This product is great. It gradually gave me a believable golden brown color over the period of a week. If you're looking for a really dark tan, I would not recommend this product. Also, if you're looking for an instant tan, this is not for you. Personally, I really liked that it was a gradual tan. If there was that an area that I had applied too much tanner/lotion, I would simply avoid that area the next time. It gives me control. As others have mentioned, the smell is great. It's very tropical and sweet. For me, the smell is too strong although it does fade after a while. As a lotion, it is good, nothing exceptional. It supposedly has some skin firming properties, which I can't really comment on because I haven't paid attention to that aspect of my skin. I have sensitive skin, but it hasn't made my skin break out. I have only used it on my legs, so I can't comment about any other area. I'm a really lazy person, so I don't exfoliate before putting this on, and don't notice problems because of it. Also, shaving hasn't affected the tan. It also fades very well. Overall, this is an awesome self tanner lotion for the value. I found it in Walmart for about 6 dollars. It comes in an 18 oz bottle and will probably last me a really long time.

From the reviews on MUA I decided to try this lotion out and let me say it's awesome. Found it at Wal-Mart for $6.00 and boy is it worth it. Have put it on three times in the last two days and can already see a difference. No orangey streaks just a nice natural hint of tan color. Very nice. Definitely worth trying if you've tried all types of self-tanners, best I have used so far and smells really good, doesn't have that self tanner smell that they all normally do!!!

I first used this lotion when I was in grade 12. Probably going on 3 years ago now. I loved it and noticed it made me look so tanned. Not orange, not red, not yellow just a beautiful golden brown. I stopped using this because it started to stain my elbows( back then I didn't exfoliate once a week). But decided to give this another try. Recently bought this at Wal-mart in Michigan. It's always sold out or just one or two left on the shelve.I don't know why they can't sell this at Canadian Wal-Marts!! Anyways, I got 40% free in my bottle.YAY! This stuff is great!I love the color it gives me and no streaks. I also find this moisturizer very moisturizing and makes my skin baby soft. I don't mind the smell like other have stated. I really like it. It does fade after a while and you get a tiny self tanner smell. But it is very minimal. My friend couldn't smell anything when I asked her. I don't find that this rubs off on anything either. Great product for being so cheap!! I don't put this on my face or my chest. Those two areas I'm very careful what I put on because I'm prone to breakouts. Love this stuff!

UPDATE: Once desired color is achieved I would only use this once a day or every other day because it turns just a tiny bit orange on me.

UPDATE: This is very moisturizing, sometimes I feel it can be a bit heavy so not a lot of product is needed.

I've stopped going to tanning salons and have been trying to find a self tanner that didn't smell bad and wouldn't break the bank either. After reading all of the reviews here I went to my local Walmart and found it. Only $5.77 for 18 ozs, price seemed reasonable. After using it for 7 days as of today all I have to say to the reviewers here is THANKS! I have fair skin and the color is nice and golden, not fake looking at all. And being 52, I need all the firming help I can get. My skin hasn't felt this smooth in years. I use it when I get home at night and it absorbs into my skin rather quickly. Will definitely be buying more of this soon.

I've been using this product for about 3 days and have yet to see any color. My expectations are very high because of all the great reviews, but we will see if this lotion is any good. The good thing about this lotion is because it smells amazing!! I enjoy putting this stuff on in the morning and my boyfriend loves it too! He says I smell yummy, which makes me more delicious to him. lol. I will hopefully have an update on this product if anything happens.

Hmm well, I've been using this product for around 3 days now and I can't really see the color difference yet. It looks like I got just a bit darker but that could be my imagination. haha. Anyways, this is not bad at all. I love the texture which is like your regular lotion and goes on smoothly. It absorves QUICKLY and in less than 3 minutes, I can put my clothes on. It's just like a good lotion!

I don't like the smell very much because it's too strong but it does fade after a bit. Some people wrote here that they can't smell the fake tanner smell but I certainly can. It's not as strong as other self tanners, tho! The smell is tolerable and I can stand going out with this lotion on. =)

I'll continue to use it and come back here to report after a week has past. Overall, I like this lotion. Certainly better than Jergens!

