I have combination skin with eczema and I am a sucker for Neutrogena products. This product is good for how much you pay for it. I've used it on and off for 3 years since it is gentle on the skin though, but when I used it I still had an oily T-zone and broke out occassionally. So overall its an OK product.

I was recommended this by my doctor for acne and it doesn't do a thing. I don't see a difference at all, used half the bottle and nothing. It will be in the trash...Will not buy again.

I love this cleanser. I have combination oily skin and I usually wash with the gel cleanser when I feel my face is more oily. This one I use when my face is a bit dry due to weather changes, particularly the harsh winter. A good oil-free moisturizer afterwards and you are good to go!

I love Neutrogena moisturizers and body lotions, but have never had luck with their cleansers. Each time, I am convinced that I've tried their worst product ever. This IS the worst! I have tiny white bumps all over my red, irritated face. Also, this product did not get near my eyes, but my eyelids are puffy.
Back to Shiseido.

This product erased all my makeup and made my face feel so clean afterwards! I loved the foam one..and I love this one too. I wouldn't recommend this for people with dry skin though, it did feel dry afterwards. But nonetheless, I love this stuff

I bought this hoping that it would help prevent breakouts; when I started using it my skin was smooth and I did not have a single pimple, I used it for three days and already I have 3 odd looking bumps that look like irritation - I suggest to stay away from it- i returned it to the drugstore :)

I tried the cream, gel, and foam versions of this product and all of them are HORRIBLE! I agree with the others, definetly not for sensitive skin. I have sensitive combo/oily skin, and this irritated it SO much! The skin around my nose was red, raw, and peeling. BHA is not for everyone. I also thought it would be alright for my sensitive skin since Neutrogena boasts about it's 'special skin soothers that prevent irritation and overdrying'. HA! This product is HARSH! All Neutrogena products are!

I keep crawling back =P I keep wanting to try new ones because I'd figure, my face hasn't broken out much for a while so maybe I'm just past the acne age! (I'm 18). But every time I do that and switch up, I break out! No matter what, this always clears out my face the most. I've tried Clearasil, H2O (the Mousse), St Ives, Oil of Olay, etc.. But like I said, I keep crawling back to this one.
UPDATE: No, I wasn't past the acne age. I was on birth control pills and realized that's what mostly kept my skin in line. Neutrogena doesn't cut it for me now that I'm off the pills. I've only been off for 1+ year now (it's currently Feb 2009), so still trying to find something that can keep my acne at bay that's also not packed with chemicals and is cruelty free. Neostrata worked very well but is so full of chemicals and smells like chemicals. Currently trying out Origins - still little pimples since it's a lot gentler, but hopefully in time, my skin can get used to it. Also waiting for Queen Helene to be shipped to me, so will try that when I'm finished with Origins.

I love this cleanser. It's definitely not for people with very sensitive or dry skin. It is quite strong, but I have combination skin that tends to break out, which happens if I use anything less strong. After I wash and dry my face, it feels pretty dry. Then instead of facial moisturizer I apply a stronger lotion, Curel fragrance free. It's a strange combination but it works perfectly! Good bottle to travel with too.

this creamy cleanser doesn't really lather, and most of it ended up in the bottom of my shower instead of on my face. after using this product for about 3 months, it did little for my acne prone skin, but on the plus side, it didn't leave me feeling dry.

This is my HG face wash. I used to use the regular orange acne wash but found it too drying. This is just right. I love the creamy texture and it helps to prevent pimples.

I love this cleanser! It has a mildly chemical smell but it defenitely helps the appearance of pimples. I love the tingly (not burning) feeling after I use it and I don't need to use a moisturiser after!!

I've been using this product for 7 years now. I first bought it when I was 16 after trying just about every cleanser out there to help my extremely oily and acne-prone skin. I stuck with it because it didn't irritate my skin and seemed to be the best that I have tried. 8 years later, I still have acne (mild now, but prob. mostly due to ageing). I think it's time for a new cleanser!
Bottom line: it didn't irritate my skin/make my breakouts worse, is cheap and easily available, but it did not improve my skin texture/acne very much!

I use this b/c it's the only Neutrogena cleanser that has SA and no artificial colors. Some of those red pigments can actually make acne worse! This cleanser doesn't dry out my skin like their other cleansers (probably due to sodium chloride). I wouldn't say it decreased acne all by itself. I'm also test-driving Philosophy Hope in a Bottle (2% BHA). But I'm sure it's been doing it's job as an exfoliating wash. I use this on my back and chest as well. These areas, like my face, purged for a couple weeks, and now things are shrinking away.
Paying 5.99 for a 6.7 oz. tube is okay if the product works for you. It comes out of the tube creamy and white; it does foam up, but not as much as soap, and I don't care. Foam doesn't mean something cleans better. I would give it 5 lipsticks, but it does contain fragrance, which I don't mind and it doesn't bother my skin, but I think it would be "better for you" without fragrance.
UPDATE: November21,2003: Never mind. Neutrogena does suck. I didn't want to believe it. It dehydrated my skin, and made my back break out a bit. Suspecting it's contributing to the continuation of facial acne, too. I'm sticking with good ol' Dove soap. Seems that those who believe BHA's in cleansers aren't on your skin long enough to work--these people are right.

This cleanser was creamy and at first it felt like it didn't lather enough, like it was just sitting on my face but I ended up liking it. Most of my zits have cleared up but I still think I need something stronger (I have a very oily T-zone) The smell is not overpowering and I liked the squeeze tube as compared to their Oil Free Acne Wash that was in a pump dispenser, not good for traveling. Another plus is you only have to use a little bit to wash your face, like a dime size drop. Overall pretty good but I'm still looking for my HG...

this cream cleanser isn't creamy at all, it's more of a gel/cream cleanser, does not foam is not creamy..it really irritated my skin after a few washes and it didn't remove all my makeup, there are traces of foundation and mascara on my face. will not be re-purchasing.

the best thing about this product is the creamy texture. it feels really nice smoothing it on the skin. the problem is, the neutrogena acne wash cream cleanser doesn't rinse clean. it leaves a filmy residue. so it gets 2 lippies for the nice texture...and that's it.

Hey! I've tried a lot of different face cleansers, but this one has worked the best for me!! I definitely suggest trying this! It cleans it well, but doesn't dry out your face as much as some others may!
