i used this product yrs ago and i forgot how great it was. i went on to buy more expensive products but i came back to this after having adult pimple problems. this has cleared my skin up in 2 weeks. my skin looks better than it has in several yrs. it does burn around the eyes but im not going to quit using it. i think they have a sensative formula for those who it burns.

I like this product because it soaks in right away and comes in a tub (so there's no product lost), but that's about where the love ends. It's overpriced, stings my face when applied, and I don't really see any improvement in my skin after using it regularly for a few weeks. It doesn't seem like much of a moisturizer to me, unfortunately. Occasionally I'll get a sample of it at Sephora, and I am reminded again why I don't repurchase this product.

HORRIBLE! It burns my face, especially the skin around my eyes. It smells like rotting fish. It made me break out. The packaging is unsanitary.

Ladies I regret ever putting this on my face. Fortunately I did not buy this but saw in it my mom's stash and decided what the heck...
What was I thinking? This is a warning and hopefully will prevent this from happening to you, just be sure and patch test yourself before putting this all over you face
I’m trying to narrow down what ingredient in this stuff made my face have severe swelling, redness, and raised rash like welts everywhere that i had applied the cream.
I first used this Saturday evening, signs started developing the following day, and when I woke up this Monday morning I could barely open my eye the swelling had gotten so bad. I was so scared that symptoms were escalating, i ended up spending the morning in the ER. And finally sent home with no answers and a rx for prednisone.
I have never reacted this way to anything else before.

My favorite moisturizer! Im surprised at some of the bad reviews on this. Well, it works great on my skin! Its creamy and blends in nicely. It really feels moisturizing while it smooths out my skin and gives a nice glow afterwards. It's pricey, but totally worth it to me. The jar does contain a lot of product and a very little amount on the skin can go a long way.

Wanted to love this. I get this for free from a friend sometimes but I end up using it as a body lotion. It's so silky and smooth but it makes my face silky for a few minutes...then my skin get's thick and greaseballs ensue on my face. Would not recommend. Not worth the ridiculous price.

I wanted to like this, I really did. I received this in a set, this didn't work for me. In fact none of the products in the kit worked for me.
Hope in a Jar burned my eyes and smelled like box hair dye. I used it a few times and had to stop, if it got anywhere near my eyes the burning sensation started. My skin around eyes is way too sensitive for this stuff. And the smell....yuck!
My aunt uses this religiously, but I couldn't stand it.
UPDATE: Almost 2 months after this I'm still dealing with all the scaring from this product and I'm still breaking out since trying to use the Philosophy gift set I received. I return it but my face has not been the same =( Tons of scars. They make me feel gross and I can't go without full coverage foundation.
Another Update: 3 months after using this product my skin has never been the same..I never had cystic acne but after using this I haven't been able to get the huge deep painful cyst from appearing on my chin =(

Like many others, I wanted to love this. I wanted to find my HG moisturiser, and after reading so many rave reviews I thought maybe this would be the one! I only use this at night time and when I wake up this does make my face feel plump and soft (although I'm currently using E.L advanced night repair too, so it could be the benefits of that coming through) I like the souffle-style of this, it makes it melt into my skin so well. I also don't mind the smell and think the jar is unbelievably cute. The one gripe I have with this is that it irritates my eyes to no extent. Upon applying this my eyes water excessively and they burn. I think for that reason alone, once this jar is up I'm going to have to move on and find something else. If this works for you, you can withstand the smell and it doesn't give you a painful adverse reaction, I think this could just well be amazing.

really wanted to like this as i love philosophy as a brand put as soon as i applied this my face began to sting and turned red to me it stunk of paint, i tried keeping it on for a little while but had to wash it off after 10-15 minutes and then my face calmed down. nothing like what i was hoping for unfortunatly. still love the purity cleanser and a bunch of other philosophy products though

I received this product as a gift after lusting after it for some time. I really, really wanted this product to be my HG but ....no.
I have sensitive, somewhat acne prone (random seemingly for-no-reason breakouts), some rosacea splotches, a few dry patches on my skin and then some super oily parts on my face.
I first tried this awhile ago and noticed that it did leave my skin feeling a little glowy, but after trying it again and again, I have had enough of it. IT STINGS and I think it actually has contributed to breaking out my skin. Disappointed, but once again, now I know that this product does not work for my bipolar skin.

