i love this color. i just bought it today and tried it over lip balm. the color is very nice. im on a red lipstick binge right now and have tried dior, chanel, and guerlain, and i think this is my new favorite. im still thinking about checking nars out for a nice lip liner for this particular shade. hope this helps!

Enough said. Best red I've ever tried. The perfect shade. You'd think all reds with similar hues (dark, medium, bright) are the same, but when you look closer, you'll really see the difference! although a bit drying, lip balm could do the trick. staying power is more than i could possibly ask for!

My Holy Grail red. The colour is gorgeous on me (pale Asian, neutral skin tone, currently dark fuschia hair). I pair this with Brick lipliner and use #316 lip brush to apply, and it feels ever bit as gorgeous as it looks. My boyfriend has no complaints, either; unlike a lot of other cream lipsticks I've used, it barely leaves a smudge on him. I love this lipstick so much that I'm considering making it my trademark (which is saying a lot, since I'm normally so mercurial that I rarely keep the same hair colour longer than a month).

Update: Dubonnet dries my lips out. A lot. I have to layer on the lip balm before applying, and even then, it's still a bit drying.

I went to the MAC counter to swap my emptied eyeshadow pots for a few new lipsticks (hooray!), and I wanted a deep, sexy, wearable red. (I have Russian Red and love it but never feel I can wear it out of the house!) I think I found my red lipstick HG in Dubonnet. I'm fair with blue eyes, and the color is dramatic and deep - NOTHING like the fuchsia-ish swatch on the Web site, by the way (but we all knew that). It is so pretty. I also love the texture of the amplified creams in general - it goes on smooth and opaque, and even though I wore it during a sweaty bike ride, with no liner or base, it didn't feather. I love that the finish is almost matte, but better: creamy without being shimmery or glossy. It may not be a casual/daylight kind of red, but I think it's gorgeous - highly recommended! EDIT: I knocked off a lippie because I've had some feathering, even with liner underneath. Need to figure out how to control that because it's such a gorgeous color and I get tons of compliments when I wear it! EDIT AGAIN: MAC Prep+Prime Lip plus Brick lipliner = red lips all day, no feathering! God I love this color.

My second favorite red lipstick, first has to be Viva Glam I, basically the same color, but with a soft and comfortable cream finish. This feathers more, so I use it with an outliner to avoid feathering. Classic and classy!

My HG red lipstick. Ultra glam on my NC35 skin tone. Luscious, opulent - and especially so with the Gitana lipglass (sadly a Limited Ed) over it for that extra oomph!

As everyone probably knows, a good red lipstick is hard to find. This one pretty much does the trick though. Doesn't feel too bright and garish when it's on but it doesn't look to dark either. Very pretty with a little bit of black eyeline and lots of black mascara!

The color is amazing in the tube-- a beautiful 'black cherry' red that looks absolutely incredible on when paired with porcelain skin. But for some reason, on my lips, it looks much brighter and lighter... the color is still pretty, but not what I wanted it to be. I must have really pigmented lips or something. *sigh*

However, on other ladies, this color is stunning... a unique, VERY dark, deep black cherry with a hint of wine.

A fab red! I tried this on my hand and I did not care for it, to brick-ey. A MAC SA made me try it on my lips as a favor, and I loved it! For some reason it is not brick-ey on my lips, It is that perfect vampy, more towards the evening Red. More beautiful applied with the clear lip glass, and for a red with a warm glow, wear Lure-x gloss over it, I got Lure-x to go with Dubonnet! PS it goes on sort of heavily, but not to bad, for day, 2 dabs per lip is good! I hope this never goes away, I will restock if it does.

The best word that I can think of to describe this color is 'vampy'. On me it’s a cool toned deep red. Have I mentioned that I’m a sucker for red lipstick? I wear it over Brick lipliner when I want a noticeable, but not bright red lip. It gets compliments every time. I don’t find this color as drying as other Amplified Cremes for some reason. Interesting little tidbit; this was the color used on Gwen Stefani as Jean Harlow in Aviator.

I love this lipstick! I got it today for free because of the Back 2 MAC program. Anyhow, if you're anything like me, you'd know how difficult it is to find a red lipstick. Most red lipsticks either make me look like I'm a vampire, or my skin all sallow, yellow, and just sick. So imagine my surprise when I saw that this worked for me. I'm Asian with NC20 skin.

Oh the red lipsticks gods (or goddesses, more appropriately!) have finally answered my prayers and sent forth thee Dubonnet! After my semi-disappointing run in with Russian Red, I was apprehensive about treading in red lipstick territory ever again. But my CCO had Dubonnet for $10 and I recalled that I had rather liked it when I had tried it on at the counter. Well, memory did serve me right for once and Dubonnet is a dream come true for me! I’m a medium olive-toned Asian and this shows up just perrrrrfectly on me! No pink undertones at all and the slight possible orangeness of the lipstick doesn’t seem to manifest upon my lips. This lipstick also has rather great staying power when applied with a brush, but does demand touch-ups after drinking or talking excessively. Paler ladies may be wary of this shade because I can imagine it may evoke images of vampires and gothic cathedrals when applied to the lips. But for me - I’ve finally seen the light and it’s red and glorious! <3

Dubonnet was recommended to me by a MA as being the perfect red for my colouring. It is a deep brown-red, which I feel is way too dark and pigmented for me. The formula has now changed from Cream to Amplified, which I really like, but I wouldn't repurchase this colour as I don't feel confident wearing it. Me: N1/NC15, blue eyes, blonde hair.

I second a review I read. Very "Hollywood Red." I love this for it's non-shimmer, non-shine. I was looking for just red with no extra's and this is it. Great with my olive skin tone.

Beautiful brown-based red, but too dark for my colouring (cool ppp, light brown, green eyes). Made my lips look smaller. I exchanged it for another shade.

I LOVE this lipstick. Went to the MAC store for a classic Hollywood red and this is what I bought. The colour is a lush red with a hint of brown, just enough to keep it from being too bright. Cool based, but not turning pink on me (cool toned PPP) for a change. Texture is creamy and moisturizing (Amplified), although I detracted a lippe because I wish those Amplifieds stayed put a little better didn't stain glasses and boyfriends quite as bad. ;)
This looks great with the classic neutral eye and dark liquid eye liner.
Will definitely repurchase if I run out, that's my HG red l/s.

This color was really pretty in the tube, but seemed to morph into a completely different shade on my lips. I also thought it was rather drying when compared to their other Cream lipsticks.
