I finally bought into the hype and got this razor (in a kit). I must say that I am impressed. I usually use the quattro (which I love) but I have been having to shave everyday since it is summer, and that gets really annoying. I shaved yesterday and my legs are still so super smooth 24 hours later. I used it with no problem on my underarms, so hopefully this razor will help me shave less often there too so I can have less irritation. My pod is fine, it won't come off. I wet the suction cups and stuck it to the dry wall where the water wouldn't hit it.

omg i luv this razor!!!! ive been using it for about 3 weeks ad only cut myself once (from being clumsy, not the razor) it gives me a very close shave and lasts a while. I got this whole kit thing that was on sale and it came with a razor, an extra blade, the shower pod, this little thing to put over the blade (to keep it clean), and a mini shaving cream. i luv every thing in it except the shower pod, doesn't stick well. im definately buying this again, and the avacado shaving cream!!! smells good and shows me where iv shaved and where i havent!

I wasn't blown away when I first started using this razor, and I didn't realize how great it was until I went back to my old disposables. I then realized how it glides so smoothly and makes my legs a bit softer than my old stuff. I've decided to only use it for special occasions though because of how ridiculously priced it is.

And it works great for me for all areas - legs, bikini area and underarms .. actually it works especially well for my underarms!

EDIT - I now upped this to 5 lippies .. I used a Bic disposable and my legs became red & rashy .. the Venus Embrace is truly the best razor!

This is honestly the closest shave I have ever had. I've had almost all of the various venuses throughout the years, and this is by far the best one I've used. I have very pale legs and very dark hair, so you can see stubble incredibly well, and right after I shave you can still see where the hairs are under the skin. With this razor, it's the best I've seen! You can hardly see the hair! I'm very impressed.

This is the best razor I've ever used. I only use it for my legs, so I have no comment on the underarm issue. But I ADORE it! I have never ONCE gotton cut using this razor, and I still get the smoothest shave. I get razor burn often using other razors, but never have with this one. As for the suction cup holder, it sticks well for me. Mine has never fallen off, like it has for other women. However, I attach mine to a part of my shower where the water doesn't hit, so that could make the difference. Oh! Another good thing about this is the replacable heads. They easily come on and off, and they go nicely in the razor holder. Overall I couldn't say any more good things about this razor. Bravo!

I have been fairly pleased with the disposable and regular Venus razor because they never really nick my skin. My only complaint about the originals was that they never shaved really close, but with the Embrace you do get a really nice silky, smooth feeling.

But unfortunately there are two things I just hate about this razor..which might force me to go out and buy the Mach 3... but here you go:

1) the holder -- this thing nearly broke on me while I was trying to get the suction cups to stick to the wall. I used water to help it stick but it still SUCKS. I liked the old holders that were smaller and easier to use... but I guess this really isn't a huge deal... but I hate it anyway.

2) Why is the razor head so WIDE? I hate using this on my arm pits. The cushion really gets in the way, rather than helping me. Therefore, I only use it on my legs. I'd rather use the disposable Venus on my armpits.

I can't say I lost any money because I think it does MUCH better than the regular razor, but it's bulky and awkward and I can't use it for every area I shave...which means having to get a separate razor to accomplish everything :( Still on a look out for a better one... hoping the Mach 3 will be it.

Who could ever love a razor the way I love this one?!? I always used disposables prior to this (Bic Soleil, usually), but was always disappointed in how the perfect, smooth shave lasted approximately 2 shaves and then it was nick city...I've been using the Embrace almost two weeks, shaving almost every day, with not a single nick, and without a doubt, the closest, easiest shave I've ever had! The razor effortlessly gets even the little fuzz on the first try. My boyfriend didn't know I had switched, and one night (at 11 PM, mind you, when I shave at 8 AM) he said that my legs feel "amazing, like I had just put lotion on"...! I think the cost for the cartridges is a bit ridiculous, but if I keep getting results like this, I'll suck it up. Oh, and the shower holder suction cups have held up for me, so that's an added bonus :) Highly recommend!

i have been a fan of venus razors since they first came out, i have been with the original venus for a few years now, and between those few years i also purchased the shick intuition, which i fell in love with, but really quickly got sick of the size and how quickly the soap would disappear.. so i went back to my venus, but i liked the fact that the intuition had the soap.. so i tried my sisters venus breeze, and the soap on that would get all gross and slimy, so after much research i broke down and got the Embrace... i LOVE it! it has a really close shave and the moisture strips are very very moisturizing! i even forgot to put lotion on my legs after my shower my legs were so soft and moisturized! even though it may be a little expensive, its worth it!

I just picked this up fairly recently and I love it! It truly is a smoother shave than the original three-blade Venus! I shave my legs every other day, so like the SophieH below, my blades last me about two weeks. That's good, because I also agree that the refills are insanely expensive...but so worth it! I'm loving the gel-grip handle as well!

Here's a hint for those of you having trouble with the holder in the shower: First, take the suction cups out of the back of the holder! I don't trust anything that uses suction cups to hold up well on a shower wall to begin with. Now, if you have an old wall bracket for an older Venus razor (the ones that stick with double-sided tape), match the pegs on the bracket to two of the small holes on the Embrace holder. They should be a perfect fit, and you won't have to worry about it falling off the wall. I agree, the holder defnitely needs work! Way too flimsy and it opens way too easily!

I used to be married to my Schick Quattro. I thought it was amazing and more indie than a Venus. But now I really have to give it to Gillette. This Venus is better than all previous razors I've used (and these include the Quattro, the men's Fusion 5-blade, the Mach III, the Intuition, the 3-blade Venus, all manner of disposables etc.)

