This product has caused my left eye to become swollen and irritated. It's been a whole entire day and the swelling has still not gone down. It did clear some of my acne, but I don't want a swollen eye to go along with it. This went back to CVS.

This is the best face wash I've used, and I have tried many. It cleans off all makeup, but does not make my face feel dry. It rinses off completely. Large bottle, good price.

My Dr recommended this to me to help with my breakouts. Ive been using this for about 7 months now. This is now my HG face wash!! It also removes my makeup like a dream. This bottle last me about 2 months. It has helped my breakouts become minimal. Will continue to buy.

Update: I started mixing a dollop of this with a pump of Cerave's hydrating cleanser and voila--everything I want in a cleanser. The hydrating cleanser adds some softness to the foaming, diffusing it a tad but it's still there. Also combination reduces residue somehow so rinsing is cleaner. So I have to buy 2, so what, I can find anywhere and they don't break the bank. Leaving my marks at 4 since Cerave should have thought of combining for me.
I like but don't love this cleanser because it foams almost too much, doesn't completely clean my face of makeup(that has been loosened by oil), and leaves a residue on my face. Also may be slightly drying my normal skin with rosacea. It is non irritating, cheap and fragrance free. Also easy to find. I'm still waiting out a rosacea flare to be sure this is not causing breakouts for me, will update when I'm sure. Reminds me a lot of Olay's foaming facial wash with aloe.

Being a fan of the Cerave cream and PM face lotion, I thought that I would give this cleanser a try. For the past few years, Clean & Clear's Sensitive Skin Foaming Facial Cleanser has been my HG, but I think that I've found a replacement for it.
This cleanser is a simple, no-frills face-wash that foams quite well and cleans every trace of makeup - even waterproof mascara. There's no scent, stubborn residue, or weird skin reaction. I'm a mild acne sufferer with dry flaky skin from using Retin-A. Over time, I've found that the best cleansers suited for my skin are the really simple ones . . . and this one is perfect. I think that this is also a really great foaming cleanser to use with a Clarisonic.
And as far as price, I actually think that $11 is quite reasonable for 12 oz.

I've been a fan of Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser for a couple of years and I had been using it almost nightly. I say "almost nightly" because it did occasionally dry out my combinaton skin, but it left my face so clean and I just worked around it. One day I stumbled across a CeraVe coupon online, and since I was almost out of my Cetaphil and had read reviews on this site, thought I'd give it a try. First off, I don't expect cleansers to be a primary make up remover. I use separate removers for my eyes and face, and only expect cleansers to get my face clean, so I cannot comment on if this adequately removes make up. After about two months of use, I can say that this cleanser gets my face just as clean as Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser without drying out my skin. At first I didn't think it foamed all that much but just adding a little bit of water if you want more foam will do the trick. This also leaves my skin feeling really soft after use. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 lipsticks is the residue it seems to leave on my face. I always have to do a second rinse with cool water because just rinsing the cleanser off with warm water doesn't work for me. But I haven't met a cleanser yet that I don't have to rinse off twice, so I can't really hold it against CeraVe. Overall, fantastic buy. Will repurchase.

I had been wanting to try this for a long time before I actually did. It seems expensive for a drugstore cleanser but per ounce it's actually pretty comparable to others. It comes in a huge 12 ounce bottle with a pump. This is a clear silky gel that feels absolutely wonderful going on and foams just enough. I have am very oily and this cleanser leaves my skin soft and smooth without stripping it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 lippies is because I find traces of makeup left behind, even after double cleansing. Unfortunately for this reason I also put that I would not repurchase. I like as simple a routine as possible and I'm just not into using a separate makeup remover. But for those with sensitive skin or who wear light or no makeup, or just want a gentle cleanser for morning use I would definitely recommend this. It wasn't a perfect fit for me but that doesn't make it a bad product.

Huge size, dirt cheap for the amount you get and completely effective.
Okay, I should expand my review and actually explain why I like this product so much. For around $12, you get twelve ounces of cleanser, and you do not need that much to cleanse your face with. This cleanser could last months and months.
As far as the formula, it's superb. I have dry skin, and this foaming cleanser doesn't dry me out. It does, however, get my skin nice and clean. I've tried a ton of cleansers, and I find that I like cleansers in all price ranges, but this is the one that stays in my bathroom for when my skin needs a break from my constantly changing arsenal of skin care products.
I'd recommend this to anyone, but especially people with sensitive skin. I imagine it would work for anyone with dry skin all the way to anyone with oily skin.

I bought this a couple days ago after the hydrating cleanser started breaking me out. I have combination skin that ranges from kind of dry around the mouth to slightly oily on my forehead and this really, really dries me out. I'll continue to use if it doesn't make me break out because it removes mascara and eyeliner beautifully (although not eyeshadow?) and it seems to work alright with the CeraVe lotion. However, I now have to use two applications of that instead of just one.
Anyway, it would probably work great for someone with very oily skin. The large size and fantastic price are also nice...here's to hoping it doesn't break me out (and that maybe it works better in the summer)
Update-
So after around a month of use this stuff left me with dry, sensitive skin (even more so than usual) and some nasty cystic acne. Definitely going straight to the trash.

Love it! I had been using Neutrogena's foaming in the blue bottle for many years. The Neutogena left my skin feeling dry but I put up with it because I couldn't find anything better. I have since switched to CeraVe. It works just as well to remove makeup but doesn't leave my skin feeling dry like Neutrogena did. I love the big size. I use this version at night to remove my makeup. In the morning I use the CeraVe hydrating non-foaming version in the shower.

