Update: Okay so i tried applying differently - building up lashes quickly - applying coat after coat without waiting to dry. YES it does build volume and length - for this alone i'd upgrade to 4lippies - HOWEVER - 1) for me it's tricky to apply; 2) smudges in humidity 3) if i get remotely teary-eyed, this mascara BURNS my eyes - thus starting a vicious cycle: getting even more teary-eyed + burning even more + mad smudging! Maybe it's just me. Either which way, will stay at 3 lippies, wouldn't repurchase and wouldn't use this as my HG or even every-day mascara. i'm sticking with my chemically-laden Cover Girl Super Thick Lash and Lash Exact. Here's my original review:Meh. i'm not sure about this one. i expected far more - i expected it to be better than my faves:- Cover Girl: Super Thick Lash and Lash Exact. Alas, Voluminous Full Definition isn't close to the quality and performace of my CG mascaras. Mind you, i've had worse mascaras and paid more for them as well - but then, i've had better - therefore 3lippies. So why am i looking to switch from Cover Girl? Because Cover Girl has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate in their mascaras = big baddie.Blackest black wasn't the blackest black i've ever encountered.. it's just a plain ordinary low-grade black. i'll give it a few more tries and edit my review accordingly. So while Voluminous Full Definition isn't terrible.. i'm left underwhelmed. No flakes, not really brittle-looking, there was some smudging after a few hours. It does thicken some, it does define some.. but i got some lashes stuck together and looking somehow spindly, plus in the end, some clumping - i don't know why. i waited in between and applied 3 coats, which is my usual technique. i have no desire to start using an eyelash comb - so i'd rather stick with my SLS infused Super Thick Lash/Lash Exact. That being said, based on Bubbles68's review.. i might try Voluminous Carbon Black next.. only to get away from the SLS ingredient. NOTE i prefer dramatic eyes and really lush-plump lashes. If you're looking for a dramatic effect, this may not suit you. If you're looking for an everyday mascara that gives you some thickness, this may just be your mascara.

I will buy no other mascara. Full Definition is thinner than the original, giving a more natural look. If I want drama, I wait 30 seconds and apply a second (and third...) coat. I am *extremely* prone to racoon-eye, but I have no problems with Voluminous. All the formulas are good, but this is the best one.

I believe I love this even better than my original formula Voluminous. This formula is more fluid and isn't as thick as regular Voluminous, which can get clumpy if you're not careful. This is super smooth and the brush gets to even the tiniest little lashes. This is now my HG for mascara.

So I got this because it was on sale....and Im glad I did! This is the best Mascara I have ever used! Its amazing!!! It defines nicely, rarely clumps, so far no flakes and no smudging, It holds a curl extremely well for the whole day. I barely ever have to use a lash comb to separate.
I really like this and will probably buy it again.
The only reason I dont give it 5 lippies is because it was a little hard to come off at the end of the day. C'est la vie! :)

I want dramatic eyelashes, and after reading a lot of the reviews, I thought I'd get them with FDV. Well, I was wrong. This stuff gives me spider lashes and hardly gives volume. What a disappointment. Average at best. My search continues.

My sister uses this with good results, so I picked up a tube and was very disappointed. It went on very wet and took all the curl out of my lashes minutes after curling them with an eyelash curler. It didn't do much for volume besides clumping several lashes together. I will stick with my Max Factor 2000 Calorie - far superior!

This is my mascara of the moment. I tend to be very fickle when it comes to mascara's, because the next great thing always seems to be coming out. However, I have come back to Full Definition Voluminous more than once and wonder why I stray. For me, it's a little less goopy and more natural than the original Voluminous, so I can wear it to work without looking like I'm going clubbing. I wear the blackest black color and I love the glossiness and definition...not as much having to attack my eyelashes with a lash comb as I've had to do with regular Voluminous. It stays on my eyes through a long work day with very minimal flaking. I use Shieshido (sp?) The Mascara Base under this and my very small eyes POP. I take it off at night with Neutrogena Gentle Eyemakeup Remover with no problem. I didn't give it 5 lippies because there are very few that merit that for me. I would buy again and have several times.

This mascara aint bad - in fact I've received compliments while wearing it. However it can be a little tricky in the application department. I find too much product comes out, so that with a full tube one needs to scrape the excess off along the rim of the tube, then lightly blot with a tissue. I know this is a lot of work, but once you get further down, just the tissue does the trick. Using this method, Full Def vuolumizes and defines your lashes to nice effect. However, I'll continue to search for something not so high maintenance.