PROS
consistency
smell(I really like lavender)
almost instant absorption
CONS
burns after exfoliation
left me with clogged pores after a week
made my skin oilier
$$$
I really wanted this moisturizer to work for me after all the great reviews on Sephora. I liked how my skin reacted to it the first few days- it left my cheeks kind of dewy under my foundation, and a few friends commented on my "glow." Then BAM!- honeymoon over. I began to wake up to a really oily face. I started noticing my pores were getting tiny hard plugs all over my cheeks, so I broke out my Olay proX brush and exfoliated. I put Hope on afterwards and it caused a very unpleasant stinging sensation.
This goes on the return pile.

This is the second time I use it, though I hadn't used it for a while. Because my skin condition became very oily recently, so I decided to use it again. Like the first time, it helps my skin smooth and not oily.(I have combination skin, and T-zone is very oily) This time, I've used it with "help me" night cream and "purity", and they give my skin really fresh next morning! I guess this cream fits depending on your skin, so I can say that it's difficult to decide this cream is good or not for you without trying.

Luckily, I got this from qvc so was able to try it for a few days and send it back..
No scent but a weird sort of smell that I really didn't like. The constancy is slightly gloopy which I didn't like and it also felt drying on my skin.
I love the packaging for this brand but this ones a no-no for me. Not expensive for a range of this type ( over 30's skin) but...I knew it was not going to melt any lines away and you can't buy hope in a jar, even a plastic one.

I was excited to try this product given all the hype but was really disappointed once i finally did. Not only did it burn my face but it smelt horrible. The cream also had a really strange consistency and made me break out. I took it straight back to the store.

I'm afraid to say this and jinx it, but this moisturizer hasnt given me any ridiculous problems like irritation or breakouts. In fact, it seems to help with redness and even pimples. I put it on before bed because it smells like sh*t but when I wake up my skin is smoother and closer to being nice. A little goes a long way - but it's so expensive that I have to only use it every other day, which may be why I haven't run into any problems.

Hope In a Jar works pretty well on me. It makes my skin feel smooth and soft after applying. I notice I have smoother skin, less breakouts and no redness. However, it doesn't give you smaller pores, that why i rate it with 4. It is a bit pricy, but a little goes a long way. I once bought an 8oz jar, it last for 6 months. Now, I stay with the 2 oz size, so it keeps fresh.

I got this as a sample and was thinking this would be a blessing to my dry skin. However I was wrong it burnt and left my face red, at first I thought it was just because my pores were open. I continued to use and broke out in a horrible rash, certainly one of the worst products I have ever used. I suggest getting a sample if you have sensitive skin from Sephora before buying.

I was on the hunt for a good moisturizer because I have such dry skin and on a whim I picked up a travel size of this. First the smell is more like something metallic but once I put it on my face I can no longer smell it. I can handle the smell so it didn't bother me. The texture is a whipped like cream that seems a little thin for my liking (I am used to using heavy creams just to moisturize). A little goes a long way and my face hasn't felt more moisturized. I love it. It has helped my skin a long way. The breakouts have significantly decreased due to the better moisture balance and my skin is looking much brighter. The travel size lasted me a while and I just purchased the full 2oz size.

This has seriously saved my skin. I get horribly dry skin in the winter - and this has been a godsend. I break out something fierce when my skin gets dry - no more breakouts for me! It is pricey, but a little bit goes a LONG way. I don't use it at night like a lot of previous reviewers, I actually use it in the morning, also (I don't cleanse in the morning, just splash my face with water in the shower- it helps with the dryness). At night, I use Purity cleanser (also Philosophy) followed up by my beloved Hope in a Jar). It may not work for everyone, but for me, it does wonders!

This is a great night cream. I have acne-prone skin so I'm always very nervous to try out new products but this didn't fail me at all. It hasnt broken me out at all if anything it's helping my acne stay under control.
The reason why I only gave it 4 was because I think for the price is should be packaged better. I've never likes anything in jar form. Or any packaging without a pump because I believe you can never get your hands clean enough to not transfer bacteria into anything without a pump. I also don't believe it's good for morning at all it's a little heavy.
Other than that I believe this product is worth at least to find a sample of.