I apply this to my upper body every morning. It smells like coconuts and exotic fruit. My boyfriend calls it cocojambo! I don't now exactly what that means, but I hope you get an idea :-) I doesn't smell bad, but it is a bit strong eventhough it fades. The good thing is that there is no terrible baked/fried skin stench you can get from other selftanners. My skin is moisturized with glow and subtle natural color without streaks. I used this lotion to prevent turning into a white ghost throughout the winter, not to get a tan. When I want more color I mix this lotion with my regular selftanner and get nice results that way. I like the big pump bottle and will probaply buy again

After reading the reviews here I went to walmart and bought some of this. It's only been three days, but this stuff is great!!! Everything else I've tried turns me orange, is way to oily/greasy/shimmery, streaks, or leaves me just as pale as I was to start with (all with various levels of eau de tanner stink). This is the ONLY self tanner that has given me believable color. It smells good, though it does make me crave pina coladas :) which is not a bad thing. Thank you MUA-ers for ending my orange-streaky-greasy-smelly-pasty nightmare!

I too love this product! I'm getting married in September, and am a pretty pale gal. I've never really been one to tan much, simply because I burn and it never really turns to a tan :( I thought about going to a tanning bed, but here in my neighborhood the tanning salons are sooooo expensive, and I just can't stomach spending $90 a month to tan- especially when I don't plan on doing it after the wedding! With all of this said I thought about trying my hand at a self-tanner... again. The ones that I've used prior to this awesome product have always ended up streaky, and you know the drill about the smell. This product is really amazing, it does give you an awesome golden glow. You will not end up with a Brooke Hogan dark fake tan, if that's what you are wanting, then don't waste your time! But for those of us who are pretty pale to begin with, and don't want to look impossibly tan, then this is your golden product for sure! My fiance also notices how smooth my legs are- so it really does more than just tan, it's also a great lotion! I do use it on my face, and it has not broke me out, but it has given me an amazing glow! I highly recommend it!!!!

I just tried this a few days ago because of the reviews and the price. I have to agree that this is wonderful! I have a nice even color added to my fair skin that does not wash off in the shower or rub off on my sheets. I also have used the other gradual tanning products, and this one is a winner!

This incredibly rich daily moisturizer with a delicious tropical smell gives you a hint of color without streaks, shimmer or self tanner smell. Malibu Hemp Golden Glow offers a radiant, buildable, tan without ANY orange or dull brown cast. It has virgin hemp seed oil, a small amount of DHA and skin firming complexes which make it feel wonderful on your skin. I have tried every new daily moisturizer/self tanner on the market for the last three years and this stuff is still the absolute best!

I remember when self-tanners really hit the market back in the day....they were okay, but you turned orange while emanating that glorious "fakin' bacon" smell (and yes, I meant bacon, like frying pig meat). I tried some off and on, and just could not handle the fake color and that smell.....omg, that horrid fakin' bacon smell! It made me retch. Well, self-tanners have come a long way since then, and I think the best thing to happen to them since their inception was adding a touch of self-tanner to regular body lotion. Genius!

This Malibu Hemp Firming stuff is great. Seriously. It smells yummy, like a pina colada, and I get none of that bacon smell with this. It goes on smoovely and easily....I take less than five minutes to do both legs after I get out of the shower, and I'm done with it for the day. If I want to build my tan a bit faster, I reapply before I go to bed. This won't give you that deep, dark, St. Tropez tan (anyone else remember those old Bain de Soleil commercials?), but it will give you a believable glow that looks like a mild tan. So far, I've just used this on my legs, since I haven't found anything that will help me apply this to my back, but if I can find an applicator I'll be applying this all over. I'm uber pale, and this gives me a nice glow of tan color that looks completely genuine. I go to the tanning booth for about a month prior to vacation, and I'm anxious to see if this will help even out my color a bit.

Oh, how does it firm? I can't say as my thighs look like a supermodel's now, but they do feel smoother with regular use. This won't replace losing weight and exercising, but it will help your skin to feel a bit smoother and tighter. And all this for less than six bucks at your local Stuff-Mart. So what are you waiting for?

This is the BEST gradual tanner I've ever tried, and, I've tried A LOT of them. After applying to my entire body, including my face (with no break outs), twice a day (morning and night) for three consecutive days, it has given me a beautiful, warm, bronzy color that's totally believable. The lotion has a pleasant, clean fragrance (like pina colada) that does not turn and get the old familiar self tanner stench after a while. The lotion is moisturing, absorbs quickly and does not leave a sticky film, like many others I've tried. It comes in a large, 18 oz. bottle and is a great bargain at about $6.50 per bottle. Great product! I will definitely continue buying and using.
UPDATE: After 4 days of using it twice a day, I've cut down to just once a day after my morning shower. The color is gorgeous! I can now step out proudly in my short shorts and bikini and not worry about any tiny imperfections because the lotion totally evens out my skin tone making my face and body look completely flawless with a healthy, bronzy glow! Seriously, this stuff is amazing! Try it. You'll LOVE it, too.

