I have long fine hair so anything that weighs my hair down is a NO-NO-Nopety-NOPE. I've used at least 3-4 other smoothing fluids and they were much heavier, oilier, goopier, gunkier, lunkier (just let me use all the -er words) looking than Aveda's.

This smooths and glistens my hair, but has the remarkable ability to feel dry and unoily once I apply it. Even feels dry on my fingers after distributing it. A very very subtle lavender citrus scent that I only smell when I squirt it on my hands, I don't think it has much fragrance in my hair after a minute.

This is quite nice. I only use one squirt. More than that and you will get the typical greasy look from these types of serums. DIRT-AY! I'll be using the same bottle for the next ump-teen years, so even though I took a mark off for price (went on a SPASTIC shopping spree during a weekend getaway in Chi-town), I probably won't have to spend more money on this for a loong time.

Oh, one more thing...aside from the cyclomethicone and dimethicone that is always expected in this type of serum, Aveda's is also jam packed with goodie oils for your hair. Like Jojoba, Rice Oil, Rosemary, Lavender Oil, etc. Some for fragrance no doubt, but some are outstanding additions to moisturize your hair.

I rotate through hair serums, I have 3. This one is great as a little goes a long way. It really does work, I use it AFTER blowdrying my hair.

I have a lot of hair, but it is very fine. I usually cannot use silicone products at all, but this has changed all that! I cannot use it before blow-drying, as it made my hair too fly-away, but one pump smoothed through my hair after styling gives it weightless smooth shine! Hair is not weighed down, and feels silky as a child's..

ingredients: cyclomethicone, dimenthicone, dimethiconol, phenyl trimethicone, dimenthicone crosspolymer, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, tocopherol, glycine soja (soybean) oil, fragrance, citrus medica limonum (lemon) peel oil, citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, cananga odorata (ylang ylang) oil, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) oil, citrus aurangium bergamina (bergamot) fruit oil, origanum majorana leaf oil, lavendual angustifolia (lavendar) oil

Unlike John Frieda frizz ease, which has similar concept, this sillicone-based serum actually works. I take one small pump, and go over my hair to finish the style. Instant shine! This is a great finishing serum.

I recently started using this as a heat protectant before flat ironing. THE BEST! It protects my hair against damage, and makes my hair super shiny and smooth!

Lovely! I have never seen something with a bunch of oils in it that doesn't make my hair look greasy! Someone at work even noticed how much smoother it looks with this! I probably have to use more than most people because I have really thick hair. I put a lot on the ends and underneath, and put what's left on the top. Voila! Smooth and shiny! However, I think my Fantasia Hair Polisher Daily Hair Treatment with "Sparkle Lites" does just as good of a job and is much cheaper.

Wow, thank god I found this... I am trying to grow out my hair which is at the "heavy bob with bangs stage" now. This product made my thirsy, blonde, corse, bad haircut look healthy, glossy, and conditioned, without weighing it down. It eaven made my ends look good, and brought out my highlights. It has a nice lavender scent upon application which dissappears quickly.
The packaging is awesome. Small enough to fit in my purse for an after work touch up, with a clean, easy to use pump. The only bad thing about this product the outragously high price. At $23, although I love it, I will look for something else comperable and more affordable. I'll tell you guys when and if I find it :0)

I have straight, thick, and normal hair. My stylist recommended Light Elements as a way to tame flyaways. I like, not love it. First be sure to use only 2 or 3 pumps because a little goes a long way. Make sure to start underneath your hair so there is only a little left on your hand by the time you get to the front of your head. If not you will have a greasy mess. One bottle lasts forever and it smells good but I don't think I'll buy it again.

perfect, i love all aveda light elements series products! heh. i use this the same way as i use the light elements finishing solution, work the same for my case, so i'll stick with the finishing solution. better for my money. but none the less, i love this too. =]. excellent stuff and it's reasonable price to me. not at all expensive.

I've been using this product for about two weeks now - after my stylist used it and I loved the results. This is definitely a step above the other Aveda products I've tried (Self Control) as far as performance. It handles my flyaways and still gives me movement without weight. It's a bit pricey, but it is working better than other silicone products in other lines I've tried.

Finally the HG of hair products for me!! I have very thin, fine colored hair and loved the aveda anti-humectant but always much to thick and greasy - this not greasy and so very light as the name suggests!! I use it when my hair is dry and right before I flat-iron it - leaves it soft and shiny - but not greasy or oily!! And the next day still looks the same (As with other aveda products very greasy!) Also it smells fabulous!! Highly recommend to those with thin hair!! Try it you'll love it! A tiny bit goes a long way so well worth the 20+ price tag!!

Wow. I had my haircut today. The stylist used this on my hair. I loved the feel of it immediately. Since the product isn't thick it spread all over my wet ends nicely. I don't use any heated appliances on my hair so it all dried into a soft and boucy

I am a big fan of this new line from Aveda. It smells fresh and clean with lavender as the main scent. However it is not overpowering and does not drown out any scent you might like to wear. This fluid makes my hear smooth and shiny, i also work it into my towel dried hair then blow dry and then use my ceramic iron, it does not weigh my hair down and it stays straight all day. Very high quality product, a little goes a long way.

Another great product from Aveda! Smoothing Fluid is a serum-style product, but I find it much lighter than most serums I've used. I pump the bottle twice into my hand (this gives a small amount of product) for my just below shoulder-length hair and apply it to towel dried hair. I comb through and blowdry with a bristles brush for smooth, sleek hair, that isn't weighed down, and had plenty of shine. I usually wash my hair every second day, and I find that this product keeps my hair nice and sleek, without making it look greasy. I've been using this every time I wash my hair for about 3 months now, and the bottle is still about 80% full, so I think this is more than worth the price. I don't think I've tried this on dry hair yet, but as it isn't a heavy serum, I think it would work quite well, as long as it wasn't applied to the roots.
