I used this a few times on my fading red hair. I could not even tell that I used it. Awful product in my opinion.

I used this for the first time today. I have wavy, past-my-shoulders medium brown hair that I color to get rid of the annoying grays (L'Oreal Preference Medium Brown, in case anyone cares!). My hair tends to frizz a bit when it's humid, and also (because of the coloring, I suspect) seems to have lost a little shine. So I ponied up my $9.99 for the dark brown glaze and gave it a shot this morning. After shampooing and conditioning, I squeezed as much water as I could out of my hair, and tried to evenly distribute about a quarter-sized dollop of the glaze. Then I waited for a few minutes -- and I did spend a little time scrubbing at the brown spot the glaze left on my palm (it came right out). I rinsed it out thoroughly and followed my usual styling regimen - towel dry, comb through, and go! I've noticed, now that my hair is dry, that it does seem shinier, the color is richer, and it seems smoother than usual. No annoying smell or texture, either. I think I'll keep using this and see if it gets even better with repeated use!

I recently went from platinum blonde hair to very dark brunette. I was very worried about my new color fading out super quickly. I find that if I use this when I wash my hair it does really help to prolong my color. Anytime I use it people comment that my hair looks darker and less red (because we used a red filler in my hair before putting in the brown as the brown fades my hair tends to look really auburn).
I do not feel that it gives me much shine, but this could be because my hair still very processed from the bleaching and naturally quite dry, so it is really hard for it to get shiny anyway.
Overall I would recommend this.

I really like this product. I use the Clear Glaze and I have been really pleased with it thusfar. Yes, it is subtle, but still noticeable. My hair looks healthier and feels less dry. Moreover, when I blow-dry I have much better results. Perhaps it smooths the cuticle, but if seems to cut down on frizz when the weather is bad. I wholly endorse it, though I wonder what implications it has for the health of my hair. Also, I don't particularly enjoy the smell on application, but I don't dislike it either and it becomes more pleasant after hair is styled.

i decided to buy it after hearing good things about this product. i have dry, highlighted hair and lacks shine :( but trying this out yesterday for the first time i applied it to dry hair and left it on for the recommended 20mins and then washed as usualy (shampoo+conditioner). let it dry naturally and my hair is definitly shiney and softer than usual. i find it does leave the hair a little greasy but not majorly.for dry hair i appreciated that but for someone with greasy hair perhaps not the product for you. but definite recommend....

Wow! I can't believe there are such horrible reviews on what I think is such a great product!
My hair is fine and flat but I use this instead of, NOT after, my conditioner and it give me a shine and depth in my dark brunette color. I also love the smell, it is the same as the JF Brilliant brunette shampoo and conditioner.
But, be careful as it will stain your tub!!

This made my hair more smooth. Not as smooth as I would have liked it to be. My hair was not very shiny either.

I got mine from various drugstores. Usually about $8-$10 depending on where I can find it. I've gone through 3 bottles and I'm sorry, but I really don't see any more or less shine. My hair is in no worse condition, but no better either. For that, I can just use some plain conditioner and not spend so much. Obviously, I wouldn't buy this again.

So I'm not entirely sure why everyone is trashing on this product - I'm really beginning to like it!
FYI: You're only supposed to really see results after quite a few uses - not just one! Also, a lot of people are having problems with greasiness after using this product, which is a problem I have no yet experienced - as long as I'm sure to rinse it out well (until I can't see any of the color in the water coming out of my hair) it's fine. Also, try to squeeze as much water out of your hair as possible because using the product, I think it makes it more effective.
I bought the bright red shade. My hair is normally strawberry light-brown, with more light brown than strawberry. I figured that I'd try to red shade to maybe give the reddish tones in my hair a lift, which has really worked well so far and I've only used this three times! My hair is softer, shinier, redder :), and more manageable. Definitely worth a try, if you're patient!
EDIT: I finally got sick of using this. I wish you weren't supposed to use it every single day, I'd be much more in favor of it if it were a weekly treatment.

I have not been without this since the first time I tried it, and I always keep 2-3 bottles on hand so I'm never out! I started with the one for blondes, but I only have highlights on the top half of my head, and it turned the natural dark blonde underneath a reddish tone. However, once they came out with the CLEAR one, I was hooked. My stylist commented that my hair integrity was much better, the cuticle smoother and thus shinier hair (I told her I was using this product and she said that's definitely what's making the difference). I use it every time I shampoo and condition, except when I'm traveling. It's totally worth the $10 price tag. I really can't understand the negative reviews...but then again, it seems most of these people have only used it once. I think it's an affect that builds over time. For the record, I have below the shoulder, highlighted, fine, straight hair. Ladies, I also highly recommend Andrew Lessman's "Healthy Hair, Skin, and Nails" vitamins...check out HSN.com for the hundreds of positive reviews!

