I like this mask. I think it works great to control oil and spot treat blemishes overnight. I use this 2-3 times a week. My only complaint is the sulfur smell that it leaves behind so I always do it at night. If I wore it in the morning, it would smell all day underneath my makeup and that would drive me mad! Other than that, love it.

If you have sensitive skin like I do, you need to stay away from this stuff. Proactiv never worked for me, but my brother used it while he was in HS (he still has acne and no longer uses Proactiv bc it doesn't do anything for his adult skin) and we both tried the Refining Mask. It was fine for him, he didn't really feel any effects from it (I don't really know if it did anything for his acne either), but when I put it on, it felt like acid burning off my skin. It hurt so bad that I couldn't keep it on for more than a minute. When I rinsed it off, my whole face was red and felt sun burned. It was still sensitive when I went to sleep but luckily was fine when I woke up. I'm glad it works for some, but boy did I have issues with it.

I hated the pro activ three step system. It didn't work for me at all but I started using the mask as an overnight spot treatment and it work WONDERS! I had cystic acne but when I felt or saw a bump i would dab this stuff on at night and by morning it would reduce the size and turn it into a tiny little dot that went away much, much faster. This is a miracle product from pro active. I just wish I could say the same about their other products.

I love this mask, it is a good product, the only flaw is that it makes ur face tighten up after you use it.

I really like this product for spot treatment. I broke out really bad due to stress from finals. This cleared it up so well! i dont really like this product for a mask because it is really drying.

I LOVE this mask. I don't like everything that proactive makes, but this is one of the best. If I feel a pimple coming on I just put this on before bed and the next day it's practically gone. I use this once a week just to give my skin a pick me up. I've tried a lot of higher end masks and I still don't think that any of them are better than this one. Give it a try, it's not that expensive either.

I received this for free when I purchased the whole 3 step kit a few years back. I think that for people with moderate to major acne, this won't really work because there's just too many pimples, and spreading a ton of this across your entire face would be both overly potent/harmful and expensive. I found that the best use for this mask was spot on treatment for cystic acne and zits that were clearly at the end stages of development. I noticed that after a while, the treatment ceased to be effective, and also when used too frequently with the 3 step kit, it was a bit too much for my skin (which was oily/combination at the time) and made it very red and painful.
Lastly, the smell! I understand that there's sulfur, but it did stench something awful.

OK well I got this free back in the day when I ordered proactiv. I used it as a mask numberous times and also sometimes as a spot treatment as they recommended. It didn't really do anything at all so yeah..the smell is not so great but that doesn't matter to be if the product actually works (which it didn't).

Alright , so this is a good product , I use it mainly as a spot treatment on any pimples I have , it dosent make them disappear right away but it does help a whole lot . Shrinks them down alot faster than anything else ive used .

Also its good to use if your really oily in your t-zone , only applied to your t-zone though for me anyways.

I used this mask and the three step regimen by ProActiv for about 5 months. Here's what went down:
it took about 1-2 months to start working. My skin was flawless. After it started working, it MAJORLY dried my skin out where it was actually peeling. I stopped using it. My acne slowly started coming back. My acne came back 100% and was probably 10x worse than before I used this product.

And that's my experience with these products. I'll start off with the cleanser. It's very gritty but not really too harsh. Smell isn't too pleasant but it's not bad at all. The toner stung a bit, but it dries quickly. I actually liked the smell of the toner. The "repairing lotion" (which is usually mistaken as a moisturizer --it is not), is harsh. The lotion dried me out terribly and always made my skin red when first applied. It smells kind of like medicine or something, and it always burned my skin. It also made my skin flaky and dry.

Used this as a spot treatment and it absolutely did nothing for me.
Also smells really bad because of the sulfur.

I think this mask is ok , it doesnt seem to clear up a pimple . I hate how its soo hard to come off . if you dont have acne prone skin and u just want to try a mask , i would say try this . But make sure you use a wash cloth to make it off

i wonder why i havent written a review for this..coz i have been using it for a year!!!..i actually have it on right now!!!..i got it free so many times that i have bought the 3 pack proactiv that i have like 4-5 tubes of them still unused..coz 1 small tube goes a long way..as i recommend using it just once a week.....i use it more like a mask than a spot treatment...but maybe i should use it as a spot treatment in the future as well..i love this mask..it does what its supposed to..but i dont know if better ones are out there..coz i never used clay masks before i got this free.....its a little hard to wask off..but i guess all masks are like that..!!..but yeaa i stopped using the proactiv 3 step..coz many of my elder freinds said that it is bad for the skin coz it has soo many chemicals and stupidly i listened and switched to clinique /herbal ointments..and i broke out on my forehead withh 4-5 acne pimples that have left dark scars..soo i regret not continuing with the proactive..i think i will go back to it once all my supplies that i have get over..coz i realised i have been spending way too much on beauty treatments lately..and im on a budget!!...
but yea this mask is always gonna be there for me no matter what..HG definately!!!

As part of a starter kit for Pro Activ, this was the only product that really worked for me. Even with the whole "system" of face wash, toner and lotion - I still had breakouts. This refining mask - which is more of a spot treatment product, doesn't make the pimples disappear overnight, but it does make a difference. The acne would shrink down much faster and most of the time would just fade away within a few days. I've never used a clay mask, so I don't have anything to compare this to, but if there is a cheaper alternative to this, I will try it.

Have to agree with the last reviewer, this mask works just as well as any other clay mask... I've had fancy clay masks applied when I get facials done and those don't work any better than the cheaper ones either. So I'll probably skip this one in the future... I do like the Proactiv 3 Step System and will likely keep using it though! Everyone's skin is different so what works for me may not work for someone else and vice versa. :)

Works like most clay masks, but pro: doesnt cause irritation and does its job of absorbing excess oils.

I only first used this as its a freebie with proactive trio.

I think its affordable and cheap and relatively effective, I have also used Skinceuticals clay mask and other drug store brands,,,,and this is an equal to any other.

The only downside is that i dont like the somewhat drying effect it has due to oil absorbing properties. moisturiser or toner required after washing off to prevent dehydration recommended.

Clay mask arent something that i splurge on, (i splurge on serums and gels) and this one fits the bill and rel cheap.

I love this mask. It's a little on the pricey side for a small tube but a little goes a long way so mine has lasted for a long time.

I typically let this set on my skin for 15-20 minutes and then rinse with cool water every few weeks. I love the way it removes all the surface oil from my skin and leaves my skin looking refreshed and bright.

As an individual product I'd recommend this mask to most folks. Works especially well on acneic or oily complexions as the active ingredient is sulfur which mattifies and heals.
