I love this more than I thought I would, and the smell is fine, and fades quickly. Application is a little more forgiving than my coveted Revlon Colourstay (it doesnt dry so quickly that you cant play with it a bit) price is avg. for Clairins foundations, but I have noticed that the coverage is so good that I don’t need a lot anyway, so it is lasting longer than originally anticipated. I have very oily skin and the only thing I didn’t like was how it congealed (gross I know, sorry) with certain powders, even the Clairins one! By the end of the day i looked a mess. My favourite powder for my skin type over this foundation is the Rimmel Stay Matte (the new mineral one) I am not a massive fan of Rimmel, BUT this powder has been the only one I have been using for the last 10 months religiously, which I thought would NEVER happen. Overall this foundation is very nice, if you are concerned over the cost a little does go along way. I use shade 103 which is quite neutral, with very slight pink tones, but almost unnoticeable. 104 is defiantly on the warmer side though but again very neutral. This line has a better shade range than the other Clarins lines and I have tried them all. If their colour selections put you off before try this line and I am sure you will have better luck with a match. It is a pump bottle as well and the pump is decent, you can push it a little bit to get a little product, so no wasting etc.

Skin: Oily and blemish prone, large pores
Colour: 103/104 for winter (I mix to get my shade if I need a bit more warmth than what 103 gives me, but I have a shade between in EVERY foundation I have ever had including Mac) I haven’t tried any darker shades as I am not fake tanning yet.

Coverage: Can be built up where needed but go easy you don’t need to over do it with this foundation. I have used this with the Clarins primer and to be honest I actually like it without, I do use Origins Youthtopia Serum and Moisturiser (moisturiser only on dry areas) and that is very good for tightening my pores, so adding then another "primer" seemed to be overkill. If you have a different skincare regime you may prefer a primer, I am not sold completely on the Clarins one BUT it never broke me out, and it did make my pores slightly smaller.

Application: Daytime: I do a VERY thin layer with a brush, and then touch up with a sponge, then pat with my fingers (they must be warm) to buff it out, I know you can do this with a stippling brush but I prefer using my fingers with this foundation.

Night time: Sponge application for a bit more coverage overall, and then the same buffing process. I don’t use this around my eyes, so concealer is used there, I also touch up any blemishes with concealer. You can use the foundation as a concealer, but I just prefer to use a concealer instead.

If you do use the foundation over itself to cover blemishes it will not (I haven’t been able to get it to) pull it self apart and leave you with either a cakey area or the foundation pulled off completely. If you have used Colourstay you will know what I mean, that’s where the "forgiving" part comes in, and this can be layered if needed. A light dusting of powder and voila. I would not suggest using gel or cream blushes with this but you may have better luck with it than I did, it might be a skin thing, mine is fussy and requires extra attention, and you may get better results.

If you take your time with this is wont look cakey, (read: this is not meant for a 5 minute face) but practice, it took me a few goes (mainly to do with the powders I was using over it). It photographs beautifully (will post pictures later) and for my blemished and heavily scarred skin I really love this foundation.

I wanted to buy this product, based on reviews. I went to the shop twice to test it. It felt so light, matched my skin very well, but it had such melon like smell that put me off. If it did not have this smell, I would buy this product without thinking twice. I simply can't live with this smell even though I know that it does not stay all day long when the foundation does.

I'm changing my review because now I've been using this product for 3 weeks and it is horrible. my mid afternoon it is beyond dry and settles into fine lines. I look like I'm 45 years old when I wear this foundation. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. Worst foundation I've ever worn.

Oh how badly I wanted this to work. I went back to the store twice and I'm so dissapointed that I have to return the 3rd bottle I'm trying.
The color selection is not much of a selection. There are only 6 (here in Canada) and I couldnt find a good match. 110 looks like it could be a match but my bf told me I look too light, then I got the 112 and it has a pinky/reddish tone in it. I think the spf is compromising the color. It's NOT natural looking at all. There is a whitish cast, that sunscreen looking color. Not natural at all. However it does have GREAT staying power. If you find a natural looking match for your skin you are lucky because it is good stuff but too bad the colors suck.
I am excited to try the Bobbi Brown long-lasting spf 15 and hopefully it will work. I read the reviews and everyone says it's very natural looking.

UPDATE: I see now that they have 111 Toffe in UK. Anyone who has this and is not using it, i'm willing to buy. Please email me.