My first priority in a razor is the speed and ease with which I can accomplish a good, nick-free shave. I shave every day in the bath, and I like to work fast. I don't use shaving cream-just a bit of shower gel. Using an Embrace is like having a HIGH-quality shaving cream in between your skin and a normal razor. Using an Embrace fast is like using another razor very carefully. I just make a slapdash, 5-minute, soap-and-water effort while reading a magazine, and I have no problems - just a high-quality, safe, SMOOTH shave.

So, between the razor's shape, pivoting head, moisture bars, etc., none of the 5 sharp blades ever snags my skin, even in "contoured" areas (i.e. underarms, knees). No nicks, no cuts, and this with just the razor and soapy water.

But that wouldn't be enough for me unless the shave were really close and satiny-smooth. And believe me, it is. Way smoother than previous Venuses, and even smoother than my beloved Quattro. My SO loves my empty little hair follicles. I'm sure he thinks nothing ever grew there. My legs feel like satin, basically. If they didn't, I'd risk the nicks with another razor--I hold my stems to very high standards. But this works.

Seeing as each cartridge has 5 blades, I think it's ok to use them for ~2 weeks of shaves. Especially because replacement cartridges are insanely expensive. That is the only drawback with the Embrace. And despite all the freebie throw-ins (shaving cream, loofahs...) Gillette includes to make it seem like you're getting a good deal, you're still paying mad money. Though I haven't tried these cartridges with my Save-a-Blade, I recommend that latter device to economically-minded girls.

Okay, so I thought the original venus was good, and venus divine was very good...well, this BLOWS them out of the water!
I bought the pack that comes with the razor, 1 cartridge, and a mini avocado shave gel for 13.99 CA at WalMart -It was well worth it!
I used it today, with the avocado shave cream, and I have seriously never ever had such smooth soft skin after shaving. It's wonderful. The shave cream has a nice fresh clean smell to it that isn't overwhelming.
The only thing that isn't great is that the large refill packages are like $40...haha... but you do get a very good quality shave, and I'm sure with 5 blades it will last a bit longer than the regular razors. At least I hope so!
I recommend this to anyone who wants super soft sexy skin!

this is the best razor i've used. the holder thing stuck to my wall really well-i cant even take it off now, it won't come off. with this, it really gives you a really smooth shave & it like impossible to cut yourself. The head is a little to big for the armpits though

Very good razor- I also got it for free after rebate. My holder also fell off the wall about five minutes after I stuck it up. This razor fits in the case/razor holder for the venus vibrance, which I already had in the shower. The refills don't fit in there. however.

I have actually been using the Gillette Fusion for awhile because it gave me a closer shave than other razors... When CVS had this on sale (and it was free after coupons) I decided to give it a try. It is nearly impossible to cut yourself with this razor! It definitely gives you a smooth, moisturized shave. I think you could actually shave without any cream and it would be fine (although I'm not daring enough to try that! lol) So far, this has given me the closer, longer lasting shave on my legs. I did find it a little difficult to maneuver in the armpit area, but I'm getting used to it now. Check CVS for a super cute "bonus" starter set that includes extra blades & shaving cream inside of a very cute reusable bag/purse.

Haha, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I also tried to stick the razor's holder (it has suction cups) onto my shower and it came crashing down. I actually tried several times to adhere it but to no avail.
As far as the shave goes, it seems to do a good job. I couldn't tell a huge difference from my other razors (I've used the original venus and the venus vibrance). The one plus is that it is nearly impossible to cut yourself - I came out without a nick. I'll probably keep using it just because it does a good job and I haven't found anything better.
One thing I don't like is the moisturizing strips - they are too big for my taste and feel kind of gross and gooey (but that's just me). Overall, my legs feel soft and a got a close shave. The refills are pricey, but I think they are probably worth it (I'll have to wait a while to decide for sure). But seriously- they need to work on the holder!

I think I feel the same way as just about everybody else. I also grabbed this for free with rebate at Walgreens recently, so I had nothing to lose. I like the design, haven't cut myself, and felt like the shave was a good one. I also noticed that it clogged quickly, so I'll be using liquid soap to shave with instead of blah conditioner that didn't pass the head-hair test. The caddy wouldn't stick to my shower walls for anything, so I took out the spare razor head and tossed the pod. I'm not really someone would would switch blades mid-shave, so it was pretty useless anyway. I think the hilariousness of having 5 blades is enough to keep me using this for awhile--I'll just try to find the pricey refills on sale.
Update: Now that I've been using this for nearly a month, I have a couple of things to note. I'm very careful to let it dry razor side up, so the gooey moisture strips don't stick to anything, and I think that's helped it's shelf life. Secondly, is anyone noticing patchy hair regrowth? My armpits and bikini zone look like I did a terrible wax job! I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how this is happening. I can only assume that I'm able to shave some parts so closely that they can't catch up to parts that get a more regular shave length. But then, everything feels the same smoothness right after I shave, so this is a mystery. No change in diet or new medicine or anything that could have caused it either. Too weird.

I always have to try a new razor by Gillette! :) I like the Embrace SO much better than the Breeze! The 5 blades do clog quick, so you have to rinse it often. It does give a pretty close shave and I like the moisture bars around the entire head of the razor. The shower pod didn't stay up in my shower either, I'm just going to chuck it and keep the refills in my shower caddy.

My local Walgreens is selling this for $9.99 with a 100% send in rebate in the coupon savings book. I need a new razor, so why not?? I am very happy with the results so far. I don't know if it is the five blades or the design of the head, but the razor has a nice flexibility and just skims down the skin. Seems very smooth, no compaints so far, comes with one extra blade replacement.