I picked this up on a whim at WalMart about a month ago, and thought in the back of my mind that I was probably going to hate it. Boy was I ever wrong! In the past I've tried other products of this type, and always hated the smell they produce, the streaks, etc. This lotion has a pleasant scent to begin with, and I haven't been able to smell that nasty "self tanner" odor at all.
I tan once or twice a week in the tanning bed; and I wanted something to add to that, since I have very fair skin and don't get very dark even when I'm tanned. I began to notice a difference after about three days-the extra color it gives my skin is very even and natural-looking. I use it every night after I shower. If my skin is feeling a bit dry from pool chemicals, as it often does in the summer; I mix this lotion with my regular body lotion. It doesn't change the effect at all.
Overall this is the ONLY self-tanning product I have ever liked-and I've tried some high-end products. I'd love to see more stuff from this company; and I wish they'd make a face tanner!

HG for me, I'm really disappointed when I go a while without using it. I have super pale, dry, rough, blemished skin all over my body- for example I have keratosis pilaris on my arms which causes extreme redness and roughness, spider veins on my legs, and red dots in my hair follicles above my ankles on my calves. Basically I feel like a freak!

Since I'm so pale, and I don't like to sunbathe, most self tanners are really obvious on me when they start fading. This not only gives me beautiful, believable color, but it doesn't fade funny at all. It also moisturizes my skin so much better than anything else- my skin just feels comfortable, which NO moisturizer I have tried allows me to feel. The redness on my arms fades quite a bit (or perhaps blends) and the bumps are smoothed. My skintone looks almost even, which for me is a miracle.

I don't ever, ever want to be without this. Oh and did I mention the smell isn't bad at all? I have the nose of a bloodhound, I kid you not- but I can actually wear this out in public without worrying I'm offending anyone. I would give it 10 lippies if I could!

This is my second year using this product. I love it for 2 reason - Malibu Hemp doesn't test on animal and the lotion does nourish and smooth out your skin. I do have to agree with others that the color is not the darkest/deepest so I use it in conjunction with the real sun (in moderation) to get a nice look. I knocked off 1 lipstick in my rating because of the odor it leaves. I must be a freak or something cuz this product does smell on me. When I first apply it, it has the regular coconut/tropical smell but after a few hours I'm left with that brutal "fake tan smell" that I've become too familiar with. It's in no way as strong as some of the other brands I've tried, but I have to shower after I use it. So I've started putting it on before I go to bed, then in the morning my body wash gets rid of the odor. But I do have to toss my pj's into the wash after each use.

I love what this rich moisturizing lotion does for my skin! It gave me a believable color after applying 3-4 times. If your darker complected and looking for a deeper darker color...this may not be the lotion for you. I have fair skin and had to apply several times before seeing results. Down side...you have to use at least 7 days in a row to get the color you want and then to maintain it...maybe every other day. But with that said it leaves my skin feeling firmer, softer, silky and it has a yummy tropical scent. Because this lotion is sooooo good for my skin , I don't mind using it every day. I'd continue to buy this even if it didn't give me any color. The lotion contains fantastic ingredients to give your skin everything it needs for a healthy glow. Coconut oil, Hempseed oil, Vitamin E oil, Erythrulose (which helps to keep an even non streaky look),Co Q10, Sesame oil, Jojoba oil, Tea Tree oil, Green Tea extract. I was able to obtain a 18 oz. bottle at Walmart for 5.77. Can't beat that price for that amount of a great lotion. Well worth the price.

******Special note. I had to stop using this because I am allergic to the tea tree oil. I have a hormonal imbalance. Tea tree oil has been known for it's estrogen effects on the ovaries. I make too much estrogen and being estrogen dominate. I suffer from PMDD...that's PMS X's 10 When I use this....my PMDD symptoms become worse. I couldn't figure out why till looking at ingredients closer. I've had a reaction to tea tree oil before using this. I really hated giving it up. But I have found another sunless tanner I like even better to replace this brand. It's Palmer cocoa butter bronzing sunless tanner and the gradual tanner. Down side. I hated giving it up to for it's firming effect. I now have to use a Palmer sunless tanner along with the Palmer bust firming cream to help firm my body which cost me a little more. ...yes...I use the bust firming all over for a wonderful firming effect.