Ok, so I find myself on the other side of the fence on this foundation. Despite it's glowing reviews from most everyone else, I did not like this foundation for my oily/sensitive skin. I used it before going out one night without a primer underneath. I was concerned about the scent...kind of resembles watermelon, and I usually don't like my foundations having a scent to them. I didn't care for it. But I went on....it felt creamy until I put it on my face. Then it took on a drier silicone like consistency and I felt like I had to put it on in small sections to blend it before it dried. The coverage was ok but nothing earth-shattering. After about an hour and 1/2 or so I checked my face and had a strange sheen to my skin so I needed to blot w/some powder. My skin is already oily, so the last thing I need is more shine. Before the night was over I had blotted it several more times. So the next day I tried it w/dermadoctor tease zone in my T-zone area. Same results.....my face had the strange sheen again and was greasy. It also felt a little tight despite my moisturizer and tease zone underneath the foundation. At that point I knew it was going to aggravate my skin. Sure enough by the next morning I had a rashy my skin is angry type of breakout. I really had high hopes for this foundation as I'm having a hard time finding something to control oil and last without looking dry or irritating my skin. But I just didn't like it. Luckily I got a tester and didn't actually purchase it. Guess I will go back to Estee Lauder Double Wear Light w/my tease zone until I find something better

on the hunt for a long lasting liquid foundation i stumbled across the newly marketed Clarins version. This is it! Easy to apply it literally glides over my skin and is super easy to blend, my skin looks soft and radiant, I think its described as full coverage with a matt finish. I would say its more of a medium but buildable coverage with a natural finish. I have never used Mac foundations but had a makeover where they used Studio Sculpt NC25 (nice match but a bit too yellow) i have 109 wheat and 111 toffee(for when i tan) but there is very little difference between these 2 shades. I highly recommend this foundation if like me you have tried other long lasting foundations and found them difficult to work with, mask like and cakey i.e ELDW and Revlon colourstay that i have tried so far.

I wish I could give it a 3.5! I do like it, but not as much as I like my HG EL DW.
Everlasting has a similar coverage as DW, the biggest minus for me being that it doesn't control oil as well as DW, I have to blot 3-4 times/day to keep it looking good (as opposed to only blotting once/day with DW).
Other than that, I like everything. The pump bottle, the scent, the coverage, the ease of application...I can see this being HG for people with normal skin.
I have only used it twice, and haven't gotten breakouts yet, if I do get them, I will update my review.

I Bought this foundation on a recent weekend away i had wondered into Boots wanting to buy Chanel Vitalumier and brought my Mufe Hd in 117 with me to get the best colour match i could, unfortunitly the lightest shade was to dark so i decided i would try clarins after hearing good things about this foundation and hearing it was good for oily skin. I got colour matched to (104) and the SA was very helpful and even threw in some skin care samples. I am pleased i bought this foundation as i have oily skin and need something that will last the day. This foundation lasts all day and its so creamy and i love the smell !! I dont find it a "heavy" foundation but it does have very good coverage and it blends like a dream with my Coastal Scents buffer brush. My nose does get a little oily with this foundation but thats normal for me and i dont think anything could stop that. my only fault is its not yellow enough for me .

I'm sad to say that I ended up returning this foundation. I like a more natural looking foundation and I found this to be cakey. Maybe it's not possible to get a full coverage makeup that doesn't look heavy. It does have some good aspects. This makeup stays on ALL DAY! I was shocked how long it lasted. I was able to get a good color match also. The coverage is also very good. I really wish I liked this. It has almost everything I want in a foundation. I guess I just don't like looking like I'm wearing foundation. I know this will be HG for some women...just not for me :(

It gives my skin a flawless finish. Not too thick or cakey. Really smooth on the skin. Hydrating as well. My face does not look cakey like some foundations does. It has a nice watermelon smell and SPF for the summer.

Excellent foundation!
Dries quickly, comes on easily with fingers or brush, lasts forever with a nice, flowery smell...
Couldn't be better, 5 stars and a true HG for me.
The price could be better, but I buy it a lot cheaper at feelunique.com than in stores.

You guys really have to stop raving about foundations (not). I went to Clarins & asked for a sample. Yes, I need another fdn like a centipede needs another set of legs, but wouldn't hurt either.
The bottle & smell of this fdn is so identical to YSL Teint Resist, although Clarin's is a tad larger; 0.2 oz more than YSL. The YSL is matte while this has somewhat of a luminous 3D quality to the finish. I especially like it a hour or so after application when the skin's moisture mix with it a bit. It is totally naturally looking. (so is the YSL)
Yesterday, I had this on & was in a very warm & humid environment, the air conditioner was not turned on, & a rain was approaching, so the air-pressure is low & muggy. I was there for 6 hours, & my T-zone was shiny, yet the fdn was truly there.
The short fall is the colour selection, I am NC35 & picked the darkest shade #112 amber, which has a very slight warm undertone, warm as in yellow-peach, but not pink. #110 has a yellowish tone but is too light. I have learn to adjust the fdn with sunscreen, since the titanium dioxide is whitish.
I took a lippie off b/c this fdn cannot be layered (too much) to conceal my melasma, which is not a big issue, just too lazy to reach for another product. It retails for Cad$41, which is more than reasonable for such a quality product. YSL is $58, as I remember.
btw, as I checked the ingredients, this fdn does not contained any oil.
btw, don't be fooled by the spf in this fdn, or any fdn for that matter, checked if they bragged about the broad-spectrum issue .... hmmm .... it is good against UVB, what about UVA?

