I was also reminded of air freshener. Powerfully fruity, very diffusive. Thick, tangy peach dominates the floral notes. Seems artificially "fresh." Lasts over a day on me.

I first sprayed this in a duty free shop en route home from holidays, it was a very very warm day and I found the scent refreshing. My husband subsequently bought me a bottle, which is unusual in itself so I feel I must give it a fair chance, I acknowledge the comments of the other reviewers but it is very nice on hot day - very refreshing and not as cloying as say some of the escada fragrances can be! I will persist with this one. UPDATE
read all the other reviews and wondered whether there was something up with my nose but I still love this fragrance. It lasts for ages and lingers in which ever room I happen to spray it. I checked out D&G light blue and I could not make a comparison, such a lightweight and too lemony for me.

Treacle and hollow; aspartame dessert sauce.
Maybe if the fruits were more tart, this neurotically clean watery peony drizzle would be more tolerable. The comparison others have noted to D&G Light Blue is apt, except I find D&G's fresh transparency less pedestrian. Although I don't pick up on the musks that Jiff notes, I find her review hits it on the head:
"Sadly, Éclat D'Arpege turned out to be a rather generic fruity floral with a cloying accord of expansive syrupy, musky sweetness shared by the likes of Fiorucci."

On my skin perfumes with cedarwood, light fruit and lilac notes always smell nice on me. Especially during the summer. The middle notes of peony & cedar with just the faintest dab of melon were beautiful. The down side is Eclat drys down and goes away quickly (course this could be that I am cold at the moment !)I will use up my deluxe sample & I think I will repurchase if I use all of this before the end of summer. Lovely.I have D&G's Light Blue & this is a much nicer composition. This isn't as sweet and has a much nicer floral bouquet.UPDATE: I have found for these warmer days that Light Blue is much more complex than the Eclat, so I have my sample on my swap list!

I just received a sample through Sephora and man, what a waste of a good Sephora sample that was! The fruity notes are weak, and none are predominant enough, and there's a background note of a cheap cedar wood like from grandma's closet, and mixed w/ the so- called fruit smell, Seems like there's a rotten banana and some rotten apples in granny's closet. Yuck. I can't believe people could actually pay money to smell like this.

I rec'd a sample of this in a Sephora order. I have tried it very lightly on one wrist once, and I had a terrible headache the rest of the day. As others have said, it is a very cloying, generic scent, and does remind me of several dept. store perfumes. Those who get migraines easily from perfumes might want to proceed with caution when sampling this one.

Wow! The initial blast of Eclat was truly to die for & seemed almost truly magical... I almost rushed out to buy it--but--15 minutes later, I m sniffing my wrists & it turned into this really GLADE like spray freshener scent just like what one reviewer pointed out below.

Surprisingly pretty, and enough of a different fruity-floral for me to buy. Lanvin did a great job of combining the wisteria and lilac notes with fruit, but just enough - not turning it into a cloying mess. A bright and happy scent.

Thanks to the lovely mreenymo, I got a huge sample of this. I am a lilac (and wisteria) lover too and was disappointed that the lilac was drowned in a can of syrupy peaches. I guess my nose doesn't think that lilac and fruit go together.
However, I found this a generally pleasant, inoffensive scent with a little sparkle to it. The drydown on me is very fruity...and faintly reminiscent of AG Petite Cherie, Floret and Maybe Baby, probably because of the peaches, but with a little more of a wood base.
But can I say...adorable packaging, and I, too, love anything purple! I'm not sure I would plunk money down for this, but would love smelling it on others.

Although I deeply admire and respect my fellow MUA sisters, jjff and victoriaf, I must disagree with their assessment of Eclat. Okay, so it's not the most original formulation ever created. And, yes, it does smell vaguely familiar--did I hear D&G Light Blue? But there is something about this fragrance that just "clicks" for me. Could it be it's sweet freshness? The green lilac and wisteria notes over a musky, almost spicy, base? Or is it that the bottle and the violet "juice" are absolutely stunning? (I admit that purple has always been my favorite color!) Maybe it's just a combination of all of these things that has driven me to write this adamant, yet loving, dissent in Eclat's defense.

I just got it myself recently based on great reviews from another fragrance review site. What a disappointment. Didn't impress me much. VERY similar to Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue, except with more lilac notes. If you like fresh, citrusy lilac scents, it's for you.

I'm not really good at describing fragrances, so I'll just say it's fruity and fresh and sweet at the same time, and my favourite fragrance at the moment! Love it!

I read the same Osmoz review that jjff saw, and was very curious about Eclat d'Arpege. I am something of a lilac junkie (love it almost as much as oakmoss/chypre notes), so I naturally wanted to sniff out a new lilac scent. When I saw this one in Saks, I didn't even bother with a testing strip; I simply sprayed it on my arm.
What a mistake! This scent reeked of sugary fake fruit and cheap-smelling chemicals. The bottle was nice, but the juice did not impress me one bit.

An eagerly anticipated 2002 release of Eclat D'Arpege by the makers of the popular Arpege and Oxygene failed to amaze and please. Swayed by the eloquently worded promise of lilac and peony, I rushed to purchase a bottle since samples were impossible to locate (at present, samples are occasionally available for purchase on eBay--a wise small investment if you are interested in this fragrance.) Sadly, Eclat D'Arpege turned out to be a rather generic fruity floral with a cloying accord of expansive syrupy, musky sweetness shared by the likes of Fiorucci and Feu D'Issey that makes me physically sick. Lilac, lemon and peony were impossible to pick out behind the domineering, blanketing sweetness akin to rotten fruit. I liked the presentation of the fragrance, but found the juice to be unwearable. For a second opinion, you might enjoy reading one of the always-enticing, always-mouthwatering, no-such-thing-as-a-bad-perfume entries from osmoz.com dedicated to Lanvin's latest.
"With this new floral fruity woody scent for women, Lanvin strikes a sensitive chord. Eclat is like a musical tone that awakens your emotions with its vibrations. Composed of wisteria, gentle musks, precious amber and cedar of Lebanon, this new creation is “a tie that binds”. In its round Art Deco-style bottle, Eclat d’Arpège re-enchants the house of Lanvin.
Delicate and luminous, Eclat d’Arpège’s top note is made up of green lilac and Sicilian lemon leaves. The heart is a blend of gentle wisteria blossom, airy green tea leaves, lush peach blossom, sensual red peony and mouthwatering Chinese osmanthus. The base’s white cedar of Lebanon, gentle musk and precious amber are like an enveloping caress.
Lanvin perpetuates their round, Art Deco bottle tradition. The “juice’s” lilac color lets the light filter through it, while the stopper that crowns the whole is itself topped with a white diamond and two metal wedding bands symbolizing the marriage of haute couture and perfume."