My new HG facial cleanser. I've loved Neutrogena Deep Clean, Lush Coal Face, and GlySal 5/2 cleanser in the past. My skin gets drier and more sensitive every year, so I decided to go for a cleanser with no actives and with claims to be non drying. I read a few reviews for this when it came out a while back, got my bottle, and I've been in bliss ever since. One pump work great to remove makeup and cleansing oil, wipes, or cold cream residue, and it foams up lightly. Works great with my Clarisonic. Since using this cleanser, I have no more problems with very dry, flaky, red skin around my mouth, nose and eyes. It is definitely a staple in my most recent skincare overhaul.

Great cleanser! It took off all of my makeup! All you need is a pump! However, it stings a bit if it gets into your eyes and it dries my eyelids for some reason! Nevertheless, I'd repurchase!

Similar to the Cerave PM lotion, this foaming cleanser is simple, no-nonsense, and effective. Just a dime-sized amount of product produces a soft, airy lather. There's no irritating or bothersome fragrance. I use a cleansing oil beforehand to remove heavy makeup, but I use the Cerave to remove light eye makeup (brow wax/powder, eyeshadow, mascara, liner). The pump is hygienic and convenient, but I do wish it came in a smaller bottle or tube to make it travel-friendly. This cleanser is geared toward normal-to-oily skin types, so it may be drying for some (as it is for me on windy, bitterly-cold days), but I love that squeaky-clean feeling. All in all, a basic, no-frills, simple cleanser that works! ;)

UPDATE:
I'm still really liking this. I purchased a second bottle to keep in the shower and started using it in the morning w/out a facial brush. I still have my cetaphil on hand, but turn to it less and less.
Unlike the hydrating cleanser, I really like this foaming cleanser. I was hesitant to buy it at first because I had already purchased the hydrating version and really disliked it (by the way, i have the hydrating cleanser up for swap if anyone's interested). The hydrating cleanser left me feeling less than clean, even in the morning when my face is already pretty clean. I don't have dry skin, I have oily combo, so I think the hydrating version just isn't right for me.
I finally caved and bought the foaming version, and have been using it in combination with my cetaphil anti-bacterial bar (don't think I'll ever be able to give this up permanently), first I cleanse with the cetaphil and then use this product with my pretika brush for two minutes. I've only been using this a little over a week, but so far I think it's been working really well. Unlike with the cetaphil, this makes my face feel extremely clean yet not stripped at all. The cetaphil literally makes my face squeaky clean after using the pretika, this does not, which is what I wanted. It has not caused any breakouts so far, no clogged pores either. I also love the packaging, pump cleansers are key, wish the rest of world would package their products similarly.
UPDATE: I'm still loving this. I bumped it up a lippie, as I think it's fab. It actually does take off makeup as well as my cetaphil bar (I have to do two thorough washes to get a full face of makeup off regardless of which type I use). It does a fabulous job of cleaning my oily skin w/out stripping it or leaving a slimy residue (this was my main issue w/ the hydrating cleanser). And the 12oz pump bottle is sanitary and will last forever.

Use this in the evening along with my oil of olay scrubber. This cleanser is pretty good b/c it doesn't dry out my skin yet still cleans!Doesn't break out my skin any worse and probably has helped clear it up (although I think I need rosacea med for bumps). Reminds me of a cetaphil but actually foams and cleans. Also, love the pump.

After I wet my face, I use it with my fingertips to remove the face makeup, including the eye make up, and it does a wonderful job. Then I rinse my face with warm water, then using just a little of this with my clarisonic brush on my face again as an exfoliation and cleansing. Love the result. It doesn't dry my face at all, and no irritation.

I really like this product. It takes all my makeup off (as evidenced by the relatively clean cotton ball when I use toner after). It doesn't strip any oils from my face. The cleanser I was using prior left big, dry scaly spots on the cheek next to my nose. Those have disappeared since I started using this. I love the pump dispenser, so easy to use in the shower. Seems to be a bit expensive for a drugstore product, but time will tell as to how long it will last.........it did come in a pretty big container.

head over heels in love with this cleanser. it is the third purchase i've made from the CeraVe brand and i couldn't be more thrilled with the amazing products they offer! after trying and loving the PM Lotion, then the Moisturizing Cream, i had to give this cleanser a shot. it comes in a giant pump bottle with a green label on it and is described as being suitable for normal to oily skin. my skin is sort of combination; normal on cheeks, slightly oily on the chin and average on the forehead. for the past few years i've developed a problem with closed comedones around my chin and so i've been using Tazorac which works great but definitely makes me prone to dryness in that area. before trying this Foaming Facial Cleanser i was using a cocktail of 3 different face washes to try to accomplish all the things i needed and it is lovely to be able to toss that routine for one simple step. after massaging MAC's Cleansing Oil into my skin to remove my foundation and then rinsing, i use the Foaming Facial Cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia and it works amazingly well, completely removing my makeup and leaving my skin very fresh and clean without any stripping and uncomfortable tight feeling after the shower. usually no matter what cleanser i use my skin feels tight after i dry off but with CeraVe it feels normal, comfortable, healthy. this product foams up nicely, cleanses my skin perfectly, rinses away cleanly leaving no residue behind and doesn't cause any irritation. you get a huge amount for the price, and a nice waterproof pump so it's easy to use in the shower. since switching to CeraVe products from my usual drugstore brands i have noticed a very positive improvement in my skin, and i couldn't be happier! i haven't been this thrilled with a brand for a long time and plan to continue using this cleanser indefinitely.

A love it! This is a mild, fragrance free gel that removes oil, makeup and sunscreens without stripping or drying my skin.