Have used this for a week plus, and have to say, this liquid foundation is pretty good. My skin is on the dry side but gets shiny along the t-zone, especially on the forehead. This foundation managed to keep the shine off for about 6 hours before I have to pull out the compact powder. Not bad at all, and my drier areas i.e cheeks didn't feel tight and no flakies at all at the sides of the nose. Also no breakouts. Great product!

let me just start by saying this is the most beautiful foundation I've ever tried. I got 103 ivory. I usually find it so hard finding foundations, I'm so pale so everything looks too dark or Orange on my skin, but the colour match us perfect so clarins shades seem designed for paler people as well as it being for oily skin, this is like a god send for me after feeling like I've tried every foundation under the sun from low end to high.
anyway back to this, this gives you medium to full coverage and smells amazingly of watermelon which I love, but some people may find that annoying or may cause them to break out, the smell doesn't last long tho. It covers every blemish evenly and doesn't emphasise dry skin, the formulation stays matte all day and doesn't oxidise which is amazing! it does stay fresh all day, the first day I wore it was horrible, warm and humid and it lasted all day without caking, even in my work which seems to be hotter than hell. the price is a bit steep but well worth it, finally a foundation that keeps it promises.<3

Dare I say that this has replaced my MUFE F&B and EL DW as my favorite foundation? I think it has! I was dying for this ever since it came out however I couldn't buy it online as the swatches left me clueless to what shade I would be. Finally my local Carson Pirie Scott got it in stock so I went to get matched.

I will say that the shade range for anyone with darker skin is pretty limited. I matched as 109 Wheat which is near the end of the shade range (for reference I am NW25/30/N3 in MAC and Sand 22 in F&B). Supposedly they will be coming out with more colors though. Wheat is a medium color with neutral-pink undertones. The foundation has a slight scent which is actually nice - nothing chemical, almost a bit fruity.

The coverage is medium, buildable to full. A small bit is needed for my full face and it looks and feels impeccable. I have normal skin that tends to lean on the dry side sometimes and with moisturizer and primer underneath I have zero issues of caking, flaking or dry patches. On me it lasts nearly 14 hours ~ which is similar to DW however it feels sooooo much lighter on. It feels like MUFE F&B actually - light and airy.

Thirty five bucks at Carsons and completely worth more. I am in complete love with this foundation!!! Great for those of us over thirty who are looking for coverage, sustainability and a flawless finish that doesn't settle into lines or pores. Try it!

UPDATE: 10/2011 ~ still love this! However now I am using the color Amber (I am a NW30-35). I actually match okay to Toffee but it is slightly too pink on my skin, even though I have pinkish undertones.

MIRACLE FOUNDATION!!! I have always highly respected the quality of Clarins products, so when I decided to try this superb product, I was not surprised that is was wonderful, but nothing could have prepaired me for just HOW wonderful it reall is. Clarins REALLY out-did themselves on this item!. To the person who wrote the first review on this product...Look, as with ALL cosmetics, the application and performance of the product will FULLY depend on YOUR particular skin type. If you have oily skin, very few, if any, foundation products will work 100% for you...oil is oil...what on earth will successfully adhere to oil? For all other skin types...OMG!!! Trust me, you'll be shocked at what this will do. Even my Teenager, who thinks I'm the oldest, uglyest thing alive, came into the room after I applied this makeup and said, "Wow, your face skin looks flawless". If a TEENAGER'S nitices/compliments isn't the best proof that this product is amazing, then I don't know what other proof would be more convincing. Competitively priced compaired to the other better quality cosmetics on the market, and well worth every penny. In fact, if it was $1,000 per bottle, I'd pay it before my rent! It goes on effortlessly, and is officially on my "Can't ever live without again" list. ESPECIALLY AS I TURN 50 NEXT MONTH!!! No need for plastic surgery with this makeup!

I'm writing this to say that the first time I put it on last night after wiping my face off with a baby wipe, it controlled my oil like the other reviews said, but it made my nose spotty.

Then I tried it today after washing it and using a moisturizer and no more than an hour or two later I was really oily just like all my other foundations. I'm sooooo mad, I'm so desperate to find something that doesn't make me oily.

So anyway after I showered, I put it on again without moisturizer just to see if that was the problem and here I am, OILY once again. I'm gonna give it a few more tries, and then update my review but so far so ehhhh.

After so many years and much money spent looking the ultimate foundation, I have found it! It gives flawless coverage and lasts all day. The colour selection is good for fair skin like mine, but could prove a problem for darker skin. Its simple and easy to apply and the packaging is great. Big thumbs up!

Excellent!! This is what most long-wearing foundations strive to be, but miss the mark. Exceptional coverage, truly long wear, oil control, natural finish, transfer resistant, good shades and NO breakouts with sensitive skin. Surprising, since it doesn't say "oil-free", only non-comedogenic and that usually still breaks me out. I can put it on at 6 am and it still looks perfect at midnight. I have very pale yellow skin and Ivory matches surprisingly well. It doesn't oxidize at all. Love the pump! All-in-all, a perfect, low-maintenance foundation worth every penny.
