The best in the business. I have yet to find another gel liner as good as MAC's. First used a friend's and ran straight to the nearest MAC counter to buy it. Lasts forever as well so it's absolutely worth it! The dramatic look it gives you is simply impossible to get with liquid and pencil liners.

my mum bought this at macy's but hadn't used it so i nabbed it. receipt was in the bag but i don't remember how much it cost. but depending on how religious you are with eyeliner, this pot will last and last and last and last. i use a little pointed brush to give myself cateyes. it's an awesome product, and should be invested upon. it's smooth, and stays where you put it, but not a hassle to take off. this can be seen as good or bad depending on the situation. i don't see anybody putting a liquid-y eyeliner on the bottom lashes. i did the coon eyes in my embarrassing scene days in highschool, but still, i didn't know anything, i used any pencil i could find. my point is if this gel gets wet from say, your tears, you better pat dry and stop crying or you might as well wipe this off and start again. it's meant to be a solid-looking product, but gentle as well, especially since you are most likely getting some on your eyelashes. i'm happy i have this. i have no need to carry it around because i know my eyes will look just as good into the night as they did when i applied in the daytime. but if you are the type to carry around brushes, go ahead. i love the little pot. much more trustworthy than an eyeliner pen. where the tip gets used and there's nothing you can do about it. at least you can see the amount of your product and if you want to change your brush. heck, i even first tried this with one of those eyeliner pens. it was empty and i wanted to see if this was any good and it sure was. love it love it love it so much. hope they don't discontinue it, because it'll probably be years before i have to purchase a new pot. do eyeliner pens last that long.. no, of course not. also, if you wanna smudge this, you can! i do a bold cateye up top, and just a dot at my last lash on the lower side, then smudge it with the tip of my finger. does not affect your mascara. thank you so much mac. :>

I can't believe (seriously I'm in shock) that I have yet to review this! Perhaps if I had rated this about 7 yrs ago when I first purchased this, I would have rated this much higher. But, since then I have tried many other gel liners which I think are just as good or better than MAC's Fluidline. So here goes my 2 cents, when I first tried this I was in Makeup heaven. Up until trying FL I was using MAC's cake liner, which has been dc'd now. With the cake liner you would first have to wet the cake liner and work it into a paste. So it's easy to see why I would love MAC's FL since the application of the gel liner was a huge improvement on the cake liner. I loved the way it applied on my upper lash line, of course I would have to put UDPP first since my lids are so oily. I would apply this on my waterline (I'm obsessed with lining my waterline) and the results were nothing to write home about. True, this isn't meant to be used on the waterline, but it didn't irritate my eyes so I didn't see the harm in using it as so. In it's defense it did last longer than almost every pencil I had tried, up to this point, in my waterline. After 3-4 hrs of wear it would not only be completely gone from my waterline, but it would be not so nicely smudged beyond my lash line :( Which I then have to rub as delicately as possible to remove from the delicate under eye area. Argh! I hated that because I would've been okay with the liner coming off my waterline (hello nothing new there for me) and settling 'nicely' into my lower lash line, but when it decided to migrate and start a smudge festival underneath my eye it was a 'no go' for me. Even with all these short comings, I still would've rated this highly back in the day. The main reason why, would be due to the fact that I had not heard/seen anything like it on the market. I don't know if MAC was the first to come out with a gel liner or it was the first to popularize it, but as mentioned before there are better gel eyeliners out there. For example I think Clinique is better overall and much more pigmented. DS gel liners are comparable to MAC's FL and for a much cheaper price. I am currently using INGLOTS and I'm, fingers crossed, pleased so far :) But I don't want to jinx it! Yes, this gel liner was my first intro and the beginning of my love affair with gel liners, but since then I have found many other loves. I think for the price, pigmentation, lasting power and overall performance this gel liner is dare I say it 'hyped' ........'over hyped'. In general makeup users love it, and that's great but for me it doesn't live up to it with all the other gel liners on the market. Those are my 2 cents or more like a gazillion word review, lol.

OMG. HG liner. As an ex-goth (LOL) I've tried every kind of liquid liner on the market - cake, liquid, gel etc. This is THE best and I don't know why it took me so long to try it!

It lasts and lasts on my monolids, plus it dries faster than any LL I have used before, so no drying time *at all*. This is an issue if you have monolids.

Love. Run and buy this. Now.

first two months this products applied smooth but after few months it starts to dry. Also this product did not have power to stay it can easily blend. For this price it is not . I much prefer to use inglot gel eyeliner which is really black and intense and did not move until I clean with really good makeup remover

I've been using the MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack since October 2010. Each eyeliner lasts me for about a year which is great since I use this eyeliner everyday well at least when I go out. The eyeliner lasts for a really long time, I haven't actually timed it but it does last a long time. I prefer this gel liner because it glides on easily. One thing I don't like is that in the end, the eye liner gel dries up. So what I do is I stir the eyeliner and then the eye liner works normally and sometimes it doesn't. As well you could use a hair dryer to melt it if it dries up. Other than that, I will continue buying this eyeliner!

