I have recently purchased the 168 and at first all was good....perfect highlight and contour brush....as i was only spot cleaning with clinique brush cleanser no problems...but omg i washed it with warm water and baby shampoo as i have my countless other brushes....what a nightmare...the brush has lost all it's shape and has gone too soft and fluffy so the contour colour ends up squashing all over my cheek...not a good look. As mac brushes are very expensive i expected it to hold it's shape and form for longer than 1 wash

I probably use this brush daily for contouring and applying blusher. I use this more than a specific blusher brush. I like the feeling that I have control when I use this brush.
Shedding has not been bad for me and it does wash well and retains its shape well.

I bought this in a face brush set with the holiday collection where the handles are all red and it came with a red pouch. It's slightly smaller than the one you would buy individually I think. It's got a great angle so I use it with my blush to contour. After I wash it I just shape it at that angle again and let it air dry. It doesn't shed on me and I like it :)

I bought this brush because it is a beautiful shape, it's soft, and it was recommended for contouring.
It works great as a contour brush. The angles give you a perfect fit for your cheeks and under your chin.
However, my brush shed like CRAZY. And not Brittney Spears CRAZY. And I know to properly wash it and take care of it (yada yada) but it still does it. I even bought the mesh brush things that you put over your brush to retain the shape after it's been washed and it still does it.
Therefore, I don't care for it at all! Plus I love my 109!!

I don't understand the reviewer below. This brush does NOT shed AT ALL, at least mine. It is WONDERFUL for conturing purposes, i love it love it. It's very soft made of goat hair.
VERSATILE! It applies blush AND highlighter like a dream as well. Fits perfectly to make those cheek bones stand out the best.
It does NOT compare to other brushes. The slant on this one makes the WHOLE difference. Try it for yourself.
I keep it inside the original plastic it was when I purchased to maintain it like new for many many more years to come. Recommended!

I hate this brush. It sheds everywhere. It always has, ever since I bought it. For that reason, I can't stand using it. I would not recommend this brush.

I love this brush! It's probably one of my favorites. I'm surprised, in reading the reviews here, that more people don't use it for their foundation, which is what I use this brush for. I mainly use MAC's Studio Fix fluid, and I find that this brush is amazing for liquid foundation application. It's just the right size to apply the foundation in small circles around the face, allowing for a smooth application and an airbrushed look. If you've never tried using the 168 for this purpose, give it a try! It's simply amazing. I will probably be buying more of this brush so I can have one for blush and one for foundation. I love it

I love this brush for applying blush/bronzer! I got mine in the 2009 Holiday collection so I got a great deal on it! Plus the handle is shorter (which for me, is a great thing!) I don't like those big honking long handles b/c I work close to the mirror! LOL
But anyhow, the reason I find this to be the best brush for applying blush/bronzer is b/c it's fluffy yet firm enough to evenly applythe product. Now, it doesn't have the softest bristles ever but I like that b/c then you apply with a light hand (which is how you should apply blush/bronzer). I also like the way it looks, being angled, white (so I know to clean it every day since it gets dirty-looking easily), and it fits the hollows of my cheeks and even my apples perfectly.
I am hoping I don't have to ever buy this brush again but if I didn't have mine anymore, then I definitely would!

LOVE this brush. It's super soft bristles are great for application the cheeks. The angle fits the contour of the cheek perfectly and you get color precisely where you want it.
I use this for blush, as well as contouring the cheeks, and applying highlighter just under the eye area.

I love this brush. I use it to apply my blush and it's great. The angled shape makes it perfect for this area of the face. When applying blush I do small strokes with it but blending in a circular motion is hard. I think it's not really made for this. But small strokes work well. Also, I'd be careful to not use it too near to my eye area because it is not as soft as eye shadow brushes and can cause my eyes to water a bit. (I should probably add that I have the SE version from the Holiday Collection 2009.) Overall, I would purchase this brush again.

I've been using this brush for about two weeks now, and I'm loving it so far. It's great for contouring, I like using it and my Benefit Hoola bronzer most days for that purpose. The brush is extremely well-constructed, and I love the white bristles. It's extremely soft, but still firm. So far this brush has held up very well to quick-cleaning (with MAC brush cleanser) as well as deep cleaning (with Johnson's Baby Shampoo). I also like this brush for a darker application of blush (I normally use a 187). Overall a great brush if you like to contour on a regular basis, but not necessarily a must have otherwise.

Supersoft brush that works great for both applying blush and to do shading. It's definitly one of my favourites, both because of the angle and because it's oh so soft.
I'm not the best at applying blush and the angle somehow really helps with that. It makes it a bit more precise and manageable. For shading and contouring I find it way easier to use than the domeshaped alternatives.
It has lasted really great through tons of washes without any shedding.
Definitly wouldn't mind getting a second one.

I use this brush to contour my cheeks and it does really good job at it. I don't use this for highlighting or blush application, as it is not as good as other brushes. But for contouring and shading, this is my hg.

I don't believe that this brush is good for applying blush as it leaves a clear differentiation between the blush and other products applied to the face (such as foundation and powder). So now I'm going ahead and buying the Sigma ss188 because I hear the duo fibre stippling brushes are much better for powder blush application. I would not reccomend this brush.

I am impressed of how much this brush resists at me. :-) I remove the dirt with water and soap and since it is made by wood I am soooo impressed that this didn't break or separate from the top.
Anyway, I like this one; I use it every day for applying my blush and I like the result. It has an exceptional quality and I would definitely buy it again in case of failure. LOL

i dont use this brush anymore, i may find a use for it, but as for contouring, not impressed, i cant really see the angle in it to be honest, its slight and due to the general fluffy nature i dont feel in control.
i dont know. but would not purchase again.
the quality of the brush is good, no shedding etc.

I use this brush as a contour brush & it works great. I use it with my lightsweep/shadester sculpting powder. It works wonders. It creates the softest looking shadow on your face for a more natural look. The harsh lines are blended out quite well too.

I got this to use as a contour brush, but it's not really that great. It is extremely soft, but is not as dense as I would like it to be. Also, because it is so fluffy, I feel that the color application isn't precise enough.

ok the reason i am scoring only 3 lipsticks is because i'm in the middle of this product. half of it i like(key word) half i don't like. i'm sure that if i took the time out and practiced with this brush, i would like it alot more. the main purpose i use this brush for is to contour. when i contour, the color tends to go below where i want it to. that causes the blush to stray away and then both of my cheeks are not even contoured, just a smack of blush on my cheeks. the 165 brush is much better at achieving that for me. i'm going to keep this brush and practice more with it. but i won't purchase again due to the fact that i find the 165 is better for me.

I first tried a version of this brush when I purchased the mac face holiday set ... speaking of those holiday sets, I don't care that these are super cute, they don't compare to the full sized brushes AT ALL, mainly just the travel sized FACE brushes. I would suggest saving your money and shelling out the bucks for the full sized versions . . . sorry, I was a newbie at one point too and fell for the hype of the adorable travel sets because "they're such a good deal" . ... Ok back the FULL sized brush : ) i love it.... it's super soft, i use mine every single day for blush and it just gives such a nice application of product.
