you stay right away from Bare Minerals and try Jane Iredale you won't be disappointed.

I really have no idea what it is about this make-up that just makes my skin look absolutely horrible! I can honestly say before the application of this make-up my face is poreless (if that's a word) and once I put this on, EVERY single pore comes out! I usually only wear powder foundations because one, I have oily skin and second because I HATE liquid foundation. With my other powder foundations my skin looks flawless, airbrushed (everything this foundation is supposed to do). BE doesn't even do anything for my oily t-zone. I do like the BE blushes and all over face color but something is just off with the foundation because all of the imperfections on my face are accentuated with this. I gave it 2 lippies because it is natural and animal friendly, but I will not be purchasing this again.

This is the first MMU I have ever used and I can honestly say it did wonders for my complextion. Ever since I statred using their products my skin hasn't broke out once. It also gives me a nice even coverage with a subtle natural look. I'm also sometimes very gilty of sleeping in my make-up so it's very nice to know that if that occurs my face will not be a battle ground the next morning.

I love my bareMinerals makeup. It goes on flawlessly (with a kabuki of course), evens out my skin, lasts all day, and has made my face break out less. I can't imagine using anything else now!