This product did nothing for my hair except leave in a very strong fragrance, which would have been lovely if I had liked it, even better if the Town & Country review had been accurate. I used the product as a treatment, and as the post-shampoo/conditioner method, and neither produced any significant "glaze" shine. Big disappointment,

I read about this product in February Town and Country. They had it as one of the 25 best new beauty products and it sounded like something I needed. My hair is thick, dry and curly/frizzy and turning slowly from dark ash blond to gray (with some blond highlights).
The clear version was unavailable so I got the brown shade and did exactly as instructed. The smell is NOT obnoxious. It is a little too strong, but it does indeed rinse out. It did not leave an oily residue. It left my hair very soft and silky. I set it on large rollers and then did a quick run through with the straight iron as usual, but it turned out much softer and shinier than ever before. The color didn't really do much but I was impressed enough by the shine and softness that I look forward to increased results.

Disliked the extra step in the shower (guess I'm too low-maint. for this stuff), saw absolutely no difference after one month of use, and hated-- I mean HATED-- the smell of this stuff.
As a side note, I used to love Frizz-Ease but they seem to have screwed it up with this same scent so I think I may just have to call it quits with John Frieda.

I have the clear version of this product and fine Asian (silky texture but thin] hair. I love this stuff! It makes my hair a little more manageable and less limp. It only makes it shine a little so it's not too unnatural looking. I like the way it makes my hair feel afterwards. I apply it to dry unwashed hair and leave it in for a good half hour, then take a shower and shampoo and condition it. [I saw that people were using it in the shower and I think you'd get better results using it dry so you can really saturate your hair with it.] It's a great product-- one tube goes a long way and it was only about $8 at Ulta.

Contrary to many opinions, this product is great! It left my hair soft and shiny. I have greasy hair and this DID NOT make it any greasier. I made sure I rinsed it really well though.
I am wondering if this worked well on my hair because it is very healthy and I have never dyed it? Maybe if you dye your hair a lot, this product isn't for you? I'm not sure, but I will get again!!

WOW! on the first time i have used it i have noticed a difference, silkier smoother hair and a slight boost in my colour, as it was beginning to fade.
Will update when i have used it a couple more times...

Like a lot of people have mentioned, this stuff was just too greasy. I have oily hair to begin with, but I could tell this stuff would probably grease-up anyone's head, no matter what because it basically just left a ton of residue. Like a TON. I use really, really heavy conditioners and have used other color-depositing treatments like ARTec and nothing has ever been nearly as bad as this stuff. Not even close. I guess since it's a "glossing" treatment that's supposed to be okay.
I remember I couldn't wait to get this stuff when I first heard about it. What a disappointment. You're much better off going to Ulta and getting the ARTec Color-Depositing shampoo or conditioner. It's only like $4 more and it's so much better.

I have started highlighting my brown hair in the summers and so I've been having trouble getting my brown haircolors (I like to go a little darker in the fall/winter)... it seems to wash out after a couple shampoos and I'm light again.
I tried this product the first time when I got a free sample. It weighed my hair down and made it feel dirty... and strangely, the ends felt dry at the same time. I threw it away.
THEN, I caught Oprah one day that she had some Hollywood hair people on. One of them (I think it was Fredrick Frekai sp?) and he was saying how great glazes were to extend your haircolor. Then he went on to explain how to use them... he said to use them and THEN shampoo your hair. That's not what the package says, but I gave it another try. But once in the shower, I forgot and shampooed first. So I decided to do it anyway, but condition after the minutes. WHAT a difference! I use it that way all the time now and have noticed that my hair is shinier and seems to hold onto the color better! I'll always have it in my shower!

First of all, it is clear from the ratings that this product is not meant for everyone -- in fact, probably not for most people. That being said, I have very dry, very curly hair, that can go unwashed for days and not get greasy because it is so dry. This product was amazing on my less common type of hair. I have lighter brown hair, but used the espresso to chestnut glaze, and in ONE use I could tell the difference. My hair was clearly shinier post-use, but the most convincing sign that it worked was the next day -- I usually have to wash (condition -- not shampoo) my hair every day because it gets too frizzy overnight, but my hair was SO smooth and manageable the day after I used the glaze. In fact, my day-old hair was actually complimented by two strangers throughout the day.
