Why is everyone complaining this doesn't give any volume? It's a lengthening and defining mascara people!!! It's not supposed to give volume!! I have deep-set eyes and always use lengthening mascaras as volumizing ones tend to go on so thick and heavy my eyes can really look sunken into my head. This mascara is great for bringing my eyes "out". It really does lengthen and seperates nicely. Doesn't clump and good price. Only thing is I wish is the glossy black color wouldn't fade so much only a couple of hours after application. But overall, great product! Will repurchase!

Years ago Maybelline made a mascara called Lash-By-Lash that I loved. Define-A-Lash reminds me alot of Lash-By-Lash. It gives great length and definition, but not much volume. It has a brush similar to CG Lash Exact, but I like this one better. It really doesn't clump and has good staying power. I only wish they made this in a waterproof formula because I have very oily skin and I am always worried about my mascara melting off. So far this has not melted off; I'll update when the weather gets warmer. For $7 its a great buy!

i just started using this on monday, but so far so good. since i've got thick, average-length lashes i don't want a volumizing product, just one that will extend with a somewhat natural look. this seems to be doing the trick. little-to-no clumping, no smudging (a huge mascara issue for me), and noticeable but not tacky expansion.

LOOOOOOVE this mascara! I was watching an ad on TV for it and told my husband - "Yah right. Like how can they guarantee no clumps?" They were right! Love it love it love it!

This is by far the best brush in a mascara,i don't love the mascara formula itself,i use the Maybelline's Define a lash brush with my PX lash envy formula, and it gives me super thick and long long lashes,it separates and it does not clump at all! It is a very soft, weak brush but it does wonders to my lashes.I wont buy this again because im keeping the brush and i use it with another mascara.

I have liked quite a few of Maybelline's mascara's. One of my favorites was Lash Expansion, so I had no problem buying their lastest one that the wand looks similiar to Cover Girl's lash exact and Max Factors lash perfection. The one thing I noticed right away and I don't care for is the wand is a bit wobbly compared to the other two. It gives good lengthen, dark pigment, good separation and wears all day. It does not give volume but if I use my Lancome Cils booster it helps a bit and it actually seems to extend the lashes even longer! Sometimes I use it with my Cover Girl volume exact mascara to top off my lashes. The price is good, and I would repurchase.

LOVE this mascarra. I've allready bought 2 of these, and will probably get another cause Im so scared I might loose it. This really seperates my lashes and makes them look long. Last for 12 hours without smudgeing and I live in FL so it's allready getting hot out. Wore this yesterday to Busch Gardens and it was the only makeup I was wearing that held up all day.

Nice packaging/look. I am generally a fan of the "latest" brush technology but Max Factor Lash Perfection is still my favorite and this one by Maybelline is my least favorite so far. The brush is too limp and difficult to work with quickly and easily. My lashes looked too spiky and I really had to work with a few coats to try to get come volume and curl, with the end result being nothing spectactular. Max Factor's Lash Perfection delivered a lot better curl and volume than this mascara so I was disappointed. I also perfect Cover Girl's Lash Exact.

i got this i hopes that it would be like cg, but alas, it clumped immediately, and i had to use an old cg lv wand to seperate my lashes. the end product was nice, but its not worth it because the brush is supposed to seperate for u!! i returned and will not repurchase.
edit: ok,so the pretty green tube sucked me in again!! i think perhapd i got a yucky one last time, cuz it didnt clump into one lash after 1 swipe this time. it definetly gives length and slightly thickens. if i appy too much it does clump, but i just brush throught with a clean plastic spoolie left over from a cg mascara. if they could only make a waterproof of this because only waterproof keeps the curl on my lashes...i would repurchase if it was waterproof.
me: med-slightly long, dark straight lashes

I use false eyelashes from Revlon on a daily basis (which to many people sound bizarre but it works for me because my natural lashes are pathetic and there's no point trying anymore!) so I use this for my lower lashes almost exclusively.
I have to say that it works very well. It lenghtens INCREDIBLY (my boyfriend said I had 'spider eyes' so i guess I have to easy on it!), darkens and separates nicely. It dries pretty quickly as well and you're supposed to layer it on while it's still wet so that can be tricky.
I like the little brush with the new plastic-y bristles, no clumping, even on the brush. However, I did find that the formula smudged very easily... after about 2 hours I had brown streaks under my eyes.
Still, overall this is a good product. Not fantastic, but better than some others I've used.

If you like these new brushes and you like Maybelline mascaras...then Define a Lash is for you! The brush is way more flexible than (almost limp)the other brushes on the market. It also has an hourglass shape (like the Hypnose brush) to it. The spikes on the brush seem a touch longer than most. I like the brush better than the CG Lash Exact and MF Lash Perfection (Maybelline's brush gives better volume than these.). But I don't know if I like it any better than my current favorite, Max Factor Volume Couture (haven't tried CG Volume Exact). As for the mascara itself, it is truly a Maybelline mascara. It is wet formula and reminiscent of their full and soft. I have never understood the allure of Full and Soft (I've never "loved" Maybelline mascaras")and have preferred MF mascaras. It is a really nice mascara even though I am not crazy about the wet formula. The wet formula may be why Define a Lash leaves your lashes softer than the CG and MF ones. For those of you who thought Lash Exact and Lash Perfection were too dull and made your eyelashes look sparse, but maybe felt Volume Exact and Volume Couture were too clumpy/thick...Maybelline Define A Lash is the PERFECT middle ground.

this is one of the worst mascaras I've used and I've tried pretty much all of them. Made my lashes look brittle and spiky, not full at all. flaked off almost immediately. total waste of money

This is Maybelline's new mascara with a plastic brush like CG Lash Exact and Max Factor's Lash Perfect... comes in a Bright green tube, which I find very cute... I really love this stuff! Hands down my fave of the new mascara craze... I've tried CG Lash Exact, VolumeExact & MF Lash Perfect & Volume Couture... and this lenghtens, holds curl, separates without clumping & provides volume all in one... LOVE LOVE!!! I found this in a display at Target and I've also seen it at CVS. I believe its $7