This is the only black eyeliner I've been using for the past few years. It glides on smoothly and stays on well for hours. I have really oily skin though so it does smudge a bit after a couple of hours for me. It should be fine for people with less oily skin or if you use it with an eye primer.

I LOVE this gel liner. It is a great formula and paired with a great eye primer, it stays on all day and lasts through the night. Without a primer, I can get away with at least 6-8 hrs of wear.

This product stays put once dry and it's got alot of pigment to it as well. This is what I reach for whenever I don't have the time to use a liquid liner. Gel liners make it easy even for a novice as it doesn't take a pro to apply , I personally use my smashbox eyeliner brush, swipe a few times and i'm good to go. Great product.

I love this gel eyeliner! I am very impressed with this, I have never used a gel eyeliner before and when I started using this I am sold to using gel eyeliners. I tend to stick to MAC black track since I can only pull off black eyeliner to be honest. I have used this with mutiple brushes since I am still trying to practice in applying and drawing a decent line. I have used an angled brush, a liner brush (came with it) and a lip brush! I prefer the angled brush and lip brush though. I love how it dries quickly and lasts for a long time.

I bought this product almost two years ago and I'm ALMOST 2/3 of the way done (yes, I regularly use it). I screw the lid on tightly and it still is very creamy. I don't think it's as good as it was during it's first year, but it's still really good.
It's not the blackest of black, but it's black. It's opaque. It's not 100% smudge proof, but it's very minimal smudging. You won't end up with raccoon eyes, but there MAY be the slightest bit smudging if you're an eye rubber. Setting it with powder really does the trick and then makes it smudge proof, so a little bitty step is required to make this thing perfect.

The absolute best eyeliner on the market! It stays all day and the consistancy is amazing. It's not exactly creamy but wet and it makes it super easy to work with and make a perfect wing quickly.

This product is fantastic. An absolute must have for my kit. If you find it isn't heavily pigmented enough try working the product into the back of your hand for a bit before applying (move fast or it'll dry out) then paint it onto the full lid for an amazing long lasting base for smoky eye. Buff out with a 217 brush or similar while still slightly wet. Try not to layer too much product and don't leave the lid off while you work as it can dry out quickly.

I really loved the idea of a gel liner so I decided to purchase MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack. Having used a crayon (Maybelline's Unstoppable in Onyx) as my daily eyeliner, I was extremely disappointed with MAC's FL. I bought the eyeliner pot as well as the slanted eyeliner brush recommended by the MAC SA. I find that when you paint the eyeliner on the colour is not strong, and I have to go over the line several times with the brush before I get a solid black anywhere close to what I could get with a crayon. I'm not sure if it's my brush technique or how I apply the eyeliner, but I have been using this product for a few years now and I still find that my Maybelline Unstoppable gives much better pigment and solid colour. I will say though that MAC's FL does have supreme staying power if you use a primer and power, and after a few years the pot still hasn't dried out at all. But if you are purchasing this thinking that the gel is very heavily pigmented, be warned that it is not. I will not repurhcase and will stick with my Maybelline crayon, or perhaps try a conventional liquid liner for that strong pigment I like in an eyeliner.

This is a great gel eye-liner. I personally can't attest to others saying that Bobbi Brown's, Inglot's or Napoleon Perdis' versions are extremely better as this is the first one I have tried but for what it does I am happy. It is very black though at times you have to go over certain areas again to make it even more opaque. It lasts long but does fade nearing the end of wearing it through a work day, but primer solves this.
The packaging is sleek and professional like all of MAC's permanent line. I recommend storing it in the original box packaging as to further prevent the product from drying up as many complain of this!

LOOVE this gel liner!! I have oily lids and this doesnt smudge or move in at least 8 hrs! the color is great but i discovered that using a cheap liner brush the color doesnt show as much but its my brush fault. Its very blendable so when i put a cracked line ( often) i can fix it without a problem! Great product, good packaging, lasts a long time.

long this eye liner - glides on smooth. does last all day.
the only reason gave it 4 stars is because i workout during lunch time at work and it does fade a bit away. but if i use primer (urban decay) it last even thru my insanity workout dvd.

I bought 5 of these on ebay for $10(Canadian)! If you see it on ebay, it's exactly what it says it is. I usually use Maybeline stiletto (which is almost $20 here for 1), but wanted to try and gel liner, and decided to give mac a try. I heard a lot of good reviews on you-tube about it. I was both super excited and disappointed at the same time. Its seem easily transferable at first, BUT, you need a primer for this and BAM best liner ever. It goes on so creamy and smooth. It's really easy to apply and it's really pigmented, I love it. I haven't been able to put an eyeliner on my waterline for years because they just turned into a big mess because my eyes water so much. I can actually wear this on my waterline, and it lasts all day. Love love love, this eyeliner.