I picked this up on a whim after reading the glowing reviews for the original L'Oreal Voluminous, and all I can say is, "WOW." My lashes are very long and dark, but thin. This makes them look lush and full (perfect for day), but not dramatically over-the-top like DiorShow did (which I'd rather wear on a night out). So far it hasn't started flaking or smudging, but I'll have to see how it stands up to the city humidity during a day outside. Nearly an HG (I say 'nearly' because a girl can never have too many mascaras).

Edit: Took off two lippies because it started to get very sticky and clumpy after about a week of use. Too bad, because it was great when I first got it.

This is my HG mascara, hands down. I always return to it, even after trying other mascaras (Clinique, Lancome, Maybelline, etc). I love the color- I usually get Blackest Black. The price can't be beat, and it goes on so smoothly- hardly ever clumpy. I also wear contact lenses, and it never bothers my eyes. Great stuff!

Love it!

This is my all-time HG in mascaras. I love the super big brush, the fact it leaves my lashes super soft and the dramatic look it gives to my lashes. It does flake a little, but I don't care. It gives length and volume to my supershort lashes.

I really like this mascara. The black is a pure deep on-the-glossy-side black. It gives lenght quite easily. Yes, it clumps a bit, but since it leaves my lashes super soft, it's easy to run a dry mascara brush to make them super define. And the result is cleaner then lash lift, an other favorite for me.

What a bummer. I've been using original Voluminous for a while and LOVE IT. Definitely my HG, having tried Maybelline through Lancome. The package description made it sound like an improvement on the original (same non-clumping, but with better moisturizers, etc. for healthy lashes) but it blows: lots-o-clumps, plus it runs down my face within an hour or so after application! No contest compared to the original formula (Great Lash is better than this one, too). 3 lippies because it's not a total throw-away (which would be a 2 or below for me), but I won't be repurchasing.

Not the worst mascara ever, but far from the best. Decent colour and but not much volume, not much length, and clumps a bit (but I find most mascaras do). The worst part is that it doesn't hold a curl. I usually use the regular voluminous (waterproof) and will go back to that.

SUCKS SO MUCH! Waste of money...gooey...clumpy even when I wiped the wand off in a BRAND NEW tube...totally UNCURLED my fresh curled lashes. Only one good point...the color was very dark black...but totally not worth it!

UPDATE: Because I didnt want to be so wasteful I decided to give this mascara one last chance b4 I was going to throw it out. After taking the excess off with the opening of the tube AND cleaning it off with a tissue it gave AMAZING RESULTS! Full definition absolutely! Volume, length everything! =)

The product certainly lives up to the name--on good days I will have full voluminous lashes. On bad days however, this mascara clumps and smears way too much. I will not purchase this product again.

This gave me no length, just definition and slight volume. Not the worst I've tried, but will not repurchase because it flakes on me and gets in my eye. I'm a contact lens wearer (Boston Lenses) and stay away from anything that flakes = instant irritation.

Full Definition Voluminous makes lashes look fuller, longer, and seperated, without clumping or flaking. And yet still look and feel natural. Two coats is always more than enough for me. Easy to remove. And I like the longer brush w/the close tiny bristles. But next time I will purchase the curved brush. I paid $6.99 from Walgreens. ***** UPDATE 3/7/07 *****CoverGirl Lash Exact & Volume Exact are my new HG mascaras.

I loved this mascara because it gave me a lot of thickness and length. You can add several layers, and it'll never get spikey or clumpy, especially if you use a lash comb. I especially loved the brush, it was so huge that I thought it was going to poke my eye out. The brisles are packed closely together so it's always precise and delivers enough product. I also loved how it had vitamins and whatever in the formula. The only thing however is that it gets a little crumbly.

Let me first tell you that I love a full, dramatic, super thick lash. If you like your lashes long, feathery and separated, we would not be mascara sisters, so don't even bother reading on. Mascaras that I've loved are MF 2000 Calorie, Dior Maximeyes and regular Voluminous. What I like about FDV is the brush...the bristles are tightly packed to give you the illusion of more lashes. You can also layer 3 or 4 coats and it still doesn't get spidery. My HG was the Dior Maximeyes, but in my opinion you can get the same look for less with this mascara.
